Human Cleric/2

Guys, I'm not sure if this is the game for me. When I start avoiding making posts instead of eagerly refreshing the page, that is usually a bad sign. I want to post this instead of just vanishing into the night. I am thinking I'm going to drop out. Just not into the AP's story.

Human Cleric/2

I will be out of town from Friday night to Sunday night. Probably not posting, please bot me if required!

Human Cleric/2

Action 1

Kaldar stared at the innocent looking stable. Could it possibly bee connected with a vast and secret underground movement, right here in Kintargo?

He nods at Caleb's warning about this being a rough part of town. He had always avoided the Red Roof district, himself. He straightens, and keeps a close hand on his morning star.

Action 2

He keeps to the back, knowing he is not good at this sneaking stuff. At least not as good as the slippery seeming Caleb.

"What do you think of all of this?" he asks,to anyone who will listen.

Human Cleric/2

Action 1

Kaldar remains quiet, gravitating towards Rowan, letting the other very opinionated people talk. The cleric was the happiest, free-wheeling guya round but politics made him nervous. He had been on the run too long to actively join in a conversation like this.

Action 2

That is, until Vandomir calls him out directly. "Me?" Then he laughs. He, of all people is the one picked out to be good material. The broken waste of a priest of the Asmosdues. A hell of a choice, Kaldar thought, invoking the name intentionally.

Then he remarks to the religious byplay, "You'll find most of us are rebels already, Sir. I, for one, am a follower of Cayden Cailean.". It felt good to admit it, even to self-admitted rebels.

He turned Rexus and said, pointedly looking at Vandomir, "I have long been the enemy of the Thrunes and their horrible grip of power. But I think it is time to fight back, and not be alone. I'm in." The he adds, "And damn those who are too afraid to, like I was." he adds, as always, diving in deeply to any new cause.

Human Cleric/2

I'm back but a bit lost. Lots of chat going on (which is good) but hard to keep up with. Can someone sum up what is going on?

@Kaldar: Did you 'remove' your 'enlarged person' as was requested of you? I left that sort of vague because I didn't know but I want to 'make it right. now.

Oops, yes. I think it may have run out at this time anyway. Only lasts or two minutes.

Sorry!

Human Cleric/2

Turn 006

Action 1

Kaldar wheezed heavily, and leaned against a wall, as each caught his breath. While moderately in shape, long nights in taverns were no training for cross-city sprints. Before even joining in the converstation, Kaldar shakes his sweaty head and casts Cure Light Wounds on himself, to stave off the worst of the damage. Those thugs had fought well, and now he regretted his flamboyant display of rebellion.

The words of Vandomir sunk in though and the call to run away and hide again were compelling and strong. But before that came a more important task, and he heard Vandomir ask for healers. Now that he wouldn’t fall over, he was eager to help.

”I have some healing skill. Who else needs help?” he offers.

Action 2

Kaldar starts violently at the arriving men and nearly vanishes into the darkness. But there was now here to run and besides...he was tired. A final last stand against he forces of darkness might be something worthy of Cailean.

But there might not be a last stand as the man named Caleb stopped a second general brawl from breaking out.

”What is going on?” Kaldar demanded, from the shadows, longspear still in hand.

Human Cleric/2

I said to bot me please. Kaldar ran away. I won't be able to post today. It is a holiday and my family unexpectedly visited. Don't hold things up for me. I'll post my reaction, don't worry GM!

Human Cleric/2

Something came upa t home. Please bot me to Run Like Hell! Wounded too much to even think of staying...

Human Cleric/2

Won't be able to post tonight, tomorrow fur sure.

Human Cleric/2

That'll teach me to have the GM roll for me.

Human Cleric/2

Action 1 , Round 2

Kaldar laughed a huge booming laugh as the poorly armed thug turned tail and ran away. Turning into a roaring, angry giant usually worked, although his own fear had seldom let him test it in public. His laugh died as he saw a fully armed and powerful guard rush towards him. Feeling a bit clumsy, Kaldar turns towards the man and attacks, with full fury, yelling out anti-Chelish phrases.

Power Attack with Morning Star on Guard.

Morning Star Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 3 = 9 +2 for Power Attack and plus one for ‘Axe to Grind’

Round 2

Roaring with rage at missing his target, Kaldar smashes down again with his morning star. He is so caught up in his fury (finally released after years of hiding) he ignores his own safety and attacks with pure brute force, his yells echoing across the plaza.

Morning Star Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 2) + 3 = 10 +2 for Power Attack and plus one for ‘Axe to Grind’

His weapon hits true, ringing the guards head like a bell. Joy of a giant fills the square.

Human Cleric/2

Fabian, can you enlarge my token? Makes it easier to calculate attacks? I am now a Large creature. Thanks!

Human Cleric/2

Hidden thugs in the crowd caught everyone, even canny Kaldar off guard. Happy that the actual guards were drawing off, he focused on the grinning thug in front of him. He hated this man, int hat second, but also pitied him. Here was someone that could easily have been him. Locked in his own hatred, blind to others....Kaldar ripped his mind away from such thoughts (and his own fear) and focused on the matter at hand.

Kaldar takes a step back, and summons magical powers, asking his patron god for help. The god answers and soon Kald feels the tearing,g rowing feeling that is Enlarge Person ripple through his body.

Action One
Kaldar takes moves five feet to the right (towards the others) and casts Enlarge Person on himself. I am now a Large creature. It'll last 20 rounds.

Tall and strong, Kaldar's voice is a deep boom as he looks at the, now much smaller, thug. ”Get out of here before I get angry!” the cleric roars, his voice a harsh growl of terror.

Action 2
Even if the thug attacks me, Kaldar tries to intimidate him. Since I am bigger then he, I get a +4 to the roll. Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Human Cleric/2

I can't wait till we start interacting with each other!

Human Cleric/2

I vote double rounds. I have total faith in you, GM.

Human Cleric/2

Turn 2

Kaldar melded into the crowd. As usual, his good spirits, quick smile and broad gestures endeared people to him. Still paranoid about the inevitable Thrune counter-strike he reveled in the open civil disobedience. It stirred something in him. All those years running from the law, hiding his past, trying to forget what he had been...It had all be private, cowardly. But this, this was open and public and brave. Striking back inside of slinking to hide in the darkness. He overcame his usual sense of personal fear at being caught and joined the loudest people yelling for the removal of Thrune or some form of civic responsibility.

Thrune must go! He shouted loudly, but he did make sure he was never the only one shouting it.

Diplomacy to Rabble Rouse for Democracy!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Human Cleric/2

Better to have a great post a day or so late then a sucky post on time, in my opinion.

Yeah, I need to up my game to keep up with these great posts!

Human Cleric/2

Sorry about the past tense. I was bad about that in our Mummy's Mask game too Fabian. Will try harder...

Human Cleric/2

Turn 000

Action One

Kaldar saw it coming a mile off. Of course, you couldn't miss it in his circles. Among the low end dives and taverns he frequented, part of the underground Cailean church, he heard all the rumors. Martial law took the gossip mongers by storm, it was all the people could talk about. A few well-placed drinks enabled the curious cleric to learn all of the spontaneous protest forming in the park.

It made him pause, in the gloomy half light of the illicit bar. A protest, in Cheliax? Such things didn't happen, he knew that full well. His mind flashed back to his previous life, a life under the iron hard rule of the priesthood. They would never allow it, the Hellknights would crush any protest as if they were crushing a rebellion....right?

Maybe not in Kintagro. This bastion of independence and culture, so unlike the rest of Cheliax. Maybe the people really could force a Thrune from power. Or at least make demands without being crushed by insects? For a long moment he stood, tankard in hand until a impatient patron accosted him and took it with a grunt of disapproval. Begging his leave, Kaldar left the bar and headed to his small, squalid room to prepare. He would never miss a chance like this! he thought, grinning.

Over night, he mentally prepared himself. Praying hard, he asked his patron god for the magic to help others unless (if) this protest went badly. He prayed for increased strength as well, knowing it would be fully needed. Grabbing his secret holy symbol (and hiding a morning star and longspear in his clothes) he took off for the protest place.

0 Level Spells prepared, Create Water , Light, Detect Magic, Enhance Diplomacy[i]. First Level Prepared, [i]Enhance Water , Cure Light Wounds, Burning Disarm, Bonus Domain Spell, Enlarge Person

Action 2

That the protest was actually there, stunned Kaldar. He had really doubted it would happen. After taking in the protesters however, he looked around. Where were the Order of the Rack, descending with sword and spear? Where were the priests, directing devils to tear limb from limb? What was going on? With this weird, half paranoid half-amazing feeling, Kaldar plunges directly into the crowd trying to see if there was any leader, anyone in charge. Was it just a spontaneous meeting like his drunks suggested? Surely not, surely there was a powerful force behind this challenge to the Thrunes? Putting on his usual smile and quickly started to blend into the diffuse crowd. For all of his information gathering, he kept a close eye on the Opera House however, expecting a full crackdown at any minute but unable to pass this up.

[ooc] A little clumsy but the first post is always a bit stiff till his finds his voice.

Precisely!

Facebook, yep
Paizo.com, you bet
Gmail, sure

Google Docs? NOPE!

It is a legal security thing. I'm a librarian and the entire state library system high-ups are forbidden to use Google for anything (luckily, I am low enough on the food chain as to not be affected).

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Game on!

Hmmm, ummmm, so is the "standard" going to be that the turns are posted as Google Docs?

That is how Fabian does it.

Aww yeah, another Fabian game. Time to get my RP pen out. Looks great GM!

Crunch is done, will email shortly!

Human Cleric/2

Will try to get sheet done this weekend. Not sure if I will have time. Fabian, how do you want the sheet submitted? I know last time you gave me a custom Word document but I have a pdf. I much prefer (it does more calculation).

Human Cleric/2

I will stay a cleric. Healing is always good and I like the character's story!

Human Cleric/2

Now I found the Bramble Brewer archetype for the Alchemist and want to play it.

The issue with Pathfinder, so many choices!

Human Cleric/2

The site says it is from-

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: NPC Codex (OGL)
Name Carousing Champion

I'm glad you like him. Been building a bit more of the crunch and such. If anyone wants to link backgrounds I'm fine doing that. Every Rebel Squadron needs a big hard-drinking guy! (although he does have a dark side).

I've never played a cleric before, a whole new spell list!

Human Cleric/2

Rough Draft of Kaldar Cailean, my proposed cleric for this game!

Appearance:
Kaldar is a stocky, well-built human. With stiff brown hair, clean shaven jaw and an impressive number of scars, he can be an imposing figure until his smile comes out. Often dressed in fairly beaten down clothes, to escape scrutiny. Carries a small flask of ale as a religious artifact, concealed (due to Cheliax laws).

Background:
Kaldar Caliean (Formerly Naxilan Harzil)

Naxilan was born in Westcrown to middling middle class parents. After a short childhood however, they both died in a house fire, leaving the young child alone. He soon found himself in an orphanage, which was merely a front for the church of Asmodeus. Young and easily manipulated, he became a follower of the Dark Price and entered the priesthood. He had some talent for magic but nothing amazing, barely passing his exams and lessons.

He was sent to Kintargo as a very junior priest, for his first real posting. He never did fall naturally into the role however. Kintargo offered a world of cosmopolitan delights ranging from drink to music to courtesans and Naxilan tried them all, much to the despair of his senior priests. The priests of Asmodeus were supposed to control such excesses through terror and harsh judgment, not be part of such problems. Still, the young priest hung on, trying to find his sins of the flesh as best he could.

Then he made the great mistake. He fell in love with a young opera singer in training. After a brief and torrid affair the church hierarchy found out and gave Naxilan an ultimatum, ‘Get rid of the girl or you will both suffer.’ Terrified of being under the tyranny of the priesthood (and still locked in Asmodeus morals), to her ever-lasting shame he turned her in. She vanished into the network of torture and death of the church, and he never saw her again.

As the weeks passed however, guilt arose in him. It ate him alive, growing stronger and stronger. With the church being no help in this crisis, he doubted everything more and more. Finally he snapped, fled the church and melted into the underworld giving in to the most base pleasures.

It nearly killed him, sleeping in the streets as a drunk, begging for loose change. Sleeping with any woman who would have him, eating any crumb thrown his way. He lived like this for months, and completely fell off the map (so much even the priests gave him up for dead). With no faith, no magic and no soul he roamed the streets.

Finally, in a tiny seedy inn, he came across a kind bartender. He was a religious man but not a follower of Asmodeus. He was instead a follower of Cayden Cailean, a name Naxilan only knew through lessons on heresy and profane worship. But as he sat there, in a drunken haze, the man preached to him, gently and calmly, taking a risk on this young man. The worship of Cayden was illegal of course, the old temple long ago burned down and replaced with a giant edifice to Zon-Kuthon. But the old worshipers still existed, here and there in hidden places.

The next day, Naxilan went back, despite the danger and grew more interested. He quickly grew to like the religion and found a new purpose in life. Shedding his crazed lifestyle, he became a firm follower of the Drunken God, learning from the other scattered followers in the Silver City. The young priest even changed his name, re-forming himself after his new God. Magic came back to him, and he found himself talented at the healing of others.

After martial law was announced he was forced to hide even more, as the crackdown increased intolerance. Kaldar is going to the protest to keep up on current events, as he is too afraid to openly protest or even seek out the Silver Ravens.

Personality:
He is big on laughing and gives off an aura of good times and friendly nature. Tolerance has become a major issue with him and he rarely judges anyone, except for the old priesthood. He has a fiery hate (that he isn’t always proud of) for the followers of Asmodeus and his former brothers. Knowing the inside of the priesthood so well, he is sometimes caught up in revenge as a way to deal with his past sins. Enjoys music a great deal.

Portrait:
The avatar art is ok, do you need more Fabian?

Crunch:
I can’t resist crunch so….

Kaldar is a Cleric of Cayden Cailean. His domains are Travel and Strength. Basic role will be healer (obviously) and some combat. The Strength domain gives him enlarge person which (combined with a reach weapon and travel domain’s faster movement) will let him use AoOs to control baddies in fight scenes (protecting the casters and range guys). Plan on buffing up Str, Wis and some Dex.

My character, as promised. A level 3 Human Paladin, cast out from the Linnorn kingdoms because he has a weird religion that has manifested as politics.

Frekir is a Lawful Good Paladin who is looking to achieve three things.

1. Find his long-lost brother in Kaer Maga

2. Make it with the daughter of a local caravan merchant

3. Bring Law (of some kind) to Kaer Maga (the character himself doesn't fully understand the scale of this last one).

Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
