*Sigh* sad to hear DM Twawets, but we understand.

Thanks for running the game for us, If you ever decided to run something else shoot me a message in discord.

Folks, it's been fun playing with you, good luck and good gaming.

I'm not trying to be a curmudgeon, but you selected the Champion mythic path, which primarily does damage.

Edit: And you're aware of how hard it is to fill a spot in a long term game with someone who will post as regularly as you do. The GM did invite the two of us because he knew we would keep the game moving forwards.

I would rather not leave, but if retraining is not possible, then the party will be better off with Leothar replaced by a new PC, one informed by the AP experience to date and better designed to solve problems and cover our weaknesses. Leothar's inability to do anything other than damage were, in my view, a major factor in this dungeon being such an excruciating slog.

What do you have in mind?

Smiling as he realizes the dwarves had destroyed the statues, Ian gestures towards the doors, "Shall we?"
-------------------------
Having finished searching the rest of the Citadel, Ian nods approvingly, "Shall we bring the army in and have them begin setting up a proper defense?"

Realizing his 'intimidation had no effect, Ian, wanting to inspire his friends, keeps 'the ladies gift' lifted high, performing an impressive display of prowess.

Full round action: inspiring sword
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Iomedae's Inspiring Sword Optional Replacement: 1/2 rds. While wielding a longsword, you can perform an impressive display of prowess as a full-round action. All allies within 30 feet who can see your display gain a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 round + 1 round per 5 points of base attack bonus you have.

Has everyone moved their tokens into the room and my map is just not updating? It's so small, but there appear to be two still in the hallway.

I posted Ian moved into the room, but it felt like his movement was interrupted by Initiative. His two actions were full round actions, so Ian's location would depend on how far he got before initiative...

Trawets, what sort of knowledge check for these things?

Keeping 'the ladies gift' held high, Ian perform a bewildering show of prowess using his skill with the blade to attempt to intimidate the three statues.

Full round action: dazzling display
Intimidate: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25 if they are evil please add 2
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Iomedae's Inspiring Sword Optional Replacement: 2/2 rds. While wielding a longsword, you can perform an impressive display of prowess as a full-round action. All allies within 30 feet who can see your display gain a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 round + 1 round per 5 points of base attack bonus you have.

Usure what they are up against, Ian lifts 'the ladies gift', performing an impressive display of prowess as he encourages friends "Fear not!"

Not sure what else to do, Ian follows Dadna into the chapel. Seeing the runes desecrating the statues, he nods slowly in agreement with his friend. He would help clean the temple, just as the dwarves had helped clean the desecrated ones belonging to Iomedae. As Dadna looks around the room, Ian moves to the far side and attempts to open the southernmost door.

I was waiting to see if anyone was going to cast spells.

Nodding in agreement with Leothar's instructions, "Irabeth can see that the screening takes place. Let's head back through the breach in the wall then head east through the fortress."

Assuming the others would follow, Ian, sword and shield in hand, heads towards the breach in the wall where they first entered the fortress.

Having rested and most of the effects of the previous days battle gone, Ian nods in agreement with Dadna. "Dadna is right, we should head back. Should we enter at the wall breach so we are closer to where we left, or check on the planetar first?"

So, we heal up one of Ian's permanent levels so he and Enos are - 1 each and go back in after the enervation wears off?

I'm a little lost, what are we waiting on?

Blushing slightly as Dadna explains Irabeth was asking about the 'hunt' for the banner, not the hunt for evil doers, Ian nods, "Of course you are right."

Listening more careful as Sosiel explains what spells he can cast, Ian nods, "I will need restoration cast twice."

He looks towards the others, hoping someone has a better record of their wealth than he, "I will begin the search for diamond dust."

I need to double check if Ians - 2 levels or the - 5 levels are the permanent ones.

is Iean the only one that needs the restoration spell?

Smiling weekly at their friend, Ian responds, "Sometimes it was hard to tell whether we were the hunters or the hunted." He frowns a little, "We were attacked by a Nabasu demon using it's gaze attack. The Chief says it's permanent unless healed by magic, so I guess I should see one of the clerics."

Nodding in agreement with the others, Ian turns and nods politely to the celestial creature, and begins to head back to camp.

Relieves to see that the planatar was able to help Dadna, Ian asks, " Do we want to rest here or head back to camp?"

Understanding the situation, Ian nods, and points towards Dadna, "Heal her first."

DM Trawets wrote:
"... I am not omniscient. I don't know anything happening outside these walls."

I'm not sure I or Ian know what happened either.

Having found his way back to where they'd left the banner, Ian wearily nods at the planatar, "Your correct the wounds are more than physical, I feel like my life essence has been drained. Can you help?"

Is the darkness still a factor?

Shaking off the sensation of being paralyzed Ian breaths a prayer of thanks to Iomedae. Gesturing towards the room the demons came out of, Ian begins to walk that direction. "Even though these two were trying to escape, we should not assume they did not leave any evil behind."

Keeping his sword and shield at the ready Ian heads into the abandoned room. F11a

DM Trawets wrote:
Enos shakes off the effect and moves forward. Dadna, Ian and Ardriel stiffen up but it fails to take hold on Ardriel. Ardriel then puts an arrow into the demon and it falls to the ground.

Sorry, I don't know why I'm having such trouble following this. So, are we out of combat?

The 'stiffening up' are we paralyzed? can we talk? Does the effect go away with the death of our opponent?

DM Trawets wrote:
Ian and Dadna begin to stiffen up more. Both failed the save.

What is the mechanical effect?

Will: 1d20 + 14 + 2 - 7 ⇒ (10) + 14 + 2 - 7 = 19 This would be easier if we knew the DC

Hearing the sound of combat ahead, Ian shuffles along as quickly as he is able in the dark.

double move, 20 ft

Not to take away from the above conversation, but can Ian see well enough to follow Leothar at full speed?

Hearing Leothar call out, Ian moves forwards towards his friend, calling on the armor of the pious and then his Holy shield.

Move 15 ft Swift: armor of the pious, Standard: holy shield
Armor of the Pious: AC 28 1/10 rds. swift action to increase the armor’s enhancement bonus to +2 for 10 rounds. For this duration, the armor also grants a +2 sacred bonus on saving throws. A paladin wearing armor of the pious can use her lay on hands ability one additional time per day; a mythic paladin wearing armor of the pious also gains one additional use of mythic power per day.
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Holy Shield: + 3 1/8 rds All allies adjacent to the paladin gain a shield bonus equal to the sacred shield’s own shield bonus, including any increase from the shield’s enhancement bonus. This bonus does not stack with any existing shield bonuses. The paladin herself radiates light as a light spell while the shielding is active.

So, are we fighting or retreating?

We are still on round 13 so Enos is still in the room. Waiting on Adriel. I don't think Ian and Dadna are doing anything.
Hey! Ian is holding the flashlight for two dwarves, this is a very important job seeing they are not used to needing someone to do so...
Excuse me. I meant doing anything that required move or standard actions.

Oh, ok, we're cool then

:)

Realizing they were planning on spiking the door, Ian held his shield steady so they could easily see what they were doing.

I guess this is the same as delaying?

DM Trawets wrote:
I thought you went around the corner with the others Ian. If you stayed out where you are on the map your daylight runs north south in the corridor and into the hall to the east. You get a little spread at the north and south ends but not enough to see the other door. Remember daylight doesn't light up deeper darkness. They only cancel each other out.

I didn't really think about it, I thought we were retreating so I moved him back 20 ft, the second move action after shutting the door.

So we're still in rounds right? Ian went this round, shutting the door and moving back 20 ft. How far does his light now extend into the room, if and when the door is opened? It sounded like Dadna moved back too. I don't think locations on the map are right.

good thing it's not the same for cast-iron cookware then :)

anyone got a sling?

Realizing that he cannot hear his own voice, Ian motions for Dadna to leave the room.

Once she does so, he will shut the door and retreat with the others.

Shifting so he can shut the door, Ian asks, "Are we staying or going?"

just some fluff, if were staying Ian will use an archetype talent, if going he will shut the door

Did I miss our round counter? Are we in a new round?

DM Trawets wrote:
You have no idea if either path is blocked as you can't see what is ahead of you and can't hear what is going on with Dadna.

So Ians light doesn't illuminate enough to see into the doorway of the other door?

DM Trawets wrote:
Ian calls out to his celestial heritage and hears nothing when he speaks but wills his shield to shed light. At lease he thinks he does. He can't see anything still but is immediately hit by some that drains the life out of him 5 negative levels.

Are those 5 levels permanent?

Almost feeling the darkness as much as seeing it, Ian breaths a sigh. Calling on his heritage's ability to call daylight, he breaths, " Let there be light." as he touches his shield and casts the spell.

Aasimars can use daylight so standard action, cast light, if he can see to move forwards, he will

Nodding to Leothar, Ian, wanting to add a layer of protection to his friends calls on his mythic ability 'Rally' as he opens the door, drawing his sword, he steps into the room. Or out of the way if blocked by undead.

Swift, rally, move action: opens the door, move action (if possible) he walks in the room and draws his sword. IF not he will step out of the way and draw his sword.
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Rally: This gives you and each of your allies within 30 feet the option to reroll any one d20 roll after the roll is made. The granted reroll must be used before the beginning of your next turn, and the creature must take the result of the reroll, even if it is lower.

No spells, no problem :)

Leothar wrote:
Edit: if Ian uses Rally, we all have a much better chance of not taking any more permanent negative levels from the gaze. I would even risk being in front of the doors when they open.

Consider it done, his next post he will Rally

DM Trawets wrote:
Surge is fine Ian. I figured you would when I said it failed.

Actually it was after Leothar reminded me I could and should :)

Seeing both doors unlocked, Ian asks, "Shall we open both doors at the same time?" He moves up towards the eastern door and gestures towards the western door, "Enos would you do the honors?" Reaching for the latch, he adds, "On three, one...two...three"

Leothar wrote:
They are against its gaze attack for permanent negative levels. So don't forget the Inspiring Sword bonus, and I would suggest you use Surge on this.

Trawets, you care if he adds surge?

surge: 1d6 ⇒ 6
surge: 1d6 ⇒ 3

DM Trawets wrote:
Everyone make a fort save again.

I keep rolling fort saves, not sure for what or if I'm making them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fort: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Do we know if his 'dazzling display' had any effect?

Seeing several of the undead fall, Ian is surprised when the demon appears at the door. Hearing the door 'lock' he Lowers his blade he turns and looks towards Enos.

Fort save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Feeling the enemy's power wash over him Ian struggles ot keep the 'Ladies gift' elevated. Knowing he could effect the outcome, he straightens up. "You will all fall!"

Standard action dazzling display, - 2 lvl
Intimidate: 1d20 + 22 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 22 - 2 = 35
For all of you:
Iomedae's Inspiring Sword Optional Replacement: 2/2 rds. While wielding a longsword, you can perform an impressive display of prowess as a full-round action. All allies within 30 feet who can see your display gain a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 round + 1 round per 5 points of base attack bonus you have.
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.

Edit:
Next round he will use warrior of the holy light All allies in 30-foot radius receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear, also curing of them of 1d4 points of ability damage, as per the spell lesser restoration.

Just a heads up. I'm headed out of town this afternoon. My laptop is broken enough I can't take it with me, so I won't be back online/in games until sometime Sunday afternoon
