Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Shocked at the appearance of two more ninjas, but agreeing with Kayla's assessment, Maedoc moves the sphere of fire by force of will as he considers his options. Perhaps I can lock them down... "Osslend, can you restrain that ninja?" he cries as he shifts his attention to the ground beneath the newcomers. Perhaps some trickery is in order. With that, he takes a bit of fleece from his pouch and tears it apart, tossing it in the air. Suddenly, Kayla (or an illusion therof) appears once more, standing near one of the trees in the room. Glancing about as if terrified, the illusion looks toward the nearest ninja and screams.

Garrick, meanwhile, returns to Maedoc's falconry glove, pleased to have been of help.

Heh, almost used Stone's Call, but then I realized that it has a 40 ft, not 10 ft. radius. That could have been bad.

Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere lasts for 4 more rounds.
Kayla is invisible for 3 more rounds.
Illusion is there for concentration (max 5) +3 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Move Action: Move the Flaming Sphere from G8 diagonally to E6, then up to E4.

Standard Action: Cast Major Image, creating an illusion of Kayla as described in C3. If interacted with, the ninjas must make a DC18 will save to disbelieve. It is set to react appropriately to attacks and such.

Garrick: Flies back to Maedoc's hand.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Per the text for Invisibility (vanish being a shorter version of invis), it looks like it would render her visible if the ninjas are included in the area of effect. Not sure offhand how that interacts with Selective Channeling, though.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Pleased that Garrick has completed his task, and that Kayla is safe for now, Maedoc focuses his attention on the visible, unparalyzed ninja. Best to do what I can now... he thinks as he focuses on the ninja's weapon. Not likely that I'll have a use for this later. He breathes out a fiery word, and watches in satisfaction as the ninja's weapon glows red hot.

Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere lasts for 5 more rounds.
Kayla is invisible for 4 more rounds

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Burning Disarm against the Ninja in G6. If the ninja makes a DC16 reflex save, then he can drop his weapon and take no damage. If he doesn't make the save, then he takes the fire damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 3, 2) = 15

Flaming Sphere is still sitting on the paralyzed ninja in G8. The ninja gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1) = 10

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc concentrates for a moment and moves the fireball after a ninja by force of will. Thinking quickly, he mutters a quick phrase, creating a soft blue light that moves from his hand to Garrick's talon. "Go now, to Shinami," Maedoc mutters in the strange clucking language that he uses with his familiar. I hope that Kayla knows how to take advantage of this...

Garrick flies quickly over to Kayla, touching her for the briefest instant and causing her to disappear.

Munch Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere lasts for 6 more rounds.
Kayla is invisible for 5 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Move Action: Move the Flaming Sphere from J5 down to J8, then to G8. Ninja in G8 gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) = 12
*cheers for paralysis penalties*

Standard Action: Cast Vanish for Garrick to deliver. (per familiar Deliver Touch Spells ability)

Garrick:
Move Action: Fly from M7 to J7.
Standard Action: Use Vanish on Kayla.

Hopefully this helps defensively.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Gave a good trip, Ed.

*grumbling to self* Stupid, unpredictable meetings. Post incoming.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Working without the map right now; feel free to modify things appropriately for this round (in the interest of keeping things moving).

Maedoc nods as Osslend sends Raleigh toward him. Best offense is a good defense, sometimes. Perhaps I can distract them at least... Moving carefully so as to not dislodge Garrick from his privileged position on the hawking glove, Maedoc reaches into his spell pouch and pulls out a small. Carefully tearing it open, Maedoc blows on the powder, sending it toward the ninjas. As the powder reaches the nearest ninja, it coagulates into an oddly spongy sphere of fiery doom.

Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere is in effect for the next 7 rounds.

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Flaming Sphere on the nearest ninja. Then ninja gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) = 16

Tentatively holding position right now.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Mah email is bailar dahht john @ gmail dawt com

Apologies again for relatively late posts; should be able to post a wee bit earlier tomorrow.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc, terrified by the sudden attack, doesn't answer the ninja, but instead fumbles a piece of leather from his spell pouch and wraps it around his index finger. With a quickly whispered word, the leather fuses together into a single ring, and a shimmering shield of force surrounds the wizard. He carefully backs away from where the ninjas appeared, mentally wishing that Garrick would flee.

Garrick, getting the terrified emotions from Maedoc, refuses to leave, instead flying to perch on the falconry glove that Maedoc has.

Sorry Kayla, only one of those prepared.

Crunch:

Standard Action: Maedoc casts Mage Armor on himself. His AC is now 17.
Concentration check to cast defensively (DC17): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Success.
Move Action: 5-ft step back if the ninjas appeared near Maedoc, movement behind the others if not.

Garrick flaps his little wings to get over to Maedoc.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Apologies for the delay; busy day today. I'll probably be posting relatively late tomorrow as well.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc nods thankfully to Thobir as he returns the scroll to the dwarf, glad that Garrick has returned to him safe and sound. "Did you have fun with this?" he asks in the strange clucking language he uses with the bird. Garrick doesn't deign to respond, instead preening himself idly as he sits on Maedoc's hawking glove.

Maedoc joins in as the others introduce themselves to Shinami, nodding distractedly and entering the apartments the others talk to the new crewmember. Hrrm. Of course they will give an assignment tomorrow. Need to plan spell choices now, though. Divinations? Yes, some should be prepared--not sure what though. Perhaps another Dispel as well... the energy resistance did nothing. Or invisibility? That is always handy, and Garrick could do with some more scouting; he needs to fly more. Personal defence? Of course; the guards will not be pleased that we killed one of them, and this prince sounds likely to be a vengeful individual. He jerks his head up as Osslend questions Shinami, suddenly attentive. "Ah, yes. Any news on your capabilities would be most welcome. I have spells to prepare and, well..." he spreads his hands helplessly, making Garrick squawk and hop to the ground. It's best if I know what I'mm working with, so to speak."

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Hai thar.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc nods to himself as the others talk to him. "It appears that water does weaken the tome while fire strengthens it--excellent call by Kayla. Perhaps your dogs would like to do the honors, Osslend? I *think* that most any method will work as long as it is submerged, but I could be wrong." He makes a sweeping gesture toward the tome before glancing over at the dogs. Anything that works is most welcome... but it appears that we will be successful as long as we destroy this promptly. Might as well see what the others' preference is.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc focuses on the book, frowning as he considers the possibilities. Read it? No, probably too dangerous. Dispel? Not an option again. Mundane means? Perhaps, but they will not be terribly effective. Perhaps Kayla is correct... Seeing no harm in at least trying, he lowers the book into the stream as he considers the possibilities.

Meanwhile, high in the air a ways away, Garrick starts preening himself.

Crunch:

Know(Arcana) check to see if he picks anything up: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Maedoc lowers the tome into the water.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc nods thankfully to Kayla and smiles slightly, pleased to see the tome at last. "Quite clever work there, I must admit. Now let us bend to destroying it, shall we?" With that, his eyes, which still burn with an inner fire, light up and target the tome, causing it to burst into flame. "Quickly now--the quicker we finish, the better our performance, I believe."

More Crunchy Bits!:

I'm assuming that I still have a round or two of Burning Gaze available.

Standard Action: Burning Gaze attack against the tome.
It takes 1d6 fire damage and is lit on fire, burning for an additional 1d6 each round, presumably until it burns to a crisp.

Edit: Forgot to roll fire damage.
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc shrugs at the Orc's comments. No way that he knows where the scroll is... and we've already cleared out all five of them. Let's see here... what is that aura though.

He approaches the transmutation aura to examine it further. Might be it... but let's take a better look.

Crunch:
Maedoc doesn't necessarily join the others, but he goes to wherever the transmuted item is.

Where is the transmutation aura, anyways? Probably should have asked that earlier (smart one me).

Spellcraft check to determine what's going on (as I don't want to waste my Dispel). If it's likely the tome, then he casts Dispel magic on it.

Spellcraft Check to ID: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Dispel Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Ow. Probably not dispelled then. Ah well, I guess I'll just start burning things if it's likely the object. Or get Kayla to dispel.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Barely noticing Bryce's moment of glory as he considers auras, Maedoc frowns at the transmutation aura and moves closer for a better look. "Ah, thank you, Osslend. You and your hounds were quite effective as well. It looks like there's something that's been transformed here, but I'm not sure what it is... Might be the book." He shrugs slightly as he considers the aura. "I doubt it's a trap, anyways. I can try and dispel it, but one never does know what might happen. Any preferences?"

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc narrows his eyes as the rifle disappears, wondering what could have caused such a thing. Noting that Garrick is still calm, he nods to himself before glancing over the field of battle once more. The tome HAS to be around here somewhere. Seeing that the dwarf is apparently well in hand, he focuses inward for a moment, chanting one of the first phrases taught to him by Grayson before opening his eyes just as he claps his hands together. Suddenly, the world seems different, everything is outlined in silvery shades as Maedoc focues on the magic around him instead of the mundane. Nodding with satisfaction, he focuses on where the gun was for a moment, taking in the scene around him.

[spoiler=Crunchy bits]
Burning Gaze is in effect on Maedoc for the next 4 rounds.
Haste is in effect for 1 more round.
-Haste is on Bryce, Brynn, Osslend, Virgil, and Raleigh
-Haste benefits:
-- +1 Attack at highest attack bonus when making a full attack action.
-- +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
-- +30 ft. to all forms of movement.
Detect Magic Round 1: Maedoc can spot Magical Auras

Know(Arcana) check to ID what might have made the rifle disappear (although I have a sneaking suspicion...). The modifier is the same if Spellcraft is more appropriate: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Maedoc casts Detect Magic. Maedoc now can see magical auras withing a 60ft. cone of him. He is looking south right now.

Garrick:
Still hiding 100' in the air, and probably liable to get shot if what I think happened happened.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Fine with me as well, and thankya for the compliment.

Org was always nice, but just too crowded, imo.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc, noting the dwarf's descent, continues moving around to the top of the waterfall, still scanning the area for the tome. As the dwarf the ground, Maedoc's eyes glow with fire once more, heating the air around the dwarf.

Crunch:

Burning Gaze is in effect on Maedoc for the next 5 rounds.
Haste is in effect for 2 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Perception Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Also (as I keep forgetting), I think he gets a +3 to that perception check if the area they're in is brightly lit, due to the hawk familiar bonus.

Standard Action: Use Burning Gaze attack on Rognar.
Rognar gets a DC 18 Fortitude save. If he fails, then he takes 1d6 Fire damage and must make a reflex save (DC 18) or catch on fire.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Rognar's still on fire. He gan make a Reflex save to quench the flames, failure means he takes another 1d6 damage. If he put this out (and I just missed it), then he gets another Reflex save if he misses the Fort. Save above.

Move Action: Move from H5 to L3

Garrick:
Still 100' in the air, perched on a suitable branch.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Apologies for the delay in posting--my internet has been spotty the last few days. New post incoming.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Frowning as the half-orc disappears, Maedoc starts to sweat nervously once more. I should have prepared for this.... he thinks to himself as he glances about for the orc. Should have readied... something... Hearing a commotion on the cliff, he glances up in time to see Bryce and the dwarf struggling. "Finish with her and find the tome!" he cries to his allies as they struggle with Sionnan before moving to join Bryce at the top of the hill. As he moves, he directs his now-fiery gaze at the dwarf. Burn, ambusher! he thinks as his eyes turn a molten red and steam comes out his ears. Even as he does so, he continues to scan for the opponent's tome. Destroy that, and all of this is done... But where is it?

Garrick continues to perch in the forest, hoping that no one will notice him high among the trees. The bird rightfully notes that he is visible once more, but continues to sit still.

Let me know if Maedoc couldn't notice what's going on up on the cliff.

Crunch:

Burning Gaze is in effect on Maedoc for the next 6 rounds.
Garrick is invisible no more.
Haste is in effect for 3 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Perception check to look for the tome: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Move Action: Move from E8 to H5.
Standard Action: (Assuming that this is viable) Use Burning Gaze on the Dwarf. Dwarf gets a DC 18 Fortitude save. If he fails, then he takes 1d6 Fire damage and must make a reflex save (DC 18) or catch on fire.

If that is not viable, then Maedoc directs his gaze toward Sionnan, if she's still a threat.

If she has been neutralized (dead or unconscious), then he uses Detect Magic to try and see if the scroll is hiding somewhere within a 60' cone from his position toward the cliff.

Hopefully that covers all scenarios. :P

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc nods in approval as the Halfling goes down and Sionnan is struck. Frowning slightly, he considers the half-orc as he runs through his options. Finally coming to a decision, he "Let's how you handle this," he mutters as he directs his attention to the half orc and draws a withered eyeball from his spell pouch. Muttering a quick incantation, he swallows the eye. Suddenly, his own eyes appear to be lit by an internal fire, and he looks toward the orc with a new readiness. Hopefully we can break the enchantress' concentration... But for now, distract the orc.

Suddenly, Garrick (or at least an image of Garrick) flies screaming out of the forest, scroll in its talons. It flies just over the Half-orc, looking likely to go to the top of the cliff and fly on.

Garrick, meanwhile, starts to descend as he moves into the forest and looks for a perch.

Crunch:

Burning Gaze is in effect on Maedoc for the next 7 rounds. (5 rounds normally +2 from Generation specialization)
Garrick is invisible for 1 more round.
Haste is in effect for 4 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Maedoc casts Burning Gaze. He can now burn things by looking at them.

Also, can Maedoc see the tome that they're after anywhere?
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Move Action: Maedoc moves to E8.

Garrick: Double Move from E10 to A6, descending all the way.
Garrick is now 100' in the air, looking for a place to land and hide.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Before doing anything else, here's a spellcraft check for Maedoc to try and identify the spell as it was being cast. If the spell happens to be an evocation spell (which I find doubtful), then Maedoc gets a +2 to the spellcraft check.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24. The DC for this is 15+spell level.
If Sionnan's not in sight for some reason, switch the above to a Know(Arcana) check for a spell cast on Maedoc, which ups the DC by 10.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc frowns as the orc shrugs off his spell. Reaching into his pack, he takes out a yellowed scroll and unrolls it. The words flow quickly off his tongue, and Osslend, Bryce, Brynn, and the dogs can all feel something energizing them, allowing them to move more quickly.

Meanwhile Garrick, realizing that the earlier spell is coming to an end, carefully lifts off, heading for the other forest.

Crunch:

Garrick is invisible for 2 more rounds.
Glitterdust is finished as the Halfling made his save.
Haste is in effect for 5 rounds.

Enjoy!

Maedoc:
Move Action: Retrieve Scroll of Haste
Standard Action: Cast Haste

Garrick:
Move Action: Fly while ascending, moving from M12 to G12.
Movev Action: Fly while ascending, 5' to turn 45'. moving from G12 to E10.

Stealth Check as he flies: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42

Garrick should be 150' high right now. How tall are the trees in the forest?

Have at them!

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

I have the Halfling at J10, the Orc at J7, and Kayla at E12 (just by the gate). Other than that, the numbers I have coincide with yours.

Hrrm. I can oblige with that Dispel, Bryce, but I'm thinking it might be worthwhile to save it and pop a haste right now, using it on Brynn, You, Osselend, and the dogs. That way, you can all take a full attack this round with an extra attack, and get the other benefits of Haste for the following 4 rounds (extra movement, bonus to AC, CMD, and Reflex). Might be enough to put the human, the orc, and maybe even Sionnan out of action.

Thoughts? I'll post my move tomorrow morning, assuming no complaints.

Also, apologies for late post--I saw Ed's earlier today and was waiting for a response.
Edit: To clarify, I was monitoring the threads, and didn't see any "new post" notifiers, which I generally use to poke my head in and make decisions. My bad.

Edit 2: And here's a link to Haste for the curious.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Seeing the orc float gently down the waterfall, Maedoc covers his mouth with his free hand as he mutters a single word. Closing his hand as if grasping that word, he then hurls it forward, pointing toward the Half-Orc. A single wave of sound suddenly strikes at the Half-Orc, ringing loudly in his ears but no one else's.

That done, he slips a little bit deeper into the forest, hoping to escape retribution for the time being. "Don't forget: We need to destroy the book!" he yells as he slips away.

Garrick, meanwhile, maintains his position, perched 100' up in a tree, hiding and carefully holding the scroll.

Do you want me to continue controlling Garrick, or would you rather do it, as there may be things for him to react to that I won't know about?

Crunch:

Garrick is invisible for 3 more rounds.
Glitterdust persists for 4 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Standard action: Cast Ear Piercing Scream on the Half-Orc. The orc must make a DC17 Fortitude save (thanks to Spell Focus) or take 2d6 Sonic damage and be dazed for a round. A successful save negates the Daze and halves the damage.
Damage Roll:
2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

Move Action: Maedoc moves from D10 to B8.

Garrick:
Stealth Check, +40 from invisibility and standing still:
1d20 + 43 ⇒ (8) + 43 = 51

Edit: Oops, forgot to make this on Maedoc. Also added end ooc and spoiler tags.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Cool. Just wanted to make sure--better safe than sorry, I figure.

Alright Ed, one Ear Piercing scream coming up.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Hrrm. I'm open to suggestions here for what Maedoc does. Debating between trying to disarm the human, daze the orc, or just haste our entire party. Any preferences? Currently leaning toward haste. I'll check back in and make my decision in 2 hours or so, if that's acceptable.

GM, if you'd prefer that we don't discuss this OOC while in combat, then I'll go ahead and post with Maedoc casting Haste.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Making a perception check and then holding off momentarily.
Also, I'm glad you like the format, Brynn :)

Crunch:

Perception Check:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Same. I installed the program, logged in, and so forth, but it still tells me that I need a login.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

GM DSP:
Here are the checks:
Fly Check:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Stealth Check (+20 from Invisibility):
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (13) + 23 = 36

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Heart pounding, Maedoc debates his options. I could disappear only to surprise them later... but what good would that do? Hmm. Perhaps I should armor myself... but what good would that do if I'm not attacked?

As the Orc slows the descent of his allies, Maedoc comes to a decision. Muttering a few prayers that he is making the correct choice, he tells Brynn "Cover your eyes for a moment." With that, he takes a small chip of mica from his spell pouch and concentrates on it, holding it in the air and saying a single word before pointing it toward the halfling and human. Suddenly, golden particles appear around the two, blazing brightly and settling on them and any nearby objects. After this, he hurries out of the gateway, heading for the northern woods.

Meanwhile, Garrick continues flying overhead, taking a different tack and heading for the other side of the arena.

Crunch::

Garrick is invisible for 4 more rounds.
Maedoc:
Standard Action: Cast Glitterdust. It affects the following squares: H8, H9, I7-I10, J7-J10, K8, and K9.
Anything invisible in the area is outlined in the particles, and the human and Halfling get will saves against DC17 to avoid being blinded.
If they fail, then they are blinded for the next 5 rounds, but receive a new save at the end of their turns each round.

Move Action: Maedoc moves from D13 to E12 to E11 to D10. (hopefully that's all kosher).

Garrick:
Move action: Garrick continues to ascend, turning and moving in a line from L12 to N10

Move Action: Garrick turns and moves again, flying from N10 to K7 in a straight line.
Garrick is now 100' in the air.

Garrick Perception:
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Post is up. Let me know if you want me to format things differently. Also, I'm 99% certain that the fly check was unnecessary, but let me know if it was needed (which would be bad, as I rolled a 1).

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

After taking a deep breath to try and calm his nerves, Maedoc nods thankfully to Tobir as he hands the scroll off. We'll see if this plan works as well as I hope... Gods, let me have prepared the right tools for this combat! Nodding to show his readiness to the others, he hands the scroll off to Garrick, petting the bird's head as he does so. "This is it my friend, fly carefully now." he says in the strange language he uses when addressing the bird.

After a moment, Maedoc makes a strange gesture over Garrick while releasing a single syllable--causing the bird to disappear. A faint sound of flapping wings is audible to the group as the bird takes off with the scroll in his talons, headed into the field of battle.

Crunch:

Maedoc:
Move Action: Give Scroll to Garrick
Standard Action: Cast Vanish on Garrick. Garrick is invisible for 5 rounds.

Garrick:
Stat Changes: Flight Speed: 55', Maneuverability: Poor
Move Action: Fly, ascending 45 degrees from D13 to E12 to G12. Garrick is 25' in the air.
Move Action: Fly, still ascending at 45' from G12 to L12. Garrick is 50' in the air.

Garick Perception Check (in case he sees anything while flying). He can't tell Garrick, but he can send any emotional reaction over his empathic link.
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

Edit: Oh, and here's a Fly check, in case he needs it, although I think he's good to go:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Most excellent. I'll be posting momentarily, then.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Have a rough map sketched out in Excel; waiting to hear if Garrick can carry the scroll (which, in retrospect, I should have checked earlier) before posting. Will probably give the scroll to Garrick, cast "Vanish" on him, and then move into the field, sending Garrick to one of the forests to hide.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Fine with me.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Vulf's combat option seems a little overpowered (said the man who will be smiting >.>). Maybe change it from a dance check to his ranks in Perform (Dance)? That way, it scales with level still, and at the same rate as his bonus to Perform (Dance).

Edit: Gah! Barbarian post ninja!

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

As the others start sleeping, Maedoc glances over toward Brynn. "I suppose that we should get some sleep as well, hmm? That includes you, Garrick." The hawk nips at him playfully as Maedoc stands and stretches. "A pleasure meeting you, and good night." He goes to his cot to try and sleep, thoughts of different approaches to the trial swirling through his head. Garrick, meanwhile, hops to the top of the back of Garrick's chair, making some bird noises to Brynn before going to sleep himself.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Yup, works for me. I'll just call it 15, against the off chance that I need to squeeze more stuff in there. Thanks!

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Ok, finally purchased items. How much would you price a nice, well-padded box for alchemical munitions and the like at, DSP?

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc, checking in.

I'll be around this weekend, but more RP never hurts. Also, I have a working list of mundane items that I'll be adding later today.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc scratches his beard as he considers the others' words. "I'm all for pushing at them and trying to destroy their tome, while using misdirection to hide ours. I have a few tricks that should prove useful for that." He smiles and looks over to Garrick. "Perhaps having an invisible bird flying about with the scroll would be handy, wouldn't it, Garrick?" The bird hisses (insofar as a bird can hiss) in response to this comment before picking at his food again.

Maedoc laughs as he continues. "Umm. I can try to lock them in place with a few spells, and do at least a little bit of countering their own arcanist. Other than that..." He shrugs and toys with his dagger a bit. "I'll prepare a few surprises and see what opportunities present themselves. After all, 'No plan survives first contact with the enemy,' yes?"

And now I get to test that advice out. Grayson, did you know that you were preparing me for such things when you started to train me?

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Additionally, we might want to think about defense a bit. If the area is fairly open, then BlackLight might be the way to go. It creates a burst of darkness that the caster (i.e. Maedoc) can still see through. As I mentioned in Maedoc's thoughts, he could also make the scroll invisible for 5 rounds and/or create an illusory version of it for the enemies to try to destroy.

While I have some defensive thoughts for dealing with the scroll, it occurs to me that it might be more efficient to just give it to Garrick and have him hide (assuming that a Hawk can handle it). Then, Maedoc can concentrate on bringing the pain (Potentially with Flaming Sphere followed by disarms, loud screams to daze, glitterdust to blind, Grease etc.).

We could pass the scroll to Garrick on Round 1, Invisibility (swapping Major Image out for it) on him, and away he goes for a few minutes. Meanwhile, have one of the vanishes switched to Silent Image in case we need an illusory scroll.

Damn you, Wizard! So many options, so few actions/round!

I guess that I should finish shopping today then, eh?
...Guess whose least favorite part of character creation is item selection ;)

Maedoc takes some bread, beef, and mixed vegetables, and piles assorted meats onto another plate for Garrick. He eats using the bread to scoop up the other things on his plate. As he chews, he idly watches Garrick tear into the meat set aside for him, occasionally making a comment in the strange, birdlike speech that he uses with his familiar. Taking a sip from his mead, he listens in as Kayla and Brynn discuss their plan of attack. "Hopefully that will be possible. I have a few tricks that should prove useful. Ummm. Thobir, will we be able to examine the scroll beforehand, or will we get it during the trial?"

Craft an illusion to create a false scroll for them to chase, hide ours and make it disappear if need be... perhaps pass to Garrick? Hmm. Alternatively, call darkness on the scroll, perhaps followed by illusion formation. Slick up the floor to deal with the other group, then focus on the defensive end... Should discuss this after dinner. With a slight smile, he scoops up more food and takes a bite, savoring the flavors. Almost there! Grayson will be pleased, I'm sure.

Maedoc nods in response to Bryce's question. "Indeed, he is my familiar. As far as tricks up my sleeves... well, let's just say that I have quite a few." He smiles slightly as he snaps and four small lights appear at the end of his fingers. "Minor tricks and a few things more... ah, substantial. The key, of course, is preparation." With a wave of his hand, the lights fade away, and he reaches into his pack for his spellbook, which is still wrapped up. "Let me know if you have anything in mind, and I'll see what I can do. I can create fire and illusions, allow people to fly, stun people with a scream, and more. Hmm... let me see..."

With that, he begins to give Bryce a detailed accounting of the resources he has on hand, as well as the spells that he can prepare. So caught up is he in this rendition that he hardly even notices the Barbarian's entrance.

Maedoc frowns slightly as he watches Garrick poke around on the table. "I don't think that Garrick would appreciate that.... although he might find some entertainment if it's a small cat." He sighs at the bird before moving over to him and scratching him lightly on the head. "Please don't mind him, Thobir. He's a curious one in the best of times."

Finally purchased some wands and stuff. Below (and on my profile) is a list of magical consumables and spells prepared for tomorrow, and I'll pick up mundance/alchemical items in a bit. Any thoughts on these while I can still change them?

Also, I added a profile section called "Salient Houserules" that has the info on Wands, if you want to copy it for reference, Kayla (as I think it would only be of interest to you).

I'll be consolidating the "Scrolls Purchased to Learn..." section with my spells known after we finish prepping (for easier reference), and might even alphabetize them.

Edit: Also, how closely do you want us to track our carried weight, DSP? Is that a concern for you, or are we fine as long as we don't try and do something ridiculous (like run around with 500 potions and say we have a light load, for instance)?

Edit 2: Oops, back checked my math, and I had too much stuff. Removed a Wand of Shield to correct for this.
