Hello All,

I put a barrier between my player's and their objective. The objective is encased in 40 feet of ice in all directions that they can approach from.

The technomancer in the group has the Devastator's Cache ability and can use overheat continuously for 24 hours.

The players stated that they would like to use overheat to melt a 15 foot wide tunnel through the ice and get to the objective. The players also stated that they would heat the melted water to boiling and boil it off. They also acknowledge that it may take a couple of days and that they may have to brace the tunnel.

It seems like I will have to allow it.

I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions.

I have been thinking about allowing my players to select their class skills at character creation instead of being forced into the listed class skills.

Created PCs would still get the same number of class skills Envoy 16, Mechanic 8, Mystic 12, etc....

I am thinking that the only mandatory skill would be profession (I already have a house rule in place that you have to have a profession and at least 1/2 your level in ranks in said profession).

This would allow players the freedom to create things like a scientific based Envoy or a Soldier that can be the face of the party. Virtually any concept a player can think of could be done in this way.

I know you can add class skills by burning a feat with Skill Synergy but that actually winds up hurting classes with low skill points.

As I am not added any more allowable skills per class nor adding any additional skill points, I don't really see any downside.

What do others think?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Hello All,

Two quick questions.

1: Are improved unarmed strikes still considered archaic?

2: Can a PC/NPC with improved unarmed strike elect to deal non-lethal damage instead of lethal?

I believe the answers are: yes to both

Hello All,

Next up for my players is to take back a water collection and pumping facility from bad guys who are holding the populous of a desert world hostage.

I am looking for a pre-published adventure where the PCs need to take over a factory or just a factory layout (purchase or free) that I can populate myself.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello All,

Last night one of my player's decided to use scrying. This would have been the first time since we converted to PFRPG when it came out!

In 3.5 the materials and focuses were pretty clear.

Arcane: The eye of a hawk, an eagle, or a roc, plus nitric acid, copper, and zinc along with a 1,000 GP silver mirror

Cleric: A holy water font costing not less than 100 GP.

Druid: a natural pool of water

The PFRPG version is a little more cloudy.

It appears that an arcane caster needs a pool of water and a 1,000 GP mirror, while a divine caster needs a divine focus and a 1,000 GP mirror.

Am I reading that correctly?

I would like to know what others out there think.

Thanks in advance.

Hello All,

I got a tough one here and could use a little help.

An NPC has been poisoned (and killed) by an assassin who used Modify Memory right after the poisoning so that the victim does not realize they were assassinated.

My players used speak with dead in an attempt to get some leads on the killer's identity or who may have hired the killer.

During questioning the players have deduced that modify memory may have been used.

So the question is: Can the players use Break Enchantment to remove the permanent affect of Modify Memory on a deceased person?

I am really not sure how to rule on this. I would think by the rules it would be no, but it is certainly a very clever idea.

Thanks in advance for any input.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hello All,

My players have just defeated Vordakai and have returned back to the centaur camp.

I ran my PCs through Dudemeister's centaur events (great stuff - loved by the players - thanx!) and after 6 months the PCs and the cenaturs had become friendly.

Upon learning about Vordakai, the PCs leader (Duchess Gwendolyn) went off on Chieftain Silverfire (the PCs were not happy about the 6 months delay in getting to Vordakai)telling her they would defeat Vordakai and rescue her daughter, but upon her return the Duchess would demand that Chieftan Silverfire bend her knee and be added to the Duchy.

Upon the PCs return Chieftain Silverfire thanked the PCs for all they did, but also said that she cannot bend her knee to the Duchess, stating that a centaur tribe has one cheiftain and the cheiftain answers to no one.

So what to do?

The PCs could just claim hexes in the centaur lands but I cannot believe that the centaurs would be fine with that.

Can the cenataurs and the PCs share the area to south of Varnhold?

If so how?

Suggestions and ideas are most welcome at this point.

Thanx!

Question came up in last night's session.

The party wizard was invisibile when casting detonate. I ruled that she became visible upon casting.

She is stating that she would not become visible until the spell goes off in the next round, becasue this initial casting of the spell is not an attack as it is infusing her body with energy.

I can see her point.

What do other's think?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanx!

Hello All,

My players have asked me to rule on this:

Can they change an item of value into another item of equal value?

Example: 5000 GP worth of gold into 5000 GP worth of silver

or 1000 GP of rubies into 1000 GP of diamonds?

The rule as I read it would seem to allow this as wealth is not being created only transformed.

Any input would be welcome here.

Thanx!

What is the accurate map scale?

If I use the map in the Darkmoon Vale guide the distance from Falcon's Hollow is about 30 miles.

If I use the Andoran guide the distance is 100 miles.

The Campaign Setting and the Gazetter also have different scales.

I am trying to map northwestern Andoran and really need an accurate measurement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

1. The Student of War PRC has the Know Your Enemy Ability which requires a move action to use.

Can the Student of War be moving while using this ability?

2. Flaming, frost and shock wepons become so on command.

Is there a duration on how long this lasts?

Can a player just state that it is always active?

3. Detonate Spell (APG)

Can casters use the Selective Spell Metamagic (APG) feat to exclude themselved from the automatic half damage they take?

Thanx!

Hawk

Edited: added a third question

Hello All,

Does the poison from a Huge monstrous scorpion increase in damage or duration over what is presented with a large monstrous scorpion?

If so how does one calculate a new level of damage or duration?

I can find nothing that says it does.

I understand the DC of the save goes up.

I cannot believe the poison does not become more damaging.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

I have a question about the bardic music ability and effective bard level.

I understand a 7th level pathfinder chronicler has an effective bard level of 5.

So a ranger 6 /pathfinder chronicler 7 has an effective bard level of 5.

I am confused as to what the effective bard level is if I have a
bard 6 / pathfinder chronicler 7.

The wording is unlclear (to me anyways)how they would stack.

Is my effective bard level 11th or 13th?

Thanx!

Hello All,

There are a number of variant clerics that don't have turn / rebuke undead as a class feature.

What does one do with channel positive / negative energy in this case?

Remove it as well?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanx!
