If we rest, I'll have a few of my offensive abilities back. But mostly I'm good at team support. And I agree with Lotus, there is still a lot we don't understand here. So far I think Tesh was a greater villain than the dragon, although I'm not inclined to give him any hostages besides the count.

Sorry I was away for a couple. RL kicked me for a bit. I *REALLY, REALLY, REALLY* wanted to ask the Dragon *WHY* he was mad at Tesh, and *WHY* he straffed the town in the first place, and *WHY* he kidnapped the soon-to-be-married couple (if in fact he did). Is there any chance at all of getting those questions in "before the dragon leaves?"

I don't know about 20 hostages, but I know of ONE in particular I'd be willing to part with -she points to the rapidly retreating Count-

Message to Thogg and the othersThogg, give me a moment to talk to the dragon if I can. There must be a reason for these sudden attacks. Let's see if we can find out if the stupid leaders provoked him somehow, before mighty Thogg sets about smashing this drake.

Hali will give herself (and all the others if they wish to Aid her-hint, hint-) a +3 to Diplomacy thru lingering song of competence. Then she will try to maneuver in front of the Dragon and address him.

Hali is torn between helping the still-staggered people within the temple, and helping Thogg confront the core of the problem.

Finally she decides. Lotus, I'm sorry. Do what you can for these people. The dragon is outside. They are usually extremely intelligent, and he may yet be reasoned with... if Thogg doesn't start using his own brand of diplomacy first.

With haste still up Hali double-moves toward the outside, and also re-grows her wings as a free action.

Because of the mighty Thogg's strength and boldness, Tesh did not have time to deliver his soliloquoy of evil... and tell us what he was up to. So let's just see if we can figure it out.

Didn't she cast Greater Dispel Magic in Round 1? It deactivated his spells, gave Thogg AoO. Then Tesh had his turn and reactivated everything. Lotus shouldn't have gone in Round 2 yet, cuz I think the only one who's gone for Round 2 is Kaz.

Just to make sure I'm keeping up. We scouted. We buffed. Thogg smashed the door. Round 1 actions. Clarification of Round 1 effects. Round 1 AoOs. Round 2 just started with Kaz taking his action. More clarifying of Round 1 and Lotus (who I thought cast Greater Dispel as her action). And Clarifying Round 1 AoO for TikTik. Am I following?

Targeted Dispel:
One object, creature, or spell is the target of the dispel magic spell. You make one dispel check (1d20 + your caster level) and compare that to the spell with highest caster level (DC = 11 + the spell's caster level). If successful, that spell ends. If not, compare the same result to the spell with the next highest caster level. Repeat this process until you have dispelled one spell affecting the target, or you have failed to dispel every spell.

I didn't see the creatures saves to my and Kaz's round 2 spells. It was minimal damage to be sure, but still its nice to know we're chipping away.

I am satisfied with the compromise, of starting the action and being interrupted. I love roleplaying and have no objection to it.

What I objected to was taking an action. Then having the GM roll responses to that action. Role-playing it with another character three times. And then 2 days later have somebody say, "none of that ever happened because I did this."

You are correct that I didn't confer with the group before deciding. In the privacy of my own mind I have been holding back posting actions, waiting for the group leaders to make some decisions before contributing. And then I get impatient because nobody's posting. And I like this game. And I really wanna PLAY! I would be really happy to confer more on strategy. Are the original members able to take more time to post and confer?

Bardic Perfomance Fascinate and Suggestion:

Bardic Performance
Hali has six other performance abilities, but I just included the pertinent ones here.

Short version: not spells. move action. linger for 2 rounds. will save vs Bard DC.

A bard is trained to use the Perform skill to create magical effects on those around him, including himself if desired. He can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + his Charisma modifier. At each level after 1st a bard can use bardic performance for 2 additional rounds per day. Each round, the bard can produce any one of the types of bardic performance that he has mastered, as indicated by his level.

Starting a bardic performance is a standard action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a bardic performance from one effect to another requires the bard to stop the previous performance and start a new one as a standard action. A bardic performance cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the bard is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. A bard cannot have more than one bardic performance in effect at one time.

At 7th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a move action instead of a standard action. At 13th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a swift action.

Each bardic performance has audible components, visual components, or both.

If a bardic performance has audible components, the targets must be able to hear the bard for the performance to have any effect, and such performances are language dependent. A deaf bard has a 20% change to fail when attempting to use a bardic performance with an audible component. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Deaf creatures are immune to bardic performances with audible components.

If a bardic performance has a visual component, the targets must have line of sight to the bard for the performance to have any effect. A blind bard has a 50% chance to fail when attempting to use a bardic performance with a visual component. If he fails this check, the attempt still counts against his daily limit. Blind creatures are immune to bardic performances with visual components.

Fascinate (Su): At 1st level, a bard can use his performance to cause one or more creatures to become fascinated with him. Each creature to be fascinated must be within 90 feet, able to see and hear the bard, and capable of paying attention to him. The bard must also be able to see the creatures affected. The Distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents the ability from working. For every three levels a bard has attained beyond 1st, he can target one additional creature with this ability.

Each creature within range receives a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 the bard’s level + the bard’s Cha modifier) to negate the effect. If a creature’s saving throw succeeds, the bard cannot attempt to fascinate that creature again for 24 hours. If its saving throw fails, the creature sits quietly and observes the performance for as long as the bard continues to maintain it. While fascinated, a target takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat to the target allows the target to make a new saving throw against the effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a weapon at the target, automatically breaks the effect.

Fascinate is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability. Fascinate relies on audible and visual components in order to function.

Suggestion (Sp): A bard of 6th level or higher can use his performance to make a suggestion (as per the spell) to a creature that he has already fascinated (see above). Using this ability does not disrupt the fascinate effect, but it does require a standard action to activate (in addition to the free action to continue the fascinate effect). A bard can use this ability more than once against an individual creature during an individual performance.

A Will saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 bard’s level + bard’s Cha modifier) negates the effect. This ability affects only a single creature (but see mass suggestion, below). Suggestion is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting, language-dependent ability and relies on audible components.

Also she has Lingering Performance Feat The effects of your bardic performance carry on, even after you have stopped performing.

Benefit: The bonuses and penalties from your bardic performance continue for 2 rounds after you cease performing. Any other requirement, such as range or specific conditions, must still be met for the effect to continue. If you begin a new bardic performance during this time, the effects of the previous performance immediately cease.

As a point of etiquette... if I hadn't been able to post for 5 days, and when I returned I found other players had posted a plan in my absence, I wouldn't take actions to tromp all over their plans. It's ooc for me as a player. Even if I vehemently disagreed with the actions, I would find a way to stay in character and still respect the player who had acted before me.

And a character note... Hali is a bard. 1001 variations on diplomacy is her whole shtick. How many non-undead humanoids are we going to come across where she might get to use the skills she excels at? (and no, she isn't going to seduce the count, -ew!- She's going to performance fascinate and performance suggestion to get the truth out of him.) 2 rounds/ 20 seconds.

I humbly request that Hali and Adreris play their actions sequentially. Perhaps Adreris was speechless with rage for a few moments when Hali was being led back.

My understanding of the sequence of events was that Hali bluffed the "maitre d" *first*, the guards took her to the count. Then Adreris intimidated the 'maitre d', then guards went to inform the count, then the guards came back, then the guards let the rest of the group in. Hali had many standard rounds with the count before the group arrived.

Hali then begins a dance designed to fascinate the count. DC19 If the count is fascinated she will then give a suggestion DC19 that she and the party are friends and he should tell us everything he knows about the village's troubles. (the dance performance will linger for 3 rounds)
