I may be missing something, but it seems like the 1e special is missing certain subtiers? Is that due to a lack of GMs, or what?

If I have a character that is a level not listed in the subtier options, should I just add them to the waitlist? Or no?

Thank you

We specifically selected this special as it allows play from 1-20 and there's been a lot of requests and inquiries for high-level play opportunities among our 1e players. There weren't very many GM volunteers however, so the decision was made to primarily prioritize offering high-tier tables.

Khouri P. wrote:

Please go ahead and add them to the waitlist for the time being. At this point I can't promise that we'll be able to offer any other low or mid-tier tables besides our 3-4 table but if there's enough interest then we'll certainly see what we can do to accommodate as many people as we can.

Thank you for the response.

#1: where/how would one make "requests and inquiries" because as someone with ONLY low level characters I have definitely been feeling the lack of options over the last year or so in ALL con availability. I would like to "complain" as loud as the high level people who already understand how all this works, please ;)

#2: I asked if it was lack of GMs because it's far enough in advance I might try volunteering myself, but have never run a multi table special soooo.... if that's the only way my character can get the "experience" (AKA chronicle sheet) then I'm willing.
But it will be hard, confusing, and of course not ideal as I generally try to be a player in an adventure before GMing it (but again low level opportunities are less and less).

And me waiting so long for certain adventures to be run has only let my 1e characters fall further and further behind other "the herd" I guess :(

I know some specials require so many GM stars or whatever - I don't think think one has requirements though, correct? I will check out the GM sign-up links for more info

Thank you

Oh. It looks like the link is no longer working. Maybe it is too late to sign up to GM a special? At least using that method

Posting in the Flaxseed Lodge Discussion Thread (for 1e games) is the best way to let the Online VOs as well as other GMs know you'd like to see more <XYZ content> offered or that you're looking to play a specific scenario. People are usually pretty good about offering to run games if there's a request, though the availability will vary somewhat depending on if there's a PbP convention happening or not.

Unfortunately, this is correct - the window to submit interest in GMing a special (1e, 2e, SF) closed July 29th. We usually take volunteer submissions for specials for 5 days to a week or so before closing the form. This is so we can notify the selected GMs in a timely manner so they can plan the rest of their convention activities accordingly and so we can get scenario support submitted to Paizo Organized Play in a timely manner as well.

In terms of being eligible to run a table, multi-table specials generally have no particular star/glyph/nova requirements. For our PbP/PbDiscord conventions, our primary stipulation is that you've GMed at least one game in your preferred format (PbP on a forum, or PbD on one of our Discord lodges) before volunteering to GM a special.

On Saturday 13 August at noon Central the restriction for the Specials to be lifted.

I will not be making a post at noon as I will be on vacation so use that time as your gateway to sign-up for the PFS2E and SFS Specials.

Where do I even purchase the dark archives adventures for Pathfinder 2e? I see they are offered for gameday, but don't see them in standalone adventures or in the organized play section.
What does the Dark Archive rulebook come with a ton of adventures as well as character options?

Yep. The DA book has the adventures in it.

So... if I'm understanding this mix correctly:
- didn't have enough volunteer GMs
- aren't accepting more volunteer GMs
- if I can personally scrounge up enough player interest for a single tier... there's a possible chance it *MIGHT* get run?

And for what it's worth I do fulfill the GM requirement, so that's good to be aware of at least.

So... if I'm understanding...

If there is a full table we can try, though it takes a few things. We would then need to locate a GM and the scenario drops have been sent in for the Con.

If there are enough interested low level that is what the player waitlist is for on each of the Specials sheets. Have the players sign up there and the VO team can try to track down a GM to fill that table.

I own the scenario (I GM'd it back in 2012) and would be willing to give it some thought about GMing a tier 1-2 table. CORE would be great, but, Standard is fine just for the GM credit (Almost to 5 stars, yay!).

Others have already stated the dates but this is the reason why we aim for the dates we do on Gameday. Gameday is already a pretty tight timeframe as we need it to end before Thanksgiving break.

We used to start it earlier around mid August but found that timeframe is when Paizo updates ther website after GenCon and creates an annual blackout period. It has gotten better over the last couple years but we had a few points where the website went down for several days to a couple of weeks. This wasn't good in the middle of a special. So we shifted the dates back a couple of weeks closer to the beginning of September to help avoid this.

The other reason we pushed back a little further because the street date for the new Specials had been hitting around mid-September and we wanted to try and afford thhe PbP Community an opportunity to run the new specials right away instead of having to wait until the following Spring timeframe.

There is a lot of planning into the dates and we try to take all of the major conventions into account for this as best as we can. :)

Done.

I strongly suggest anyone who is interested in a low level run of the PFS1E special to also sign up in the waitlist in the google doc (Link).

Let's show the world that there's still demand for low level PFS1E! ;-)

I just find it hilarious that you are pushing a tier 1-2 run for what is to most people a very hard to find capstone event. However if that is what you want to do then more power to you. It is so deliciously ironic. :)

I noticed a player that I know in the waiting list for 16-19 and I would be grateful if another slot was opened up in the 16-19 category so as many people can make the climb to 20th level as possible.

4/5

I mean, we have AP credit for that now, so Race isn't as crucial to the climb.

1/5 *

The full high tier is partially my fault. I have a local group that played the same characters to 19.2 and I sent them the link once player signups opened. Redelia gets three of us, and I'm getting my sheet running.

Both another 16-19 and a 1-2 would be nice, but that still requires willing GMs. My 12-15 is already full or I would offer to swap.

(I also think, amusingly, that you can actually get a Society character to 22nd level, because Return of the Runelords sheets are for tiers 1-20, and thus can be given to characters at 19.2 and 20.2 before Runecarved Key.)

Hey folks, we're keeping an eye on the sign-ups as well as the wait list. Normally we give things a couple of weeks to even out before we start looking at potentially adding/subtracting tables or shuffling players around to balance the tables and/or to make room for people on the wait list. So rest assured we're watching/working on it behind the scenes :)

Well, that's something I did not know. *shrugs*

I think my ignorance is showing a bit because I'm relativly new to PFS - only a couple of years under my belt, my highest level char is level 7.
I just saw a multi-table special and I wanted in. ;-)

I live in Austria where PFS isn't very common (it seems) and I haven't been sitting at a physical table since April 2020. Since then I'm only playing pbp - and that means character progression is 1-2 levels per year, maximum.
I am very far away from having a character in the (high) seeker range, even more so in CORE.
Given that there has to be some decreasing demand of PFS1E (because of PFS2E), too, I don't think I will have a good chance to play this special after Gameday XI (or at least it's very far in the future) as I also expect the online convention organisators to have some rotation going on with the multi-table specials.

That's why I want to play it now. I have no idea if I get the opportunity ever again.

Also, I was not the first on the 1E special waitlist with low level chars... ;-)

@Lady Ladile: Thank you! :-)

Looks like we had enough interest for CORE Tier 1-2 for Race for teh Runecarved Key. I went ahead and added it to the listing along with the 4 players that were on the waitlist signed up as CORE PC's. The House GM Lady Ladile should be in contact with them later this evening to let them know they were manually added.

That leaves 2 spaces still available in the CORE 1-2 table

I mean a link to my actual Paizo gameplay thread on the player sign up spreadsheet. I ended up posting the entire url. I don't know how to get it to just say "Gameplay" or "Discussion" like others have done. I don't own one of them kompewter thingies. I do everything from my phone.

Thank you! How do you create the link with "Gameplay" instead of the entire url? Tyranius told me to just press Control-K but I don't have that option.

If you are using the Google app "Sheets", it should work this way*:

1) Select the cell you want.
2) Tap on the plus [+] (should be somewhere in the upper right corner, near the "undo" button). This opens a menu with the caption "Insert".
3) Select "Link".
4) Under "Linktitle or -text" write the text you want it to show.
5) Below ("URL") paste the url/link you want it to go to, no url-tags needed.
6) Tap "Save".
7) Done!

As an alternative, you can still enter it directly using this formula:
=HYPERLINK("Link", "Text")

Example: =HYPERLINK("https://paizo.com/people/roll4initiative", "This link will take you to the Paizo profile of roll4initiative")

*Disclaimer:
As I live in Austria, my Sheets app uses the German language.
I tried to translate the menu items to English as best as I could.
No guarantees, though. There will be no refunds for incorrectly named menu items.

The way my luck has been going, I will NEVER be able to get any of my 1e PFS character that high level. Ever. (My highest character is only 5, the next highest is 3. I've been playing on and off since 2017, so 5 years.) So that's an irrelevant concern for me.

I try to pick scenerios based on RP theming that make sense for each character, which is probably part of my issue.

But even after opening another low level table for the Con special, now it's CORE only, so I still can't play it. ((Shrug))

I appreciate the paizo staff trying to be flexible and expand offering based on interest, but apparently I'm just not the... majority customer, if that makes sense. There aren't enough other players in my category, and since it's a group activity I will always be left behind.

I guess I just need to let go of this format :(
Cause continually being disappointed is... a waste of time.

Anyway, everyone else have fun with the con and specials.

Thank you paizo staff for being awesome, as usual. And explaining stuff to me.

@Khouri P - You can always build your own new core character or play a pre-gen for the special. That seems to me a lot more fun then sitting out a game that you would like to play. Just my two cents (is it three cents now with inflation?) but feel free to do as you like. :)
