Kitty Tanaka wrote: Kitty laughed. "Well, that certainly explains a lot. Okaa-san always said that you can be really certain that someone likes you when they have trouble putting coherent thoughts together in your presence...actually that sounds rather odd, come to think of it. It would make life very complicated. Think of all the conversations you could never have..," "Or verbally stumble through!" He laughs. Saffire finally manages to eat the last of his super chewy treat and cheeps angrily at Michael for the trick. "Sorry, buddy, you get loud sometimes."

Kitty Tanaka wrote: "Well, you've never had any trouble talking to me, so I guess it wasn't that important of a lesson," she said, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "You just need the right conversation partner." "Or just to not think about it." He replies as they walk into the city and head for the seafood restaurant. "I find that easy when I'm with you. Not thinking, I mean. No, wait, that sounds bad. Uh..."

Kitty Tanaka wrote: Kitty laughed. "That sounds about right. Part of shinobi training includes learning the art of flirtation and seduction. Nee-chan excelled at that class. I always found a reason to be elsewhere. It was so embarrassing. And I don't think either of us would be comfortable learning flirtation from Nee-chan. This can only end in tears." "Yeah, I can only guess. I think my dad tried to teach me how to talk to girl once, but the Mom started laughing in the next room and he left quickly."

Michael laughs a little and gives Sapphire a little treat he'd made just for times like this(extra chewy even for metal cutting teeth) before taking Kitty by the hand and heading for the school's exit. "I can see the flirtation teaching conversation now. You and I, sitting there five minutes in, red faced and quiet as we awkwardly eat lunch!"

Kitty Tanaka wrote: "Only because you didn't know how," she replied with an impish grin. "She was certainly flirting with you. Not that I blame her. You are pretty cute. But I'm not planning on sharing you." "I still don't know how, but with you I think coherent, non-alchemically garbled sentences are good enough. Though if you want to teach me..."

Kitty Tanaka wrote: "Uh-oh. One of your surprises," she said with a reluctant smile. "Now I am worried. And you shouldn't worry about visiting my family. The hazing is strictly for show at this point. They'll definitely be impressed that you got revenge on the guy who killed me. It's a very shinobi sort of thing to do. They'll like that." "Hey, it's not my surprise. I just happen to be agreeing to help." The half-elf chuckles. "They haven't impressed me though, so we're still hazing your family, right?"

Kitty Tanaka wrote: "This isn't about who saves who more often or who's a better fighter, Michael! This is about you seeing me as an equal and treating me that way. When you make unilateral decisions about what is best for me without consulting me, then you are treating me like a...a pet, or a child. Not the way you treat a partner. I wanted to pay back the murderer. I did. But I am not so selfish that I could not have understood that I would have been a liability to the team. But instead of trusting me to make a good decision, you made it for me. I never even had the chance to help, and I could have. Even not being there, I could have helped. But I never had the chance. And if I keep on not having chances because you are so worried about protecting me, then I will be less than I am supposed to be," she said, stopping to hastily blow her nose. "You are nothing more or less than the best thing that has ever happened to me. That includes somehow hiding Cait Sidhe for weeks from my mother. You know me, Kitty, I can't hide things! But if there is one thing I can't hide, Kitty, it's how much I love you. You are my red smile, my loving flower. I couldn't like you wilt. Not over Repp. He deserved so much less than causing you any more pain..."

Kitty Tanaka wrote: "Michael," she began, reaching out and taking his hand. "What that killer did....What Repp did to me," she corrected herself, still struggling with her sense of betrayal. "That wasn't your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault except Repp's. If you try to protect me all the time from everything out of some misplaced sense of guilt, then you don't leave me the freedom I need to be myself. Michael, I love you too much to leave you even then, but...if you do that I will literally fade away into nothing. And this time even you won't be able to see me," she said, tears now streaming down her face. "I would never do that!" He says instantly, looking both panicked that she was crying and worried because he knew it was his fault. "Kitty, whether I am protecting you or not I am not stopping you from doing what you want to do! I mean, l-let's be serious, I'm really just a speed bump for the other side in a fight. Ch-Chances are you'll be saving me more often than not..." Says the guy that went all Jekyl/Hyde more than once. Next he'll be changing his name to Anakin. XD

"You're wrong, Kitty. I can try. I have to try. Because the one time I don't will be the one time I always regret it. That doesn't mean I don't trust you though. If you told me you had to slip a poisoned dagger between my ribs I'd mark the best place for you to do it. I simply don't trust myself."

"No, you didn't! You deserved to never die like that in the first place! To never be in a position to be killed! I couldn't protect you from him, Kitty. None of us could. I can handle you being angry at me, furious with me, even.. even breaking up with me but I could not handle you dying again."

Michael spent the walk back to the school in silence as he thought of how to explain all this. There was going to be a lot of crying and probably some hitting too, but he couldn't keep this from Kitty. He grabbed his clothes from the locker and then went to the gym to shower before going looking for Kitty. Quietly he took her back to her room and handed Saffire to her. "I have news about the murderer, Kitty. He's dead now. I went with Ace and Keme and Keme's sister and... we killed him. He can't hurt anyone else now."

Keme Tokala wrote: "Well, that I can help with," he said, using prestidigitation to clean Michael's clothes. "But the rips you're going to have to figure out how to deal with yourself." "That I can handle. I got into the habit of keeping spare clothes in my locker. My years at Avalon were not kind until recently. Well, before all this, anyway. It was nice until this."

Michael watched this all calmly and took a deep breath. His entire body shivered and then Michael took a little mental slumber while the other Michael took a drink from a vial and grinned as he grew fangs and a monstrous claw for a left hand. He drew a section of what looked like a short pole from a pouch after that and turned the handle. A blade slid out and, after a brief hissing noise, erupted in flame. I promise I won't be dealing with any new and volatile chemicals, diseases, toxins, etc, and you know what a terrible liar I am." He replies sweetly.
