Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Sorry everyone! Things have gotten to busy in my world. I'll look forward to watching it progress though!

*bow out*

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Jetto steps back to defend Dreithik.

sorrry guys life has gotten busy over here and I can't get the time for quality posts :/

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

The Tachyron launched itself past Jetto its whip like tail lashed out and caught him across the his thigh. Devils

Jetto, using his shield, body checked the next incoming tachyron attempting to throw it to the ground, he really threw his shoulder behind the blow thinking about the rest of the pack moving past him.

use another effort im not sure might or speed??

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Jetto bellowed as he let loose the bola attempting to take down the beast behind the one just hit by Dreithik's mental onslaught.

Ill use effort on that roll. should put me at 10 speed pool

Success:
Jetto's bellow became a whoop as the bola wrapped around the creatures legs. But the clever hunter was already moving, drawing his sword and leaping to intercept the lead creature shield front and center.

Failure:
looking worriedly at the pack Jetto draws his sword and leaps to intercept the lead creature shield leading the way.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

While watching the Tachyons purse the aneen and its rider, Jetto tried to identify the alpha of the pack.

Identify assess: 1d20 ⇒ 3 trained

instead he sighed deeply thinking about how much an aneen cost on the market.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Setting down his bag full of water Jetto hastily prepared his sheild and adjusted his coif.

pulling a bola from his belt he shouted to the aneen driver

this way!

then he prepared for the beasts to come into range.

helllo Altha.

Action one:

Laughing gruffly at Dreithik "No, no it didn't help."

in town Jetto hastily searches out a arms dealer "Ill meet you in the tavern!' he dashed off in an attempt to snag something a bit sturdier, perhaps a suit of chain armor. He had ready to trade his own well kept armor and some fascinating slippers. Well worth a shirt of chain and a few water skins..perhaps

pursuasion: 1d20 ⇒ 17

success:
Jetto returned to the group lugging a new back pack full of water and and hefting a new layer of chainmail.

failure:
frustrated Jetto tries again offering his anchor stone up with the armor as well.

Getting back to the tavern Jetto hangs his equipment on a chair next to himself and gets a meal.
Taking a rest he contemplates the situation up to now, Jetto feels slightly better physically, but more worried the more he thought about it.
recovery: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He shakes off the stiffness returning the speed to his limbs.

Looking up he sees the others clearly they were ready too. Hefting the pack he got ready to go. As we leave Jetto turns to Agia, "did you ever take apart that panel? I mean we are pursuing and probably rescuing them, it seems appropriate we should collect an advance, doesn't it?"

Action Two:

leaning down Jetto inspected the mounts tracks looking to identify the creature Tracking: 1d20 ⇒ 13 trained
Jetto, recognizing the tracks, It told him a great deal about the raiders, Asses Danger: 1d20 ⇒ 5 trained but he kept this quite unsure of its accuracy. were these raiders and the meeting was chance? Why did the priests come to this space?
He asked the rest of the group to stand back and away and looked over the zone of struggle he could see if the priests were taken alive. He pointed out the runic markings around the perimeter and asked the others if they recognized the runes.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

"At least they didn't go rogue." Jetto idly lifted the canned veggies and rolled them between his hands. Setting one down in the light as he received the powder Agia handed him.

"Yea, lets secure a guide or at least a look at a map then head out this evening. After a respite" His eyes fell onto the guard. "When will she wake up Dreithik, she will wake up won't she? Does she ever get what you took back?"

Whats the status of the guard.... I mean she got a spear pretty hard?

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action one:
Scowling at Dreitiks brevity. Jetto cautiously walks into the first story of the tower. Eyes setting on the crates he starts opening one as the other pull the guardswoman in.

with a bit of prying with from his sword he levered one of the boxes open.

Action two:
While these crates were interesting the talk of numenera drew Jetto. Now it was his turn to be impressed, they handled the esoteric symbols with ease Jetto watched attentively. Finally he had to speak up. "I don't think looting is appropriate, yet. Lets wait before we pull their

Looking over the panels:

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

sorry!

Oh jeez, Seeing his companions slumped forms. Jetto holds still and looks around for any sort of projectors. Then he neatly steps off the yellow path and drags his companions to the shaded side of the compound. There he checks their pulse affirming their life. well whatever that was seemed effective...
Upon their awakening Jetto questions them as to what happened and to their state of mind and health, affirming that they were uninjured.

Action two:

Upon seeing an emitter:
I saw an emitter I'm sure we could take it apart through force if need be. I'd rather deal with machines then that ornery being.

Not seeing an emitter:
"You can look but I didn't see anything. Does it affect you again? Gah I wouldn't want to wake this ornery being up but... Unless you can speak to the unconscious mind too Dreithik." Jetto looked over at Dreithik suspiciously.

that cypher levels are just like npc levels they are just an abstracted assement as to how it should interact with things a lvl 2 object might not be able to affect a lvl 5 creature, a lvl 5 cypher could destroy a lvl 3 cypher or a lvl 4 material.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Oops!
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

oooo... my inability is movement-related tasks... uhoh I just reread...maybe that would be applied to a tackle?

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Finding himself much to close so such an alien power Jetto scrambles off the mindless woman... good truth, what was that.
"what did you do to her?" Jetto stared at Dreithik as if he had grown a new head.

Action two:

let's go in for sure Jetto looks over the locking mechanism an the door as a whole for wards and other such protections.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

ooc: I'm still pretty optimistic for the combat. It's just so simple improvise the rolls for some cinematic stuff. Im trying to think like that at least. also I don't think you'll fall behind in the fighting.. Just about ever now. You start so proficient. I do hope you can explore the dervish stuff a bit though if the margr were to raid though .. :D.

I'm quite pumped on this group and our little quirks. I'm curious to see how we progress.i think we can really play up jetto and the nano tension, like was said: agia and jetto the tribal brutality / steadfast medieval codes(I'm curious were Antar sits on that scale too) and then Jetto and Dreithiks crazy powers I'm still try to think up a good reaction to that.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

gah haha I cant get it right! yes thats what i meant

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

is she Mad! Four armed individuals and still she holds out against us!

"How dense are you!?" Jetto runs forward tackling the guard, attempting to bring her to the ground.
Imma gunna use that thar effort on this roll.

Success:
Jetto smashes into Hataniah around the waist and the two of them go careening into the earth Jetto, with luck not grace, ending up on top, he glances over fearing the blade of her spear and instead seeing the weapon had been knocked from her grasp.

Failure:
"WOOUUF" Jetto gasped as the air was knocked from him, Hataniah skillfully ducked his tackle and lifted him over herself throwing him to the ground.

Quote:

Fabian:

Er, not quite the dual teleporting but certainly teleporting you three to inside the gate. :)

fair enough.

on my turn I use that cypher on the three of us. booooom!

Jetto pulls a wipfruit sized sphere, seemingly of metal, out of a pouch on his belt. He speaks a few words for luck and protection from misfortune then throws it to the ground. It shatters like a ceramic pot and with a vertigo inducing twang the three of us are blinked forward suddenly surrounding the lone guard.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Side notE:
I like Agia summation of the use of intrusions. Im super pro intrusion, I think its a fun way to spice up the story.

I'm going to have to look up FATE, sounds cool, I'm coming from Dnd3.5 and Pathfinder primarily and am quite tired of the number crunching metagaming and am Vastly preferring these story/rp oriented systems combat feels sooo much more alive when you can break a chair over someone with out suffering a -4 and costs you two moves and a social interaction is much more fluid.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

"Agia wait, I got this one"

when my turn comes i got a fancy cypher that can get us past the gate. Fabian, would it be possible to use this cypher and get the guard in the blast radius thus putting us on the inner side of the fence and her on the outter? basically teleporting us in and her out? hehe

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

As to your other questions fabian:

Id be saving up for "leveling" stuff like antar es. I want ta see what this toon can do!

As to combat and what not I say we go for it, no need to make onetime/pregens characters, lets see what these guys can do, throw a margr raid at us! haha ;). Though I'm not against some one timers either I got a pyromancer in mind haha.

But, that said, looking over the system it seems reallly hard for a pc to actually die, the system is so story oriented that Jetto could be down might and speed pools and its like hes limping along barely conscious kind thing. So As a GM I wouldn't worry to much about overpowered foes. Thats one of the reasons I like it so much.

Also I didn't feel like the book stats out everything. To me it looks like the game has abstracted npc creation in a really flexible way so that a GM only has to worry about describing the creature in a fascinating way then decide, oh yea its a level three, now its really easy to manage the creature's stats on the fly. That and Cyphers seem to be able to come from anything, oh that viper beast spits acid, alright I snag its acid glands, oh look their biomechanical in nature, blammo, cyper!

The book just gives a lot of examples to base this improvisation off seems to just try to gt the Imagination flowing, like, theoretically its pretty easy to add metal shamans riding spirits, they just need a level, motivations, and a few special abilites. Whereas doing that in dnd or whitewolf can require a lot more balancing out in stat and canon. Though i see what you mean about the setting having some standard story tropes. but i mean, ya gotta have a crusade right!

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Jetto joins the group under the canvas and takes a drink.

action one:
"look" Jetto points out the mechanism turning the stones into smooth stones. does this seem to be where redstone is made? as in theyre not mining slabs of this strange stone but putting raw normal stone in and receiving redstone slabs back? and where is the screaming man in relations to the ball filled furnace or in relation to the brittle section? "what the hell is that?"

on the way over to the strange furnace like contraption Jetto stops by the brittle section of the mine and taps the wall with Agia listening for hollow spaces. Is this section, like, a section of redstone that is brittle that can't be harvested properly or a section of natural rock thats brittle so it can't be dug through to reveal more redstone?
perception on the brittle space: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
examination of the metallic furnace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Action two:
looking back at Agia "Ha, sure hope this town can be saved! Truth, is life really that brutal where you're from? However, I too, believe these priests have gone rogue and wouldn't mind knocking that obtuse guard around a bit, gahhh those like her irk me." totally down for some friction, it makes the moment-of-potential-betrayal-that-turns-to-a-daring-save moment so much more defining!

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

I came hunting for a pbp numenera game this being my first I don't know where normally people would find one. But i hit up two others that got a game organized but never off the ground maybe theyll contact you

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action One:

"Madame?" Jetto called out just to make sure she was truly catatonic. Perception to see her hands: perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"She did this to herself, boy!? Well son, it looks like we can't help your mother by staying here we'll have to try to get help in another way. Unless she becomes more alert."
Jetto looks over the house to see any signs of forced entry or of strange tracks that don't belong to the child/mother.perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 If there is access to the roof I gain it to look there too. We need to make sure this isn't a real thing and is actually a hallucination, thoughts on detecting such power Dreithik? Agia?." guess that portly mayor was right in writing this off as hallucinations.

Action two:
muttering under his breath "I told you we should nap through the heat, sweet truth." fanning himself with his hat only made it worse too.
Listening to the man Jetto knew something wasn't being said asses lies: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 but couldn't quite put his finger on it...shoulda spent that effort!! gah!
"So you're not affected by these hallucinations then? How strange, how strange that you, the mayor, and the owner of the mine don't seem effected as badly...if at all... you do see the implication here?" As a matter of fact," Jetto pulls out a small device with a strange symbol on it, flashes it at the foreman giving him just long enough a look to see a symbol he doesn't recognize then puts it away, "As a matter of fact we are not from here, we've been assigned by the clav in the captial to investigate this issue and find out who's causing this. Because we know it's a who." Shooting the grouchy foreman a piercing glare, trickery/intimidate: 1d20 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 3 = 21 Now I suggest, you explain to me whats going on around here, we have been given instructions to see this through in any way possible, the redstone must flow." with a pointed glance at the bulky Antar Es "I suggest you start three weeks ago and work from there. and explain to me when was the last time the priests were here and what they did while here."

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Conversation with the siblings (cont)

"Tell me more about the priests? In what ways were they so strange?" Jetto shifts in his chair "And lets pretend the rumors are true, what have people been saying about the ghost? And what are these dreams like to you? Finishing his drink and standing up "Can you tell me more about the source of the Redstones."

Picking back up his shield and hat the hunter looks to Antar Es "I agree I think we should speak to our little friend's mother and try to meet this ghost then go see the mine. Though I worry, Agia, will you be okay? Perhaps we could nap through the heat of the day and visit this dream world ourselves. Then tackle the ghost and mine in the late afternoon/evening when the workers are gone."

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action one:
Holy fecund... Antar Es, are you glass? I mean, if you're crystalline, this is badddd spirit. Hypnotic glowworms and coma inducing powder, ah f$+& " I was always warned of such clav's those who hunt beyond the Papacy, those who seek power instead of knowledge, control instead of freedom...

Action Two
Speaking to the siblings Couple WEEKS!! people have been without sleep for weeks!? You still demand they work!?" Jetto look stunned... He ran his hand through his hair and finished his drink. "Bartender! he called out One more please. looking back to his new drinking companions Aihhhh, aliright My name is Jetto this is Antar Es, I was sent here from Neiblish, I need to know what happened about two weeks ago? What changed in the Mine? Did they undercover a new section? When did the first rumors of a Ghost reach your ears? Think hard about that one, Was it from a specific tunnel? A specific individual? When did the Priests first get involved? Are the priests involved in the community or were they distant normally? Have you been effected?

The Hunter looked to Antar Es, concern creased his face, We're in trouble a community that won't sleep followed by a shipment of coma inducing powders and hypnotic worm! Sweet Truth"

Action Three:
Jetto downs his new drink and breathes deep:
revovery: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

ooc: @Agia and Dreithik: Where did you two have your background exchange? at the table or at the bar while getting the drinks? I guess I'm just curious if the rest of us could have overheard the conversation?

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action one (cont):
pats Antar Es on the back "I'm sure that climb would have been a cinch for you but the Aeon Priest might not have appreciated us thumping their defender. Lets assume they're innocent for now and not evoke their anger."

Jetto (and anyone else making that check) overhears that the lady is the owner/manager of the mine and is concerned about the low energy of her workers. The fat man is concerned about the general health of the population.

OOC: Antar Es and Jetto can loiter or talk to the couple in the tavern while Dreithik and Agia do the ritual, seems a good reason to wait for a few minutes. Then we could go talk to the mother for a few while the heat of the day passes and see the mines come afternoon, thoughts?

around the table Jetto follows up on Antar Es' question about the glowing larvae, looking to Agia and Dreithik "Do those...things... seem familiar to either of you?"
I'd like to roll on that too with my assessment skill(trained)

When the boy comes in Jetto offers the rest of his meal and tell him "Not to worry, instead we will go to your mother shortly." while the boy finishes the meal Jetto turns to the man and woman.
"Excuse me, may we share a word. You are familiar with the towns problem? Jetto gets up and joins them gesturing to any of the group to do likewise. "I have heard rumors of ghosts, besides such talk though can you tell me more about recent activities at the mines. Has there been anything new, dug up, or uncovered?"

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action one:
I agree Dreithik, I don't like this one bit. They should have been expecting us. I'll catch up with you guys at the tavern, that drink sounds called for."

Jetto watched the others move off and reminded himself that life was harsh in the Beyond, not everyone had lived a life full of Steadfast luxuries. Looking to the child he found such luxuries had created space in his heart for the helpless.
"Child, get your mother and bring her to the tavern, she can walk yes? I can help her but we need to know about this ghost." Jetto hands his last shin,"thank you for the tiles, Hurry up now, get her to the tavern quick." Jetto looks to the sun checking the time of day. if the child says she cant walk or isn't mobile Jetto goes with him and brings them to the tavern. Also, how long until sunset?

Action two is based on the child's mother being able to get to the tavern herself if the child says she can't or something Jetto goes to help her.
Deep in thought Jetto, distractedly asks Deymish to get us a meal while he slides into a table. Hanging his hat and shield on the back of the chair Jetto nonchalantly takes Agia up on her offer, letting her and Dreithik do the foot work. His thoughts flit over the brusque Aeon Priest and the little boys mother.
He is pulled from his reverie by the agitated conversation nearby. Turning his attention that way Jetto questions the mans concerns...He seems more concerned about the output of the quarry then the workers themselves. Who is this woman he questions? Is she some quarry supervisor? maybe she knows about something what happened at the mine recently.... Jettos listens in on their conversation until Deymish and the other return or until the child and mother walk through the door. (ooc: listen check? got that training, booyah)

Jetto absentmindedly picks up one side of the box with Agia and takes another glance at the town (perception roll?) Perhaps a nap, I think I should see this nightmare for myself, Elriel's description sounded disturbing but didn't sound horrifying...

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Turning back around Jetto glares at the guard, You're probably not even from this town are you? That would explain you lack of care for what happens to these people."

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Jetto's jaw drops staring shocked at the stubborn guard... (ooc: dammmmmnnnn yououuu dice gods lol) this is why I left Ghan, such stubborn ignorance, why listen to reason when a Knight can listen to his orders.
"And I haven't liked your obstinance since you first decided to deny this town the help we're providing." he spat a gob of dusty phlegm at her feet.

turning to the others and lowering his voice: "well is this an issue to force? I have a, unique, tool to get us past this, buuuuttt, well, like Antar Es said..."
Why would the Aeon Priests be this...uncooperative, weren't they expecting Deymish? a clav that closes its gates with such insistence, sure does smell of guilt to me.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

"Sweet Truth!, I hate you letter of the law people, Elriel sent us up here! Can't you see we have medicine to help this doomed town!" Jetto, calms a bit "You haven't been down there in a bit have you... its getting worse quickly. DAYdreams are happening people are just slipping into the nightmare, two more suicides have occurred, and here we are the cure wasting away in the heat and the sun, all because of a stubborn guard... Dammit woman, we bring salvation!"

ooc: I'd like to roll again this time with an effort as my lie gets more elaborate and I push the safety of the town onto her shoulders.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Action one:
"Ha, souvenir are for those who feel the need to brag and merchants with spare shin. I'm curious to see the source of such a quarry. They say in Omar that people mine the metals from an ancient machine, pulling it apart to make Azure Steel."

Action two:
Agia:
This was going nowhere fast. Agia wanted out of the sun sooner rather than later and this woman's increasingly stubborn attitude rubbed her the wrong way.
"We're not about to leave them behind after bringing them this far and we don't have to hew to any schedule set by your bloody priests! If all of us decided that we wanted to go in, what exactly do ya think you could do to stop us all by yourself?"
[/smaller]

Siezing upon the potential opportunity, Jetto spoke up again "Shes right" Jetto makes a pointed glance at Antar Es " Plus, the Priests ARE expecting us in a timely fashion this cargo will expire if left in the sun."

"Madness! How could each of us SEE something different!" Jetto seems disconcerted by the tiles display.
"Is there a place that they get these tiles from or are they manufactered here?"

" Jetto, Jetto Kull of Ghan, The pleasure is mine and my sword is yours should the need arise... and the pay be promised. From the south you say? Your skin seemed so crystalline, I thought for sure you were a refugee of the crusades come from the north." Jetto smiled, here two polar opposites of the world perfectly contrasted in their brief exchange. Jetto's Truth was accented with a Ghan twang common to the nobility of the northern Steadfasts, while Agia's Truth was smattered with shin-chat her strange accent a sibilant hiss, like snow over a glacial rift.
ahhh the power of shin, the great equalizer.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Jetto's eyes wander over the crew.. Lingering on Agia a mutant? he wonders a mutant, a masked man, and a hired sword... how typical for the Beyond, secrets, disguises and outcasts, ha. By the Truth, why the Angulans seek to homoginize the world, I'll never understand .

His eyes dart back to the masked figure in the dark robes I wonder what chased him out here... a man like me perhaps...

Game on!

"Well, I was headed that way until I heard the commotion. Seeing your sail I wanted to make contact in case you left in a hurry. Though I see you're hear to trade, I've had experience negotiating with the Priests before perhaps, I could trade passage on the ship for such skills?" Jetto greets the crew casually then looks at the retreating towns-people with clear nervousness. "something is very wrong here, they're...cornered creatures, I sure would appreciate the company."

ooc: sorry didnt mean to jump the gun! :) also thanks for the corrections I'll add them right now.

ooc: as to the plan I say we start with the priests work out from there.

Action 1

Aha! voices, finally, this place had seemed so strangely quiet

Jetto, briskly walked back the way he had come, If that's another ship I had better secure passage before I talk to the Aeon Priests. No sense getting stuck here for any length of time. He picked up the pace the shouts having died down.

Action 2

walking through the crowd Jetto laughed inwardly, what had happened here!? to tiny for a riot but to bloody for a greeting Seeing a tall lithe man carrying an unconscious figure off the boat Jetto moved to intercept and assist his way down the dock.
"boarders? raising an eyebrow "No wonder the last captain dropped me off so unceremoniously. What happened here?"

awesome! yup Jack. thanks, I finally figured out how to get into my profile to edit it! I'm making adjustments now.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

Hi everyone! Still unsure how to add the tag line. I don't see a space for 'class' might be because my account is so new though?

I was thinking to make a Clever Jack that Hunts with great skill.

Jetto was the second son of a family that earned its titles serving as Knights of the Angulan Order. Jetto, to clever for his own good, constantly was at odds with the strict Knightly Hierarchy. He was picked up by the Aeon order though and began an employment under the priests as a bounty hunter, hunting down dangerous mutants and heretical priests in the Steadfast. Now He's been sent to Seshar looking for an individual. Being in the Beyond has driven him undercover so to speak. He is posing as a common merchant guard/sellsword. The Aeon's authority not being nearly as appreciated out here, he worries that if word got out that an Order's hunter was in Seshar it might cause his mark to go to ground.

I thought my connections could be with Dreithik and Zion. Drethik recognizes Jetto, and his loyalties, from Rathscor Fortress; The last place in the Steadfast that he was chased from. Could this hunter be here for him!? has the Aeon order finally put a bounty on his head? Jetto however doesn't recognize him, because they haven't.. or have they???... but Jetto seaks to maintain his cover. Will Drethik blow the lid off my ruse? Or use it to his advantage!? How will the other feel about a trained hunter in their midst? (Im looking at you mr. Cyborg! ;)

I have however been sent out to find a individual name Zion, he being one of the few individuals who can assuredly recognize my mark. I have a vague description but no images or drawings. (this one can wait indefinitely too being zions current status. :{ sorry for your loss)

If this gets approved from all involved and the GM I'll send in the toon w/ pools, tricks, and equipment!

Thoughts? Concerns? hiccups?
