![]() "Look, everyone. Let's not let something as mundane as details get in the way." Galessa said. "This isn't our first rodeo." "Let's buy a carriage." "It's just a hundred gold. It will fit all of us, and we can take turns to drive it." She looked around and said "Then we spend a hundred fifty gold on two horses to pull it." With a smile she added "We take turns sitting in comfort as we go. The carriage will carry any supplies we need. We get there, kill some giants, and use it to ride home. Easy, right? And it won't cost us too much either." ![]()

![]() Galessa did not even bother to negotiate or to look at the map. With a grin she surged to her feet and said ”Yes!” While pumping her fist in the air. ”We are going to rescue the arrows, slay the giants, and then we will drink to our success!” She announced enthusiastically. ![]()

![]() Galessa shook her head at the talk of payment. They were missing the important questions. Such as when they could leave. She felt excitement bubble up inside of her. ”This is odd, is it not?” She said, unable to hold back. ”These are experienced giant hunters. No ordinary militia. One would expect their troubles to be related to giants, but giants are not known for their stealth. I can’t help but wonder what could have happened over there, or what we will find.” She said, a smile creeping onto her face. ![]()

![]() Galessa listened to the other talk. She was a large woman, being both muscular and standing over six feet tall. What stood out most, though, was the scales that were visible on the outside of her arms and hands. To a casual observer they appeared to be but intricate tattoos. It was only on closer inspection that their true nature would be seen. It would have been possible to call her beautiful, given her features…if it was not for how intimidating her stature was. ”I was worried that we were being called here because imminent violence was required.” She said, her voice was warm and jovial. When she talked it became clear that her teeth were all sharp. Any beauty she had was a savage one. ”But I do hope that the mayor requires singing, tattooing and brewing. As for myself? My name is Galessa. I am an amateur historian.” She let it hang there for a moment, knowing how she didn’t look the part. As much as she would have loved to publish a book, she knew how little respect the academic community had for people like her. In truth, her studies and wandering mostly had to do with her own passion for the subject. ”Though I am better known as a Paladin of Iomodae, and her servant Peace Through Vigilance. I fear that our Dwarven friend is right.” She nodded at him with familiarity, as she had spent more than her fair share of gold at Bottled Solutions. Her drinks were a vice of hers which she reasoned that her goddess would understand, so long as it was not done to excess. ”Our gathering here most likely means that there is a problem that the local forces cannot address, due to either practical or political concerns.” ![]()
![]() Many many thanks to Giant Halfling. He looked over my build, and there are sadly some RAW problems which I just can't figure out. It pretty much scraps the build...which really sucks. For anyone who cares: Dropped Enlightened Paladin (4) Sorcerer (1) and replaced it with: Scaled Fist Unchained Monk (1) Virtuous Bravo Paladin (3) Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer (1) Dragon Disciple (2) Background is still the same. Stats are pretty much the same. Playstyle will be more or less the same. But it should actually be legal now. ![]()
![]() Giant Halfling wrote: If you're married to the tempered champion archetype, you'd have to go for a natural attack build which could be pretty effective, but it'd be weird to take weapon specialization [bite] before you actually gain a bite attack. You'd almost have to go with a half-orc with the toothy alternate racial trait (although, a dragon-worshiping half-orc paladin does sound kind of badass to me). Yup…sad that is the case. Dropped the archetype, which isn’t the end of the world. At the very least it means getting a Paladin spell. And keep watch is quite nice to have. ![]()
![]() Fixed! And made some changes that should strengthen the theme. Fixes: (1) No more shield. No more shield feats. Went into an Iomedae feat chain instead.
So overall? Fixed the issue and tightened the build up to stay much more focused thematically. ![]()

She should be a pretty good tank. High AC and good saves. For DPS though, she has STR 20, but only has BaB 5. I'm still playing around with the build, but it is about right for now. Background, Appearance: Galessa is a native of Sandpoint, born and raised in the town. Her family had fled to the city from Cheliax when House Thrune defeated King Gaspodar and took control of the Empire. Her family had been loyalists to the throne. Moreso, they had been devout followers of Aroden, and after his vanishing, Iomodae. When their native country fell into the worship of Devils, with the Church of Asmodeus becoming the official state religion, the family knew that they had to leave. Sandpoint proved to be a safe haven. As the 'Light of the Lost Coast', the town was nearly evenly divided between those of both Varisian and Chelaxian descent. It was a quiet place to raise a family and to worship one's faith in peace. And it was there that Gaelessa grew up, raised on tales of her family's history, lost glory and forlorn heroism. She is but one of many in her house who has walked the path of Iomodae. Of Galessa, she is quite notably marked as having more than a trace of dragon blood, something not altogether uncommon in her family. When a child is born with bronze colored eyes, such as Gaelssa, and displays some sorcerous power, it is explained as being a blessing from Peace Through Vigilance a draconic servant of their goddess. Whether there is any truth to this is anyone's guess. In this, she has proven to be a true heir of her house. From her bronze eyes, sharp features, intimidating size and budding sorcerous powers, her very being is proof that she is blessed by Peace Through Vigilance. In an attempt to fulfill her desire to live up to these tales, she first joined the Sandpoint Militia, and then took a full time position at the Sandpoint Garrison under Sheriff Belor Hemlock. It was only when the recent trauma facing Sandpoint erupted that she put in his resignation, so that he could follow the trail out of town as needed. Appearance and Personality Galessa would be, in the eyes of most, quite attractive. That is, if she were not so intimidating. Standing over six feet tall, and being far more muscular than most men who would consider themselves to be large, it is easy to see why many would feel wary around her. But she has never let stares or rude comments get her down. She is convinced that she walks the path of her Goddess and that it is her duty and birthright to live up to those ideals. While not an ordained paladin, she is nonetheless a holy warrior, and is always hoping to have the opportunity to live up to the ideas of the Inheritor. While her life is, of course, dedicated to her goddess, Galessa's personal passion is in studying history. This began with fascination with her own family's history, and her efforts to trace it back as far as she could, and spiraled from there into a love of learning in general. Especially into ancient Thassilon and lost empires in general. Given her size and personality, it would be easy to dismiss her as a 'dumb fighter' or a 'meat shield.' And while she could easily fit that role, she would be the first to say that judging a person by their looks does a disservice to all. ![]()

![]() Wayfinder and Cracked Dusty Rose Prisms Stone: 1d100 ⇒ 69 Gives feat defensive combat training and +1 Initiative 1000 gold exact —- Wand of CLW or the shirt are both great buys. I’d go with a wand with a masterwork buckler. 0 ACP, +1 AC, hands free. That gives you more than any other option, and it can be easily enchanted. The mithril shirt is less needed as you’re Dex16 doesn’t make use of it. Long term you May want to save for a Comfort Mithril Breastplate. Or a mithril breastplate with extra traits for armor expert. 0 ACP means no penalties for wearing it, and Max Dex of +5 is something you won’t hit for awhile later. Plus it is cheaper than a +2 Mithril Chain Shirt. ![]()

![]() For when we ding: Lvl 2 Oracle:
Inspiration (Ex) At 2nd level, a psychic searcher gains an inspiration pool, as the investigator class ability. A psychic searcher uses her oracle level as her investigator level to determine the effects of this ability. She gains free uses of inspiration on Diplomacy, Knowledge (arcana, history, local, nobility, planes, religion), and Sense Motive skill checks without spending a use of inspiration, provided she’s trained in that skill. A psychic searcher’s inspiration pool refreshes each day, usually when she refreshes her spells. A psychic searcher’s inspiration pool is based on her Charisma modifier, not her Intelligence modifier. An investigator has the ability to augment skill checks and ability checks through her brilliant inspiration. The investigator has an inspiration pool equal to 1/2 her investigator level + her Cha modifier (minimum 1). An investigator’s inspiration pool refreshes each day, typically after she gets a restful night’s sleep. As a free action, she can expend one use of inspiration from her pool to add 1d6 to the result of that check, including any on which he takes 10 or 20. This choice is made after the check is rolled and before the results are revealed. An investigator can only use inspiration once per check or roll. Inspiration can also be used on attack rolls and saving throws, at the cost of expending two uses of inspiration each time from the investigator’s pool. In the case of saving throws, using inspiration is an immediate action rather than a free action. ![]()
