Ok here we go: 1. Shamira is a demon herself, so during the Nocticula's Attention scenario do we have to roll a D6 when we defeat her and fight her again? Seem thematically weird... 2. When you face Nocticula and she doesn't escape and you have multiple characters at your location, all of them may summon and encounter her, do all of them have to roll for shamira? 3. Abyssal Shortcut says you can place it at any location, does that include a closed location? If so that makes it fairly easy as long as you have a closed location 4. Can Marshall Alain use the pluses that his mythic charges for charisma checks give him for a Diplomacy check? So in scenario 4 he could get +4 to diplomacy? 5. I remember reading somewhere that after you beat the villain and win a scenario you still have to draw up...is that true? If so our Imrijka would have died as we beat the villain on our last turn of the blessings deck during an epic rush to find the villain. Imrijka found Nocticula, Shardra was at the only other open location to temp close it and Alain, Balazar and Crow were at the same location with Imrijka. We had no blessings of Nocticula secured. We all fight Nocticula the first time around and secure the 4 blessings, leaving us one short as shardra was in the other location. We shuffle the location deck which had about 6 cards left in it and Imrijka burns through her blessings and powers to try and find NOcticula. Imrijka barely finds the villain with nothing left to explore again, but Balazar, Crowe and Alain all have good charisma and opt to face her as well. Imrijka fails and gets blow to smithereens but the others succeed and we win the scenario! I think technically Imrijka is dead if she had to draw up, but meh, it's our game and we'll end it as soon as the win condition is met!
Yesterday we ran into the one temptation barrier that allows you to grab spells. Forget the specific wording but you get three then select 1, and then it reads something like Pick up the spell, then banish a card with the magic trait from your hand or discard pile. If you don't have a card with the magic trait on hand or discard, can you still pick up the spell? I thought you could because its not a requirement to pick up a spell, but a penalty that you have to pay if you do choose to pick it up.
My balazar just graduated summoning school by finishing adventure 3 and hes ready to specialize. If he becomes an Eidolomancer, does he have to add the powers in the order listed. For example for his first powers once he gets the role card could he immediately check off the discard a monster to reroll your dice?
I've been playing since RotR but I'm actually kind of unsure about this: Let's say Balazar takes the Diplomacy check from one of the Demonic Army Barriers (Demonic Platoon to be precise) Balazar doesn't actually have diplomacy, he has charisma, so he's rolling a D4. But does a) Any skillpoints put into charisma count towards the diplomacy check?
I think it's yes to all of the above but I have like 3% fear that Im wrong.
And I think this will be much easier to answer than my previous question about discarding spells for monsters during an encounter. Lets say Balazar is teaming up with Andowyn in a location, and during Andowyn's turn she encounters a bane with two checks to defeat. Andowyn takes 1, and then Balazar takes another. Is a bane considered defeated only by the person whose encounter it is, or could Balazar capture that bane into his hand? I don't think he can but wanted to make sure.
So forget all this Balazar confusion and heated discussion about Imrijka and Andowyn. What's up with Shardra? Compared to most of the other WotR cast she seems quite a bit underpowered, even as it's understood that she is a support character through and through. We are a group of 6 and this is early days still, but she doesn't have a reliable way to get spells back in her hand and she doesn't have weapon proficiencies, and may never even get it depending on her role. How are people running her? Not exploring with her is not really feasible in a group of 6, but she almost always needs blessing supports for combat and barriers. The reroll power is ok I guess, but it does keep her from having spells in hand (unlike Jirelle who could just do it if the check was swashbuckling) and we havent had a lot of opportunities to scout using her knowledge powers. Any tips?
Alahazra as far as I can tell can recharge any number of cards to examine any number of locations when she wants correct? Can't she also discard any number of divine trait cards from hand at the end of her turn to gain that same amount of cards from her discard back? So can Balazar discard any number of monsters (assuming he has them) to add multiple D4s to fight barriers or obtain items?
I am still unclear on a couple things: 1. Can you play resist energy within an encounter? Or do you have to play it outside an encounter?
Thanks!
So just to make sure: Alhazara encounters a barrier that is intelligence, knowledge, or constitution 11 to defeat, none of which she is particularly great at. No problem shes got her gem of charisma! She chooses to roll knowledge as she as put +2 into it. So now its a D12 +2 right? And her pal Lirianne throws in a blessing of abadar, so now its 3D12 +2 and that barrier is pretty much toast. Did we play that right? BONUS QUESTION. Oloch displays cards to help with his own combat check, fails, take damage. The displayed cards dont count against damage and can be picked up at end of turn again. right?
For the first time ever we experienced scenario loss thanks to Toll of the Bell. Got it on the second time though. A couple of questions arose: 1. If you use Call Weapon for the bury function to get a weapon for another character do you still have a chance to recharge it? 2. Similarly, if you use Aqeous Orb for its extra power, do you still have a chance to recharge it? 3. 99% sure the answer to this is yes but just to be clear, when you use Mogmurch's 2D6 to a check power, (crazy that its ANY check) you would roll for damage if ANY d6s used on the check roll 1s right, not just the 2 dice that Mog gets you. Thanks!
So by now our group is very familiar with the rule that tells you summoned cards cant summon other cards but how about this situation? Damiel is at the location which makes increases the difficulty of barrier checks by 3. I forget the name of the location but it is especially horrible- and the closing requirement for the location is to summon and defeat a barrier. Damiel beats the henchman and attempts to close the location - out comes the random summoned barrier and its pirate hunting. Does that barrier still summon the random ship? We played that it did because you need to defeat the barrier. Hilariously enough the ship that showed up was Goblin Weildling - which summons a Grindylow. Now I think the Grindylow wouldn't actually be summoned due to the summoning rules (although we did play it that way for the extra challenge) but what about the summoned Pirate Hunting and its ship
Let's say ranzak is exploring and he runs into a Ghost - Combat 13 or Wisdom 8 to defeat but it must have the magic trait or it is considered undefeated. Poor Ranzak has no magic weapons in hand, but he is nothing if not resourceful- in his hand he has a Gem of Constitution and Besmaras Tricorn, but here is what we are wondering: a) If he uses the gem to replace his regular D4 wisdom with his D12 constitution does the Gem (which has a magic trait) add its magic to the check? b) If he uses Besmaras Tricorn to add a D8 to his wisdom check, does the Tricorn (which has a magic trait) add its magic to the check? Our group has played RotR and now S&S and to our shame, we're still unclear on when those traits are added to checks besides when you use magic weapons.
So I've now been wondering how the new exploration rules interact with Ranzak's power. Let's say I am ranzak and I have a cure in hand. I do my first exploration and encounter a boon. 1. Roll to acquire boon
Basically does Ranzak have an opening during his orgy of boon acquisitions and explores to ever cure or perform any other action?
Want to make sure we are playing this spell right: Cast charm animal: 1. Grab random animal ally from box.
Finally got the team together with the add on deck and we started off right with a victory on a surprisingly tough Island Hopping. Loved the increased difficulty! A few questions after our first playthrough that I hope we can clarify: 1. I'm Ranzak (who is AMAZING!) and I encounter a large chest. I successfully defeat it and roll a 4 for weapons. Those are 4 separate boons Ranzak just obtained. Does Ranzak roll to explore again once, four times or zero times? 2. The scenario card for island hopping lists enemy ships and below them hammerhead sharks as henchman. However there is no way to actually add any hammerheads to locations as far as we can tell because there are far too many enemy ships. We figured its because shark island is there so you want to keep those sharks handy, but it was disconcerting because we are used to always having to include any kind of henchmen if they are listed on the scenario card. 3. Did we play this right? We find the villain on cannibal isle and there are two other locations open, including Shark Island. As we attempt to temporary close shark island, we defeat the hammerheads and then, as per the scenario rule for island hopping we randomly roll to see where the sharks would end up on the bottom of any remaining open locations INCLUDING the villains location which at this point is open as we havent defeated him yet. 4. So when you face an enemy ship can Ranzak can evade it because its a henchmen bane when you first face it, then it becomes an actual ship? Then you take every ship that's in the box (even including Goblin Weidlin), randomly pull one out and the character has to beat one of the checks to defeat it. If we do defeat it, enemy ships gives you the option to seize it (dont forget to add plunder!) so you can cruise around the scenario in a nice new ship that might be class 6 or something. Then when you meet the next enemy ship henchman you can do it all over again and get a new ship. At the end though, your shiny new toy has to be brought back to the box and you are back to your merchantman for the next adventure. Hope I got that all right. Thanks a lot! Cant wait to get going on more scenarios!
What is the purpose of Ranzak's wrecker role power where after you defeat a monster from a location deck, you may examine the top card of that deck; if it’s a boon, banish it? Why would you want to banish boons? Is this just to be thematic of the wrecker role in which you close locations like crazy, no matter what the cost? Seems like a fairly useless power.
Im very confused about Merisiel's evade when used against Ogrekin. When you encounter ogrekin you have to roll a D4 and one of the results says you cannot evade Ogrekin. However I always thought evade means you are not really encountering the bane and even before the encounter events don't apply. Have I been playing that wrong? So if Merisiel turns over the enchantress and evades, does she still take the one damage?
Let's say Merisiel is facing a villain with two checks. Seoni plays Incendiary cloud, then plays blessing of Zarongel. Am I right in thinking that would mean Merisiel would have 4 D4's with the fire trait for the first check then the blessing's power expire for the second check and Merisiel is down to 2 D4's. If Merisiel was also using a heavy crossbow, her base attack is not considered to have the fire trait, only the D4s from the incendiary cloud right? So Bl of Zar would not give her 2 extra D12's for the Crossbow as those dice dont have the fire trait. Only the 2 D4s from Incendiary. |
