This is an out-of-character discussion thread for a CORE run of Pathfinder Society #0-35: Voice in the Void. This adventure that will be run as part of the Play by Post convention, Outpost VI, which runs between March 6, 2023 and May 15, 2023.
This is Pathfinder Society Scenario is designed for 1st to 7th level characters (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7).
Seating: Seats are assigned on a first come, first seated basis. To sign-up, you MUST first post on the Outpost Event Listing sheet found here.
Players will also be asked to provide their information here on the rpgchronicles.net page. Information will need to be provided to each to claim a seat.
Game Start Date: Wednesday March 8, 2023.

GM Valen |

It appears from the official sign-up sheet that we have enough players for the table to fire. Please settle on PCs and provide the requested information above.
Looking forward to running this one for you all!

GM Valen |

As our start date is now about a week away, please feel free to post character introductions over in the Gameplay thread and also post chronicle information here on the rpgchronicles.net page.
In addition, to help us move along, please provide the requested marching order(s) and modifier(s) on this this slide.

![]() |

Hi! I just wanted to say I filled in the information in the rpg thing website.
This is Ledt, he is a Core Sorcerer with 5 levels and a very grumpy personality for a halfling. Looking forward to play this old adventure with you all :)

GM Valen |

Today is our scheduled start date. To begin, I request that all players please post their chronicle information here on the rpgchronicles.net page. Doing so keeps me from pestering tracking down players for reporting and allows me to get chronicle sheets in a quicker manner.
Also, I have "fixed" the permissions on the Slides (sorry about that), so you should now be able to provide the requested marching order(s) and modifier(s) on this this Slide.
Finally, please post character introductions and any purchases over in the Gameplay thread.
Once all players have provided chronicle info and marching order/modifiers, I will move us along to the first encounter at the museum.

GM Valen |

hmm well I have a level 1 Core Paladin I was thinking of signing up here - but it looks like everyone else is FIRMLY high tier so I guess nevermind
gotta compliment GM Valen though - I really like your setup - very professional and easy to find all the pertinent info
Thank you for the compliment. As for joining us, you are welcome to one of the pregenerated characters appropriate for the level (which will be determined once everyone provides the chronicle info).

![]() |

@GM Valen - Would it be possible to dump the chronicle sheets to Google Drive and provide a link after the game in the Discussion thread (as was done in the past)? I am not keen on providing random websites with my email address. I am fine with providing the other (required) information to RPG Chronicles.

Absolutely, that is MO. All I need to generate a proper chronicle (and report the is character name, level, Org play number, character number, and faction.
You are welcome to provide any other information if you wish, but it is not necessary.

Sounds good. Do we have enough people to really start playing? I know we are have at least three players so that is technically enough but it is on the low side.

We have 4 players signed up on the Outpost Event Listing sheet found here. However, only three of those players have checked in so far.
Given that we have a deadline for completion of this scenario, I am willing to hold off for a few more days if we want to try to recruit more players, but I am reluctant to wait much longer than that.

GM Valen |

Our fourth has dropped, so we are down to three. I will post for more players on the Recruitment thread. In the meantime, however, please talk among yourself about a possible pregen to serve as a fourth PC.

![]() |

Hopefully we will find someone. Currently our APL is 16/3 = 5.33 which rounds down to 5. This will put us in between tiers so we would be looking for a level 4 pregen as we would be playing down. None of the core pregens are actually good but Kyra is ok. Lini has her AC which has some combat potential and she can Wild Shape and cast spells in wild shape so that is alright as well. Any other suggestions or preferences?

GM Valen |

Hiya! Whatcha need? I have a Fighter 3, Bard 5, and a Rogue 5.
My bard, Corenthiir, has adventured with Sylvester & Red Reverend in the past
We have two sorcerers and a cleric, so I would think any of those would be welcomed. A level 5 may be preferable

GM Valen |

Looks like we have our four! Welcome aboard, Corenthiir!
For those who haven't already, please character name, level, Org play number, character number, faction, and any other information you'd wish on the RPGChronicles page here.
Also, please provide the requested Perception and Initiative modifiers along with a default marching order on this slide here.
Once that is done, I will move us to the first map.

![]() |

Thank you for having me!
It won't let me edit the text in the initiative and perception fields on the slide.
The info is in my header bar, btw.

![]() |

Sorry for the delay with the chronicles/slides, the boards didn't notify me that anything was new in here.
The Red Reverend is your friendly neighborhood negative-channeling cleric, so don't expect much healing until the wands come out after combat. On the other hand, stay back and I am great at swarms.

@GM Valen - I have included both Sylvester and Shaggy on the same initiative as Sylvester is riding Shaggy. I cannot copy over my avatar for either Sylvester or Shaggy to the slide show. If someone could copy them over I would appreciate it. :)
Welcome Corenthir. I am glad you could make it. :)

![]() |

Sorry I jumped into the gameplay thread without checking in first Hope thats okay
initiative modifier is +2 marching order at or near the front
with poor sense motive this is my reformed street urchin paladin with a level of rogue

We have 5 players in the Gameplay thread and I am now anticipating the addition of 1 more. To ensure fairness and proper reporting, I am going to put the game on hold until everyone has officially signed into the game on the Outpost Event Listing sheet found here. (Currently, only 4 players are signed up for this table) and until I have everyone's relevant information here on the rpgchronicles.net page.
Once I have the same six players signed up on each (or 48 hours, whichever is sooner), I will proceed with the game with those players that I have signed up on each.

I should be signed up on both but I don't know if my character number for Core goes back to 1 or if it counts as another PFS1 PC. Yes his page is blank; I'll get it filled out either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

It goes to a new number. So, if this is your 5th PC, the number will be XXXXXX-5. You just need to be sure you assign it to the Core campaign when you create it.
I have the Valeros PbP template (I think) if you need it.
Yep, I do!
It's in here.

Unfortunately for me I already entered a version. Thanks though. Is there a site where PbP pregens are stored?

The link to the PbP templates are in my post above.
Just be sure you give a proper Core PC PFS number that you're applying the credit to for this scenario. If you give the person who's reporting the game a Standard PFS number, all the PCs will be reported as Standard instead of Core and it really screws things up.

In the My Organized Play section you should see very clearly who your Core characters are @Dragon.
Core characters have a "PFC" label next to their Id, while non Core have the "PFS(1ed)" label. For example for Ledt:
# 134452-6 PFC
If you have to register a new character because none is Core, use the "Register a New Pathfinder Society—Core (first edition) Character" button. You will see it will use the next -# available (it does not begin again with 1).

I will but I need to actually come up with one since I'm using a pregen. I don't know that I'll play another Core game either.

![]() |

If you are not, then just play for fun, not for chronicle :)

GM Valen |

Ledt wrote:If you are not, then just play for fun, not for chronicle :)That's what I always do. :)
My hope is that you enjoy this table and will play more games on these boards in the future. As many of the PFS tables here are core (and more may be in the future as replays dwindle), I encourage you to consider setting up a core PC for the future.
If you do want a chronicle for this game for a core PC, I will need a different Organized play number/character number to assign it to as 2369921-1 is already assigned to Decimus Gallonica Trajan, who is currently playing at a standard table. Please note any updated number here.
Otherwise, I will not be issuing a chronicle to you upon completion.

I agree CORE is a lot of fun. You are extremely limited in your build choices but that just encourages you to blend classes in unusual ways
if you want to build a more unique character. It also brings down the power level a good deal and removes the rules bloat. That is always a good thing. :)

![]() |

If anyone ever thinks that casting Fireball gets old. It doesn't. :)

![]() |

Just on behalf of tracking correctly Ledt used resources, do I get right Sylvester's fireball was enough to kill the thing and Ledt's ray never happened? :D

GM Valen |

Correct. The fireball went off first as the ray was readied.

![]() |

I just had a look at that monster (now that it is dead) and it is MUCH meaner than I had thought originally from its opening ability. Who would have knew? :)

![]() |

Wow. Good job taking it out quickly, then!

![]() |

The fact that a lot of us are effectively playing down (or in between tiers) is helping a lot. Having access to third level spells makes a huge difference. A CORE 3-4 party might have had a much harder time with the Gibbering Mouther.
CORE really amps up the difficulty level as so many cheesy builds are eliminated. :)

I've had some sad but expected news posting may be spotty. Please bot as appropriate

![]() |

Sorry to hear that. Take care.

GM Valen |

Yes, please take whatever time you need to process and deal with this news. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

![]() |

Sorry to hear that Omrijka. I wish you all the good energy and strength to surmount it.

![]() |

So sorry to hear, Omrijka. Take your time. Personal issues come first.

As a +1, one-handed blade, Valeros' sword is Hardness 12. The shatter weapons ability cannot overcome that hardness.

Oh okay, I'll plug it back in...

No rush on getting back to normal posting, take whatever time you need. After all you are the GM and we're not continuing without you. :)

Regarding invisibility while sundering the wires connecting the woman...
For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. Exactly who is a foe depends on the invisible character's perceptions. Actions directed at unattended objects do not break the spell. Causing harm indirectly is not an attack. Thus, an invisible being can open doors, talk, eat, climb stairs, summon monsters and have them attack, cut the ropes holding a rope bridge while enemies are on the bridge...
So, if invisible, can we attempt to cut the wires without becoming visible?

![]() |

@Corey- Attacking an attended object I feel would break Invisibility. Of course it is the GM's call. :)

![]() |

@My Teammates, maybe I can attempt to fascinate her with bardic performance or cast charm person to make it easier to disconnect her.
Thoughts?
