Doomed Hero here-

I have an idea for a character, but it needs some GM approval due to being a little out there.

The short version is- Demon Samurai Bodyguard. Think Chewbacca mixed with HK-47

So here are my questions-

1) Does a samurai concept fit? The background info seems pretty Chinese-analogue. Is there room for some japanese-analogue too?

2) Evil ok? The idea was to have an unrepentantly evil character honor-bound in service to the good guys. Because of the constraints of duty and honor, the evil stuff would largely be played for flavor and comedy. Assuming this is ok...

3) Is Antipaladin ok? Specifically, this one.

The basic background is in the alias if you want to take a look at it, but I'm waiting to complete the mechanics until I get answers to these questions. If you don't liek the ideas here, I'll come up with something else.

Doomed Hero here.

This is my concept for a Jade Regent character. Hulking, honor bound, Oni samurai bodyguard, at your service.

It's a common curse. Games have a pretty rough death rate.

Personally, I'd rather have a game die before I got a chance to really get into it, than one that lasts 6 months or more, gets you invested, and then self destructs.

Well, that's it for me then too. My character is too closely tied to Mai to be able to continue without her.

Sorry to see this game go out like this, but dem's the breaks. It was a good run.

She needs to go to your local mental health facility whether she likes it or not. They will get her the counseling she needs and if necessary, medication. Most likely you aren't qualified for the kind of psychological help a suicidal person needs, and your closeness to her can make certain actions or decisions more difficult. At this point you've done the right thing, but its time to pass the responsibility on to the professionals.

I hope everything turns out well.

do you know what could be causing bouts of lightheadedness and nausea?

The first things that spring to mind are dehydration or over exertion. Assuming its coming to of nowhere with no obvious external reason, the most likely candidate is a mild fever. If its not sickness, it could be Vertigo.

In any case, if it persists longer than a week or so without clearing up, see a doctor.

You're the boss, Boss. :)

Games can be therapeutic and are great for having something to look forward to, but aren't substitute for real therapy and real friends.

For what it's worth, I'm looking forward to playing with her.

Any particular reason not to keep going with the game until RVT is ready to join us?

Samurai is best class!!

Really it was just a 15 point hit with a x4 crit weapon. :)

It's been my experience that in practice most 3pp classes tend to be underpowered. I'd have to take a look at these ones more closely to get a feel for them.

Sohpia is indeed a cleric and has the full divine spell list to memorize from (as well as a few fiery surprises)

I've never looked at Sophia's sheet. This whole time I've been thinking she was a Sorceress.

>.<

I'm not a fan of Dhampir and we have a monk. Of the remaining two, the priestess seems more beneficial to the party. We don't have anyone with access to Divine spells.

My vote is for the Aasimar Priestess.

Exactly. You're all weird. I'm perfect.

The only other person with real teeth in this group is the dog.

Everyone in this group is strange.

Except me. I'm fine. I'm just grumpy because I'm surrounded by little pink freaks that never shut up.

What's one more?

Your vote still counts.

RVT has my vote regardless of Hiriko. She's fun. :)

Mamoru just brings his spear down on the nearest suit of armor.

Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Have you tried sending Hiriko a Private Message?

Can you add a map link to the campaign info thread. If you put it in the "about" box it will be at the top of every page for the game.

Mamoru nods once and moves to engage.

Not quite sure of the layout. Are we in surprise rounds? Do we have a map? It's fine if we don't. I'd like to move in and attack.

Noooo! My cookie!!!!

I'm a big blue monster. That's amazingly accurate.

Still here.

Well that's good news at least. Hope Wu Fen gets everything sorted out soon. Thank you for letting us know.

This is actually a pretty long absence. Worrisome.

That being said I'll take quality over quantity any day. I love this game.

This is a slow paced game. Its been like this from the beginning. Don't worry about it.

Mamoru grunts an affirmation and waits.

Mamoru opened the door without preamble and looked inside. It was clear he was ready to go in and see what the worry was about, but he waited for orders.

Mamoru walks in the direction Takeshi had come from, looking for whatever he might have found.

Mamoru stopped at that news, turned and waited to hear Mai's orders.

You might consider making a separate alias for Imonoth. I enjoy doing it with my characters.

Mamoru chuffed a bit at Takeshi's flowery words and walked away to look down the halls and out the windows for any other unexpected visitors.

Checking in. Mamoru has nothing to add at the moment, at least until we get to the investigation of the probably-trapped-or-possessed armor.

It really isn't you. This happens with this game sometimes.

It's a great game and a lot of fun, but it is plagued with delays. Just settle in and be patient. It will get moving again, promise.

To be fair, he was only there because he knew that's where his charge would show up eventually. Until he found out it was Mai he couldn't care less about anyone there. He spend most of his time trying to interact with squishy pink meat sacks as little as possible. The only thing he liked doing was playing board games (whatever golarion's version of Go or Majong are) and not many were willing to play with him.

Mamoru looks less than pleased that his charge was willing to put herself within reach of a stranger who's intentions were not known, but it was not his place to question her so he said nothing.

"I did not ask who you are. I asked what you are doing here." The big samurai said slowly, not moving or relaxing his weapon and ignoring the little dog.

That was my assumption. If you aren't being stealthy and came anywhere near us, that's Mamoru's response. He might be standing int he doorway or something looking out into the courtyard. We can play it however you'd like.

Standing in the middle of the room is an enormous blue-skinned Oni clad in traditional Samurai armor and dress. He turns and eyes the newcomer with naked hostility, lowering a Nagenata.

"Hold. State your business."

We're all here. Life just gets in the way sometimes. Happens with all games. Just give our GM a little time to move things forward. We'll do some roleplaying in the mean time.

I think so, yes.

We're in the throne room. It would be pretty reasonable for you to follow the short trail of open doors and dead bodies. We aren't really quiet or subtle.

GM, I think you're gong to need to frame the scene for our new monk.

@ Mamoru: I have been duly warned prior to accepting the offer.

My reputation precedes me! I must be doing something right. :)

Welcome aboard.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize in advance for my character's behavior. :)

Mamoru opens a small book bound in red leather, carefully marks something down in it with a stick of charcoal, and tucks it away again.

"You misunderstand, Seori-sama." Mamoru rumbles, following his charge.

"My duty cannot be allowed to be compromised. The spirits bound to that wall made your Mamoru run like a weakling. It rendered me unable to fulfill my oath."

"I could not be fulfill my station as long as it still existed."

"So it no longer does."

Good luck and stay warm.
