The Slithering Maps
![]() Recent Politics:
The city of Kibwe in the Mwangi Expanse has recently seen a surge in both population and attention. As a well-fortified waystation for traders with huge, ancient granite walls, it is both safe and prosperous. The Representative Council that rules the city works to balance its fractious factions while preserving the open trade that brings in wealth from the Mwangi Expanse and greater Garund alike. But unease in the city of Usaro has sent many hundreds of refugees to seek shelter behind Kibwe’s walls, and the council’s recent ban on buying and selling slaves doesn’t sit well with its established slave traders. The greatest threat to Kibwe, however, might be an organization that’s been present in the city for many years
In the central market of Adayenki Pavilion, in the heart of Kibwe, our collective of misfits are nearby. Arkon the Liberator is currently watching a street game of dice going on with many enthusiastic worksmen and laborers excitedly exchanging money with peddlers. Clynter, dressed in deep robes to hide his less than living appearance, also resides nearby watching for easy marks to leave the little gambling ring. Anyone who appears to have been taking their earnings and drinking in earnest. Kazavel sits in a nearby outdoor section of an inn and watches the streets hustle and bustle, sipping on what some would presumably guess is a glass of wine. Kazavel resides currently under an umbrella while an overcast hangs high in the clouds, but no rain yet pours. An Azarketi stands nearby a building that recently took some damage from flames, conducting an investigation. Typical minor issue of someone tripping with an oil lamp and starting a small fire, but was put out before lighting the entire outer wall ablaze. A creature appearing to be made of strange stonework, what some have learned to acknowledge as a Conrasu, having just finished up a street stitching on a person who recently got their arm badly cut open counts the coins that it could collect from the patchwork job. Sitting under a merchants stall, unbenownst to the merchant, lays a wolf made of machine. The creature appears to be resting from the bustle of the street. It doesn't stay off guard though, instead it eyes all the individuals it can from its little hiding spot. The creature appears to be learning faces, just incase at some point a contract might happen. Right now, it appears off work. ![]()

The Slithering Maps
![]() In the cosmopolitan trading city of Kibwe, at the edge of the Mwangi Expanse, innocent people struck by a terrible curse known as the slithering are melting into malevolent oozes. The heroes are at the epicenter of this slimy curse and might be the only ones capable of recovering the ancient magic required to break it. Tracking the course of the slithering through Kibwe's colorful markets and shrines, the heroes must untangle the curse's origin and discover the role the nefarious Aspis Consortium plays in the unfolding conspiracy. The mysteries the heroes uncover might usher in a new era of plenty and prosperity for Kibwe, if the heroes can survive the slithering to experience it! ![]()

![]() So we still have a while before this starts up, but this will allow you all to discuss what you plan on doing for characters. To give you an advantage I probably shouldn't, everyone may request 1 item worth up to 1000gp as a starting piece of extra equipment. All character creation must be able to follow along Pathfinder Society rules, with some deviations available per my approval. (Example; using Azathoth as a diety.) Reason for any deviations should be explained and presented well. While the lowest you can all start for alignment is Neutral, going Evil will not force your character out of the game, but it will require the group to cooperatively agree that this is the agreed upon choice of action before we commit to it. If the party is not all agreed to an act of evil then I will be requesting a different choice to be made. With that in mind, the key component I want out of my party for this adventure is to have strong RP and cooperation. Do not make this game a hassle to return to because of party discord. Small disagreements can be alright as long as they do not turn into full on feuds. I highly recommend everyone follow this guideline to make sure their character remains in sync with the RP environment of the adventure.
Please note; I am still in the process of reading and preparing the adventure as of the time of this post. I will have a starting date when I am both comfortable and closer to the end of my current campaigns I am GMing. Question: Why is it called Adventures in Varisia?
Question: Should I be using a campaign trait from the Player's Guide?
Question: How many traits do we get?
Question: What are the starting attribute points set to?
Question: Is this Campaign mode?
Question: Why is there PFS based limits?
Question: Will you change that later?
Question: Will we ever expand to more than 5 players?

![]() Korvosa, the Jewel of Varisia, has long sparkled on the shore of Conqueror’s Bay. Established just over 300 years ago by Cheliax at the height of that empire’s expansion, the city now commands its own destiny. A line of Korvosan kings and queens emerged to rule the city, establishing an infamous seat of power—the Crimson Throne. Rulers have sat upon the Crimson Throne for more than a century, and the city has flourished; yet the monarchy always seems on the brink of disaster.

![]() Orders from the Decemvirate (Feel free to Read):
Personal Instructions from the Inner Circle of the Pathfinder Society This crisp note, delivered personally to each of you by courier, bears the official rune of the Decemvirate, the anonymous, masked ruling order of the Pathfinder Society. The Ten have rarely taken notice of your efforts to date, but their reliance upon you is a sign of your growing influence in the organization. The orders command you and a team of hand-chosen fellow Pathfinders to escort the famous longsword Pale Maiden, blade of the legendary early Pathfinder Durvin Gest, to the newly reestablished Pathfinder Lodge in the city of Woodsedge, in Revolution-wracked Galt. The Decemvirate wishes to entrust the sword to the Lady of the Lodge, Venture-Captain Eliza Petulengro. You are to escort the Pale Maiden from Absalom to Galt and ensure that the weapon arrives safely.
With a week of travel from leaving Absalom, you all have plenty of time to learn about each other. Introduce your character, with description and highlights of your past. ![]()

![]() Scroll from a Mysterious Benefactor:
According to the few remaining accounts, the Azlanti outpost of Nal-Kashel was a shining testament to the glories and revelations of the old empire. A crowning achievement of engineering, the city served as an ancient observatory and center of learning, and a necessary pilgrimage site for the educated elite of Old Azlant. But even then, dark rumors hinted at forbidden astrological manipulations of alien realms, and whispers claimed a terrible force guided the minds of Nal-Kashel’s scholars. Earthfall brought low the glorious empire, and Nal-Kashel sank below the waves, its halls home now to sharks and eels. Only the highest spires and deserted streets of the elevated temple district remain above the sea, while broken tower tops float through the sky above in slow, elliptical orbits about the island, a forlorn testament to the city’s former glory.
You all are called upon a unique assignment to explore the Azlanti outpost of Nal-Kashel. This will require you to passage through a Cheliax channel known as Hellmouth Gulf, which is avoided by many ships for good reason. Thankfully a small schooner ship was hired to take you on this trip and it can navigate the inhospitable coastline. Sharp rocks jut up from the waves all along the coast, like the gaping maw of some foul beast. You have had some time to meet and greet with each other while on this voyage. Go ahead and post introductions to each other, and post in the Discussion tab as well. ![]()

![]() The Pathfinder Society has secured the tools and uncovered the secret to shattering the Untouchable Opal and liberating the demigod within. All the Pathfinders lack is an impossibly hot flame—one that can match the searing hatred of Ymeri herself. The Society's best bet is Kandirion's Pyre, a supernatural forge situated where the elemental planes of earth and fire relentlessly batter each other. Freeing a demigod could send ripples through the multiverse and attract the attention of powerful creatures. Only the greatest agents stand a chance of breaking the Opal and surviving. ![]()

![]() You have received a letter with the symbol of the Grand Lodge on a wax seal. You burst the seal open, and begin to read... Pathfinders, I have recently uncovered a series of notes that I believe hold critical truths about the origins of the Pathfinder Society and the founding of the Decemvirate. A gnome Pathfinder by the name of Eylysia was well-known at that time and was held in high esteem until an assassination attempt on members of the Decemvirate organized by Eylysia led to her ejection from the Society. These notes I have found indicate there may be quite a bit more to Eylysia’s story than we previously realized. The most legible of Eylysia’s notes reference a “speaking artifact” purportedly lying beneath a “false rider.” Descriptions drawn from recent visions suggest the “speaking artifact” originated in Varisia. I suspect it is related to the Shoanti, a people well-known both for their oral traditions and horsemanship. It seems Eylysia suspected that the noted explorer, Montlarion Jeggare, had glimpsed this “speaking artifact”. I have secured passage for you, so head to the Jeggare Museum in Korvosa, where Montlarion’s ancestor, Mercival Jeggare, serves as curator. Once there, see if you can locate this “speaking artifact”. I await your findings. Sincerely,
Time to pack up your belongings, and gather to meet your new team for the next few weeks. Perhaps it is best to introduce yourself. ![]()
