INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Here. Though the new format of the forums makes it super-hard to find pages.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Poke?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

With one fallen, Leo moves to step up to the next...

Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

... and finds himself entangled.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo finishes his lumbering advance and gets into striking distance.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hello!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo's armor jangles as he jogs around the bend, hustling as fast as he can to reach the edge of the entangle area.

Double move.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Wait wait..." says Leo at Daichi's mention of the bowl. "Hang on, this is a ceremonial bowl, it's not just decorative. It's here as um... what's the word... a font. For holy water, I think."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Leo says, "This is a sacred site sanctified to Desna, the dream-goddess. This is odd... it's very well-kept, while the rest of the town is in ruins."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I don't see any catapults or other defenses here in the ruins. What could've wrecked the ship like that?" Leo wonders aloud.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Sounds good to me," says Leo, before proceeding cautiously to the town hall's front door. He takes a moment to peek in the windows in case of any obvious threats.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Leo turns over bits of rubble and stone with his toe, all the while keeping sword and shield at hand.

"Hey, what's this?" he says, and steps back. "A box?" He gestures with his sword to an old strongbox in the ruins.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Shall we secure the lighthouse first?" asks Leo. "Then work our way south along the cliffside and check the buildings as we go."

Surveying the remains of the village, he says, "It doesn't seem like anyone lives here anymore. We should be prepared for this place to be overrun with... I dunno, centipedes and other animals that have crept in."

He draws his sword, just in case.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo pauses to rest a hand on Ameiko's forehead and says softly, "We'll figure this out." Then he hefts his gear and calls to Sandru, "Don't go anywhere without us! And stay out of sight, no telling what might come out of that castle if we rustle it up!"

"All right," he says in a normal tone as he turns back to the team, "let's go get to the bottom of this." He hefts his shield and moves up to the front of the group to put his armor to good use.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo raises one eyebrow as Kazariah completely misunderstands him and mischaracterizes him as some kind of unfeeling monster, but shrugs and says nothing.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Looking concerned, Leo watches as Ameiko is taken back to one of the wagons. He says, "She's the whole reason we're here. Now what? I don't think we should give up, but if we can't wake her up, what do we do if we discover something important?"

He sighs. "We really just... have to carry on, I suppose."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo plants his feet, keeps his shield up, and slashes again with his long sword. The steel blade flickers in the dappled forest light as he brings it sweeping sideways against a foe that does not have the good fortune to have a shield or sword of its own to counter his strikes.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Is there a link to a map? Can I get to a spider within 20'? If not, do I have a charge lane to a spider within 40'?

EDIT: nm, found map.

Leo moves to assist Derric.

"On your right!" he shouts as he tromps heavily across the dirt track toward the spider.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Quick note, I am not waiting for the spiders to come to me, I am just out of actions. Move action to get off the seat and onto the ground, draw sword as part of move, standard converted to move to ready shield.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo pulls the reins in on the horse to bring the wagon he's driving to a halt, and hops down from the driver's seat to the ground. As he stands from the jump, he pulls his sword and shield into position.

Move down from driving a wagon, ready shield and sword - that leaves me next to the wagon but armed.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

While other folks are packing, Leo is busy loading supplies onto Sandru's wagons. He seems familiar with the horses as well, and even helps to drive the carts to pick up various crates and foodstuffs.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

While running JR I found that not using the caravan interlude put the players a level behind where they should be for Brinewall Castle. I instead made a series of smaller encounters (a couple ambushes, a murder mystery while stopping in Wolf's Ear for provisions) to get the PCs to level 3 before they tackled the castle.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Suits me fine.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hmm. I don't really want/need any of the gear there, but we might get the broken wakizashi fixed so that Derric can use it.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Did we ever finalize the loot split from selling stuff that Ameiko let us keep? Do we know how much cash we have?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo's been at leisure about town for a few days. When Ameiko assembles her A-team in her restaurant, he seems a bit surprised, then a wide grin splits his face.

Varisian:
"Sandru! You're back in town! I hadn't expected to see you again so soon."

He moves up to offer a handshake to Sandru.

"Of course I'd be happy to help," he says in response to Ameiko's request.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I'm sure there are more than enough dishes to keep three people busy, Derric. We can have some music after the chores are done. Speaking of which, how can I help out?" says Leo.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Oh, hello there! Why you're just a big kitty!" says Leo. He slowly moves from his chair and hunkers down, letting the big cat get nose to nose with him.

Handle animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Oh! Um, my name's Leodegrance, but most folks just call me Leo," says Leo. He touches his face and looks surprised. "Must've gotten it while swinging steel against the skeletons and things out in the swamp. It'll clear right up in a day or two." He smiles and then goes, "Ouch! Now that I've noticed it I sure feel it when I smile! Not to worry, I've survived worse. Nothing like one of Ameiko's spicy dishes to take your mind off of everything else..."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Hey, I'm happy for the meal and for keeping the goblins quiet for a season," says Leo with a smile. He nods to Kaz and replies, "Yep, grew up here! Lived in Sandpoint all my life."

Despite the muddy boots and the nasty bruise on the side of his face, he seems like an easygoing, charming man.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I've worked for Sandru in the past.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Ooo, anticipation!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Great! I'd rather not carry it all day, anyway," says Leo with a smile.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"So, should we take this beast to Ameiko?" says Leo, shaking the chest ever so slightly.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Nope! I'm just a dumb meatstick! :D

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

*knock knock*

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo helpfully hoists the box, though this keeps both of his hands full.

"Er... which way did we not go yet?" he asks as the team reaches the intersection.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Wasted had some serious health problems last year, it's possible that has recurred. Last time he was gone for about a month and then showed up to let people know what's up. I'm sure he won't mind if we move on in the meantime.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Hmm. Get the chest back first, yeah. No need to risk a goblin ambush once they realize they don't need us any more, now that we've dealt with the bony men."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo lets out a breath and hooks his warhammer back onto his belt. He puts a hand on Daichi's shoulder and says, "Why all the fireworks? Odd. We'd definitely better check with Ameiko about all this stuff."

Lay on Hands, healing Daichi: 1d6 ⇒ 5

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Leo grunts and swings his warhammer again in a broad arc, aiming to batter down the skeletal warrior's guard with a powerful blow.

Warhammer attack, bless: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Warhammer damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Then he brings the hammer up and arcs it down at the skeleton's skull.

Warhammer attack, bless: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Warhammer damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I'm waiting on my round 2 action to see what the rest of the team finishes up for round 1. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Haha me make an acrobatics check! That is comical.

I am willing to withdraw if we need to do that to get to a better position.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Well, if you need a specific spot filled (healer, diplomat, etc.), I can make a character. I am currently in a different II group that just started, where I'm playing a lizardfolk ranger.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

We're kinda choke-pointed in. Maybe next round I should try to wreck one of the subordinate skeletons so I can shift over and make room?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Same here. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

True to his word, Leo moves to strike at the armored samurai skeleton. "I don't know what he said," says Leo, "but I hope he's not expecting a one-on-one duel."

Swift action: Activate Weal's Champion.

Weal's Champion:
Once per day as swift action, a holy tactician can call on the powers of good to aid her against evil. Against evil targets, the holy tactician gains her Charisma bonus (if any) on her attack rolls against evil creatures, and if she hits, she adds 1/2 her paladin level on her weapon damage rolls as well. These bonuses last for 1 round for every two paladin levels the holy tactician has attained (minimum 1 round). In addition, for 1 round after the holy tactician successfully strikes an evil creature, all non-evil allies within 30 feet of her gain a competence bonus on attack rolls equal to 1/2 her Charisma bonus against that creature as well as a +1 competence bonus on damage rolls. The bonus on damage rolls increases by +1 for every five levels the holy tactician attains (to a maximum of +5 at 20th level). She can grant this bonus against more than one creature at a time. To gain this benefit, the holy tactician’s allies must be able to see or hear her, and she must be conscious.
At 4th level, and every three levels thereafter, the holy tactician may use weal’s champion one additional time per day (to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level).
This ability replaces smite evil.

Warhammer attack w/bless: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 (additional +3 if he's evil)
Warhammer damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 (additional +1 if he's evil)

If he's evil and I hit, every nonevil ally in 30' gets a +1 competence bonus to attack and damage against him only for the next round.

Derric wrote:
Quick question for when it's my turn: can I use challenge on the skeleton leader (who I'm guessing is Tsutamu) and then charge it at the same time?

Samurai class challenge is a swift action, so that should work unless you have some weird archetype or feature that alters it!

Leo nods in response to his brother's comment and turns to focus his attention at the skeleton in the ornate armor.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Uhhh... Kiko? Derric? What did it say?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"That armor's very distinctive. Must've been a leader of some kind," says Leo of the skeleton seated on the chest as he prepares his warhammer.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Sure thing." Leo hoists his shield and follows his brother.
