"Perhaps we should be looking for what's missing, then.... but... well there is an expression my people have... 'you must know what you're hunting for before you can actually hunt.' Maybe it is best if we just hunt down the goblins like we wanted. Maybe i am overthinking the situation."

"Well met, she who is called Shalelu Andosana. If what you say is true, then we must act quickly and remove the head of the snake if you will. The five tribes, with no head, will return to in-fighting amongst themselves and Sandpoint will be safe again. Now, we have been told a Longshank leads them. Do you know anything of this?"

"Right away indeed." Hawkeye is ready to go whenever his companions are ready to go as well.

"Thank you." Hawkeye says, rubbing his wound. The itchy warm feeling of positive energy always surprises him. Hawkeye returns his spear and takes out his walking stick. "Shall we return? I feel the sense of hunger return to me and this kill could feed us for a few days as we hunt down our attackers."

When we return, he travels a lot slower than earlier due to his wound. He also is using his stick as a crutch more. That wound was particularly nasty.

"Thank you."

He waits for someone to look at his wounds. If no one notices, he says
"It is customary for he who takes the first charge to be the first one healed if that is alright."

Round 2
HP: 5/13
AC: 17 (+2 for spear) = 19

Hawkeye doesn't even notice he is wounded. He is focused so much on the hunt that his own pains are ignored. He lashes back with the spear to counter the boar's assault.

"The thrill of the hunt. This is my domain. The outdoors. The lands and forest of Varisia are my home. I move with my clan... used to at least. Now I move in a direction to prevent a great evil. Onward in this direction, he who is called Aldern Foxglove." Hawkeye stoops over the tracks and points in the direction they are heading. "He isn't too far up ahead. We shall catch him today. Let me go ahead and scout."

Hawkeye sneaks up ahead to not startle his prey. He knows he is a good distance away yet, but boars get spooked very easily.

Hawkeye graciously accepts the gift. "You have my thanks."

LOL!
Hawkeye laughs at himself at Nakimi's dead mouse and see's it as a symbol of his chances with Shayliss.

"Sigh... if the earth mother wills it I shall meet her again."

I got my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. Sorry for not posting earlier. I could look at a computer screen barely for a minute or two before having to lie back down. Between the anesthesia and "the good stuff" they give you was apparently "too good" for myself to handle properly.

DMD:

haha! oh man! Forbidden romance. The best kind of romance.

Hawkeye says nothing back to him. He is unsure what to do in such a particular setting so he says nothing. His heart is pounding even more so then during the goblin fight. He's never been with that many girls and is disappointed about his squandered afternoon delight. He blames himself.
What a fool. So stupid. I could have been stealthier. No! I should not have done it in the first place. But... Shayliss oh what a lady. How I long to kiss her again.

Assuming hawkeye has time before the boar hunt

Hawkeye returns to the bar looking flustered and greets everyone again. When asked about his friend, he says he met the most beautiful girl he has ever seen and "had a misunderstanding with her father."

He'll pack alone and attempt to borrow an inkpen and paper to write a note. Once packed, he meets everyone downstairs again and goes outside for a quick moment.

DMD:

He whistles again for Nakimi. He knows he does not know the language of animals, but speaks to her anyways. "There you been, girl. I swear you get bigger everyday."
handle animal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7err i hope this works!
Hawkeye takes a hair of Shayliss and ties it around his little note.
"Take this to her, Nakimi. The girl who smells like honey. But be stealthy about it. After you may meet me again and my new friends! You'll like them. We're going hunting. I bet you'd like that too. Boar hunting. It will prove to be most exciting, I bet."

dmd:

Silent as a shadow. Fast as a cheetah.

Hawkeye breaks for the stairs as Ven Vinder is looking the other way.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 He makes eye contact with Shayliss briefly as he bolts out of the store.

Hawkeye busts out of the house and, using his fingers, whistles for his bird. He desperately tries to not look back and keeps walking to the rusty dragon.

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

DMD:

"I don't see any rats. Are you sure they have nested here?"
Hawkeye's eyes dilate and he feels his heart pounding as she moves in to embrace. "I..." He embraces her and swims in that sweet smell of honey. They kiss barely for a moment before Hawkeye breaks off. During this time of returned senses, Hawkeye hears the sounds of someone coming down the stairs. He whispers, "Someone is coming. Quick! Get dressed."
Almost by instinct, Hawkeye gracefully leaps into the shadows without making a sound. He hides in wait for the intruder to make the first move.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

WHAT HAVE I DONE? MY FATHER WOULD NOT APPROVE. WHY MUST HER HAIR BE SO SWEET?

DMD:

Hawkeye takes notice of the beautiful girl. Her hair smells sweet. Like honey. "That is most unfortunate, she who is called Shayliss Vinder. Where I come from it is dishonorable for a man to not keep his dwelling clean...." Flutters of nervousness and surprise hit Hawkeye when she grabs his arm. "As you say...your father is a busy man, I will certainly help you and him and cleanse his dwelling. This problem must be addressed soon though. One rat becomes many very quickly. My bow will make short work of these creatures." Hawkeye sounds confident and looks forward to showing off to she who is called Shayliss Vinder with her soft hands and her honey smelling hair.

I'll be following Occa. In the meantime I'll prolly see what my Nakimi has been up to these past few days.

Hawkeye is polite but hiding his discomfort.

"It is nice to meet you he who is called....."

He senses Occa's similar discomfort and like a moth to flame, moves closer to him.

"It feels strange, no? I feel our praise is not worthy to our Gods. Like an anthill in the shadow of a mountain."

Hawkeye eats very little. He is gracious for the Rusty Dragon's hospitality, but feels as though he doesn't deserve the recognition. He has done what he thought anyone in his position would have done.

"The food is very good. Thank you. I am sorry I do not have much of an appetite this morning."

Hawkeye would love to turn in for the night. He's had a long day today. Unfamiliar with customs for goodbye, he keeps things simple.
"Good evening, everyone."

He quickly returns to his room, just missing Durvin's entrance, and begins his nightly rituals.

I wonder how Nakimi is doing...

DM Duke wrote:
Ameiko returns with the party's drinks and answers Occa's question. "What you did was enough, believe me! Without you, many more people would have been injured, or the gods forbid, killed... These kind of things don't happen often at all. We see the occasional goblin lurking in our trash or terrorizing a dog, but they are easily driven off. Most of the time they stay away."
Occa muses..I wonder why they don't like dogs?

"I wonder this too. I remember hearing a story as a child, but it currently escapes me. I recall them hating horses just as much."

"Thank you, she who is called Ameiko Kaijitsu. I, Hawkeye Talquimm, am honored by your hospitality. A drink sounds very nice about now. You have my thanks."

Hawkeye helps Occa and the injured however he can as well.

"Some days we are shepards. Other days we are sheep. We must all look out for one another."

"It is known! You humble yourself, friend. You helped a lot of people today. Our catch has told us a Longshank was responsible for the planning of the attack. He who is called Stark is devising a plan for retaliation right now. I tell you, that man's powers give even me the shivers."

"I am going to look for our friend, Occa." Hawkeye hopes to catch up with Occa to ask him a few things in the Cathedral. Also he'd like to see how his Earth brothers and sisters pray to their own gods.

Assuming he finds Occa before he heads back to the Rusty Dragon

Such a holy place. So much wonder. Yet filled today with such suffering.

Hawkeye see's Occa doing his priestly thing. He knows better than to disrupt a shaman in mid-ritual so he politely waits for Occa to finish before approaching.

"He who is called Occa! It is a pleasure to see you, friend. I see you have taken care of those here."

Welcome back!

How was the move?

Our GM is moving to a new place. He said he'll be prettttyyy busy and without the reliable internet until this coming week.

I went ahead and spoiled a revision of Hawkeye as a falconer with an Nakimi the eagle (Baby Roc) in my profile at the bottom.

Actually how about we keep him as an eagle for now? I'll use the stats for an eagle but he is really a baby roc. At a future date could we agree that he grows to a medium roc and then later a large roc?

I just downloaded my copy of Ultimate Combat.

All I can say is: Forget word-casting. Hawkeye should be a Ranger with Falconer archetype. Would you allow a Roc companion? This roc will be the roc egg that was hatched with the birth of hawkeye. Otherwise I could use an eagle. I can give you all the information about it but here is the synopsis.

Spoiler:

FALCONER (ARCHETYPE)
Rangers have always enjoyed a special bond with a specific
animal, but the falconer takes this bond to a deeper level.
Falconers begin with their companion earlier than other
rangers, and have the ability to teach their companions
special tricks.

Feathered Companion (Ex): At 1st level, a falconer earns the
trust and companionship of a bird of prey. The bird can be of
any type of large hunting or scavenging bird (even a vulture).
This ability functions like the druid animal companion
ability (which is part of the nature bond class feature),
but the falconer must take the bird animal companion,
and that companion has only half the normal hit points.

Replaces wild empathy

His feathered companion gets full hp at level 4

at level 6 his animal companion gets a charge feature where he dives on an enemy (has to be outside).

We can let his companion continue roaming until I call for him and we set out to find this longshank.

There is errata out for heirloom weapon, too. If you don't mind I'll change that trait to savannah child for handle animal. I'll also have to re-do purchases. Because heirloom weapon has been super-nerfed, I'll go ahead and use average ranger gold and craft my bow.

Honestly I am afraid of what you can do too.

"Understood."

"Hmm."

He calls over to Stark and speaks in his ear. "This person had control of lots of goblins. Certainly he can handle a few goblins and his friends. What is stopping him from just running away and not dealing with the man responsible? I doubt these things are honorable and keep to plans as you hope."

"He is bait?"

Hawkeye is taking the time to examine his bow. "I really could have used you today, friend. Our wise-man let me use his crossbow but it is not the same as you."

He hears Stark's banging and request and opens the door.

"It pleases me I do not bore you. I... am unfamiliar with the stories of those who see the great waters more than the land. I would like to hear them. I will repay you with more stories of my own if you wish."

"So we know the longshank is someone tall. Good. Good. This is a start. This trail may be more fresh than we think!"

Good luck with the moving DMD!

"Ohhh. My what a strange concept. I know nothing of that where I am from. Where I am from you answer all questions asked by your elders. Liars are severely punished. The Sky Father is greatly displeased when his children lie. This is known! We respect his wishes or he shall return to us like he did in the times of my ancestors. Back then he would take the form of a great eagle named Tal-Rah. He would prey upon the wicked! He has not done this for many many years but my clan pays our respects, give sacrifices, respects the world, and lives as free-men to please him. I'm sorry. I am probably boring you all."

Hawkeye, satisfied with his answers trusts Stark to do what he has to do and wouldn't suspect him of harming a prisoner and leaves. In fact, he rushes for whisper talon and his quiver. He is never letting go of that bow after today.

"Ahhhh. My mistake. It sounded like a name. So then longshanks are non-goblins? Are they human or elven? Surely longshanks would not include our friend who is called Durvin Tamish."

I tried writing something saying its a PbP game, how things are a little slow but they pick back up, but I felt no matter what I wrote I came off like a pretentious douche. Since you manned-up and notified us how you feel instead of just disappearing off the boards you definitely deserve something better than what I had originally wrote. Too bad I'm not sure how to say it.

Since the start of the campaign your character has kind of been very introspective and the none of those festival games really were tailored to your set of skills. When the fight broke out you were on those suckers blasting away with jets of fire and you seemed to be enjoying the game... now that we have hit a lull I see why you feel left out again. Maybe DMD could introduce an NPC for you to talk to and keep you active during this time? After starting my own PbP it is very different from a real-life game and sometimes its hard to tell what people want.
There is no harm in questioning the DM or wanting some more stuff so you can feel more active.

Like I have to admit that I thought your reticence was self-imposed and not a fault of the DM, too.

"Hmmph. The beast speaks true, everyone. You Longshanks very well could have commanded them. We must track down he who is called You Longshanks and make him pay."

I may not have sense-motive but I have knowledge(Nature) to see if he is telling the truth!

"Toad? Perhaps I can help afterall."

From the back of the jail, Hawkeye steps forward and asks aloud

"What does your toad taste-like? Surely you have licked your toad for good luck. Speak true and we will take your vile spit for having some truth in the matter."

After asking, Hawkeye doesn't quite understand his logic for proposing how this lends credence to the claims of the goblin after or how to properly interrogate but he dismisses the doubts and at least his answer will satisfy the answer to the age old question: "do goblins with pet toads actually lick them?"
Knowledge(Nature):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Hawkeye's mind right now is currently exploding while he is observing what Durvin and Skorabor Skalfgrin Boulderback, son of Kargunt Boulderback, the Warlord of Stoneshire's actions and the goblin's reactions. He is wildly perplexed by Durvin's sympathy for the creature and the Dwarf is getting very upset over this. Hawkeye stands in the back, still observing and ponders.

"This is too much! This interrogating as they say... is a dance for chiefs, not shamans. I best sit and wait and only step in if asked."

Hawkeye is closely listening to the dwarf's attempts at interrogations. He wants to learn. Hawkeye has never "interrogated" prey before.

Lol I love that now all Shoanti tribesman refer to someone by how they refer to themselves to the letter. :D

Hawkeye pauses. He knows exactly what he means. Ever since he left his tribe, he, too, has felt himself speaking more and more like the non-native tribesmen. Hawkeye nods respectfully to the tribesman.

Hawkeye listens to Hemlock's words and contemplates on the confessions of the goblin.

"hmm... goblins don't work off orders of anyone..."

Do I know what tribe he is from?

In Shoanti
"Well met, he who is called Vachedi."

"Ah, Syra, it has been too long. Congratulations on your big day." Tiomir reciprocates the hug and Rufus gives her a gruff nuzzle. "This is quite the celebration."

"The biggest! Gods it is amazing to see you. Rufus looks bigger since I remember him on campus! Remember when my other classmates petitioned to get him to be the school's mascot?!" She chuckles. "It feels forever ago. What have you been up to? Did you ever solve.. what was it? I can't remember..."

Valeska wrote:

She adds, "Why have I received the honor of your presence, Lord Parooh?"

"Well I was looking for something to pass the time at this wedding and... well.. just a moment!" He laughs and casts a spell. "Zoloto, come!" Another dark raven flies into the tent and perches on the shoulder of the gnome. "Zoloto, this is Tzerny."

"Zoloto, Tzerney and Valeska here are harrowers. What do you think about that?"

"CAW! I'm smarter." Says the bird.

"Oh you are? He isn't normally like that. I thought he'd like to meet another of his species but apparently he's feeling arrogant. Must have been from all that corn today, I see..hmm.. I have an idea! If you aren't waiting on another customer.. why don't we have a contest...to see who has the smartest raven!"

The reception area is enclosed by the castle itself. It is being held on the greens. (A park-like area of sorts.) You're still more than welcome to walk him around.

"He who is called, Skorabor Skalfgrin Boulderback of the Boulderback clan of dwarves, I must disagree. I wish I could think it to be so simple but my heart tells me more is at stake. There is a great evil coming and I must face it. This could be the fist omen. I think it prudent to talk to the gaurds and see what we can do to help protect in case of another attack or even bring the attack to the goblins. To wash our hands of this tonight would not be wise, I fear."

"Repayment to me is not necessary, he who is called Aldern Foxglove. The sun expects no payments for doing what it does and neither do I. I'm sure my friends and I would appreciate eating with you, though. I am sorry for your loss."

Hawkeye listens to the guards and thinks
It is truly fortunate that this attack left so few dead! Peace and order has been restored at this festival. Finally.

"Goblins do as goblins do, friend. But to attack in such a force is curious and concerning. I fear the dark clouds lurking above in our near future and it must be us who stand to face it."

Thank you. You have been a very fair and generous diety/GM. :)
I have him about 90% done in Hero Lab but I won't be able to post up the new version of him until later this evening when I get home from work.

Hawkeye mutters a Shoanti prayer for the dead dog.

To any who speak Shoanti it translates to
"May the Sky Father watch over you as your spirit returns to the Earth Mother's embrace."

Hawkeye nervously looks at the nobleman and looks to Occa to see if he is going to go help him. He nervously thinks to himself.

"I can offer no healing at this time.. I would be not of much use to this man.. you should take a look at him."

He calls out to the nobleman. "Sobbing man, are you injured?"
