We're about to begin an all-new season of PACG Organized Play in Edmonton, and we're kicking things off with a Demo Day, just for new players!

Date: Wednesday, November 14
Time: 6:30 pm start
Place: The Adventurers Guild - 15211 Stony Plain Road

Dive into the fray with the Season of Tapestry's Tides! Our adventurers find themselves sailing the seas of an unexplored, otherworldly realm. Sharpen your blade and polish your spyglass—mysterious and terrible things await beneath the waves...

Any questions, feel free to post here!

Can I just take a moment to revel in the fact that I'm basically getting CS support from the creator of the game?! In our outsource-everything world, this level of fan engagement is something really special. Thank you, sincerely.

I'll check with the local players to see if anyone else's UW deck has this error so we can combo up any necessary replacements into one shipment. Thanks again!

We're almost up to 4-6 ourselves. How many scenarios have been released so far?

So far, just 4-6A. But that was back on May 2.

Any word on when Adventure 4-6 will be released in its entirety?

Thanks!

Ranger was a popular choice for brand-new players at the beginning of this season, particularly Harsk. Easy to see why; very strong combat, diverse array of skills, lots of blessings and a built-in combat assist so you're always engaged, even on other players' turns.

The Clerics have been total rock stars from the very beginning. All champs in a fight, and the whole table's best friend with all the built-in healing. The Cleric deck on its own might not be "optimized," but it's pretty decent and can support any of the four characters through a campaign. With Kyra's "add-on" powers to her combat checks with swords, I was fine keeping the humble basic Longswords in her deck through pretty much the entirety of Season 0.

Nope, I was wrong, Hawkmoon has the right of it. Apparently it's been too long since I actually played him LOL.

Wow, that does seem really strong. Thematically, I kinda liked the idea of triggers catching him off-guard. It's tough to find a phone booth in the dungeon...

A question for the designers: How difficult was it to refrain from referring to his "kit" as a "utility belt"?

Seeing a lot of comments along the lines of "THIS is happening now, and THIS is happening now! That's why they're so busy!"

But that begs the question, what was happening back in August 2017 when this thread started? If a Magus Character Sheet was conceived back then, it would have been born by now.

Personally, I'm not desperate for the sheets and I'm all for patience. But a human gestational period does seem like an awfully long time to wait for something that — from the outside looking in — shouldn't be too big a job for a decent graphic designer* to kick out in a few hours.

From the Organized Play side of things, I do miss having up-to-date sheets for players to peruse, especially new players. That visual can be a real hook for the imagination. I had one person flipping through the sheets, and her eyes went wide when she saw Raz, the blue-haired Gnome Paladin riding an armoured warhound. "I wanna be HER." Boom. Sale made.

It feels like letting players down — and costing our store sales — to NOT have some of these characters that are so visually striking "on display." There could be a player out there right now who doesn't even know yet how much they want to play Celeste, or Yoon, or Zelhara, because they haven't had that artwork spark something in their imagination. ("Where are her arms?" "Is that a teddy bear?" "That's a LOT of piercings...")

*I'm married to an exceptional graphic designer if you need to outsource.

Hmm. It looks like the "Preparing the Game Box" sidebar was accidentally omitted from the Guide layout starting with 3.0. I will have it reinstated.

Here's the previous text (it may change a bit when it appears in 4.2, but only in cosmetics, not intent):
[snip]

Thanks, Vic! Glad to know that intent remains intact.

In previous seasons, there has been some confusion about whether or not basic Blessings should be purged along with all the other basics/elites. Would it be possible to get that clarified in the updated/reinstated version of this text?

Thanks again!

A couple quick ones (hopefully) about Scenario 2B-2C and the Season reward...

1. 2B-2C's During This Scenario text includes: "When you defeat and would banish a monster that has the Animal trait, shuffle it into a random unoccupied location."

That would include the Animal henchmen, Owly Thing and Piggy, correct? (Giving our pint-sized green heroes "extra" chances to close locations?)

2. The Season reward is: "Each player chooses one of his Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild characters. That character may treat the loot Lamashtu’s Bauble as if it is in her Class Deck box."

I can't help but notice the Lamashtu's Bauble card printed in the PDF is labelled as a Loot 2. Meaning the future character it's assigned to would have to use a level 2 upgrade to include it in their deck.

Is that intentional, or should it be a Loot P, like SotRi's Scales of Remembrance and SotRu's Runewell's Echo? (SotS's Councilor's Ring was eventually edited to be a Loot B-Basic, so that's an option, too.)

If a change is made to the We Be Goblins Too! PDF, would it be possible to fill all the blank space on the last proxy page (pg.12) with additional copies of Lamashtu's Bauble (as was done with Scales of Remembrance in SotR Adv 6)? That way one could hand out physical proxies to multiple players without have to print off the same page over and over.

Thanks very much!

When I ran Darago and Wrathack through WotR, though, I mixed in the Wizard and Ranger decks. I was treating it as a "Suicide Squad"-style adventure -- send evil to fight evil.
This is a favorite combo of mine as well.

<Blush!>

Wow, this must be how J-Law felt.

I don't suppose it would be possible to get the Adventure 2-6 PDF updated to include a page that's just a bunch of Runewell's Echo (the reward card for SotRu)?

I'd like to print off physical copies to give to everybody who finishes the season here ("Congratulations, you can put THIS in your next character's deck!"), but it's wasteful to print off the existing page (packed with 2-6 villains and henchmen) over and over for a single copy of Runewell's Echo each time.

Please and thanks!

Getting a forum post favorited by Tanis always made me feel like I was doing something right.

Thank you for your support of a fledgling VO, and thanks for all the amazing stuff that came out of your head. Figuratively speaking, of course.

In our OP campaign, Seelah upgraded a Fortified Shell Armor and Retriever in close succession.

Can't help but imagine her, riding along on her dog, wearing a lobster suit, blowing her Horn of Battle Clarity.

"Go home, Seelah, you're drunk."

I think that Mummy's Mask should incorporate "arglebargle" instead of Before You Act (and "bargleargle" for After You Act) just because that sounds better. ;)

Well, that's just ridiculous. CLEARLY, Bargleargle should stand in for Before you act and Arglebargle should be for After. That just makes good linguistic sense.

I like to imagine that Mon Mothma was misheard; she didn't say "Many Bothans..." but rather was referring to Manny Bothans, used speeder salesman and undercover Rebel agent.

"HI! I'm Manny Bothans, and I'm DYING to bring you this information -- ABOUT THESE DEALS!!"

We played it as written, and found it quirky and fun. ("I need a blessing to help me fail this check.") Challenging, too, with the extra moving parts for each close; came down to the very last turn.

At the end of the scenario, when you have your plunder (is that what it's called in Wrath?), you can throw the applicable CD cards in there for you to choose from in addition to the box's cards. So if you acquired a 2 weapon during the scenario you could choose between the one you acquired and one of your CD 2 weapons.

That's how I'd do it.

Ooh, I like that! It gives you the benefit of using the CD cards and the cool set-specific cards.

If I'm interpreting this correctly, it sounds a little TOO good. With regular "home game" advancement, you can get a lot of upgrades each scenario, but you have no control over what you find. In OP, your upgrades come more slowly (one per scenario), but each one is (in theory) tuned to your character.

This suggestion seems like it would offer the best of both systems with no balancing drawbacks. (Again, if I'm catching your drift correctly.)

I played Heggal through S&S, no Class Deck cards mixed in. It was glorious. He was MADE for that AP.

I'll preface this by saying that a swashbuckling maritime setting is my absolute favourite flavour of fantasy (it might have something to do with growing up landlocked). Pirates, buried treasure, ship battles, sea monsters -- love all that stuff. Some folks didn't care for the nautical theme of S&S, preferring their adventures on solid ground (or under it, as the case may be), but it was right up my alley.

That said, without fun and functional game mechanics, even the richest setting will fall flat. And I can honestly say, I can't. Get. Enough of Skull & Shackles!

I ran a Class Deck Kyra through the entire Organized Play Season Zero, and Tontelizi (Fighter Class Deck) and Darago (Wizard Class Deck) through parts of it. I didn't even crack the scenarios in the box until completing the OP. And once I did, they did not disappoint.

I've run a team of Jirelle, Seltyiel, and Oloch through the entire Adventure Path, and it was a blast! I'm most of the way through a second run with Lirianne, Ranzak and Heggal (Cleric Class Deck -- that guy was MADE for S&S!). And I'm already looking ahead to a third try with Feiya, Lini, and Merisiel. (I might wait until Feiya's Iconic Heroes mini and the associated card comes out. That'll give me a chance to play through Wrath!)

Each group has had different strengths and weaknesses, and each character has pursued different deck-building goals. With the inherent random factor in the location decks, even familiar scenarios have a different "feel" every time you play them.

I would not hesitate to recommend S&S! I wish you clear sailing!

With a name like that in an earlier set you could have recharged it to take care of one of the checks!

Maybe a Glory Hound named it? :D

The "Horn of Marginally Improved Odds of Victory" doesn't have quite the same ring to it...

For the record, two people just had a reasoned discussion and came to an agreement... On the Internet. Something should be done to mark the occasion.

The launch of PACG OP in Edmonton went -- dare I say it? -- swimmingly! The "On the Horizon" scenario offered the players a nice mix of decisive victories and "wah-wahhn" moments; plenty of checks were missed by exactly 1, and there was one incidence of "You've got this on anything but snake-eyes" -- you can guess what happened next. But the stalwart crew rallied to pull off a final-turn win! Thrilling!

More maritime adventure awaits -- and we're always happy to press gang take on more crew!

Day and Time: Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
Location: The Adventurer's Guild (15211 Stony Plain Road)

For more information (and especially if you're interested in a demo session), please contact pacg.edm@gmail.com.

Good luck to all Card Guild crews out there, whatever port you call home!
