Genosuke quietly observes his cubs playing, with a smile on his snout. Turns out he didn't need the exercise so much as he needed to watch his family have fun, letting all of the evil of the past month or so drain away. ::This simple thing, joy, is truly the enemy of darkness.::, he thinks to himself.
The old fox watches the spectacle, chuckling to himself from a tree branch he's flown up to.
Alys laughs a grinning, fox laugh then pounces on Genosuke, tumbling him over and running headlong after Keme. She will hear growl yipping in very close pursuit behind her.
Keme leaped up, grabbed the book, and dashed away across the lawn, with a few wobbles because the book was technically a bit large for him to keep hold of in this form. Going along with Keme's game, Genosuke conjures 2 identical images to Keme with the book that go running off in other directions.
The white fox sits and watches the interaction.
Alys nods emphatically in agreement, a grin spreading across her face at the thought of indulging the fox within her. "Good. Shall we?" He takes his fox form, but hides 8 of his tails. He nips Alys on the ankle, and dashes out of the cafeteria towards the door to the gardens.
Nods. "Alys, will you be joining us?"
"Yes, it is quite different from our normal ways, but, learning how other beings in the vastness of creation live can only enrich us." He pauses, looking imperious for a second."Well, that should count toward my 'sanctimonious phrase' quota for today. Truthfully, I felt like heading out into the garden, and running around for a bit. I've not had much time for some old fashion fox time. 'Frolic' is such a juvenile word, but it fits the best. I came to see if you two would like to join in. I need to let loose for a bit. Perhaps some of your youthful exuberance will rub off, I could use the recharge." As he says the last bit, he actually looks kind of haggard, well, for him.
"Someone once told me speaking of your ancestors draws their eye." Their patriarch says with some mirth, as he approaches them."How are you both, this morning?"
Treisdan bows to Genosuke and starts to leave, then stops for a moment and looks to Reviarti and the Leonal and tilts his head, motioning that he wanted them to come with him if they aren't preoccupied... He returns his bow with a nod, and proceeds to work.
"The answers are never easy. Though, I do not think you are beyond repair. A soul, after all, is only energy...life. You will need to find the appropriate energy to replace what you've lost. Find a focus to drive you. And above all else, once you're fixed, stop binding. Or at least, find a better way to do it. Don't invite them in." "Now, if you please, I wish to use what I have left of my off period to prepare for my next class." the tone of dismissal is plain as day, as he returns his books and scrolls to where they were, and then sits behind his desk.
He chuckles
"However, if your soul is torn to the point of needing another to make up the difference, then perhaps you are truly without another option. I would advise you try to find a fix, though."
Raises an eyebrow.
"Good. I would normally take a moment and lecture you about your habits, but I know it would fall on deaf ears. Instead, I will encourage you to use the strength Eligor has given you to...correct...yourself, while you are still able. Reviarti, I thank you and your companion for your assistance. We may have lost Mr. Achdarach sooner than expected otherwise."
"Fascinating." "I trust you feel better, Mr. Achdarach?"
Genosuke, watches but says nothing.
He boggles for a moment "Yes, please stand 25' feet back or so, if you please. Magnificent..." he mutters before going back to work.
He hands the scroll to the unseen servant, who holds it out, so that Genosuke can recreate it on the open part of the floor. "Yes, interesting, but at a price. A price his very soul is paying at the moment. I believe he intends to use this other being to strengthen himself for a time, to stave off the damage being done. It may not be a wise choice, but I'm afraid he may have left himself with little other option. Now, if you wish to help, try to keep him conscious, and aware, if you can. He must invoke the creature to bind it, after he is called. If he can be called." He sets about the task of scribing out the summoning and binding circles.
"Mr. Achdarach has chosen a very dangerous hobby, Reviarti. It involves binding powerful souls of other beings to himself." he says whilst looking through shelves for a certain tome, which he finds, and a scroll, written on dragonhide. He sets the tome down on a pulpit, and unrolls the scroll for Reviarti to see. It depicts the circles and symbols very close to what Tresidan asked him to draw. "Is this what he asked you to draw, or similar?"
"I see..." He ponders something for a second or two, then shakes his head. "Please, follow me and bring Mr. Achdarach along." He walks in silence till you reach his classroom. All manner of glyphs and symbols adorn the room's walls, ceilings, and floors, in key positions, with a large patch of the floor up front blank of such things. He sweeps his hand absently, and an unseen servant hastily clears off his large cherrywood desk. "You may rest Mr. Achdarach there."
"Was it in relation to his current condition? Can you describe this ritual?"
"No, it's not taboo, per se. If I may ask, in what context was the name mentioned?"
He nods, and sees Tresidan. "Why am I not suprised to see him in this state. Is he the reason you've heard this name?"
"What name did you speak, student?" a voice says from the door way to the infirmary.
I'm working on an idea...but it will probably only work once, and I have a very specific target in mind.
This school seems to have a lot of philosophy teachers...
"The beings that run the school here know all about appearances, ignorance and misguided fear. We on the staff try to encourage students not to be ashamed of what they are. One of the things you will learn here most of all is not judging a book by its cover."Alys bows deeply to Genosuke, "I will do my best, Uncle. If you will excuse me? I must find my rooms and get to my next class. I think I will like learning here." That last is said in a slightly wondering tone. "You will be fine. Just look for myself or your cousin if you need anything. And do not stray too far from the school, please, without one of us or another staff member. Now, go explore." he says with a smile, and a ruffle of her hair. He'll also show her how the arrows work, if he hasn't already.

Alys smils shyly at Keme, having never met him before. When Genosuke changes form, Alys grins broadly and follows his example, speaking in the same manner that he has, "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Cousin." She then turns her attention to Genosuke, "My telepathy seems to have the same difficulty as writing, only moreso. It is not reliable, and most people find the effect when it is not cooperative to be fairly unnerving. I do not know if these devices .. daddapuds? .. will work. No magic that has yet been tried has any effect. I hope it will." "I see. Well, luckily for us, datapads are not magical."
Shifts to humanoid fox form, and uses body language and yips and such to communicate... "That is a good idea Keme. I believe one of those devices is provided to each new student, they just need to be requisitioned. Alys, you speaking aloud has a very tangible effect. Does your telepathy not work either?"
If you lower yourself to human designations of things they don't understand, yes.
Bows slightly higher than Alys, then smiles and takes her up in a hug. "You've grown, pup! It's good to see you." He steps back, and motions to Keme "Alys, this is your cousin Keme."
::This is for three weeks from now. If we still haven't caught this guy by then...that's 21 more casualties before this happens. At the least it would be moved inside. But there's no way that I can believe we won't have caught him before then.:: ::Indeed.::
Witnessing the impromptu performance, the old fox facepalms and rubs the bridge of his nose.
Takes one of the nearby posters down and reads it, then hands it to Keme. ::Having some more students out away from the school and the wards sounds like a fantastic idea.::
::Hmmm. Well, lets make sure little Alys is aware of the danger, in the mean time.::
"Slowly. I haven't been able to track this guy at all. He has some method of concealing even his scent. So I'm reduced to staking out the infirmary waiting for the next victim to be brought in and hoping that we'll get one more clue. So far it's been one victim per day. If it goes on much longer word is going to get out among the students and there's going to be a panic."Shows up outside the headmaster's office, waiting for his niece."Hey, gramps. Thought you said she was here? I don't see her. Although there does seem to be an awful ruckus in the office today," he said nonchalantly as he showed up. Switches to telepathy ::If the children are being lured away from the wards, why not watch the exits? Are they not monitored by the dragon's security systems?::
Shows up outside the headmaster's office, waiting for his niece."Hey, gramps. Thought you said she was here? I don't see her. Although there does seem to be an awful ruckus in the office today," he said nonchalantly as he showed up. "Yes, I assume she is inside, I received a letter from her on arrival. Professor De Sol seems to have the ruckus well in hand." he subtly motions to the other kitsune there. "He may need some guidance too, if he keeps with that lot." then he chuckles. "It is good to see you, boy. How goes the hunt?"
Shows up outside the headmaster's office, waiting for his niece.
He smiles as he reads the letter, and tucks it into his sleeve. He summons a small bird, whispers to it, and it flys off to his grandson. It lands on his shoulder and he hears in his grandfather's voice "Your cousin is here. I will wait for her outside of the headmaster's office, if you wish to join me."Then, he heads in that direction.
That's fine. Not all kitsune are divinely imbued ;) You would find the same support amonst the other kitsune as we would give each other.

Which one?
One does not willingly divulge weakness, pup. I will simply say, it is quite difficult for one to live as long as I have while being susceptible to diseases, magical or otherwise.

Brings two sets of Imperial Tribune newspapers to the teacher's lounge. He lays one down on a side table, and takes the other with him. He prepares himself some tea, and reads while he sips.
"You are most welcome. And thank you. I shall leave you to your day." He bows, and heads back to his room.
"You do remember that I'm younger than I look, right Gramps? The last time you thought a cousin was younger than me they turned out to be ten years older," he said with a shrug. "But whatever. I'll try to keep an eye on Alys."He finally looked down at the letter. "Alys? Wait, which one is she? There's so many cousins I lose track. Is she one of the older cousins? Or the younger cousins? ......aaaand I'm guessing knowing that there's a psycho running around the school doesn't make you feel a lot better about... "Yes, well. I am keenly aware that your tails do not correlate with the wisdom that comes with them." He says with a smirk. He puts his hand on his shoulder in a very familiar way. Seems almost a breech of etiquette for the old fox. "I know you have been through more in your life than most that have a tail or two more than you, son. I respect the man that you're becoming. That is why I've asked you for help in this matter. I'm not putting this responsibility on you. I'm sharing it with you. I h..., err, trust you can see the difference?" |
