I guess I just have a request for the mods along these lines: When someone has posted something expressing an opinion in a terrible way that needs deletion, would you please add a few words to the effect of "several posts were deleted. This behavior will not be tolerated. BY THE WAY, the posters liked drawing a weapon as part of a move action". That way, people who are interested in seeing the balance is shifting between different ways of looking at playtest rules questions will not see a skewed result. ![]()

We're going to see a lot of people voicing their opinions very frequently and vocally throughout this playtest, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are actually part of a majority. I recommend that Paizo implement some way of taking a survey of the community in such a way that each of us only gets one vote. Or even each subscriber gets a vote - doesn't really matter to me. I just would like them to get some kind of feel for what we as a community think, rather than just hearing the most vocal 1%. (and if they choose to ignore some of that input, well, at least they are doing so from an informed position instead of a position of ignorance). ![]()
![]() Last night I dreamed book 3 came out. Took me awhile after I woke up to realize that it hadn't actually happened. It's tough for me to let go of this AP. I've been re-examining the Fungal Forest to find out why - the thing I find, well, perfect is the thing where he made entire communities into Factions, and scaled NPC reactions up into a reaction from the entire Xan species and Skis'raal species. I absolutely love that, and would like to apply it to whatever other communities PCs come across, no matter the setting. Has this species-in-a-location community-as-faction concept been explored in any other rpg product that you guys know of? ![]()
![]() I think they could, should, and will make such a galaxy map eventually, maybe a couple of years down the line. It'll look awesome. CupcakeNautilus wrote: The "two regions" would be a bunch of little one-star spots all over the galaxy for Near Space and everything else for the Vast. It wouldn't be a very pretty map. You're assuming that they'll be drawing it to be scientifically/astronomically accurate. Paizo doesn't seem to be all that good at that - look at all "maps" of the Golarion/Pact Worlds system. None of them have Triaxus drawn with anything close to its proper orbit. The line of its orbit should cut across inner planet orbit lines, from Castrovel on out. Instead, they drew a stylized chart with near-perfect circles for orbits - completely inaccurate and insufficient for any practical use, but ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. And that is what I think they'll do. A stylized known galaxy chart that makes perfect sense from a Starfinder gaming perspective, and absolutely no sense from a Traveller or astronomical perspective, but so beautiful that the most simulationist player will be happy to put it on their wall. ![]()
![]() Stay in a bathhouse instead of a hotel one night. It's cheaper, and you would be amazed at the variety of hot springs type pools to soak in. Sulfur, herbal tea, a column of water massaging your shoulders from 3 stories up, and 4 or 5 more that I can't remember anymore. FYI: Naked, you have a robe for outside the pool, and men and women are separate. ![]()

Their (very quick) response was to lock me out while not responding to the issue I was bringing to their attention. Only got it unlocked by changing my user name. We still share an account, and a user name, only now one of us is the first name, and one of us the middle name. We kind of need Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family spread out all over the world. Moral of the story: Don't write to Facebook customer service. ![]() I've lived overseas for 2 dozen years. Always did enjoy getting off a cross-country bus or train at the wrong stop, and then figuring out how to get home. It takes a few days. You end up meeting lots of nice people, eventually, trying interesting new food, and learning a bit of whatever the local language/dialect is out of necessity. You also get really good at sign language (need a bathroom, where is the train station, etc.) Have fun. The local experience is well worth doing, however you end up doing it. ![]()

That was fun! Makes Verces, Eox, Apostae, and Aucturn seem even more weird. Thanks again James Sutter! Used the orbit calculator here.

1. Distant worlds says that the G-Sun's mass is 300,000 times that of Golarion. 2. Wikipedia says our sun is 332,900 earth masses3. 300,000 divided by 332,900 is .9011715229, making the G-sun 90.1% of the mass of our sun, if Golarion is the same mass as earth. 4. Ergo, either Golarion masses more than Earth, or G-sun masses less than our sun. Interesting either way, and could affect all kinds of things such as star type, mean orbital distance, surface gravity, etc. Cap. Darling wrote: I think you May be over scienceing it here. Yes, of course I am. I thought it would be fun to chart out the Golarion solar system based on distance and orbital mechanics. Since the entry for Triaxus specifically states that all other planets behave according to normal scientific principles, it should be possible. So I started looking for confirmation of either the same gravity between Earth and Golarion, or different gravity between Earth and Golarion so I can solve the rest of the equation. Had trouble finding confirmation myself, so asked for help here. Why? For fun, of course :) So, anyone have any ideas? According to Fluff-as-written, yes can only be the answer to 1 of my 2 original questions, with no being the answer to the other one. Unless 300,000 was meant to be a rounding of 332,900? ![]()
![]() I try to take a middle road. I try to make most humanoids and monstrous humanoids as "human" as possible, in the sense of having their own communities, cultures, loves, and way of life (while keeping their non-human diversity and specialness of course). But they can still be slaughtered if the story or players require it, for perfectly good reasons that are built up when I see either moving in that direction. Crimes deserve retribution. Hitler and the nazis, Stalin, Genghis Khan and the Mongol Horde, colonialists, and so on are all human, but I think most of us would have few qualms at wiping them out if we were aware of their (current, increasing) atrocities in our own neighborhood. I do leave out non-combatants and children when a settlement of a monstrous race has built up a deservedly bad reputation. I include them when they have not built up that reputation. Hand-waving on my part, granted, but when killing bad guys is the fun that is happening right now, not too many people in my experience want to discover that the "big bad" just happens to also be a loving husband and father to helpless infants. ![]()

That was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Of course the reality is I'd smuggle aboard a mini or micro sd card or 10, containing all the ebooks, movies, and gaming pdfs that would fit. Edit: Just noticed people are doing TV shows too.....so my number 11 would be Doctor Who. ![]()

![]() Hot to other dwarves or hot to humans, elves or halflings? Sweet is what comes to mind for me. A woman that would work along side you, fight along side you, drink you under the table, and still have a smile for you at the end of the day. Probably also an awesome cook, as I tend to think of dwarves as being very traditional in some ways. Might good-naturedly arm-wrestle you to determine who wins a disagreement instead of arguing about it. Also the last line of defense for the clan, fighting to their last breath against deadly invaders. Not sure if this answers your question or not, but this is what I picture an awesome dwarf woman to be like. ![]()
![]() Throne of Night. A mushroom jungle cavern, home to myceloids, intelligent spiders, fungus wolves, albino pteranadon and a few other fungus creatures. Subject to mushroom spore "weather". All of these are on the original encounter table for the cavern. The lake I described is in the middle of the cavern, but isn't really fleshed out except for it's shore, and a couple of deeper locations - an island and a sunken ship. The wider adventure path is twofold: the party is assumed to be either dwarven explorers looking for their glorious long-lost city, or drow looking to make a name for themselves. Either way, the PCs are kingdom building among the various peoples they are befriending/conquering. Been tweaking it for awhile now, deleting a couple passageways that allow PCs to bypass interesting places, and expanding other areas. I realized that the lake in the fungal wonderland cavern was enormous, and pretty much glossed over. Thinking of adding one or two dozen Austorian Dwarves, and maybe some Echinn and cave jellies. Been looking especially for aquatic plants and animals and monsters that would fit the wild fungal theme of the cavern, but so far haven't found much. CS only has one fungal creature, a kind of aquatic Mi-go. Doesn't seem a good fit. So I guess trying to at least come up with a cave template, something like what they have at the beginning of Azure Abyss in which they describe how the standard CS races are different in the depths of the ocean. Then could decide where to apply that on the underground fungal wonderland lake fishies and monsters, many of which would also somehow make fungal, based on the fungal wolf example. Still also looking for aquatic fungal creatures for comparison, but little luck so far. ![]()
![]() I'd also love to see Arcadia, and any other continents that might be in the pipeline. Not really concerned about finding people that look like me culturally or ethnically - I'm so different from 99.9% of the people where I live that conversations stop every day so people can stare and speculate about me instead, so value a wide range of ethnicities and cultures more than being represented, per se. Would love to see more of the variety of the human species represented in-game. ![]()

![]() I wanted to see what Pathfinder money would feel like in the hand in real life, so I researched and went and got one. Only a copper piece, unfortunately. Silver, Gold, and Platinum are a bit beyond my budget. I started with the standard weight of 50 per pound. This comes out to 9.0718474 grams. I looked for some rarer coins (there is notably a couple India coins that weigh 9.07 grams) Research started on Wikipedia and ended up in the 2013 standard catelogue of world coins. The closest coin I could find at the local coin collectors shop weighed in at 9.000 grams, was 92% copper, 6% aluminum, and 2% nickel - close to perfect for 1 cp. 9.000 grams is 99.2% of the target weight - a pound of them would be 50.4 coins - so close as to make little difference. Even better, it is a common coin - some of you might even have some in your pockets right now. The Australian 1 dollar coin, an almost perfect fit for a physical Copper Piece. I bought one, and its nice to have around to give a feel for transactions. All values of coins are the same weight, just different sizes. A Silver Piece would be only slightly smaller. Gold and Platinum pieces could be the same diameter and half the thickness. ![]()
