Been down with the flu this week, sorry you've all suffered an absent DM, but I will not give up on you all. The game will start again, hopefully I'll get the next bit out tomorrow or over the weekend.

Ahhh...that stinks. Hope you feel better. The flu can really knock you out.

Hi Deevor,

Are we still on? Hope all is okay on your end.

Hey Deevor,

Everything okay? Just checking in.

Heavy Harry wrote:

"The teeth look a little small Jon, but they might make a nice necklace or other adornment, why don't you turn your hand to seeing what you can make of a couple?"

Harry puts a few in his pocket, and passes a couple to Jon

"Hmmm...yes. Perhaps Cayden will enlighten me as to what shape lies beneath these.", he says as he examines the teeth.

Not this time, though if you wanted to venture into the waters below the boardwalk you might find a suitable bone!!!....but I'd read the previous post carefully before you decide.

The Dragonelle fight, The horn like bits on the head were broken during the nose dive into the boardwalk, but this being a merchants/pirates town, you may be able to find something at one of the traders.

Very cool artwork.

Jon is a patient man...he will wait for another opportunity. :)

"Thank you Mr. Sanchez. We are at your service too.", Jon says. "Are you sure your associate is alright? I'd be happy to check on him."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Jon starts pulling wood and timber off of where he thinks Harry might be.

Strength check?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Woo Hoo! :)

Jon scrambles up and makes his way to Thumper's barks. When he is close enough he holds his holy symbol forth and channels energy to heal Harry and any townspeople who are hurt.

Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

When Harry fails to call out, Jon channels again.

Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

"Harry! How are you feeling? We'll get you out!"

Jon watches with horror as first Harry, then the dragon fall to the earth. The boardwalk rips open under him and he tries to maintain his footing.

Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Reflex save (Fortune reroll): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

He manages to scratch and claw his way to stay on the broken boardwalk.

"Harry!", he calls out. "We're coming to get you!"

Round 4

Jon stabs at the dragon creature as he flies away with Harry.

"Hang on, Harry!", he yells as he chases alongside Charles. He sheathes his rapier (Move action) and pulls out his crossbow (while moving down boardwalk).

Move as far I can or need to with my move action, so I can keep up with the dragon.

AOO Attack (Bless, Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
AOO Damage (Inspire Courage): 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

DM Deevor:
I drew my rapier in Round 1. I never sheathed it. I have a buckler on my other arm, so I should be able to cast with that, right? I'm not sure when I would have sheathed my rapier. I moved up behind Charles to cast the Shield of Faith on him.

Round 3

Seeing Charles struggling with the creature, Jon rushes up and stabs at the monster with his rapier.

Attack (Power Attack, Bless, Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage (Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Ferocious Strike): 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Round 2

Jon watches Charles' massive sword strike into the great beast. Fearing that the creature's bite will tear Charles in two, he moves up, casts a spell and touches Charles on the shoulder. I shimmering light covers Charles from head to toe.

"Watch out for his bite! It looks nasty!"

Cast Shield of Faith on Charles. +2 Deflection bonus to AC.

Oh cool! I didn't realize you had a pistol!

Round 1

Jon grasps his holy symbol of Cayden Cailean as he casts a spell. His comrades feel a momentary rush of power flow through them.

Bless: +1 morale bonus to hit and saves against fear.

He draws his rapier and starts moving towards the fearsome creature.

"Here, here!", he yells as he waves his rapier over his head, trying to distract the monster from the civilians surrounding it.

Move up 30' towards the creature.

Knowledge rolls:

Not sure if any of these are applicable. Trying to identify the monster.

Yeah...saw that after I hit submit. :)

Jon dons his armor and straps his sword to his side. "Well, I'm hoping I won't need you tonight.", he says to the crude flute that he carved. He stuffs it in his belt and walks out on deck.

Approaching the others, he is amazed at the enormous tree in front of them. "I have got to see the inside of that! I've never seen anything like that in my life! Everyone else game?", he asks the others.

Hmmm...Not sure what the DC for carving a flute is. :)

I think a flute would be a minimum of 15, quite a hard object to create, and a real good quality flute would be 20. However, you have made a simple instrument, that when blown will most of the time sound musical, so using the flute you just created gives you 80% chance that a musical tune comes out(1-80). Are you OK with that as an idea to continue? Not perfect but you can play it most of the time, its just very difficult to get a tune out sometimes. Or we can discuss, but I like a little randomness and danger brought about by things like this.

Sure. That's fine. I might go shopping for a better instrument if we go into town sometime.

Jon strolls around the deck with a mug of ale. He sidles up to George and asks, "So George...how are we feeling today?"

Is George acting strange?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3

As Jon looks at the red mark, you notice and Jon can't avoid it that young master George, is rather fidgety. With a look at George, Jon quizzes him about his 'insect bite'. George is obviously lying about it. In a bit of a panic about being found out and in a bit of a fluster he says, "Sir, please don't tell the cap'n you found me asleep, it won't go down well. He told me to keep watch for you here and I wasn't. He won't be well pleased."

It is common for sailors to be flogged for disobeying a ship's master. It's the normal punishment and accepted as such.

"Well, the captain must think you're a decent sailor to leave you here alone. I guess we will let this one slide, but I think you owe me one George!", Jon says with a wink.

George, hearing Harry's quip about the captain's boat, pipes up, "No! the cap'n and crew took it back. The cap'n said he wanted to get back as soon as he could. Seemed in a bit of a hurry, but we got some fruit, nuts and various sorts of meat, but from the look of it not so much as you." As you load the stock on the launch, it becomes obvious you won't be able to get it all across in one trip.

"Ah well, good thing we came along before they devoured you!", Jon says to George.

Is George acting strange?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Jon stoops down to take a closer look at the marks on George's foot.

"Hmmmm..."

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

"You look like you've been out here a while George." Jon says as he gives the sailor a helping hand up. "Have you seen anyone or anything since the Captain left?"

Perception check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Is the Perception check 23 or is that the fort save DC?

DM Deevor wrote:

And a little bit of background for that last fight.

The family of 8 little boars had encroached upon the territory of 2 large dire boars. The dire boars were chasing the boars away and the little boars were running away. My idea for the encounter was that the 8 boars would have run at you, would have bullrushed you to get past, knocking you over on their way to freedom. Although Jon's sonic boom stopped that, best laid plans of DM's and mice etc...

All those boars bunched up together was too hard to pass up. :)

Jon notices Charles still struggling with his wounds.

"I think I can help you a bit friend.", he says as he touches him with the wand.

Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"Ha! We will toast to Cayden to celebrate our victory once we are back on that ship!"

Jon pulls down some branches and helps create litters.

Craft: 1d20 ⇒ 15

He examines the carcasses and casts a spell to ensure that there are no hidden diseases.

Cast Purify Food and Drink

"It looks like we will be eating well for a few weeks!" Jon says surveying the carcass. "Some rest sounds good. Fighting is hot, nasty work!"

He holds his holy symbol forward as the power of Cayden Cailean flows through him and throughout the clearing.

Channel #1: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Channel #2: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Channel #3: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

Awesome rolls :)

Jon takes his wand out of his pack and touches Charles with it a few times until his wounds close up. "There...now you are right as rain!", he says, "And rain sounds good right about now."

You cast both your 'Endure Elements' spells...once for yourself and once on Charles...keep the cast defensively roll...just let me know if you use a different cure spell and the spell it replaces..so thats Weapon of Awe or Lesser Restoration.

Ok. I thought I had one left :) Let's switch it out for Weapon of Awe.

Round 6

Crap...forgot about that other damage. That will teach me to post in a hurry at work. :)

Jon barely keeps his feet as he grasps his holy symbol and desperately tries to heal himself.

Convert Endure Elements to Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 and Cast Defensively (DC 17): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Wow...great time for a 20 :)

Jon feels a bit of strength flow back into his bones. He stumbles back behind Harry.
5-foot step to N5.

I never cast it on myself. I only cast it on Charles.
Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Round 5

Seeing his comrades all engaged with the huge boars, Jon steps forward and drives his rapier at the beast's chest.

5-foot step to O4 and attack the boar at O2-P3.

Attack (Bless, Inspire Courage, Power Attack): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage (Inspire Courage, Power Attack): 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Crit Confirm (Bless, Inspire Courage, Power Attack, Anatomist trait): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Damage (Inspire Courage, Power Attack): 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Round 4

Jon jumps back as Harry's axe cleaves the boar in two. "Well done! More pork to munch on!", he says.

He takes a step back and casts a spell. His comrades feel a bit better about their chances against the larger boars bearing down on them.

Cast Bless. Everyone get's +1 to hit.

Edit: It is a Morale bonus.

Hey! Watch that blade!

Jon stumbles back after the boar's attack. He feels dazed from the sudden blood loss, but strikes down against another boar.

5 foot step to O5 and attack.
Attack (power attack, inspire courage): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Confirm crit (w/trait bonus): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Crit dmg: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Jon moves past Thumper and Lysandra and strikes at one of the stunned boars.

Move to N4 and strike boar in N3.

Attack (Power Attack, Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage (Ferocious Strike): 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

If the boar is prone, then add 4 to my attack.

Round 1

Here! I think Lysandra let me borrow her flute....

Jon drops his crossbow and pulls out Lysandra flute. He starts playing a sailor's dirge that he learned on his father's ship. The sound builds up and bursts in the midst of the boars.

Sound Burst - DC 14 Fortitude save or stunned for 1 round
Sonic dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Centered at MN23 to affect all the boars, if possible.

He draws his rapier after casting the spell.

Jon will try one of trees.
Dex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Not bad. I assume I succeed?

Obviously, climbing in and out of the hammock has honed Jon's reflexes. He deftly grabs a few fruit from a tree and hops down with a satisfied grin on his face. "Who wants one?", he asks the group.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Excellent so far, was just down at one of our famous beaches (Manly) enjoying the crisp cool ocean and burning hot sands :)

Think it was starting again next week?

Or as soon as Harry and Jon finish all the beers.

That's nothing. It is going to get up to 50 degrees (F) here on Friday! Eat your heart out! :)

Hello all. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. When are we starting back up again?

Jon sets his pole down and rummages through his pack. "Ahhh...here we are", he says as he pulls out a bottle. "Cayden always provides." He uncorks the bottle takes a swig and hands it over to Harry.

Jon strolls over the captain's launch and takes a look inside.

Hmmm....what's this?, he thinks as he pulls out several fishing poles.

"Anyone else up for a bit of fishing?" he says to his comrades.

Digging into the dirt along the shore he finds several large worms. He baits his hook and then casts as far out as he can...

Charles Beecroft wrote:

Sweating profusely, Charles pulls the launch up the beach above the high-tide line, all the while glancing over his shoulder to look for any signs of the sea monsters...

"Jon, would you mind seeing if Cayden can protect me from this heat, so I can put my armor on whilst we are hunting?"

Assuming the answer is yes, Charles puts his armor on.

"Ah, good idea Charles. That armor looks as hot as mine.", Jon says and speaks an incantation. Charles feels coolness rush over his body as the heat dissipates from him.

Cast Endure Elements on Charles.

Heavy Harry wrote:

Seeing Harry's wounds are not quite closed, Jon pulls out his wand and touches Harry on the chest. Harry's wounds seem to close completely.

Jon leans over, so Harry can see his face. "Harry, you should be back up on your feet in just a few minutes. You should thank Cayden that I'm around." he says with a grin.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Jon carefully makes his way over to Harry. The launch is not quite as steady as he would like. He examines Harry as best he can.

"Laying down on the job again, huh?", he says to Harry.

Heal check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

He holds his holy symbol forth, closes his eyes and says a prayer to Cayden Cailean. A soft yellow light eminates from the symbol and extends out across the water.

With Lysandra's help, Harry was pushed into the launch last time..sorry if I didn't make it absolutely clear...with the strength check you had you can either get into the launch, before Charles starts to organise the boat to row to shore or you can do something else.

Ok. In that case I will pull myself into the launch.
