Cool! Are you going to have it published?

That's the plan! Once the holidays are over, I'm going to start querying agents

Thanks for running, GM C! I enjoyed it despite having some learning curve issues with 2E--I'm still feeling my way around the system. And thanks to all of you for some fine roleplaying--especially Hrothdane.

Incidentally, Hrothdane, what are you doing your thesis on?

Thank you! I enjoyed it, too!

I'm graduating with an MFA in creative writing, so my thesis is actually a novel! It's about the transgender daughter of Odysseus telling her story after 3200 years.

Underworld Lore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Thank you for running! I enjoyed myself. Sorry for being so crazy busy with my thesis the last couple weeks.

Merisiel is quite enamored with this “Open Road Pact,” as she has heard of tontines before, but only in stories, the kind that eventually progress into action-filled sequences and narrow escapes. She triumphantly holds the folio up.

”We found this cool thing! Very salacious and old. Sal-old-scious. S-old-lacious? Something like that. Pretty neat.”

Thanks for moving me! That's actually exactly where I wanted to move. Also, I'll remember that about acrobatics

Merisiel pushes through the pain and runs up to lend her assistance to finishing off the damn ooze. She takes up a spot next to Kyra.

Primary Attack with +1 Striking Rapier (bless): 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 = 29
Primary Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10
Secondary Attack with +1 Striking Dagger (bless): 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 1 = 27
Secondary Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 4) + 4 = 10

Athletics to attempt to escape grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Athletics to attempt to escape grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

"I'd really, really like to, Beardy, but it's not going to so great."

With the device turned off finally, Merisiel runs up to help out Amiri. Well if swords will help, swords it is!”

She quick draws each of her weapons as she attacks.

Primary Attack with +1 striking rapier vs Green: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Primary Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10
Iterative Attack with +1 striking dagger vs Green: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 14 - 4 = 29
Iterative Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11

Merisiel jumps to work on the device. "I got this! It's all good."

Thievery to Disable Device: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Looks like it's two actions to disable device, so only one attempt this round

"It WILL be all good!"

”On my way, Beardy!” Merisiel dashes back towards the device in the middle of the room, giving Kyra a quick kiss on the cheek as she passes. She then stows her weapons and prepares her tools to go to work.

Action to move, then probably two more to stow her weapons

Merisiel dashes right up to the southern foe, having exactly as much speed as she needs to attack twice.

"Hey, hey, buddy. You gonna get stabbed." And then she stabs.

+1 Striking Rapier: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Rapier Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5) + 4 = 12

She then quick draws her dagger. "Twice!" And then she stabs again.

+1 Striking Dagger (second attack): 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 14 - 4 = 21
Dagger Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10

Merisiel bounds south, circling around the walkway at the edge of the chamber to flank the villains and allow Valeros to take center stage with his nice, hardy shield.

Double move, draw rapier

Sorry, thesis deadline + holiday prep and i totally forgot in the madness

lesser elixir of life: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 6 = 11
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 = 30

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Also gonna use a hero point!
Fortitude Save Reroll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

”Already on it, my dear!” Merisiel cracks her knuckles and pulls out her thieves’ tools.

Merisiel will use Ageless Patience to take twice as long disabling each nozzle for +2 bonus on each.

Thievery (ageless patience): 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 13 + 2 = 26
Thievery (ageless patience): 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 = 24
Thievery (ageless patience): 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 = 24
Thievery (ageless patience): 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 13 + 2 = 32
Thievery (ageless patience): 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 2 = 28

Merisiel knows what her job is when it comes time to explore, and she takes to it with practiced efficiency.

She will Search to keep an eye out for traps, hazards, secrets doors and the like

Sorry! My bad about missing that the rolls are secret. I’ve been knocked on my ass sick the past few days and my head’s all foggy.

Merisiel will begin figuring out the best way to acquire an audience with Igrigi.

Society: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Merisiel opens her mouth and consumes the bite, approvingly nodding to herself as she chews. She then raises a pinky and puts on a mock-Taldan accent. "Ah, yes. Quite good. I rather enjoyed that."

"Oh, and I'm with the others. No idea what we did to upset those doohickeys. I know I unlocked something, but I don't think that's what did it. Maybe they didn't like my little song?" She shrugs and smiles, knowing that is clearly not what did it.

Nice! Back to full exactly

Merisiel leaps back into action, using her acrobatic skills to balance on the slippery stone to access more areas in the search.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29

Merisiel dramatically places her hand against her forehead and makes a show of letting herself fall back into Kyra’s arms. ”Oh my goodness, I am in dreadful need of healing, won’t any kind woman with impeccable fashion sense and healing hands see to my wounds?”

I'm having difficulty finding what exactly I'm able to do while grappled, so I guess she'll try to break out. If that first roll isn't enough, then just assume she keeps trying until it works, attacking with the rest of her actions

Athletics to Break Free: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Attack with +1 striking rapier: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12

Secondary Attack with +1 striking dagger: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 14 - 4 = 15
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12

Merisiel throws up a jaunty salute to Ezren and Valeros. ”Thanks, boys!”

She then rushes over to her “geef,” just barely able to get there in time for two quick strikes. ”Leave my girl alone, jerks!”

Primary Attack with +1 striking rapier vs Red: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10
Secondary Attack with +1 striking dagger vs Red: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 14 - 4 = 16
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

I’m gonna see if Valeros and Ezren finish off this statue before I take my turn

Merisiel moves into a flank with Valeros, striking at the statue twice.

She has quick draw, so she can draw her off-hand weapon as part of the Strike action

Strike with +1 striking rapier: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Rapier Damage (sneak attack): 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 + (3, 6) = 20

Strike with +1 striking dagger (second attack, agile): 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 14 - 4 = 12
Dagger Damage (sneak attack): 2d4 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 + (5, 1) = 15

Merisiel would have used her Scout’s Warning ability to give everyone else a +1 on initiative, so I think that would mean Amiri would get to go now, too

Merisiel calls out a warning to her allies as she dashes closer to the fray, drawing her rapier. Two moves and an action to draw her rapier

Merisiel blows Kyra a kiss before heading immediately to the locked magical case. She smiles to herself as she begins singing, enjoying that she gets to do such a task without fear of being discovered. ”Just picking locks, just picking locks. I’m just a thief picking locks.”

Thievery: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Merisiel spins around as she notices Kyra behind her. ”My GF!” She says it as one word, like “geef.” ”There you are! You’ve gotten better at hiding. My influence, I think.” She follows up with a peck on Kyra’s cheek. Her “GF” found, she finally turns her attention back to the rest of the room. ”Hi to you, too, Val! Mullet’s looking good today.”

Merisiel waits for her turn at introductions, then crosses her arms and leans against a pillar, brandishing a cockeyed smile. ”’sup.”

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Merisiel shows up twirling her rapier. "How delightful. Never been to Nex before!" She glances around the room. "Where's my GF? She get sent on ANOTHER mission somewhere else? That girl is so popular for how moody she is." Merisiel makes a show of looking around the room in places someone couldn't reasonably fit, gently pushing people aside with the flat of her rapier. "KYRA? Darling? Where did our Pathfinder buddies take you off to now?"

Amiri is already chopping off the daemon's head as Balazar begins asking.

She throws her sword into a wall, the smack of the massive metal weight against the stone reverberating throughout the hall.

She then leans against a pillar, using it to help slide her down into a seated position.

"'Magnificent killer?' You're damn right."

She holds up a fist, placing her other hand on the bicep.

"Don't know what you guys woulda done without me. I guess...you didn't do so bad yourselves."

That small allowance seems to be the best anyone can expect from the macho barbarian.

Great job everyone!

Amiri's eyes are bulging as her fury continues to build. She vows to herself that she be the one to slay this creature, no one else.

"THE HAMMER IS COMING DOWN, A~#*#+#."

Attack with Large Bastard Sword (Flank, rage, accurate stance, power attack): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 14
Really -_-
Screw it! Using my folio reroll w/GM Stars. Amiri must have her vengeance upon the beast!
GM Star Reroll: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 + 2 = 29
Damage (rage, power attack): 2d8 + 7 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 + 2 + 6 = 26

Praise Gorum! He was exactly one charge away.

Amiri roars as she throws herself across the battlefield straight towards the daemon, her sword held high.

Attack with Oversized Bastard Sword (charge, flank, rage, accurate stance, power attack): 1d20 + 9 + 22 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 22 + 2 - 2 = 33
Damage (rage, power attack): 2d8 + 7 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 + 2 + 6 = 26

G*%%*!n it :(

I'm running a module today, so I wont be home and available to post until late.

Thankfully, she has some healing potions!

Amiri, covered in heavy burns and her own blood, stares at the daemon as she draws a potion. She spits out a tooth, never taking her eyes off her enemy, and takes a drink.

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 5 = 16

8 rounds left of rage, I believe

Amiri glares at the gnome as he fails to bring down the daemon. She shifts her sword to one hand, draws her last throwing axe, and chucks it up at the daemon.

Throwing Axe (rage, accurate stance): 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 17
Damage (rage): 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9

Amiri, her blade finally having tasted daemon blood, runs after the combat, each footstep falling in a hard stomp.

"Ah, had too much, HUH?!"

Double move

I just noticed the picture had no wings and you didnt mention any >_>

Hey Balazar, I just saw you have a dispel magic wand. You could totally dispel the daemon's fly spell!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Balazar I would recommend having Padrig follow as he bullrushes the daemon so he blocks some of the squares above and threatens still.

Bloodied and burned, Amiri takes her sword back into two hands, evening out her stance to give her more control of her swing.

"TAKE THIS, YOU BASTARD!"

She brings the sword up from the ground in a massive arc, swinging at the daemon above her.

Attack with Oversized Bastard Sword (rage, accurate stance, power attack): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 28
Damage (rage, power attack): 2d8 + 7 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (8, 1) + 7 + 2 + 6 = 24

Move action to activate Accurate Stance, Standard Action to attack

"RRRRRRRRAAH! Get back down here!"

Amiri shifts her sword to one hand (so she doesn't threaten with it atm) and draws a throwing axe, hurling it at the daemon.

Ranged Attack with Throwing Axe (rage): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
Damage (rage): 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

Amiri thrusts her bastard sword forward, pointing toward the beast.

"FINALLY! A fight!"

She channels all of her frustration into a battle rage, power coursing through her muscles.

"Now...GET THE HELL DOWN HERE."

She rushes forward, sparks flying as her sword drags across the stones.

Ten feet up means that I can't reach it from the ground, right? If so, then Amiri will instead use the standard action to ready to attack him as soon as he comes in range

Attack with Large Bastard Sword (rage, power attack): 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 - 2 = 12
Damage (rage, power attack): 2d8 + 7 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 7 + 2 + 6 = 22

Though I doubt that will hit anyways -_-

Free action to rage, move action to move 30 feet, standard action to attack/ready to attack

I'm fine with whatever the others want to do. Seeing everything would just mean even more increasingly frustrated Amiri :D

"Yeah, yeah, fine. While you're doing that, I'm gonna keep checking for something I care about."

Amiri goes down to the other door in the room and opens it. She smacks a fist in the doorframe as she realizes it just leads back to one of the hallways they came from.

Knowledge (religion) (untrained): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Amiri grinds her teeth as shes the infuriatingly peaceful surroundings.

"UGH. This is some kinda prayer room or something. Might as well call it the 'Boring *&%$ Room.'"

She almost continues, but the appearance of the watery fanged crown stops her.

"Yo! Magic man--gnome, whatever. Some weird magic s+!@ going on here. Or maybe Mr. Peacey-prayer Guy knows."

Amiri tosses the holy symbol to Merisiel.

"You take it then. This room is boring. I'm gonna look for a better one."

Amiri walks up to the closest door and opens it or attempts to, if it's locked.

Amiri moves towards the red pool, propping herself on her sword as she leans in for a closer look.

Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Knowledge (religion) (untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 13

"These poor saps got all their blood sucked out."

Amiri reaches to grab one of the holy symbols.

"These might fit that dumb lock thing or whatever."

She wiggles the holy symbol at Merisiel.

"Maybe?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You can go ahead and reveal whichever door Amiri opened, GM.

She will open whichever one the distressed animal noises appear to be coming from once the rest of the party has moved up with her

Ah, okay. My bad

Amiri pulls on the door a few times, her anger rising with each pull before she finally throws her hands in the air.

"Gah! Do your little needle lock-picky thing or whatever. I'm going to see about those animals."

Amiri storms off towards the northern door.

If someone could move her up there on the map, I would appreciate it. On my phone atm and cant move her

I think they are nice for giving a bit more atmosphere. I just cant always lsiten to them right away because I'm posting on my phone or from a computer at school. Certainly dont detract

"Enough sitting around. Let's do this."

Amiri rests her sword on her shoulder and throws the doors open.
