I received my order 4135783 confirmation on 11/14 for off-schedule shipment, then received notification that my order was moved to my sidecart 11/15. Order 4135783 is listed as complete, and my case and incentive are both still in my sidecart. Please verify this is shipping and not holding for monthly shipment. I changed my subscription to ship as soon as possible prior to order spawn.

I immediately thought of Voltron when I saw Vitalist on the list. I want to say, "...and I'll form the head!" in a gaming session.

Note that this is RAI and my view of RAW, not an official errata or faq.

Drow Noble requires not "spell-like abilities" or even a specific list of spell-like abilities, but "Able to use drow spell-like abilities."

Neither Drow Magic nor Lesser Spell-Like Abilities gives you the ability to use "drow spell-like abilities." The are, at best, drow-like.

So no they fail to meet the prerequisite, regardless of whether Drow Heritage would qualify them as drow for the prerequisite.

Fair enough, now I know the intent.

Thank you for the quick response!

Was there an intent in the "Transformed by the Darklands" section to offer less restrictive options for half-drow?

** spoiler omitted **

I haven't seen any responses to this, so I'll clarify:

  • The new Half-Elf alternate racial trait Lesser Spell-Like Abilities is identical (RAW) to the Half-Elf alternate racial trait Drow Magic, previously published in the Advanced Race Guide.
  • The new Half-Elf alternate racial trait Drow Heritage is very similar to the wording of the Half-Elf feat Half-Drow Paragon, also in the ARG.
My question is regarding the prerequisites for the Drow feat Drow Nobility in the ARG -

Q: Assuming a Half-Elf has taken either Lesser Spell-Like Abilities or Drow Magic, does taking Drow Heritage meet the prerequisites for Drow Nobility?

I'm uncertain due to the more general wording in Drow Heritage versus the specific wording of Half-Drow Paragon, as it relates to the specific wording of Drow Nobility.

By RAW, Drow have Spell-Like Abilities defined by racial trait.
If a Half-Elf counts as a drow, and is able to use the same Spell-Like Abilities as a drow, then they qualify for Drow Nobility, no?

I apologize, but this thread seemed to be the most pertinent... so,

"Arise and live again!"

The recent release of Blood of Shadows offers several new Half-Elf specific alternate racial traits.

Two of these new traits seem to provide half-elves access to the Drow Nobility feat without requiring the Half Drow Paragon feat. You would no longer gain darkvision, but you would also not gain light blindness.

Drow Heritage wrote:
Half-elves with this trait count as drow for the purposes of any effect related to race, including prerequisites. This racial trait replaces the ability to choose any language as a bonus language, instead limiting the character to the bonus languages offered to drow.
Lesser Spell-Like Abilities wrote:
Half-elves with this trait can cast dancing lights, darkness, and faerie fire once each per day. The caster level for these effects is equal to the user’s character level. This racial trait replaces adaptability and multitalented.

I'd like to read your thoughts on whether my RAW interpretation is correct on this.

Was there an intent in the "Transformed by the Darklands" section to offer less restrictive options for half-drow?

Spoiler:
It seems as though the Paragon feat requirement may have been removed for half-elf access to the Nobility feat tree in the ARG due to new alternate racial traits...

I received my order yesterday. The packing slip listed WZK71815-8-46-PR Pathfinder Battles - 2015 Promotional Figure: Burning Brazier (Alternate), however the miniature was not in the package. Everything else was in there.

Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Has anyone successfully replaced a miniature from The Lost Coast yet with WizKids?

When I attempt to create a package - this set is not listed...

I've sent an email to both wk.replacements@gmail.com and wkreplacements@necaonline.com in the last week and have yet to receive a response.

It's been 55 days since release, this seems like a huge oversight considering "Replacements are only available within the first 90 days of game purchase."

I see the mechanical validity of "Hex or Revelation" but it doesn't fit the design template.

That template being.

"Some from this, some from that, one new"

Take a look at the Arcanist...which they have done at job by the way. It really isn't following that template.

They used the Sorcerer and Wizard as a "jumping off point" to create something new...and that's how I feel it should be.

I agree with this approach. Perhaps if the base Shaman spell list consisted of only those core spells to define the envisioned nature of the class - such as divination, healing, blessings, curses, and otherworldly spirit manipulations... Then the selection of a spiritual path (nature, ancestors, The Great Beyond, elements, etc.) could provide access to a more specialized smaller list of spells and powers, similar to an Oracle's mystery. Each path could have a set of iconic spirit guides associated with it, such as the animal totems, Loa, elementals, fey creatures, etc. Choosing your spirit guide provides access to a specific set of spells and abilities, similar to a Witch's patron. The current Wandering concept could be restructured and restricted to a single path. The guide can further help define how you interact with other spirits - binding, coercing, banishing, allying, etc. The guide defines how you gain your power, the path determines your destination - your "capstone". I dislike the idea of tying the power of this class to a "combat companion", like a Druid's animal companion. I can see that option as an archetype for the class, but not a requirement.

Hello and thank for your work. I do have a question.

Should the full, New and two 1/2 moons be the only ones that appear on the sheet or should I also see crescents and the like?
I'm also seeing a "0" for the first moon in Kuthona.

Yes it is currently only the quarter phases. Thanks for pointing out the '0' I hadn't caught that. It's fixed now.

Nick - I am almost instantly redirected to The Art of Nick Russell when attempting to browse to any of the above links to Golarion Carrion for download of your calendar, and all of the DropBox links are dead. Is the calendar no longer available?

I've been a subscriber to the Pathfinder Battles line since it's creation. I really enjoy looking forward to the next new set, and I enjoy collecting miniatures in general. However, I am extremely frustrated, concerned, and confused by the recent significant acceleration in the release schedule. While I love the product, I'm having a very difficult time justifying ~$450 every other month. Quite frankly, I can't believe that I'm the only subscriber balking at an August, October, December schedule. I understand it's business, but if the release schedule is now going to be every two months, I feel that you may be moving this subscription out of a large portion of your patrons income range.

Believe me your not the only one, most of us complain on the preview threads on paizo's blog because that is usually the latest news on releases. I hate to complain, but I'm like you I can't keep up this pace. I was going to start a subscription until I found out what the schedule was going to be like. The good news is they said that they will have a normal schedule next year. They said these sets were running late and that is why they are so close together. Hopefully they will just do three a year, but the schedule is unknown after December. I hope this helps!

John

Much appreciated, thanks!
