The door to the tavern opens up as a large human enters. This man stands over seven feet in height and boasts a huge physique. His skin is pale, and his face carries a full beard and long braided blonde hair. Furs adorn his shoulders, and a large drinking horn made from a mammoth tusk rest along his side.
Nodding at the bartender...
Mead.
...and continues to walk over to the table where the party is residing.
He sits on the floor and his size is so big that he appears to be sitting on a chair.

interested and will adjust soon

I am not new at the PBP but I am also not a veteran. I have been around for about 5 years now and still playing my first Kingmaker. We are on our third GM but still have three of the original players.
I have found that being a parent makes it hard to sit down at a table with friends to game. I still play once a week one Rolld20/Discord but even then I am interrupted every few minutes. PBP games give me the flexibility to play on my time and not have to worry about interruptions.

I feel it is hard to bring a good group together without being in person. Every person has their own way of doing things and sometimes those things do not mesh well with others. I have seen my fair share of people that want to play power games and go on a power trip to people playing Lawful Good as Lawful my way or else. Everyone is different. It is hard to get a group together that will work well together. When it works it is great and everyone is enjoying themselves. People leave for personal reason or real life steps up and says no more gaming fro now. In my opinion...mostly people leave due to a to slow pace game or the Dm's style does not work with the players style. We are just looking for that Goldilocks game.

I have left games on a few occasions...once the DM would disappear for several weeks to a month without word. This happened several times and I was not the only player to not come back. I am here to have fun and hopefully to make others have fun as well. It is hard to tell exactly what someone means while on a computer but for the most part you can get the idea. I enjoy watching the story unfold.

The vast majority of the games I have been in have fail due to...I am sorry to say this...due to the DM not realizing just how much work goes into a PBP game. It is a long term commitment. I do not have the time to invest in GM of a game. I am very thankful to those that can run a game. I would think that when you have a new GM take over for a game, it slows things down as everyone is getting used to the new style. When this happens three or four times, you get a group that is playing the AP Book 1 for 5 years.

interested and will adjust soon.

interested.
very much so.

I present Hjorleaf Asvidrson
Human (Ulfen)
Fighter

Character's Voice:

Having singed on to escort a merchant group from the Icestair all the way to Katheer was a long and profitable journey. The merchant captain had high hopes of bring the furs of the Mammoth Lords along with exotic items from far away Tian Xia to the cities of the Inner Sea. A most bold and crazy endeavor that would see the spices of Qadira come to the north men of the cold climates. The ship did well on its way through the Innersea and all went profitable and well...that was until they made port at Golsifar. Having shore leave always brought a smile to the large man's face along with a lightening of his coin purse. His drinking and the strong military presence sometimes led to a misunderstanding. After a night in jail, Hjorleaf returned to port to see his ship sailing away. He was not sure what to do or even where he was. Bound and determine to get home, the north man did what he did best he escorted merchants to their preferred destination. This time it was just a single man that was returning home now that his time in the imperial navy was at an end. The overland travels to Heldren was quiet and uninspiring, that was until they notice the snow. It was odd but it did bring a sense of home. Once in Helfren Hjorleaf made his way to a tavern to relax and enjoy a drink or four. He ordered and walked to a table by himself. He sat on the floor next to the table as was his way. The chairs were too brittle for his frame and often made one soft and too relaxed when the time for action was needed. The men of the north desired no such comforts; instead wish to feel the earth beneath their bones as true warriors. His meal arrived and he paid with silver coins and went about his business. While he ate, men and women came and went as the day went on. Often times a look was given to him but for the most part he was left alone. Alone that is until several human came into the tavern, locals by the look of them. As they past by one of them whispered something to another of the men. They laughed, kept walking a few steps until another one turned around and looked at Hjorleaf. Hey Dwarf, when did you get into town. The jest was in a tone the made it clear the were trying to be funny and not confrontational.
Hjorleaf just stared at the men, his eyes roaming over them. He watched them for a good amount of time, wondering when they would react to his stare. He did not have to wonder long. The speaker stepped closer to the table and asked Do you not speak Taldane? The room got real quiet and Hjorleaf continued to stare. The local man shoke his head and muttered to himself. more dwarves...great

His voice is strong and its tone casts no misunderstand that he is not happy.
Jeg er ikke en dverg.
I am not a dwarf in Skald.

The "dwarf" stood up from his seat at the table but it was not a dwarf nor was he sitting in a chair at the table. His full frame stood taller than any other person in the room. Looking down at the locals, Hjorleaf laughs loudly and deeply.
The Taldane language comes to his lips quickly, having used it often on his ill fated merchant escort duty.
It is an easy mistake...I am sure.
He looks past the men to a poster on the tavern wall.
Perhaps you can tell me about this unusual snowfall...

Snow falls...how is that unusual? Even in summer it snows...

Interested....will get something up soon.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Sorry for your confusion.
as it states.
If he does not flee...
I attack. Consider it a held action.
You used your hex and I saved...My action was to attack again.
For a total of 46 points of damage which should put you a negative a lot
No AoO at all.

but just in case you do not like that then
I will take the first roll as my Init.
11+2 for a 13
You would go and attack me first with your hex.
I rolled 16 for the will save
I rolled a 18 for my attack for 21 points of damage.
I rolled a 15 for my next roll which even if you would use a hex slumber I would save and my next attack which has a high probability of hit would do 25 points of damage. Combat over!
No hard feelings but as you said this was coming due to the RP.

Now if you wish or the DM wishes to keep you around since you are the last one from the original group, I will happily step aside and leave the game. I even sent the DM a message some time ago stating the same thing because of the RPing. I said that it would come to blows if something was not done. Nothing was done hence the dead Magus.

Timm Tones
No PVP is not encourage and I did everything I could to ignore the character but he kept poking the bear with the constant passive aggressiveness. I let myself get sucked in and eventually responded as the character was design to. There came a point where it was obvious that the magus character was more concerned with his own well being then the group as a whole. I feel that this will come to be more and more a problem as the game goes along.

As a after thought
I am done.
I really enjoy the game and my character but I can not see the character continuing on with the magus as part of the group. I wish all of you luck in this game.

Please remove me from the game so that it will clear from my campaign list and I will not get updates.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

After the hex washes over him Hjorleaf counters the magus' attack with his own. Seeing him stagger back bleeding from a gaping hole in his chest brings a smile to his face.

Hearing the words from the others makes him shake his head.

He grows at the magus.
You will do well to never cross my path again.
and with those words he turns and walks away from the group. He makes his way to the village never to be seen again.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Seeing that the Magus had no intention of becoming an outlaw , Hjorleaf lets his initial attack continue and when the Magus begins to cast a spell, the large man swings his weapon again.
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Attack, PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 2 = 23
Damage, PA: 1d12 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 6 = 25

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Seeing the newcomer incinerate the fey creature brings a nod of thanks.

Skald:
Thank you for the assist nisse. It is greatly appreciated.

His feature turn from grateful to anger as he turns to the Magus. While the others are talking to the new Gnome, the large human approaches the Magus.

Skald:
Just one more thing to deal with.

Hjorleaf places himself between the house and the distant town. Moving purposely towards the magus, gripping his ax as he walks.
Skald:
You abandoned us to save yourself. I will give you a chance to run and be an outlaw.
He points in the direction of the wilderness.
You have to the count of three to start running. If you do not...then I will punish you for the crime of cowardice in the face of the enemy. One...two

If he does not flee:

...three
Hjorleaf increases his pace as he move quickly to strike at the Magus.

Attack, PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 10 - 2 = 19
Damage, PA: 1d12 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 6 = 21

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf looks to the others as the continue to to fight.
...so says the coward who ran and left his companions behind.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Gods damn him...
Hjorleaf roars in anger towards the house as he see the magus abandon the group.
You pathetic little s@!%. You better run far and fast...when I am done with this little f@!* here, I am going to kill you. Oh how the mighty scorcher of the Pale tower, catcher of bandits and necromancers runs like a coward to leave his companions behind. I am going to cut that lying tongue of yours out and use it to wipe my ass. Never earned those names and gave them to yourself to placate your delicate sense of worth. You are f~~~ing dead.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Stepping forward, Hjorleaf swings again.
Attack, PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 2 = 13
Damage, PA: 1d12 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 6 = 18
I am going use your spine to clean my teeth.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf looks at the creature wondering how badly he hurt it.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Stepping away from the attack, Hjorleaf growls in frustration.
Time to play Kubb.
Attack, PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 2 = 24
Damage, PA: 1d12 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 6 = 16

Closing the gap between him an his attack, the large man drags his weapon along the snow and then brings it up in an swing aimed at the sky.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

At the sound of the warning, Hjorleaf's ax appears in his hand. Moving it about as he scans the area for threats.
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Hjorleaf moves towards the house and the mysterious small humanoid.
Something move that way...heading for the house.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Just was looking over a few things to see where we stand with the characters and I noticed that there are different levels.
Porablum and I are at 4th level. Tim tones and Erystelle are both at 5th level. Did I miss a level...lol

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1
Erystelle wrote:
” Hjorleaf, Son of Asvidr, where did you learn your warcraft? That blow you landed on the Warg was well struck. To say the least.”

The large man smiles and waves his hand around the landscape.

This beautiful land is the best teacher. It is unrelenting and unforgiving. It cares not for who you are or who you think you are. It treats everyone and everything the same. You learn from it, respect it...or you die. Simple and to the point.

He slows his pace as he looks again at the landscape.
The Varg teach us that life is harsh. To survive, one must be respectful of that which the land give us and strong to withstand its wrath.

HJorleaf stops when the body comes into view. His eyes lift up and roam the horizon looking for source of this situation. His words are slow and direct as he keeps scanning the area
Little nisse...Do you think you can help Erystelle with that person. By mindful of tracks. We may be able to learn something from them.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Might be time to replace Easlis...the player has not posted anything since November 8th. Not sure if he is still here or not...

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Agreed...we restock and move on to Whitethrone.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

True...backstrap is good on most animals.

Hjorleaf looks to the gnome.

Little Nisse...come, you will like the meat...

he looks to the cold that is outside their current location.
We do not waste anything in the north. The land is not kind to those that do not prepare and are not worthy of its bounty. She is a harsh mistress. Take what you can and I will carry the rest.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Let us leave this place soon...

He then looks to the worgs.
...not before we take care of these guys.
Survival: Food and skins?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf nods his thanks at the elf for the healing. He then looks to the elk and then just motions towards the side of the clearing.

Not sure what the elf is saying and with a voice that is too soft for someone so large...
***In Skald***
Just let it go...it has earned a right to live another day.
and with those words he nods his head to the elk and again gestures to the side of the clearing.
Go on...run free

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Looking down at the bloody wound...
Ohhh...you want to play. There may be some thing left of you to make a pair of boots...
Attack, Bless. PA: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 26
Damage, PA: 1d12 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 6 = 23

Seeing the devastation his strike does...
...maybe not

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf charges the closest Worg, using his speed to add to his swing.
Attack, Bless, Charge, PA: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 31

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Come little Nisse...you should always show respect and ask for Erastil's blessing before one engages a bull. Even children know this.

Hjorleaf steps away from the area, pulling the gnome behind him in protection. He shakes his head...he keeps his eyes facing the Elk.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

...and...the wolves might take offense to stealing their food.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

In Taldane, Hjorleaf lets a slight smile show on his face...
Little Nisse...pine trees all smell the same. It pretty much is the only tree in the land.

and it disappears just as quickly.
unfortunately we can not stay here long. This place albeit nice and refreshing is a beacon for our enemies. We need to move along and be away from here quickly.

Hjorleaf stares out to the whiteness beyond.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf moves to the side of Porablum and keep an eye on her.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

I do not feel that the GM is at fault. Sometimes players and characters do not mesh well together. I thank you for running this game and sticking with it.

As for the future...
what are we doing? I would hate run this scene if it is for naught. What do you as the GM want to do?

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf looks to the little one.
Little Nisse
The large man looks from the gnome to the elf and...
Carfeful, we know little about this one.

...to Grim.

Skald:
[b]What say you Grim.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

2...I think now is a good spot to recruit and I would be fine to take some time to recruit a player.
3. I would rather not do that
4. I am fine with joining another of your games if that would be easier on you.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf shifts to his left keeping his eyes on the elf.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Gripping his weapon Hjorleaf moves to the left side of Grim
If this...elf...wants a fight, I will take left.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Did we lose Grim?
been 10 days since his last post here but is posting in other games.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Pointing his axe towards the green trees.
Grim, What do you make of that.?

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf looks around and shrugs when nothing more is said.
Well...We should be on our way then. No sense for us to remain when you two have some catching up to do. Be careful and good luck to both of you.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Hjorleaf nods as the trap is brought forth. He is a bit confused when they mention about other not approving of them.
I am not sure how things are done around these parts but where I am from...we help one another. It is necessary for all to survive. I can only guess that out here the current situation with the witches has everyone on edge.

He looks the trap over.
This is a generous gift and we accept it with honor and respect in which it was intended for.

He bows slightly
Thank you

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

It is times like these that we need to help one another.
The large man sits on the ground next to a table and lets his shoulders sage slightly.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf steps back a bit to allow the reuniting to continue without their interruption.

The tall human chuckles slightly as he scans the surround terrain.

Skald:
[b]Looks like you got some explaining to do. Perhaps this would be better done...inside.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Skald:

Very well, Grim lead the way and...

He looks to the large man.
...What is your name?

After he man answer Hjorleaf looks back to grim
We will follow you with little Nisse to make sure he is ok to travel.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Hjorleaf brushes off the spores that the mold creature shot at him.
Looking down at the man, the Ulfen reaches a hand out to him.
Come get off the cold ground. I am Hjorleaf, son of Asvidr. I know not whom this Sylgja is or where they are. You were in that there cave under the control of some mold. We were able to dispatch the creature and you appear to be yourself again.

He looks to the gnome with a look of respect.
The little nisse will fix you up good as new.

The large human nods at Grim
Grim and I can help you get home if you wish. The lone wolf does not last long out in these lands.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Slippery little f~+~
Again the large man attempts to grab the mold.
Grapple : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

No words are spoken as the large man charges forward with a steady gate. His ax is across his back as he comes up to the large man and grabs a large hunk of the creatures. Hjorleaf tries to grab it with both hands and pulls with all his might in hopes of freeing this man of his curse.
Grapple? to garb the moss thingy with charge: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 2 = 21

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Looking to grim and Porablum...
Let us just go up and drawl it out...I can rip this plant out of him. When I get it off of him you can then burn the damn thing. That is what we should do. I think there is enough wind and tree cover to obstruct the flow of smoke. Or if you do not want to use fire...I can always hack the s~*! out of it.

I will go after it and try to remove the mold.

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

Do you think it is like a plant in that when you remove it from its source of food it will die? Like pulling a weed out of the dirt?

Just passing the time as I have not much as to add to this...

Male HP:13/13 AC:16 T:12 FF:14 F:+4 R:+2 W:+3 Perc:+2 Init:+2 Great axe +5, 1d12+5 CMB:+4 CMD:14 Human Fighter 1

What else do you know of this mold...any way we can kill it without harming...person?
