Thanks Naruda. I hate making Chronicles, they'll be out tomorrow. And I'm always in for constructive criticism if you have anything - gameflow, narration, scenario, fun/not, good parts, bad parts, storyline, good-bad-improve-more-less, would you recommend, etc. [aside from the annoying asuras at the end, I know how you all feel.]
The rest of the hunting expedition passes without incident, and you make their way back to Absalom without any difficulty. Though Ambrus Valsin is excited to inspect the items you found in the lost temple, he is especially thrilled you recovered the journal recounting Khiben-Sald’s travels. He immediately refers the log to the Society’s Vudran historians for analysis, hoping to glean information about other lost sites the Maharaja may have built or visited during his travels. There is a knock upon the lodge door. A courier enters with several large boxes, and a note of gratitude from Rudyahm and Matsanda. Unpacking them, you find the stuffed trophies of the animals you took down in the Segang Jungle to take home. ~FIN~
An oozy liquid leaps out and melts off Teke's arm! damage, no save: 9d10 ⇒ (1, 8, 7, 8, 6, 5, 3, 10, 4) = 52 info:
just kidding Inside the drawer, you find a richly illuminated scroll of the Vigrahin Patitraka (a Vudran holy text) and a handwritten journal belonging to a priest who accompanied Khiben-Sald on his travels around the Inner Sea. A coiled strap of leather turns out to be a magical Monkey Belt. But sadly, no ooze in the drawer. These priceless items appear to be what the Society was hoping to find.
You make your way back to the enclosed shrine. A large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. The asuras took great delight in desecrating the shrine at the heart of this temple. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here.
The Asura takes a few more blows from your spells and sees that it surely can't drive off five intruders, eventually it would run out of arrows and meet the same fate as its cousin. It gives you some parting words in Infernal then disappears behind the mound. Infernal:
"You suck!" Long moments pass, it seemed to have fled. [Combat Over]
Teke's bolt hits the asura but does little damage. [DR] Only Alarin gives the creature a good gash. Even with Naruda's guidance, Eazy's shot misses. Ito's bullet bounces off its skin harmlessly. It fires back, missing by far. @Ito: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 [All PCs up! Round 11, Asura has partial cover]
Eazy’s acid splash gets over the barrier and burns the creature but Teke’s bolt hits the embankment. Alarin blasts the asura again with Magic Missiles. Ito pops it solid on the noggin with a Holy Smite and it drops limp! The remaining Asura fights on, gets revenge on Ito with an arrow to the chest. @Ito: longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 hit [All PCs up! Round 10, Creature has partial cover]
Alarin hits it again in the face. Teke's bolt, Eazy's acid, Ito's bullet, Naruda's ray - all strike the embankment. The asuras volleys back at the paladin, missing both shots. @Ito: longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
[All PCs up! Round 9, Creatures have partial cover] Initiative/damage:
Yea, they got crazy abilities for CR2. In subtier 4-5, they are CR7 with SR and summons! Hint* You can still complete the mission without winning the battle. Spoiler* Had your group not gotten in combat with the monkey swarm, they would have returned to help you in this boss fight. Eazy Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Naruda recalls from rumors that the Asuras are extraplanar with certain abilities. [DR 5/cold iron or good] While Alarin was on the other side around the enclosure, he saw for just a moment...A large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here.
Sorry delayed guys, busy day. Eazy hits the same Asura with a splash of acid. Ito aims a sling though it smacks into the debris pile. Alarin doesn't miss and hit it in the face again, he can swear the previous Missile damage seemed to have disappeared. Naruda bounces another bolt off the pile as well. The Asuras fire back at the blond sylph, putting two holes in his arm. @Alarin: longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 hit
[All PCs up! Round 8, Creatures have partial cover] Initiative/damage:
This will frustrate everyone. The Asuras sees the group coming around and darts back to the other side, causing Naruda's shot to clang into the debris pile. They take position and each put one arrow into Naruda and Eazy. @Easy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 hit
[All PCs up! Round 7, Creatures have partial cover] Initiative/damage:
Teke's dagger clangs against the far wall as it was not throw high enough. Naruda leads the frantic cavalry back to the other side to surround Asuras, Eazy and Ito dashing along side. Alarin runs down the corridor but the critters are nowhere in sight. [All PCs up! Round 6] Initiative/damage:
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Not bad on the presti. I'll give one Asura a 10' move penalty. Allowing for Teke to take his readied attack with dagger. Make the roll Teke. Ito's minor trick pays off as the cracking sound gives one of the asura's a pause, leaving an opportunity for Teke to attack before it passes the corner. Alarin sends another Missile into the same one as it runs by. Eazy's acid splash also hits it dead on. The Asuras curse and continue running over the 'Tiny' gap between the ceiling and debris, disappearing from line of sight over the other side. [All PCs up! Round 5] Initiative/damage:
Ugh! Well, he's not going to pull one out of the air. I've been stuck in these moments, suggest try to push through, be creative. Teke does a retreat and readies a different strategy. Eazy slings another ball of acid into the wall. Ito misjudges the distance and finds himself a little short reached. The Asuras senses the group closing in, takes to ceiling like spiders and darts across the hall. [All PCs up! Round 4] Initiative/damage:
Wil: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 @Teke: longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Assuming that Alarin casts MM: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
Alarin’s Magic Missiles flies over and around the cover to hit the closest Asura in the face. Eazy hugs the walls into defensive position and fires an acid glob that hits the corner. Naruda tries to evoke some fear in one, again it resists her powers. Teke aims a well-placed shot with an electric blast but the asura just burps after getting hit and laughs at him. "GET OUT GET OUT! THIS PLACE IS OURS!" They re-concentrate fire on Teke - one arrow hits him again. [All PCs up! Round 3, Creatures have partial cover] Initiative/damage:
Kn Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
@Naruda: longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 211d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 hit
Naruda has no idea what the creatures are other than Small in size. They make ominous comments at the witch's incantation. Shaking off her hex, they return fire, putting two arrows into her. [All PCs up! Creatures have partial cover] Initiative/damage:
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 13 Teke doesn't notice any threat and inches into the darkened Hall of the Mountain, unaware there are arrows trained on him. Tiny shadowy figures hiding behind the headless statue lets a volley fly. [Surprised: Teke's Stealth failed opposed, Perception failed opposed]

[Naruda and Teke up! Creatures have partial cover]
Alarin does not detect any magic down the hall. Both he and Teke sees a 20-foot-tall, high-relief sculpture of a mountain dominates the north end of this large chamber. A statue of a figure now missing its head sits in the lotus position at the mountain’s peak, while smaller statues of monkey-faced pilgrims rest on ledges farther down the mountain. Shattered pieces of yet more monkey statues litter the floor. The southern half of the room is filled with rubble, obstructing an arched passageway to the south which Naruda weasel came through. In the center of the room, a small enclosed shrine made of dark brown stone faces south toward the rubble area.
Teke checks the ledge where Headband Man leapt into the jungle and finds a narrow path extends between the exterior wall of the temple behind the thick web of vines and tree branches that cover the temple’s walls. On the other side... a 20-foot-tall, high-relief sculpture of a mountain dominates the north end of this large chamber. A statue of a figure now missing its head sits in the lotus position at the mountain’s peak, while smaller statues of monkey-faced pilgrims rest on ledges farther down the mountain. Shattered pieces of yet more monkey statues litter the floor. The southern half of the room is filled with rubble, obstructing an arched passageway to the south. In the center of the room, a small enclosed shrine made of dark brown stone faces south toward the rubble. A hallway to the west leads to a balcony overrun by foliage, while a hallway to the east leads to an open balcony. 1d20 ⇒ 17 [Map updated,I moved Teke and Eazy across, to expedite. PCs up!]
Who has UMD for the wand or class feature? Teke wrote:
There are many species of monkeys on this isle and all over Golarion. However and indeed, the mosaic on these broken tiles look exactly the likeness of the monkeys which your group vaporized a few days ago.
Headband Man bats the glaive away with his shield and runs out the side of the temple, diving into the foliage. [Combat over, Eazy 0hp, Goliath -12hp bleeding] Loot:
A mosaic of a monkey-faced figure decorates the floor of this room, though the tiles that would form its eyes are missing. The north end of the room is filled with rubble blocking an arched passageway. To the west, vines and foliage intrude into the temple through an open-air balcony, while a similar balcony to the east remains relatively clear of plant life. An open archway leads south. [mindful of the compass, PCs up!]
Ah yes, I forgot the polearm AoO The woman's moment of possible escape and life is quickly extinguish by Alarin's glaive - like Naruda's missed snowball - she didn't have a chance in hell. Teke jolts the Headband Man again, who decides he wants to survive, he turns and runs. [withdraw out the side of temple; Alarin can let him run or take AoO] [Alarin up!]
No prob. You mean the trip or the crit? Both were rolled at natural 20, cover didn't help, lucky rolls. Even if nat 20 wasn't auto success, their bonus would have still succeeded. Round 3:
Round 4: AoO Ito (Golaith) standing:
This group has been plagued with low rolls most of the scenario, that's for sure.
'We are kind of comically bad at this!' - kinda? AoO Ito standing: 1d20 ⇒ 20
