Logic 45: 1d100 ⇒ 49

"Hmmmmm."

When the falling becomes apparent.

"I think we have more pressing questions to answer right now, like are we falling to our deaths and can we stop it?"

"Neither is certain in this place. The Necrontyr have multiple technologies that we know of, and perhaps many more we don't, that are based on ungodly sophisticated space warping physics theorems. This space may be unlimited in dimension, despite the size of the tower on the outside." The Inquisitor comments. "Regarding how to choose which button to push, our logical choice may be limited to enee menee minee moee."

Forbidden Lore(Xenos)45: 1d100 ⇒ 58

"Hmmmmm." The Inquisitor says, but little more for awhile. "I'll leave the choice up to the team."

Lillian ignites the hololithic projector on the front of her coffin and uses it as a lamp to illuminate the darkness and see what she can see.

At the moment she is just exploring to see what she can find. She'll only use psi powers if she has too.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

If Necrons are involved are you using the cool 3rd ed Necron lore and storyline or the goofier 5th ed lore?

Are the Necrons terrifying star god worshiping terminator-like menaces or kooky robo Egyptians who just play around?

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

"The Necrontyr created many wonders in their time, using sciences so advanced they are nearly indistinguishable from magic to us now." Lillian comments through her Voxcaster. "This could possibly be an artifact effect of their time, if it is not of more recent artifice."

She engages her antigrav drive to the max and her coffin slowly rises up. "I will explore this anomaly myself." She says as she moves the coffin to touch it.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

I'm here, website is giving me serious problems with loading and posting and constantly crashes, I have some time to read through even with that annoyance though right now will attempt to post soon.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

Holy crap, I am sorry to hear that.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

The Inquisitor is silent for the moment, pondering the Pylon before her.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

Sounds good, I'll still be with the group then.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

Back, sorry for the delay. It seems we've retconned that I'm back at the mansion now, I'll catch up on the gameplay thread and see if there is anything I can add.

Edit: or I guess I can still be there as the game hasn't moved too far forward?

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

Lillian sets her sensors to pick up life form readings and heat bleed from weapon power packs, searching for any armed men down below.

Once everyone is ready Lillian beckons them to join her. Her support coffin lifts a few centimeters off the ground and glides through the halls of the mansion til it exits and boards the skimmer.

As she leaves a mean looking woman named Freya, Lillian's Arbitrator bodyguard, joins her and enters the skimmer as well.

+Let's get going, shall we?+ She beckons the team.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

I'm ready.

+It would be best to maintain what secrecy we can for as long as we can, it won't last forever though and if you find yourselves in a tough spot where the authority of the Inquisition can help do what you must.+ The Inquisitor informs the team.

So I'm still here, just give me another day RL stuff and I'll be back to you all. Thanks for understanding.

It's all good, take your time=)

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

Alright, cool. =)

Edit: Phineus I haven't responded to your post yet as I don't know the exact detailed answers to your questions and I haven't decided if I should improvise or not yet=D

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

I'm thinking I would like an NPC bodyguard for my person as previously mentioned in the recruitment thread that isn't a PC so noone is stuck with me all the time but I have a gunman at my disposal if I'm alone and things get nasty.

I was thinking of grabbing an Arbitrator(DH corebook page 336) with an influence roll on a permanent basis, not the best warrior ever, but a decent bodyguard.

Would this be allowed?

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+Sounds good, even without the possibility of psychic ambush at the Pylons a skilled telekine can tip the scales in any hostile encounter, I'll want you as a prime member of our active team. If you do encounter hostiles try to keep one alive so we can see if we can learn anything from them.+ Lillian requests of Ludicus.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+You may certainly begin your investigation Federica, the Pylons themselves are close to inscrutable but I suspect our enemy has an interest in them. Be careful though, the pylons have an odd calming effect on the warp and the effect is stronger the closer you get to them, a skilled psyker can conceal himself very easily when close to them and ambush you. Keep your wits about you, it would kill me to lose you.+ Lillian admits.

+No plan in motion yet, we're in the information gathering stage at this point, I like to have my feet firmly planted before trying anything too complex. The Emperor favors the prepared.+

Lillian angles her coffin towards the rest of the group. +Speaking of which, everyone should remained armed and ready for combat at all times. I suspect this case is at least tangentially connected to Toth and that bastard is always fifty steps ahead of me but even if it isn't I've learned the hard way to expect an ambush, at all times.+

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+Your strength inspires me Gaius+ The Inquisitor replies. +The enemy certainly has connections within Cadia's Imperial organizations, they would have to to operate at all on this world, security is just too tight for it to be otherwise. Begin your work.+

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+On the ball as always Phineus, you have my permission for free reign to do as you think best on this mission, be circumspect though. I have a feeling we are poking a bee hive with this one, whomever these people are, they are dangerous.+ Lillian acknowledges.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+Gaius, good to see you old friend. I apologize for everything that has happened to you, I was unconscious for much of your interrogation, if I had been awake and coherent I would have done all in my power to stop what they did to you.+

The Inquisitor's coffin emits a strange noise that sounds almost like a long suffering sigh.

+You helped save my life that day, I wish I could have repaid the favor. Anything you require as we work together now is yours, just ask and I will make it happen if possible.+

Although Rakavet's brain and eyes had been augmented, he'd left his toungue well alone, and was grateful for it as the flavours flowed over it. Another bites, a slow chew and swallow. "My thanks for the refreshment, Inquisitor. I assume everything with your current housing is suitable for your needs? No malfunctions nor unnecessary discomfort?"

+Everything is perfect, thank you. The coffin meets all my needs both personal and technical. The soporific analgesics shunted into my system keep me unaware of the painful state of my body while the psionic circuity keep my mind perfectly clear and my powers enhanced.+ Lillian informs.

+To my perception, I have no body. I am simply a mind set free to bask in a sea of data, sensor input and cogitation, while my extra senses can plume the depths of the warp and see the emotions and truths in the soulfires of those around me. While not an existence I would have chosen while still embodied, I am in a state where I am more free to serve the Emperor, uncluttered by mortal concerns, than ever before.+ The Inquisitor confides.

GM can fill in the details of the mission if he likes or relay them to me to repeat. Also tried to make it so this introduction doesn't step on the toes of anyone elses introductions, sorry if I messed anything up for you guys.

Edit: Also, sorry if I messed up where we are and what we are doing GM if you had something else in mind, was mostly just improvising, if you had a more specific base of operations in mind for example we can move the story there.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

+Greetings friends+ Lillian's soft, feminine mind voice echos in the heads of the Cadre as her coffin deactivates its anti grav and settles heavily on the floor on two ski like runners that support its massive weight.

+I have gathered you all here not just because you are the best of the best, though you are, but because I feel you are trustworthy and can handle anything the universe throws at you. But before I begin, please help yourselves to refreshments, if you like.+

The richly appointed room has high backed leather chairs for the comfort of those who sit and several platters of expensive sweetmeats and pastries for those who are hungry as well as a crystal decanter filled with the finest amasec.

+It has taken a longtime to recover from my crippling at the hands of Toth, but I have not spent that time idly. I have learned much and gained much power and knowledge and it is time to take up the chase once more. I have been chasing that Heretic Sorcerer for decades, in one form or another, and it is time to end him. However, in reviewing the evidence again and again I have begun to suspect that perhaps even Toth is not the mastermind behind the many conspiracies I have uncovered, but rather just another link in the chain leading towards the real master. Such speculation can wait however, as first things are first.+

Lillian exloads the details of the current mission in data packets to the devices of Cadre. As well, a port opens in the front of her coffin, revealing a projecting crystal that throws a hololithic 3D image of the data into the center of the room.

+We have to start somewhere, and here is the most important situation for us to deal with currently+

Lillian engages her anti-grav unit and her coffin lifts a few inches off the ground and drifts slowing off the balcony into the meeting room behind her.

Her Cadre members have finally arrived, one by one, from the far corners of the Segmentum and await to hear her words on the details of why they have been summoned. Some have been here for months, others, just arriving, but they are all here now so now is the time.

Where once the Cadre knew the Inquisitor as a vivacious, young appearing woman now what presents to them is a jet black armored coffin, a smooth and thick device bent in two places as to take the shape of an enclosed reclining chair. All its life support systems and psi-circuitry are internal and protected and though the coffin bears no weapons it appears it would take a plasma torch to cut through the thick armor layers to reach anything vital.

The coffin is a mastercrafted device, a work of art both mechanically and artistically, its surface covered in silver and platinum designs of Imperial Iconography with an Imperial Aquila decorating its highest point where you suspected the Inquisitor's reclining head lies beneath.

It is truly a work of wonder.

Rakavet has done a damn fine job.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

A bit of a story hiccup for us to resolve, my history assumes Lillian has already been an Inquisitor for decades and the reason for her current low level of influence is she has been out of the game so long as opposed to just been having been promoted. If you want me to change that though I can work on it. More gameplay posts to come.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

The Fortress world of Cadia is a harsh place, both cold and brutal and also on fire with its citizen's powerful, burning faith in the God Emperor.

Trained to fire a gun and perform drills literally since the time they can walk the young men and women of Cadia form some of the most dedicated warrior corps the Imperium knows.

Everything one Cadia breeds war and faith, even their cities are layed out in deliberate labyrinth ways to form natural defense barriers and kill zones against an invading enemy. The mansion Lillian has co-opted as her current base of operations bears little resemblance to the decadent homes of most Imperial Nobility and is built more like a fortress of armored walls and gun turret blisters.

As her coffin rests on a high balcony over looking the lonely moors of Cadia Lillian considers the people of this world and how perfect a place it is to start a quest blessed by the God Emperor.

The skies are clear and the starts shone brightly, but it is not a peacful night. No night on Cadia is as the bright red and purple stain of the Eye of Terror hangs heavily over much of the eastern horizon, a suppurating sore in the pure firmament of the holy Imperium, an evil eye that bleeds madness and malice into the world of righteousness and reason that is the Emperor's domain.

Cadia is the gate on the one stable warp route from the festering warp wound and as such must stand strong against the endless legions of Chaos that sometimes pour forth, it is the perfect place to begin, Lillian believes, an iconic example of the strength needed to stand for the Imperium against the endless filth of Chaos.

The perfect place to begin a great hunt.

What's been presented so far for history sounds good, I have alot of ideas too but I almost want to wait till I see our characters in action to get a good idea of their personalities before purposing some things, to see if they fit well.

If having a complete history right this instant is necessary we can do that but I often enjoy an evolving history as we get the feel for the game and how our characters get along.

2d10 ⇒ (2, 8) = 10

2d5 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

transition package insanity: 1d5 ⇒ 4

extra insanity points: 1d10 ⇒ 7

Same goes for some equipment, alot depends on what can be integrated into the coffin's systems.

Alright, looks good so far, as even after this much time we haven't made too much progress on how the support coffin works I suggest we just start the game and leave a few details to be worked on, unless you are planning it to be rules intensive situations for the Inquisitor right off the bat.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

I'm thinking for the most part because my Inquisitor is basically a corpse in a coffin I'd primarily just be hanging back on our ship or in a safehouse and talking to you guys, if a PC guarded me they would mostly just be bored.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

I was personally thinking all PCs would be field agents when they want so they can get in on the action and I would just use an Influence roll to get myself a permanent Arbitrator or someone as a body guard.

They wouldn't be the greatest bodyguard ever, but it would be someone with a gun if/when our enemies come for me.

I was thinking for at least one set of equipment I could maybe have a homebrew group of psi sensitive crystal rings so that each party member could have one that would let me speak telepathically with over any distance using my power without having to risk rolling.

Basically it would just be a psionic communication link, but I am willing to use any one of my equipment slots to get the rings.

I see you updated alias with xp tree. I just realized I need to send you the rest of the profile, so I'll get that PM to you shortly that has stats and details etc.

Still need to work out details of her, is she in a coffin like your background says or is she able to meet and greet people...We talking Hawking or Xavier? Or you mean Fallout style?

I threw out ideas in the first PM so still waiting for you to decide, maybe after I get you the final sheet you can decide.

Sorry not trying to drag my feet, just busy today. The support coffin I think should be completely enclosed. I'm thinking it will look like a black coffin bent into a reclining chair position, if that makes sense, armored and covered in Imperial iconography. The chair should have sensors so I can perceive the world and a vox system so I can speak, but won't have weapons.

Looks like people have good ideas for connections between characters, I'll drop some too a bit later.

Female Noble Born Human Imperial Psyker

It's all good, thanks for working with me on my character=)

I was thinking Ordo Hereticus would be the best choice for the Inquisitor but I'm not dead set on anything specific.

Gotta go outta town for the next three days, I know I'm already behind in making my character but hopefully when I get back I can knock it out quick=)

Edit: Or alternatively since she's going to have to use some house rules to represent being crippled and how she operates that will rely on some GM fiat you could stat her out in your free time BayouSnowman(if you've gotten any free time at all at this point=D) I'd be cool however you make her, you were always better at making characters than I was anyway=)

Still need to work some stuff out with the GM game mechanics wise but I'll pop her story here for making connections.=)

History and Background:

Born on Holy Terra itself into the Naraku family, one of the thirteen lesser Houses of the Gyptian bloc, Lillian was taken by the Sisters of Silence at the tender age of eight because of active Telepathic manifestations.

All she remembers before those times of pain and horror aboard the Black Ships is the hyper competitive environment of a Terran noble house, half fierce faith in the God-Emperor, half byzantine politics and power jockeying that make up the daily realities of the nobility on the Throneworld.

Though too young to comprehend much of what took place around her these early experiences were an accurate precursor for the life she would one day live in service to the Emperor in the Most Holy Ordos of the Inquisition.

At the age of fifteen, fully schooled and educated, she was attached to the sprawling staff of Inquisitor Sethiro Weyland in the distant Morpheus Sector.

Though far from the brightest or most talented of his many Acolytes Lillian possessed two traits that would eventually come to the attention of her distant Inquisitorial master.

The first was her ability and desire to pay attention to the most mundane details of the Inquisitor's work. The vast majority of the Inquisition's work is not fierce running battles on alien worlds but the steady and endless research, groundwork, and investigations that lead to the discovery of Heresy and, once discovered, the careful peeling back and persecution of the Heresy.

On Samater's World Lillian discovered the hidden bribery-accounts of the Birben-Surgeon and his Heretical Cult, a detail that even the Inquisitor's Senior Sages missed. The resulting persecution was brutal and during the purge Lillian was captured and tortured by vengeful Surgeons.

Rescued after three days and nights of torment the Inquisitor was shocked to discover she had stayed true to the Emperor and resisted spilling details of the Inquisition's operation by biting her own tongue off.

Thus was her second strength revealed; the intense desire to never give up or give in, even in the worst circumstances.

Twenty years later, after rising to the rank of Inquisitor herself at the feet of Weyland, she was transferred to the Calixis Sector to assist one of Weyland's allies in an investigation.

Over the course of thirty years Lillian became a respected presence in the Sector, with seven deadly conspiracies broken open at her hand. It was the eighth conspiracy however, that would almost spell her doom.

Believing that several of the more clever and dangerous Heretics she had persecuted all had some sort of tie to each other Lillian embarked on an investigation that would take almost sixty years to complete as she unraveled a massive web of conspiracy, wealth, power, and Heresy.

Most of her fellow Inquisitors thought she was just chasing ghosts, that the crimes and cults she persecuted where just unrelated bubbles of corruption, but Lillian knew better and after endless decades of chasing cornered the spider at the center of the web.

The spider turned out to be Delsuvian Toth, a Thousands Son's Sorcerer of immense power and linage, being a master of all Psychic Disciplines and a plotter without peer who once learned at the feet of Magnus the Red in the unknowably distant past.

Far from catching the spider though, she learned she had simply fallen into his trap, having earned the dubious distinction of finally irritating him enough with her investigations to earn her death.

On the hollowed out asteroid station of Menicil Ecilpses the Sorcerer and his minions ambushed the Inquisitor's Cadre and murdered them almost to the last man.

Only two of Lillian's Cadre escaped, dragging the burnt and broken body of their Inquisitor with them.

Though a follow up investigation was made the Inquisition could find no trace of the Sorcerer and couldn't even determine what, if anything, was the overall goal of the disparate conspiracies Lillian uncovered.

Though she had no knowledge of what the Sorcerer's overall goal was herself Lillian spent the long years of her convalescence pulling details together and examining them, convinced she was right.

Though she was unable to heal, now being little more than a burnt corpse in an armored life support coffin, Lillian has reentered the game, smashing open hidden threats and rebuilding her Cadre as she searches for the Sorcerer and seeks to stop whatever massive threat he surely represents to the Imperium.

Profile will slowing grow as I level up and add the story. Trying to break things in the profile into easily understood and referenced bits, I know you said at one point you'd add a Character Sheet template so we'd all be the same, might have missed where that is, I'll change mine around to fit that when I know what it is.
