~ Admissions Room ~

The room had gone from new people sauntering in, to shouting shadowy girl, instant darkness and an odd silence.

Iolth's actions and words break the darkness and silence, and the there's more talking and Sorchan's inquires.

For those that were paying attention, most likely the intimidating Shoshin, it appears that none of the odd displays warranted panic or fear in the others in the room, especially not in the Tall Thin Guy, who openly scoffs at the intimidation attempt.

He goes to speak, but Sorchan cuts him off, who he seems to take in mind letting the matter drop.

It should be very clear to Shoshin that Tall Thin Guy is utterly dismissive of what was said to him, threat or not. He smugly just ignores the fox man in as insulting and insinuating of an insult manner as possible, with mocking. He is QUITE good at that.

Sven Brightblade walks over to the haughty one and brings some papers with him, saying openly so any can hear, "As I offered to the Lady," indicating Lily, "before our travel here, Lord, perhaps I might assist you with more than empty words of unity by lending my hand to fill these forms on your behalf. This will maintain your honor, and prove you are not alone in these strange halls to be beset upon by beasts and uncouth strangers who join any conversation without being welcomed into such."

Tall Thin Guy says, "Splendid, Brightblade, was it? I accept your assistance and will return the favor as is appropriate and our way."

With a nod, they hurriedly sort out the papers to turn in to Sorchan. Sorchan would note when Sven provides his and the Tall Thin Guy's, he gives Sorchan an appropriate to his standing, presentation and "My Lord, as per your request. I will provide escort, while we learn more of this school, in recognition of your family's House, and offer provided us."

Ulna provides her papers to the Elf, looking him over curiously as she does, with a smile.

The Ash Haired Youth hasn't really changed his stance or view, still staring off. Sven gives him a glance again near Sorchan, a hint of concern on his face.

It's your reputation which we'll either keep mum on, Vegas and all that, or it might get out if someone drinks too much off school grounds and blabs. Until then, you'll always be the first red skinned, horn shorn, gun packing, living comic book character to me, big boy. Fits your MO so far as I could tell, wasn't a huge fan over all, but that's me. I keep my fandom to the ladies."

More and more 'cultists' are being added as files to the desktop, or various other locations on the holographic computer 'screens'.

At one point though, he asks, "So, what's ...uh, screen two, visual of what I can see, going on here?"

On Screen Two, there's a bird's eye view of a large chamber, from above so only the floor can really be seen, with four robed figures, each in a 'summoning circle' and rituals en mass, being conducted. Various other robed folk are kneeling outside the circles. There's no sound.

Anyone with Knowledge(Arcane) would recognize the work, while Knowledge(Planes) would tell them, easily, that the names and branding are for various high tier demons-- nothing devil, wrong outsider type.

Casseus, seeing as you're the only KS: Arcane and/or Planar, I suspect, make a roll for both and I'll give you some details on who's who and how far into the spell it's gotten.

PS: It's been roughly 15 minutes since Tryko'Sam showed up in the garden, please advise if otherwise per your 'clocks'.

"Umm. They're summuning a "big bad". Not just like the ones that followed you here Sam, but Big. Bad. Err 4 of 'em. They're using 4 gate spells. they're just gonna open a gate straight to the Abyss. Archena, in response to his response to her response to his response to her response to his whining, simply opens her mouth slightly and brings her eyebrows down in the middle. The expression one gives when confronted with what seems to be unbridled, unrivaled, stupidity. The look that is the only option to use in these situations. When words fail, and one cannot explain how demonstrably lacking in tact or even simple logic the response of the other party was. After this look she simply shakes her head slightly returning back to her nearly finished paper work.
We're all, I like to believe, smart people. You know the look. You've given the look.
When she sets pen to paper her cousin immediately begins to yell. In the few seconds of darkness she sighs and drops her head to the table. She just wants to fill out the forms...
When they return, she lifts her head back again to see Lolth absorb the darkness. She raises her eyebrows, impressed at his ability.
Scorch an calls for forms.
"Just one last thing. Lots of interruptions. Aaaand there."
She gives her forms to the kind elf. With a soft smile and "thank you."
She obtains a cup full of small burnt objects to eat on the tour.
"Ready to go."
She approaches the Niyambi's, ready to be put to the tour.
"Hi. Care to walk together? You seem to actually be OK. And clever."
She looks at Taika when she adds the last bit.

"I certainly hope not," he said cordially with a relatively friendly smile. "Excuse me, please. I have a question for a couple of your fellow students and the sooner I get those answered the sooner we can all go take that tour of the school."

First he presented the tall thin snobbish fellow with a blank sheet of paper. "Please write your name and one sentence of your choosing. It can be your family motto if you wish. It must be written by yourself with your own hand. This is an academic test required for your class placement. If you are unable to write then you will have to take remedial classes in order to learn. It is an important skill to have. Someday you may have a secret you wish to keep after all," he said, smoothly, providing a face-saving option that would allow the fellow to write for himself without looking overly foolish. Not that he deserved it after the things he had said, but he reminded himself...again...that the best way to get through to these children was with kindness not with strangling them.

Then he turned to Mr. Quillblood. "Has the dark haired one turned in his papers yet?"

Vis will automatically be sent to the elementary school because of his age, but the forms asked questions about subjects of interest and if he has a subject he is particularly advanced in, there is an afternoon slot in which some of the elementary students are allowed to take high school classes. So just assume he was able to answer as needed for that slot.

"I like that song. Maybe if he doesn't hate me after this, we could play it for him."
He takes a bite and sighs.
"It's just so hard to be this close to him. I feel warm when I make him happy. It's just a small little bit, but when he smiles, I don't feel so cold. And when he's sad it's just back so much more. I actually feel hurt when I see him this sad and there's nothing I can do about it. It makes me actually feel colder. The bad kind, like before I got used to it. I mean, this thing helps, but I just want so bad to be warm again. And I know this sounds selfish, like I only want him to be happy to make the cold go away, but that's not true. I don't make him happy to make the cold go away. I think the cold goes away because I love to make him happy. But... I just try too hard. I want to help him so much and I just don't know where is too far. Maybe this time... if he wants me back, I should just wait for him to reach to me. But then if I do that, he might think that I've abandoned him too and... I can't let that happen. But I think this might be the only way to know if he still cares for me. If I just run back to him he might decide that he's just had enough of me..."

Female [Classified] Bard 16 / [classified] 16

Mel just shakes her head. Tybs, your not listening. You are not abandoning him, you are right there. you need to be there every time he needs a helping hand, just your presence is enough.

the warmth you want doesn't come from him, it comes from you, from the comfort in knowing that you are there when he needs you, the warmth of the feeling you get, knowing he is gonna be alright, because of you.

True love comes without conditions, without restrictions and without the need of reward.

Mel tries to get Tybs to focus, Kai broke up with me, but, I still love him, I will still be there when he needs me. I won't forget him. But I love him in a different way now, a way that I now will learn to live with. but I haven't given up on him.

Not that he deserved it after the things he had said, but he reminded himself...again...that the best way to get through to these children was with kindness not with strangling them.

The Tall Thin Guy gives Sorchan a polite bow, any permanent sneer that he has skillfully etched onto his features fades away, equally skillful.

"If the Honorable Scion of House del Sol wishes for me to demonstrate my penmanship, who am I to deny the opportunity to do just that-- at the risk of being called ...remedial, you say? Those of noble birth are taught these things, especially the holding and use of calligraphy, I presume... or is that not the case in all Houses?"

He takes the paper with another bow, and finds a surface to put it atop, stepping back to look at it.

"A phrase, you say? How about ..."

With that, he does a gesture or two, and a flame conjures in his hand, animating. With a deft flick of his fingers and wrist, the flame spins into life and becomes a female figure, leaping off onto the paper and beginning to write out phrases.

Clearly, he moves and the flame responds, though it is not magic-- perhaps his innate mastery of the flame. What he writes via his flaming figuring, burning it onto the surface of the paper, is a phrase that simply reads, "The Flame shall cleanse, the Flame shall heal, only the Truth and Way is known to It, and we, born of such, shall ascend by It."

Once done, the little female figure bows, and leaps back to his finger tip, where it vanishes.

He smiles somewhat proudly at the demonstration, and then asks, "Unless you'd prefer a pen, Lord del Soul? I assure you, there is nothing remedial about myself. I will prove this, in time." There is clearly passion in his last phrase, and pride-- lots of it. He lets it play into the room for a moment, before offering the paper to Sorchan.

Sorchan del Sol wrote:

The Ash Haired Youth moves to match the approaching Sorchan, keeping distance and there is a wildness to his eyes that Sorchan would immediately recognize as fear. The Ash Haired Youth did not want to be touched and is now defensive and focused on Sorchan.

I'm just so stupid and I look like a freaking twelve year old and I freeze everything! I shouldn't have even stopped here. He'd be better off if I had never even met him anyways. All I do is make his life harder. And Mel too. I can't even help her with her problems because I'm too busy screwing everything up for Dave. They'd both be better off if I just wasn't here. Everyone would be..."
He starts to sob with his face buried in the pillow.

Various students, before classes, obviously, or just walking on their way to class past Genosuke as he came up to the poster were talking happily about the battle of the bands potential, and speaking of how cool it was in the past.

"...awesome, wonder who'll show up?!"
"...hope that blue skinned guy does, he's so gorgeous."
"...oh, puh-lease, that's too freaky, seriously?"

And so on.

With all the bickering between the other firebirds and having the large group of people around her, Cindra has fallen back into her habit of trying to be unnoticed. She is remarkably good at it, and despite being very pretty, is largely ignored by the group of new students.

Having finished her paperwork quickly, Cindra sits quietly waiting for the next event.

Artha Cid arises as the world is dark. The air is cold, the trees are bare, and the ground: dusty and dry. He groggily clears his eyes of dust as he sits down upon a large crytal to meditate. As he hums, motionless, the crystal begins to levitate and the world starts to brighten. The trees grow leaves and bloom magnificent flowers. Vibrant grass sprouts around him and a slight breeze picks the smell of spring through the air. Sunlight shines warmly and small birds and animals begin chirping and chatting throughout the foliage.

Artha clears his mind and stops humming. The breeze stops. He focuses his thoughts and sends out a message.

Hello students, this is your new Heavy Blades professor, Artha Cid. Today's introductory class will begin shortly, although I am running a bit late. I have already spoken to some who have expressed interest and look forward to seeing them.

If you have any interest in the art of combat, feel free to visit my class today. Remember to bring a weapon, (any weapon, regardless of size) although the styles and techniques I teach will be focused exclusively on Heavy Blades.

I apologize for the telepathic interruption and thank you for your time. See you soon.

Artha opens his eyes and scans the room. His long sword catches his eye and he has a moment of remembrance.

Students, I'm sorry, one more thing. Wear armor.

Alys, having followed the large group of newcomers to the inprocessing assembly, is still working on her papers. She raises her hand when Sorchan asks if anyone is still working, and the two large stacks of papers on her desk partially obscure her.

Will save (DC 20): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29.

With a sigh of relief she picks up the papers she had been working on, sets them in a much smaller stack between the larger stacks of papers, and reaches for another from the left hand pile. It seems she is about halfway done with the paperwork. The stack of papers on the right are clearly attempts to fill out various forms, and the stack on the left is a pile of blank forms. The stack of rejects all have variations on the same mistakes: there are parts written in common, and at different points in mid word, the common language is replaces by writing in a language which is indecipherable even to those with a magical ability to read all languages. Shortly after each point where the writing changes, the form has been discarded.

Knowledge: Arcana (DC 35):
Some of the obscure writing is reminiscent of the words of power that some spellcasters are able to use, but none of the so-called words of power are written here.

105 - 6 = 99HP left

The detonations of the gunman and the wights are easily dodged, though he cannot fully escape the gore, entrails, and the heat of the explosions.

once more wiping the slime of death off of his face, Renkai focuses on the remaining wight.

1d20 + 14 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 14 + 7 = 271d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

1d20 + 9 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 7 = 311d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
1d20 + 9 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 7 = 221d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 4 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 7 = 271d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 4 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 7 = 271d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The putrid and rotting corpse is hammered from ten feet away by the flail and kama. Renkai's eyes are locked onto the pinpoints of red inside of its decayed sockets. The masterfully crafted weapon slams and slices into the undead with horrifying ease. Renkai then prepares to retreat from the predictable explosion.

When he gets the notice, Iolth jumps up and down with excitement-or rather, he teleports up and down with excitement. Shooting a wicked grin at Shoshin, he says "Check this out." A beautiful young woman with mahogany skin appears in a flash of light, an electic guitar and bass appear in their hands, and they start playing this song:

"There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw"

Perform (All: averaged): 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (17) + 31 = 48

Iolth and Kaetar dance energetically all throughout, light and nimble on their feet. Their voices sing beautifully, intertwining like two birds in a mating dance, and their fingers are a masteful blur on the strings.

When they finish, Iolth has sweat on his brow. He bumps fists with the girl, then turns toward Shoshin. "How did you like it? Oh, this is my girlfriend, Kaetar. She's normally a deck of cards. It's a long story." Iolth has a wild smile on his face.
