Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Well, either way then CR15 creature or Herald. And I would ask if we are meant to 1. destroy the Stone? 2. wrest it from the dragon? 3. or take it elsewhere for safekeeping? Hali will try to locate a library or town records which would have
2. a little history of who has had it (dragon presumably?)
3. why Tesh and the Dragon have renewed their squabble after all this time.Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 20 = 40 She will actually do research and take 20 on each topic. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() If we rest, I'll have a few of my offensive abilities back. But mostly I'm good at team support. And I agree with Lotus, there is still a lot we don't understand here. So far I think Tesh was a greater villain than the dragon, although I'm not inclined to give him any hostages besides the count. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Sorry I was away for a couple. RL kicked me for a bit. I *REALLY, REALLY, REALLY* wanted to ask the Dragon *WHY* he was mad at Tesh, and *WHY* he straffed the town in the first place, and *WHY* he kidnapped the soon-to-be-married couple (if in fact he did). Is there any chance at all of getting those questions in "before the dragon leaves?" I don't know about 20 hostages, but I know of ONE in particular I'd be willing to part with -she points to the rapidly retreating Count- She pats TikTik comfortingly on his claws. ::We will NOT give over innocents, I promise you.:: ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Message to Thogg and the othersThogg, give me a moment to talk to the dragon if I can. There must be a reason for these sudden attacks. Let's see if we can find out if the stupid leaders provoked him somehow, before mighty Thogg sets about smashing this drake. Hali will give herself (and all the others if they wish to Aid her-hint, hint-) a +3 to Diplomacy thru lingering song of competence. Then she will try to maneuver in front of the Dragon and address him. Hail Great Drake! Might I request a moment of your time? I beseech you to tell us why you are unleashing your wrath against these small townsfolk who are beneath the notice of once as mighty as you? Here's hoping...
Edit: I am soo... toasted. Can I try again in another round? ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Is TikTik diplomatic? I have a +13, and can give myself another +3. Although his Aid Another might be useful with his Draconic heritage. Lotus, didn't you have a skill-boosting spell, or is it already gone today? Just side notes-- Hali has on air barrier, haste, and wings of air. She also has a fly skill of +22. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Hali is torn between helping the still-staggered people within the temple, and helping Thogg confront the core of the problem. Finally she decides. Lotus, I'm sorry. Do what you can for these people. The dragon is outside. They are usually extremely intelligent, and he may yet be reasoned with... if Thogg doesn't start using his own brand of diplomacy first. With haste still up Hali double-moves toward the outside, and also re-grows her wings as a free action. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Because of the mighty Thogg's strength and boldness, Tesh did not have time to deliver his soliloquoy of evil... and tell us what he was up to. So let's just see if we can figure it out. Halistria will explore around the altar trying to find out what Tesh was up to. (presuming Lotus already tended to the guy on the altar, but if not, she'll check on his health too.) She can take 10 as a standard action on Knowledge Checks so...
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Bravo Thogg! That was magnificent! But what in Shelyn's name is wrong with these people? Enthralled people are normally released upon the death of their captor. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Hali would like to do a countersong to wake them up, if she can figure out what's wrong first. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Just to make sure I'm keeping up. We scouted. We buffed. Thogg smashed the door. Round 1 actions. Clarification of Round 1 effects. Round 1 AoOs. Round 2 just started with Kaz taking his action. More clarifying of Round 1 and Lotus (who I thought cast Greater Dispel as her action). And Clarifying Round 1 AoO for TikTik. Am I following? ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Thogg gets an additional +2 to hit and +2 to damage from Hali's song (if it matters with those rolls) Hali will attempt a target Dispel Magic at Tesh. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Targeted Dispel:
One object, creature, or spell is the target of the dispel magic spell. You make one dispel check (1d20 + your caster level) and compare that to the spell with highest caster level (DC = 11 + the spell's caster level). If successful, that spell ends. If not, compare the same result to the spell with the next highest caster level. Repeat this process until you have dispelled one spell affecting the target, or you have failed to dispel every spell. Let's see who's so high and mighty now! then after spell goes "Meh!" she adds, You. I guess its still you. As a free action she'll activate Wings of Air ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Hali rolled initiative at the top of the page... 27. I think Lotus and Thogg have posted theirs too. Is Kaz still around? I'll take the following from Blessing of Fervor (Thanks Lotus!)
Quote: Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() I would do my buff (song of courage) right before thogg smashes the door (he apparently hates). It lasts 3 rounds. I would hope lotus would hold off until we are all about to enter too, to get maximum duration. And... are you botting Keffle? I think we'll need the manpower/summoned creature power. If you are, could he have summoned them, already? ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Hmm, can't use detection spells in this form. The 23 people... do they look like enthralled townspeople? or more like evil acolytes in robes and such? And Knowledge Arcana on the wispy thing: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31 Can't stay too long. It looks like Tesh senses me. Gotta go get backup. Hali slides back under the door and rematerializes. Then shares what she saw with the group. Lotus, do you have about 50 of your friends hanging around? I think we're gonna need some tasty firepower of goodness in there. And I vote Thogg gives our friend here a good thunk to the noggin. Don't want him aiding and abbetting. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Alright. First Hali goes to the next door and checks for traps.
Wow! My first 20 in like forever! So I'm gonna wait for a response for that, before going invisible and gaseous and sliding under the door. I'd ask for buffs, but I don't think they hold when I'm gaseous. We'll do our buffs when/if I get back! ::Stay in touch you little scoundrel!:: ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Waiting to hear the response to the inimitable Thogg's question. But also asking TikTik: ::What do you think of us doing a quick scout of the other side of that wall? I can go invisible and gaseous for a short time, to take a quick peek. How about you?:: Before we actually all go thru Hali would like to sing a song of courage (unless Thogg prefers the dance?) It would grant +2 to saves, attacks, and damage for 3 rounds. And if Lotus has any protection buffs or added HP buffs that would be lovely. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() After Lotus' channel, I just need to give myself one more cure light to be at full. So, Count, it seems you've turned leadership of this town over to a necromancer of some sort. What more can you tell us about him, and what we'll find in the next room? I'm asking nicely, so you can answer me fully and truthfully, or you can wait for him -indicates Thogg- to ask not-so-nicely.
![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Grievously injured, (down 60 out of 79 hp)Hali takes a 5' step back and casts cure serious wounds on herself. 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) + 9 = 21 Great smiting of that symbol, Thogg! One more round of that and I'd have been gone. I didn't see the creatures saves to my and Kaz's round 2 spells. It was minimal damage to be sure, but still its nice to know we're chipping away. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() I'm the lucky one again, huh? No chance it got Thogg-meat-shield-for-the-party instead? I think we're hoping Thogg will smash the floor symbol. Keffle can be outside with the count, although I wish the count was already here to be potential target practice too. Will save:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() I was thinking you could just channel positive energy... It is undead. The GM already told you it would work full strength... which none of my or Kaz's or TikTik's will. You've got the only thing-- Channel positive energy, that will work full strength against it. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() @Lotus: I think you should attack then. You are the only one with real firepower against this thing. Kaz and I can only dink it a little. I can do a little back up healing while you attack. Also can we say we dragged the count in here with us? Give him a chance at being the one sucked of blood? @ Count, I'd say your appointed advisor is doing a wonderful job! Lotus, smite this thing! ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Will save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
@Thogg-- I dunno, maybe smash the symbol? I thought I read magic weapons could hit incorporeal. @Lotus-- Can you channel to heal me and Kaz and hurt the cloud? I'll 5' step to K14 and do another lightning breath at L!3 (away from Kaz)
![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Can I get a few GM pre-rulings here? Very few of my abilities seem to be effective... How about wind-based? How about sonic? And just to make sure I understand... the symbol and the mist are attacking separately? And there was no chance for a save from the symbol? And, one more thing... I'm at a conference now thru Mon. I'll only be able to check in the evenings.(EST) ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Then Hali will try Lightning Breath from where she was originally standing, right next to the Mist, before taking the 5' step back. Lightning Breath: Lightning Breath (Su): As a standard action, you can breathe a 30-foot line of electricity. This line deals 1d4 points of electricity damage per oracle level. A Reflex save halves this damage. You can use this ability once per day, plus one additional time per day at 5th level and every five levels thereafter.
9d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4, 4) = 31 ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Upon identifying the Mist, Hali initially looks nervous, but then she sets a grim expression and prepares to blast the abomination. When she has the chance to act, she casts a ray of Searing Light directly into the creature, and then takes a 5' step back.
Lotus, I don't think Abadar would approve of this undead monstrosity dwelling in his temple, do you? ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() And here we go! @TikTik: Is anything simply normal in this town of yours? Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
also adding (disregard if duplicates of above):
How high is ceiling? ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Quote:
2 things: the speed, which I just realized could have done both in one round; and the count's reaction. Normally I would have argued for a different reaction, but with the interruption it became a moot point. Onward ho! ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() What drow woman? Hali appears as a "normal" if exceptionally beautiful elf. Hali shoots Keffle a dirty look. Under her breath you hear her mutter, Men! Sound and fury signifying nothing. I could have obtained the counts cooperation without endangering the townspeople. But you just had to prove that your... weapon... was larger.
She quickly brushes her dress, and it returns to its original more modest lines. To the woman with the count (who I'm guessing succumbed to fascinate and suggestion easily)she says, You are very sleepy, and when you wake you will remember none of this. ::What do you know of this "Tesh"? And can you get Thogg? We're going to go smash people now, apparently.:: ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() I am satisfied with the compromise, of starting the action and being interrupted. I love roleplaying and have no objection to it. What I objected to was taking an action. Then having the GM roll responses to that action. Role-playing it with another character three times. And then 2 days later have somebody say, "none of that ever happened because I did this." You are correct that I didn't confer with the group before deciding. In the privacy of my own mind I have been holding back posting actions, waiting for the group leaders to make some decisions before contributing. And then I get impatient because nobody's posting. And I like this game. And I really wanna PLAY! I would be really happy to confer more on strategy. Are the original members able to take more time to post and confer? Just FYI on Bardic Performance Abilities for future reference. Sorry I didn't include with initial post.: Bardic Perfomance Fascinate and Suggestion: Bardic Performance Hali has six other performance abilities, but I just included the pertinent ones here. Short version: not spells. move action. linger for 2 rounds. will save vs Bard DC. A bard is trained to use the Perform skill to create magical effects on those around him, including himself if desired. He can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + his Charisma modifier. At each level after 1st a bard can use bardic performance for 2 additional rounds per day. Each round, the bard can produce any one of the types of bardic performance that he has mastered, as indicated by his level. Starting a bardic performance is a standard action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a bardic performance from one effect to another requires the bard to stop the previous performance and start a new one as a standard action. A bardic performance cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the bard is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. A bard cannot have more than one bardic performance in effect at one time. At 7th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a move action instead of a standard action. At 13th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a swift action. Each bardic performance has audible components, visual components, or both. If a bardic performance has audible components, the targets must be able to hear the bard for the performance to have any effect, and such performances are language dependent. A deaf bard has a 20% change to fail when attempting to use a bardic performance with an audible component. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Deaf creatures are immune to bardic performances with audible components. If a bardic performance has a visual component, the targets must have line of sight to the bard for the performance to have any effect. A blind bard has a 50% chance to fail when attempting to use a bardic performance with a visual component. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Blind creatures are immune to bardic performances with visual components. Fascinate (Su): At 1st level, a bard can use his performance to cause one or more creatures to become fascinated with him. Each creature to be fascinated must be within 90 feet, able to see and hear the bard, and capable of paying attention to him. The bard must also be able to see the creatures affected. The Distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents the ability from working. For every three levels a bard has attained beyond 1st, he can target one additional creature with this ability. Each creature within range receives a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 the bard’s level + the bard’s Cha modifier) to negate the effect. If a creature’s saving throw succeeds, the bard cannot attempt to fascinate that creature again for 24 hours. If its saving throw fails, the creature sits quietly and observes the performance for as long as the bard continues to maintain it. While fascinated, a target takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat to the target allows the target to make a new saving throw against the effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a weapon at the target, automatically breaks the effect. Fascinate is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability. Fascinate relies on audible and visual components in order to function. Suggestion (Sp): A bard of 6th level or higher can use his performance to make a suggestion (as per the spell) to a creature that he has already fascinated (see above). Using this ability does not disrupt the fascinate effect, but it does require a standard action to activate (in addition to the free action to continue the fascinate effect). A bard can use this ability more than once against an individual creature during an individual performance. A Will saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 bard’s level + bard’s Cha modifier) negates the effect. This ability affects only a single creature (but see mass suggestion, below). Suggestion is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting, language-dependent ability and relies on audible components. Also she has Lingering Performance Feat The effects of your bardic performance carry on, even after you have stopped performing. Benefit: The bonuses and penalties from your bardic performance continue for 2 rounds after you cease performing. Any other requirement, such as range or specific conditions, must still be met for the effect to continue. If you begin a new bardic performance during this time, the effects of the previous performance immediately cease. ![]()

![]() As a point of etiquette... if I hadn't been able to post for 5 days, and when I returned I found other players had posted a plan in my absence, I wouldn't take actions to tromp all over their plans. It's ooc for me as a player. Even if I vehemently disagreed with the actions, I would find a way to stay in character and still respect the player who had acted before me. And a character note... Hali is a bard. 1001 variations on diplomacy is her whole shtick. How many non-undead humanoids are we going to come across where she might get to use the skills she excels at? (and no, she isn't going to seduce the count, -ew!- She's going to performance fascinate and performance suggestion to get the truth out of him.) 2 rounds/ 20 seconds. I humbly request that Hali and Adreris play their actions sequentially. Perhaps Adreris was speechless with rage for a few moments when Hali was being led back. ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() My understanding of the sequence of events was that Hali bluffed the "maitre d" *first*, the guards took her to the count. Then Adreris intimidated the 'maitre d', then guards went to inform the count, then the guards came back, then the guards let the rest of the group in. Hali had many standard rounds with the count before the group arrived. ![]()

![]() In her best breathless bimbo voice, Hali says I'm here for you, my lord. To remember the name of a noble who is friendly with the count...Knowledge Nobility 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 Lord X sent me as a gift to join you and your friend tonight. Bluff: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (16) + 22 = 38 Hali then begins a dance designed to fascinate the count. DC19 If the count is fascinated she will then give a suggestion DC19 that she and the party are friends and he should tell us everything he knows about the village's troubles. (the dance performance will linger for 3 rounds) ::Can you tell the group to give me half a minute to charm the count? If I succeed he should be willing to tell us the truth... but threats against him may break my spell.:: ![]()
Female Drow Bard 8/ Oracle of Wind 7
![]() Hali has already followed her earlier "escort" back to the counts room. @TikTik ::You'd best be paying attention, and not getting distracted by all the pretty "baubles." My message spells don't work behind closed doors.:: She gives him detailed directions back to the count's room. (Hopefully he updates her on what the others are up to.) Hoping to flank, if she can get behind the count when he comes out from his room.
