Okay I though we all got our first round concurrently, and that was when Aegis triggered combat.

Me too!

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I did not see anything on the Paizo blog post, nor do far on these forums, about all 1e information being taken down from aonprd?

I still much prefer playing 1e over 2e, I bought heavily into it right before 2e was announced, but even owning pdfs and physical books, aonprd has been an indispensable resource for me, just as a way to easily connect the disparate information, AND to learn WHICH source books I need to invest in! (Especially for Organized Play)

Why is there no information about the blocking of 1e content on AoN? Do people just... not care? Is it an extension of the issues with Wizards of the Coast?

Female Human

ANYWAY

I came on here to say I am very interested in playing season 1 & season 9 games
thanks, y'all

PbP Talk Like a Pirate Day will start on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 and run through Saturday, October 17th, 2015.

GMs can run any Pirate(ish) themed PFS scenario, or the Pirate themed PFS sanctioned APs. There will be booty.... errrrr.... boons and prizes.

I am... VERRRY excited!

It's also during mah BIRFDAY! <3
So - will definitely plan to play, at least. It's far enough in advance, I might even be capable of GMing!

@GM Batpony - I believe Caperinas were the second choice vote (Celeste & Angus), NOT Arpadors (if order matters)

(Elena & Grelthe chose Tullians 2nd)

Female Human

So we are obviously over time for this convention - has it been filed yet?
Is that why we should jut take Virml straight back to Shaine, jsut to end it?

I concur with Angus, they both have benefits - so play your preference.

Really my only concern might be if the level 4 would raise the difficulty tier for everyone else or not? But that is a GM question, and I chose a level 3 anyway, so have no space to talk to that

(I only just realized Grelthe is technically out of tier, so now I'm waffling back to Keiko. I will decide by end of day, regardless. UGH.

If you think my Cleric/Barbarian would be a better idea but he has very few skills. :(

As long as we have a variety of skills, no one person really NEEDS all of them - but I'm a general fan of having a Rogue in the party, that is what I usually main. Disable Device, Knowledge (Dungeoneering), Linguistics, Sense Motive, & Stealth probably the most usefult Skills from your Rogue Arioch.

Cleric Angus doesn't look like he has any Knowledge Skills? Even Religion?

My characters:
Valentina does have Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Planes), & Spellcraft, which we likely don't have elsewhere in the party?

But if I do take Grelthe, she does have quite a few skills, AND her Skald level can share Rage, which could be cool for your Barb (& any other STR based classes), but we wouldn't really NEED 3 partial healers either. So stick with what you want.
Grelthe has Knowledge (Nobility), Knowledge (Religion), Perform, Sense Motive, & Profession (Sailor)... (& Diplomacy, obvi).

Keiko has Acrobatics, Handle Animal, Ride, Knowledge (History), Knowledge (Local), & Stealth.

A-ha! This is an excellent point.

ONLY Keiko, the Zen Archer could not use a wand of CLW, having no spells and a UMD of 0.

Female Human

Hello, hello!

I'm trying to figure out what type of character to bring.

It looks like we have:
-> Horsetornado - Fighter 1 (Striker - Melee)
-> Lapyd with Elana Pilat (Slayer 1)
-> Pete H. with Cleric 1 (Medic/Support)
-> 7thGate with Celeste Durane (Cavalier 1)
-> Dan with Unchained Rogue 4

I see we don't really have a magic user in the group, but I don't really play magic characters, OOPS. My only magic character: My Magus Valentina sacrifices some spellcasting, so only gets 2 level 1 spells a day. Maud (Shaman) & Zehameti (Bard) have a mild splash of magic, but really mostly only to benefit their own combat.

I'm open to suggestions: Grelthe or Keiko would probably be my default RP first choices? Grelthe might work well with the Cavalier, depending on subclass - she shares teamwork feats. (Oops, she doesn't have that yet - I forgot I did the wrong Skald subclass - I will need to retrain her eventually into Battle Scion instead)

My only character that isn't Melee-focused in combat would be my Zen Archer Monk, Keiko, which is worth mentioning since it seems we have 4 melee people? (She DOES have Precise Shot)

Grelthe, the Singing Paladin - Half-Orc Paladin (Holy Tactician) 2 / Skald (Dragon Skald) 1 - (Diplomacy Specialist; Sailing background)
Ishikawa Keiko - Human Samurai 1 / Zen Archer Monk 1 - (Equestrian Acrobat theme, comes with Mount)
Maud Stonespark - Oread Unchained Elemental Monk 2 / Crystal Tender Shaman 1 - (LIKES ROCKS. Basically a dwarf, character inspiration Maud from MLP. Charisma 5.)
Valentina Vitteri - Human (mostly) Magus (Kapenia Dancer & Spell Dancer) 2 - (Very smart, kinda useless, except Combat Maneuvers)
Zehameti Golkami - Nagaji Fighter (Venomblade) 1 / Bard (Dervish Dancer) 1 - (Brawn & Sexy, fun RP)

@GM Batpony - any faction allegiances for this adventure?

Hey y'all - I added my character to the google spreadsheet, but just for good measure will post here, too.

I like to replay versions of characters I already have strong RP for, so those are:
- Althea (F Half-Elf, Half-Varisian) multiclass Unchained Rogue w/ a heart of gold. Diplomacy specialist & Skill Monkey (Shadowdancer /Magus /Cleric multi options)
- Grelthe (F Half-Orc, Half-Ulfen) Paladin of Kurgess, multiclass Skald. Also a Diplomacy specialist, very stronk, very adorbs. Much friend. Not what you normally expect from a Paladin, background sailor/slave. Typically more support /giving out teamwork feats, than raw combat brute.

I would be interested in FIRST edition APs Skull & Shackles (either character), or Second Darkness (Althea only; RP her unknown dad is a character from that AP)

Father's Identity:
Unknown to her, her father is Zarineth, also known as 'Swallowtail,' a leader of the Lantern Bearers/Shin'Rakorath.

I have only really played one AP before, and didn't finish (not my fault, group fell apart). Currently in 2e Kingmaker (home game). I miss 1e.

Hello friends! I was notified about the 09-00 special for the Bridge the Gap convention by the lovely and considerate G4lkun!

Looking at the other 1e game options, I was disappointed. I started 1e late, right before 2e, and am still trying to get the base # of 5 games in certain seasons to unlock the background boons for 2e, but almost all of my characters are VERY low level (bottom starting tier).

So - if anyone ends up running a LOW-level scenario from:
Season 1: (no title)
Season 3: Year of the Ruby Phoenix
Season 9: Year of Factions' Favor (only need 1 more after 09-00 from the next con!)

PLEASE send me a message either here or through Discord even better!

(I'm interested in other seasons as well, of course, but those are the ones I am struggling to find, and have characters that could use the boons.)

Female Human

Hello friends. My question is about 1e scenarios - do they ever get run through here, or is this solely 2e?

[EDIT: A-ha! Flaxseed Lodge! I found it]

Female Human

Ugh Valentina is useless in combat now that I found out I can't use Slashing Grace how I thought. CRITICAL HIT! 5 damage. Wakka Wakka oh well

Hello! I don't understand why so many backgrounds are impossible to access, and not included in boons - they are all structured the same, so I can't see why they would be considered 'unfair' or 'overpowered'?

Specifically, I would LOVE:

"Songsinger in Training" (uncommon background) from "Quest for the Frozen Flame Player's Guide"

and/or

"Martial Musician" (uncommon background) from "Battlecry!"
(which is slightly more generic, and already from a sourcebook people are more likely to own)

(or just more generically a boon for uncommon backgrounds in Battlecry! could also work)

Thank you for listening!

I just wanna make a SKALD, man!

Female Human

Hello - um, is there a way to add this campaign to like, a tracking list or something? I didn't know if existed, and apparently missed out on a signup because players had pre-signed up here instead of on the outpost google doc or RPGchronicles, which was very confusing

I wish to not miss those opportunities in the future

Very strange - I wish there was a way to report this?

Female Human

Hello - I saw this is already full, but I wanted to maybe get in on the waiting list if possible? In case someone drops?

Female Human

Hello, on the Outpost IX Event Listing in Google Docs, this does NOT appear to be full, however - the last slot is "TBD" so - does that mean this adevnture IS already full of players?

Thank you

GM Shadow Dragon wrote:

But I put myself on the "wait-list" for the Google spreadsheet sign up, just in case there is a drop-out.
I was also going to do so on RPG Chronicles but it looks like no one else has signed up there yet ::thumbs up::

Female Human

Hello I have a silly question - Penumbral Accords is not replayable (without GM stars or whatever), correct?

What a neat idea! I will try to catch the next round <3

So it sounds like you already have a few great choices for replacement players

BUT JUST IN CASE - I haven't played Pathfinder for awhile and level 1 is pretty easy to whip up, and I have 3 characters whose personalities & histories could easily be rewritten to be a cleric of Besmara (or Warpriest? Is Warpriest also an option?)

Option 1 - "Grelthe" Half-Orc/Half-Ulfen STR/CHA musclehead learned sailing as a Thrall-slave in the Ironbound Archipelago (previously Holy Tactician Paladin of Kurgess & Dragon Skald)
(specializes in Diplomacy)
So probably most interested in War/Duels/Tactics, & Weather domains

Option 2 - "Althea" Half-Elf/Half-Varisian DEX/INT sneaky Skill Monkey with a heart of gold (previously Unchained Rogue & Shadowdancer)
(specializes in Diplomacy)
So probably most interested in Chaos, Trickery/Deception/Innuendo/Thievery, & Duels domains

Option 3 - "Nelimyn (Neli)" (originally 5e) Undine CON/STR/WIS Naive XenoAnthropologist nerd (& kinda Disney Princess stereotypes from animal friendlies) originally a 5e Triton Tempest Cleric/Druid multiclass.
(plan to specialize in Animal Handling, Speaking with Animals & History/Culture/Architecture)
So probably most interested in Storm/Weather or Oceans/Water domains

brvheart wrote:

Ok, our druid has disappeared again. I can no longer wait on him. This has been several months of irractice attendance.

We need a cleric of Besmara for Skulls&Shackles game. Sources are Core, APG, UC and a few pirate based sources. The party yes needs an old fashioned cleric that can heal, provide support and do some fighting. Level one, but will soon be level two. Need is immediate. The core group has been great. A mix of characters that I would not have normally considered and Harak was a decent Druid but Adventure Paths presume you have certain things when they are written. A pirate preistess if you will.

Female Human

hmm well I have a level 1 Core Paladin I was thinking of signing up here - but it looks like everyone else is FIRMLY high tier so I guess nevermind

gotta compliment GM Valen though - I really like your setup - very professional and easy to find all the pertinent info

Female Human

Hello!

I am late to realizing this con was starting, haha

But I do have a character I think might be good for this, I think she's a level 2 (possibly 3) Magus
She's played one other blakros museum story

Might be too low level for the other characters
I'll check the rpg chronicles link
And double check her stats as well

Thanks

I just find it hilarious that you are pushing a tier 1-2 run for what is to most people a very hard to find capstone event. However if that is what you want to do then more power to you. It is so deliciously ironic. :)

The way my luck has been going, I will NEVER be able to get any of my 1e PFS character that high level. Ever. (My highest character is only 5, the next highest is 3. I've been playing on and off since 2017, so 5 years.) So that's an irrelevant concern for me.

I try to pick scenerios based on RP theming that make sense for each character, which is probably part of my issue.

But even after opening another low level table for the Con special, now it's CORE only, so I still can't play it. ((Shrug))

I appreciate the paizo staff trying to be flexible and expand offering based on interest, but apparently I'm just not the... majority customer, if that makes sense. There aren't enough other players in my category, and since it's a group activity I will always be left behind.

I guess I just need to let go of this format :(
Cause continually being disappointed is... a waste of time.

Anyway, everyone else have fun with the con and specials.

Thank you paizo staff for being awesome, as usual. And explaining stuff to me.

Thank you for the wealth of information and explanation.

We specifically selected this special as it allows play from 1-20 and there's been a lot of requests and inquiries for high-level play opportunities among our 1e players. There weren't very many GM volunteers however, so the decision was made to primarily prioritize offering high-tier tables.

Khouri P. wrote:

Thank you

Please go ahead and add them to the waitlist for the time being. At this point I can't promise that we'll be able to offer any other low or mid-tier tables besides our 3-4 table but if there's enough interest then we'll certainly see what we can do to accommodate as many people as we can.

Khouri P. wrote:
Oh. It looks like the link is no longer working. Maybe it is too late to sign up to GM a special? At least using that method

Unfortunately, this is correct - the window to submit interest in GMing a special (1e, 2e, SF) closed July 29th. We usually take volunteer submissions for specials for 5 days to a week or so before closing the form. This is so we can notify the selected GMs in a timely manner so they can plan the rest of their convention activities accordingly and so we can get scenario support submitted to Paizo Organized Play in a timely manner as well.

In terms of being eligible to run a table, multi-table specials generally have no particular star/glyph/nova requirements. For our PbP/PbDiscord conventions, our primary stipulation is that you've GMed at least one game in your preferred format (PbP on a forum, or PbD on one of our Discord lodges) before volunteering to GM a special.

So... if I'm understanding this mix correctly:
- didn't have enough volunteer GMs
- aren't accepting more volunteer GMs
- if I can personally scrounge up enough player interest for a single tier... there's a possible chance it *MIGHT* get run?

And for what it's worth I do fulfill the GM requirement, so that's good to be aware of at least.

Oh. It looks like the link is no longer working. Maybe it is too late to sign up to GM a special? At least using that method

Thank you for the response.

#1: where/how would one make "requests and inquiries" because as someone with ONLY low level characters I have definitely been feeling the lack of options over the last year or so in ALL con availability. I would like to "complain" as loud as the high level people who already understand how all this works, please ;)

#2: I asked if it was lack of GMs because it's far enough in advance I might try volunteering myself, but have never run a multi table special soooo.... if that's the only way my character can get the "experience" (AKA chronicle sheet) then I'm willing.
But it will be hard, confusing, and of course not ideal as I generally try to be a player in an adventure before GMing it (but again low level opportunities are less and less).

And me waiting so long for certain adventures to be run has only let my 1e characters fall further and further behind other "the herd" I guess :(

I know some specials require so many GM stars or whatever - I don't think think one has requirements though, correct? I will check out the GM sign-up links for more info

Thank you

What makes me say what?
A) That there's no purpose to the text? (which your quote does point out is usable outside of society)
B) that if you choose Yue Xin you get no reward?

..So there is literally no reason that the 3,000 gold or diamond should even be listed in the scenario then, since they literally don't matter at ALL and if you choose Yue Xin you just don't get a reward at ALL (because all the other options get crossed out)?

I have a question about rewards for the 5th mini-quest "Prophesy" in 8-16 House of Harmonious Wisdom before I GM it.

A local representative of the Sun Shogun provides a reward of 3,000 gp AND access to a store of magical talismans in gratitude;

if the PCs do not return the scroll case to Mai Chun, cross off the Sun Shogun Talismans reward from the PCs’ Chronicle sheets.

If the PCs gave away the scroll case to a foreign agent, they receive the reward offered by the agent and nothing more."

Yet there is not actually anything on the Chronicle sheet to notate that, in fact the text seems contradictory because the Chronicle sheet says:

Chronicle Sheet: "Variable Rewards" wrote:

...but with no mention of the specifically variable monetary rewards in mini-quest 5 "Prophesy."

To me, I would take this literally, as in, these are the rewards based on who you give the scroll case to:

Spoiler:
Chun Mai -> 3000 EXTRA gold in addition to table funds AND Sun Shogun Talismans boon on chronicle sheets
-> (Pigments & Headband listed below crossed OFF purchase options)
Jianghong -> "Marvelous Pigments" purchase option on Chronicle sheets
-> (No additional funds besides what's listed in table - & Headband listed below crossed OFF purchase options)
Jiang Fei -> "Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2" purchase option on Chronicle sheets
-> (No additional funds besides what's listed in table - & Pigments listed above crossed OFF purchase options)
Yue Xin -> a writ of exchange for the "Star of Changdo," a diamond worth 5,000 gp. The diamond can be claimed in Po Li with the signed writ. (Also NOT mentioned on chronicle sheet!)
-> (No additional funds besides what's listed in table - or maybe the 5000g value of the gem? not sure. & Pigments listed above crossed OFF purchase options)

I can find no other discussion of this anywhere online?

Ok sorry, I did see that but since it was from 2017, I've been told to not "necro" threads so I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the tip!
