Hey y'all! I'm just letting everyone know this but something is up with my laptop's wifi so I can't get online as much until I can fix it. Might take me awhile. So please go ahead and bot me. Sorry about all of this!
GM_CariMac
Who's there? I was just thinking about pushing this forward last night, and see who's still here.
Derric
I'm still here.
And please don't let this campaign die!
I really like this campaign and I want to see it to the end (if possible).
GM_CariMac
I've asked a new player to join our merry band. Now is a great time to add another player since we're about to move into part 3 of the first book.
Zanbabe
Hi everyone. Will have a character to join you soon.
Since the story has obviously progressed past the player's guide, is there any updated information about Ameiko, Shalelu, Koya, and Sandru that I need to know?
(I promise to read through the story so far; just want a short update if possible to help me with backstory / choosing a campaign trait.)
GM_CariMac
Ameiko has just received an interesting letter from the PCs. The other three haven't been in the story much yet.
They all will have things to do very soon.
I'm the third or fourth GM for this group so there hasn't been a lot of continuity in the story to date.
Three of the PC's have connections to Ameiko,
Daichi works for her.
Derric is in love with her, but she doesn't know.
Kiko is a family member.
Jayna has a connection to Shalelu.
I'm not sure who Leo's connection is to.
Daichi Konjou
Daichi's a member of a family that's been working for Ameiko's for a generations. His ancestors came across the Crown with the Amatatsus when they fled Minkai, and his parents worked for Lonjiku before Ameiko was born. He's been Ameiko's manservant since they were both teenagers, though he was left in Sandpoint when she ran off on her adventuring days. He's also the reincarnation of one of the Amatatsu family's guardian kami, but no one knows that, including him.
He's basically a hyper-competent and battle capable butler. Anyone who knows Ameiko has definitely met him before, and probably knows him at least a bit.
Plot wise, things haven't changed much other than character stuff.
Zanbabe
Thanks guys. :)
What's Jayna's connection to Shalelu? I'm considering being connected to her as well.
Also, rolling for 2nd level HP:
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Oh, wow. ... Oh well, Desna has to have a reason, and we will find out what it is in time. :)
How about Variant Aasimar abilites? Roll for one and take the option if you like it better, or how do you do it?
CariMac
Go ahead and take half on the HP.
Jayna was rescued from some goblins when her adventuring group decided to leave her by Shalelu. She's a been bitter and thats been leading to trouble between her and the other group.
She's going to jump at the chance to get out of Sandpoint when it's offered.
Go for it on the Aasimar abilities.
Zanbabe
Okay, cool. I think that I am taking the rescued one as well. But that's probably cool, since Shalelu is probably rescuing people all the time. Hero worshiping her and having a crush on her could also be on the table, but they seem a little more forced, story-wise. Better to just have a connection and see how things develop. :)
I'm making a Divine Hunter who is well traveled and who is mainly an explorer, with a Drake Companion... baby Cold Drake she rescued from the far North, and brought down here to train with at the [Drake Training Organization name], which happens to be close enough to here that she travels here when not in training. Had to take a few years off exploring because it takes a long time to really bond with and learn to work with a drake, so has been doing work locally to pay [tuition/dues/rent] while in training, which is how she was rescued by Shelelu, while they were working together. Baby Drake [I'll have a name soon] doesn't listen, because Drakes just don't sometimes, and got into trouble because it still thinks it is cooler and more powerful than it is (but don't tell it that). My character [current name Kazelle, hates her name, goes by Kaz] almost died saving the drake, but Shelelu saved her just in time, and everything was okay, except embarrassment of course. Graduates in a few days from the training school, really itching to get back to exploring, and has been trying to talk Shelelu into coming with.
Variant Aasimar ability roll:
Here's hoping: 1d100 ⇒ 71
71 is "You gain sustenance from sunlight. Standing in direct sunlight for half an hour nourishes you as though you had just eaten a hearty meal. You still need to drink water."
Weird, but I'll take it. Nice flavor.
Any comments/suggestions so far? Need to transfer stuff into an alias, and then I'll post it. Will also make an alias for the Drake, since they are lazy and get bigger and smarter and need Diplomacy checks to do anything that reeks of effort, so there will probably be some attitude to play with there.
GM_CariMac
I like aliases for companions especially if they are acting on their own in combat. Familiars who stay in a pocket or under foot don't need one.
I did some quick research and I don't see a way Hunters can get a Drake Companion. I've only found five archetypes that allow for Drake Companions:
Draken Rider Cavalier
Draconic Druid
Silver Champion Paladin
Drake Warden Ranger I have a character with this in PFS.
Draconic Shaman
Zanbabe
Oh, okay. I've never played a hunter or druid before, so I just thought since they were listed on the animal companion list page I could take one. Will have to re-think that backstory because it doesn't take years to bond with the others, but I'll take some other cold-weather animal that can survive in temperate areas as well... maybe a polar bear, though polar bear isn't listed, just bear, so... hmm. Elk and Tiger (big cat) both have cold and temperate listed. And llamas, but just say no to llamas is what I say. I think I will go with Tiger.
GM_CariMac
A llama could be hilarious. Does it get a spit attack? Tigers are good. They have a claw, claw bite attack.
Kazariah
Still working, but this is probably enough to let you take a look. I haven't chosen weapons or bought equipment (most of that list is from a different character I was copying from. Will keep some but not all.)... also usually add more notes and stuff, but hey, I think the rest is done. ... take a look. Tell me I got anything wrong.
Looking forward to joining you. Sorry this is taking me so long.
GM_CariMac
Not too long at all. I'm happy your are joining us.
I now have an idea for a Druid with a Llama companion. Or a cavalier on a llama.

GM_CariMac
Not wrong at all. That would be epic. Now I need to figure out how to make it work.
GM_CariMac
I've go a loot list started. It's at the top of the page. None of the gear has been claimed yet. You should be able to edit the document.
Daichi Konjou
I suggest we divide the cure potions evenly, let Kiko (or someone else who wants to) hang on to the restoration potions for when we need them, and then sell whatever gear people don't intend to use. Personally, I don't really need or want anything from the list so I'm pretty good.
Derric
I agree with Daichi. And I'm still here y'all. Things just been very very busy at work and with other stuff, but I'm still here.
And welcome aboard Kaz!
Now, Derric is a kitsune samurai, and he usually wanders around in his true form, unless he has to be in his human form.
Derric
Lol! Yeah, I wanted to make him unique and I thought that would work. :)
And you're welcome!
Derric's connection with Ameiko is that when he came to Sandpoint as a child, she was the only one who treated him with kindness and friendship. It was because of her friendship that he has slowly fallen in love with her, but he's worried about admitting his true feelings for her as he dreads that it might drive her away and destroy their friendship.
Derric
Well, I asked James Jacobs a question if Ameiko would ever romance a kitsune and he said yes, saying that she doesn't judge people based on their race, religion, gender, etc., just on their actions and personalities. So, hopefully if I play my cards right, Derric and Ameiko might just fall in love with one another. :)
And thank you for the good luck!
Well, Ameiko is a noblewoman.
GM_CariMac
I'll move us on to part III tomorrow. Did you want to make any purchases before we move forward?
I'm going to give the team a wand of Cure Light Wounds 50 charges. Kiko hasn't posted in a couple of weeks, and I don't want you to be without a consistent source healing for part III. Jayna can UMD the wand or it's on Kazariah's spell list.
GM_CariMac
I don't think you did.
Here's the link to the loot sheet. Loot Sheet
Feel free to claim the unclaimed stuff and let me know if you want to sell the rest. There is currently 800 GP without selling anything.
GM_CariMac
That will be a process requiring 600 gp, a day’s work, and a DC 20 Craft
[weapons] check), attacks with the weapon take a –2 penalty due to the loose grip.
Savah’s Armory or Red Dog Smithy might be good places to check if no one can make the craft weapon check.
GM_CariMac
The book is very specific on how to fix it.
It's an amazing weapon and I think the writers want it to be a bit of a sacrifice to repair it.
The statblock for the weapon is, on the second tab of the loot sheet.
Daichi Konjou
Hmmm, alright. If we sell everything, then pay the 600, we're left with 2588. No offense Derric, but since you're taking Whispering Shrike, we should probably divide that up among everyone else since the sword is pretty good and very valuable. That leaves us with 647 gp a person. Is that okay with everyone?
Also, Kazariah, you might want to take the Masterwork Chain Shirt we found. It gives the same AC bonus as your Armored Coat, but gives you +4 Max Dex, -1 ACP, and 30 feet movement, which are all better. If you wanted that, I think it would be fair to take it out of you share of the cash, so you'd get 397 and everyone else gets 647. Or we can just sell it if you're happy with your armor and everyone gets an even share.
Does that sound solid to everyone?
Daichi Konjou
Ah. Was not aware of that.
Then sell everything and Leo, Daichi, and Jayna each get 862 gp with 2 gp that doesn't divide evenly.
