I've been thinking on it for a while, but I think I'll have to drop too. My personal schedule has become pretty busy and I've needed to slim down for a while. Thank you all for game together though.

I feel that I have to echo Lagrin here, seems like every room we enter has yet more pirates, all of which are better equipped and higher level than we are. My worst fear is that we still haven't come across the pirate's leaders who were mentioned months before. While I'm fine with fighting superior forces, I'd really prefer the time and funds to plan a proper assault. Honestly, Markus is considering cutting our losses and escaping with the merchant ship while setting the pirate vessel ablaze. They can't come after us with their upper decks on fire, that's where the sails are!
Markus swings as the crocodile keeps the pirate distracted.
Markus tromps over the plank and catches the pirate fighting Billigup unawares with his mace.
The priest smiles through uneven teeth. "You alright there, Billy?"
"There's still more of them?" Markus says as he follows the Sahagin out of the hold.
Markus comes down the stairs to see the fighting between several more pirates and the crew of the other rowboat. "Still more of them, eh? Well it's good luck that I'm here."
Markus wakes up facedown on the plank between ships as the wound in his back closes. He slowly stands up, massaging his chin after it collided with the wooden support. He walks unsteadily back onto the nearer ship, taking in his surroundings. "That was close, damn near fell over the side. Where'd everyone go anyway?" Mace in hand, the big man descends down the stairs to the lower decks.
I think maybe we grab the boarding pikes and start poking them from distance, two people standing in a line will cover each other in a hallway. So long as the corridor's only 5 feet wide, and you retreat if they get into your ally's threat range, they should take tons of AoO. These pirates are beefy! I agree though, probably best to pick up Munir if possible.
"Get out of my way, sea rat!" Markus growls as he swings his weapon.
Ducking under the gunshot, Markus comes in low on the injured pirate and smacks him with his mace.
Finally on board, Markus spots an opportunity to deal with the meddling repellers. Stepping behind the man, the priest give him a great push!
With an open rope provided by Nathaniel, Markus makes his way up the ship himself.
As the others waited for someone to start the assault, Markus shrugged and grabbed one of the grappling hooks, twirling it a bit before tossing it to the ship above.
The burly man pulls the rope taut, sinking the hook into the wood of the pirate's ship. "Alright, I think she's set, get climbing!"
Markus nods slowly at the frog's excitement. "Yeah, erm, I figured that Billy was an easy enough name to remember. It's common enough amongst humans." When the big man caught Shad looking at him, Mr.Finley shrugged noncommittally. He wasn't about to get into some argument between peoples he'd only just met. With a sigh, he resigns himself to packing up his dice and preparing for the coming fight. Finding a secluded spot, the priest recites a prayer to his goddess.
My GF is an artist, and we came up with a rather funny idea that I asked her to draw. Here it is. Based on the alliance of shark-people and humans. And Predator.
Mr.Finley nods his head at the Prince's assessment. "Playing the heroes, eh? A good start, securing a name for ourselves. I'm sure Nera would approve of protecting tha' innocents too." The large man noticeably relaxes, satisfied with the young royal's planning. He peers down at the minuscule frog-man as he speaks. With mild bemusement, Markus replies, "'Course, erm... Billy, I didn't mean any offense." Looking at him closely, the priest considers this is the most well dressed frog he'd ever seen. World is wide indeed. With everyone gathered and waiting for the signal, it seemed the perfect time for some fun. "Well then, anyone up for dice while we wait? I'll take it easy on yah." Mr.Finley said with a predatory smile equal to any shark.
Mr.Finley rubs his chin. "Heard some weird things about this Blood Queen, says she can read minds or somethin'. Just one look at her eyes and she's got you under her spell. The 'king' himself's a piece of work too, like to keep a hidden pistol even as he fights with a blade. Might give Mr.Frog there a run for his money in a straight sword fight." The priest looks about the ship, not entirely impressed. "So what's the plan then? We pose as a merchants and jump them as they board us? No point to fighting if either ship sinks." He peers over the side, trying to steady himself. "Probably load the cargo with rocks or somethin', make us look heavy with treasure."
With everyone giving out introductions, Markus decided to speak his piece well, if only for the benefit of the new... creature. "I'm Markus Finley, erm, Priest of the Goddess Nera. May her blessin's protect us all!" The tall man makes a sweeping gesture to flourish his statement. Looking satisfied with himself, Markus seats himself once more by Nathaniel. While a decent, though strange drink went a long way, Mr.Finley felt a need in his stomach that wine could not satisfy. "This wine is great, but how about some grub to really get this party started? Best enjoy the goddess's harvest while we can, right?" Though perhaps a bit rude to say, the big man's expression did not convey malice.
Markus gingerly sipped the wine, it was strange, salty and sweet. Was it made with sea grapes? Certainly like no wine he'd had before. The foreign flavor was sweeter than he expected and not much like the wines he'd experienced on land, though his selections had mostly been cheap. "Ahh, tha' blessings of Nera are truly upon this drink. Soo, erm, sweet!" The priest says as he raises his glass to join the others. He eyed the others around the tavern, a more motley crew of creatures he'd never seen. Seesh, what mess have I gotta myself into?
The older human wrinkles his brow. "Well tha' Admiral was certain there'd be more to it. Maybe they're in the water nearby. I'm bettin' they don't like being on land if they don't have to." He breaks into a crooked-toothed smile. "Or maybe this is it and we can head home this evening." Mr.Finley is a tall man, almost equal in height to his companion, but similarities don't end there. He's fairly muscular, with a shaven head and crooked teeth. Typical of his clergy, Brother Finley wears a simple brown robe with minimal accouterments. The man is aging, roughly in his mid-forties, but hasn't shown signs of slowing down. Braving the eyes on him, Markus makes his way to the prince and introduces himself. "Errm... Well met, yer Majesty. I'm Markus Finley, envoy from Southern Camino. The admiral sends his regards."
I've got dice. We can also probably have a rousing discussion on the merits of the gods and religion. Markus is a follower of Nera, the goddess of Earth, plants and farmers. He spends a lot of time reading from a frayed holy text. Or we could arm-wrestle, Markus is pretty good at that too. |
