Speaking as a player at one of Shifty's table, I can also confirm it's been a blast! Especially given that we're running an all-skitter crew!
Can we get a similar survey about deities/philosophies we want expanded material on? Attack of the Swarm was awesome for expansion on Hylax, but I want ALL the Weydan material! Also Triune. Oh, and Eloritu and Ibra! You know what, I'll just wait until the PROM (Philosophies and Religions Operations Manual) comes out!

Yeah the whole choice in the hospital thing is a bit iffy to me. Basically, if you go after the datapad, you get the full credit rewards, but the wounded folks die. That also means the other survivors and Speaks Forgotten Words don’t like you as much, and this can make it very difficult to earn the second fame. On the other hand, prioritizing the wounded folks makes it easier for you to get the invitation from SFW and earn the second fame, but you lose out on some credits. In the end. You all did enough to earn 2 fame/rep, so that part is correct. As for the high tier rewards, yes we played low tier, that part was just an error on my part I think. Thanks for being honest on that!

In the meantime, here are the CHRONICLES for everyone. If there's anything wrong or missing on there, please let me know, and I'll get that fixed up for you. A quick explanation of some things on all of your chronicles: - Unfortunately, you did not earn the full credit reward for this scenario, specifically because you did not recover Dr. Yuuqa's data pad from the operating theater in the hospital.
Again, if you have any questions, please let me know! Thanks for being a great table! I'm looking forward to playing with all of you again sometime soon!

Hope your all don’t mind, but I’m gonna go ahead and wrap this up with a bit of cinematic summary. The jinsuls didn’t really have a chance to take any of you out at this point, and all you really needed to do was hold out long enough to get across to the Honorbound, so I just hit fast forward. At any rate, congrats! You all earned the full XP and Fame rewards for this scenario! I’ll get chronicles out to you by tomorrow evening.

Gab feints then takes a parting shot at Gold, which misses the mark. Magnus, on the other hand, stands his ground and ends the commander! The next few moments flow by quickly, but are legendary in the Starfinder archives. Gab and Kultainen, standing at the Diplomat and the Negotiator, blast away at the remaining pursing jinsuls, while Magnus and Selene drift across from the Kreiholm’s Hope to the Honorbound. Once they make it onboard the Honorbound’s outer hull, the Veskarium salvage ship breaks off. It moves away at a slow enough speed to not rip apart any of those standing atop the hull, but swiftly enough that the jinsuls can’t jump to follow. Yuluzak has the ship slowly ease away long enough for everyone to get inside the Honorbound before the ship picks up speed. As you board the bridge, you find Yuluzak cheering as the Honorbound’s gunners deal a final blow to the last pursuing jinsul ship. All around, the tide of battle seems to be turning, with the majority of jinsul ships blown to smithereens by the battle-scarred Freehold Armada. Speaks Forgotten Words eagerly wishes to converse with you and the Veskarium captain. The council member speaks at length with you, and eagerly learns of your actions in the battle up this this point. Your actions leading up to this point affect Speaks Forgotten Words’ opinion of you, and the Starfinder Society by association. Because you prioritized saving lives over technology in the hospital and took time to render medical aid and interact with the survivors, Speaks Forgotten Words extends an invitation to meet with the Kreiholm Freehold’s governing council. This invitation takes the form of a tiny, egg-shaped chunk of polished sapphire with an appearance similar to the artifact recovered from Ardent Seeker, and it functions as a datapad. Once Speaks Forgotten Words is safely dropped off on another Kreiholm command ship, Yuluzak returns you to Absalom Station to report back. The party meets with Luwazi in the same conference room they used at the start of the adventure, where the nominated First Seeker listens with growing concern as you recount their mission. Iteration-177 is conspicuously absent from this debriefing, and Luwazi begins her statements by remarking on this. Luwazi questions you about the Kreiholm Freehold’s inhabitants and asks if you had a chance to meet with any leaders. When you present her with Speaks Forgotten Words’ invitation, she grins and exclaims “Starfinders, you soared above and beyond my expectations. This invitation could be the start of a bright new era for the Society. I’m certain that today you’ve made history. I’m so very proud of you.” MISSION SUCCESS! CONGRATULATIONS!

Kultainen, yes, all armor is assumed to have some type of mag-boot or boot clamp feature that allows you to walk along the exterior of a starship. I haven't found anything that suggests this impedes your ability to move normally.
Selene Force Blast: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Though both jinsuls manage to hold their ground, Cyan catches the full brunt of Selene's spell. Purple shrugs off most of the damage. Kultainen carefully moves along the wing to get some distance and steps through the flames left by the silver commander. Flame damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 Kultainen's armor protects her from the flames, thankfully also saving her from catching flame as she doesn't take any damage from them. The second commander, this one is shining golden armor accented with black, commands his complement of guards to focus on taking you down, then imitates its fellow commander by bursting into light and heat and leaving a trail of flames in its wake as it closes the loop, effective cutting you off from the breach to the interior of the ship. The breach in the side of the ship leads out into open space. As such, you will need to use your armor's built-in environmental protections to protect you from the vacuum of space (those of you that breathe, that is). In addition, you all can take one round of preparatory actions (healing, readying weapons, casting buff spells, etc.) prior to exiting the hole onto the exterior of the ship. Open space looms through the jagged hole in the side of the disabled ship. Over the comms, you hear Yuluzak ordering his crew: "Alright, good job taking out those troop tranports. Now, let's ease up beside the Hope, Joyozalva." The doshko-like protrusions of the Honorbound’s engines bathe the exterior hull in an angry red glare as the salvage vessel turns to slide into position alongside the disabled craft. Suddenly, a pair of triangular ships race past, and sparks fly as twin laser beams smash into Honorbound’s aft shields, forcing the vesk ship to pull away before you're able to evacuate. All along the exterior hull of Kreiholm’s Hope, hatches burst open and chitinous, six-legged creatures that seem to be all eyes and teeth skitter through, though many of them remain too distant to engage. The jinsuls closest to the breach swarm over the hull, cutting off access to the safety of the ship’s interior. Jubilant laughter crackles through a comm unit, and the familiar voice of Yuluzak rings out over the channel. “This is what I’ve been waiting for! We’re going to blow them out of the stars! Stay strong, comrades, and hold the boarders off for as long as you can. We’ll pull up alongside you as soon as we get these vermin off our tails.” GM Screen:

Your allies and enemies in this fight also have their armor activated to protect them against the vacuum and will need to account for the effects of gravity throughout this fight.
From the forward of the ship, near the breach you had just exited, a powerful-looking jinsul similar to the one you faced in the hospital, but wearing distinctive silver armor, speaks in jinsul to its attendants, ordering them in jinsul to focus their attacks on your party. It then erupts in light and begins running across the hull of the ship, its magnetic clamps sending reverberations out as it leaves a trail of heat and light in its wake. It runs a curling path around the forward side of your party, cutting you off partially from the breach in the hull. Move action to direct its honor guard; move action Blazing Orbit. Eh, let's just roll over that 32. Gab and Kultainen work together to repair the computers and restore artificial gravity to the ship, preventing future gravitational fluxes. Unfortunately, just as they finish and prepare to get into some further planning about how to evacuate Speaks Forgotten Words and the rest of the ship's crew, you receive a transmission from the Honorbound. Shaakar’s worried face appears on the comm unit’s display screen. “Starfinders, we have a problem. I’ve been scanning your current position, and you’ve got company. More jinsul boarding tubes just made contact with your ship, and boarders are heading toward the bridge. Damaritosh’s doshko! They’re everywhere!” The sound of loudly clicking keys accompanies the science officer’s words. He furrows his scaly brow in concentration for a moment, then looks up from his workstation for the first time. “I hate to tell you this, but the boarders have overrun all viable escape options.” GM Screen:

It looks like this is the only exit available. Meanwhile, Yuluzak orders his ship to come alongside the Kreiholm’s Hope and has his gunners fire at nearby jinsul troop transports to ease some of the burden. The ship shakes as resounding booms signals an opening for you to pursue. Yuluzak comes over the comms and instructs you to keep your comm units active as he prepares for a tricky rescue on the ship’s exterior.

As the Starfinders communicate their intentions, and especially when they make it clear they are fighting against the jinsul, the crew within opens the doors and ushers you in. A complement of six nelentu and syngnathrix officers barricaded themselves and their single passenger within the bridge after losing their fight with a jinsul craft. The ship’s passenger, Speaks Forgotten Words (agender thyr) is a member of Kreiholm Freehold’s governing council. "Thank you for coming to help," the ship's captain says, allowing Selene to translate for the Starfinders, "but I'm afraid there's no saving the ship. The computer here is on the fritz and we keep losing gravity. Unless you all can somehow transport us off the ship, I'm afraid we're stuck!" If you want to repair the computer to stabilize the artificial gravity systems, it takes 10 minutes and a DC28 Engineering check.

Extreme Gravity:
A planet where the gravity is at least five times as strong as standard gravity is extremely dangerous to most creatures. In addition to the limitations of high gravity (see below), a creature in this environment takes an amount of nonlethal bludgeoning damage per round (at least 1d6, but potentially more, depending on the intensity of the gravity). Yeah, the scenario isn't especially clear about that, Gab. I think in a setting where we have a hard time limit on our game (like a 5 hour slot at a con or something), maybe it would be limited. I'm leaving it pretty open, though. You also just cracked the last of the "Cultural Exchange" things with that Medicine check... Gab gets to work checking in on the survivors' condition while the others chat or provide counsel through their raw grief and shock. Dr. Yuuqa soon notices the ysoki hard at work caring for her people and joins him, talking about the various species of the Kreiholm Freehold as they work together to tend to the sick or wounded. She politely asks questions about the physiology of Pact Worlds species while sharing information about the species of her home world. She explains that she treated a wounded vesk who stumbled into the system and passed away several years ago, which is why she has the Vesk language in her hospital’s database. And I'm going to fast-forward and say you would also be interested in Gathering Intel, and since that doesn't require a check, you get it for free! As time wears on, talk turns to the invasion still in progress. You begin to question the survivors about the jinsuls and the Kreiholm Freehold’s connection to the Scoured Stars. While most of the survivors have no real knowledge of these topics and can only describe the terrifying and unexpected invasion, Treads the Clouds (an agender thyr mystic) is a historian who has studied these topics themselves. "The Kreiholm Freehold descends from a civilization that traces its roots to a region of space known as the Scoured Stars, consisting of several diverse species that left the Scoured Stars in search of an idyllic solar system in the Vast. Named after the leader who brought us to our new home, the Kreiholm Freehold has spread across five planets within the binary star system Saaruq-Ruaan. "Our civilization has done little in terms of exploring beyond Saaruq’s orbiting bodies, as these fertile planets fulfill all our resource needs. Further, since our arrival in system, the freehold’s founders instilled laws to dissuade exploration and trade. Originally, these laws protected the people from other groups fleeing the Scoured Stars, and they kept the freehold hidden from the ancient deity, Kadrical, that ruled from our distant home system. Today, most Kreiholm citizens accept this isolationist policy without truly understanding its roots, and the freehold’s origins in distant space are merely a historic footnote. "That is, until a few months ago. Against all odds, we were visited by jinsul demagogues seeking to convince the Kreiholm Freehold’s leadership to return to the Scoured Stars. Our governing council rebuked these jinsul agitators, however, and believed our dealings with our old neighbors to be finished. "But it seems the jinsul hierarchs have other plans. The jinsuls launched a war fleet with the goal of forcibly conquering the Kreiholm Freehold, starting with Saaruq’s outermost planetoids. The invasion seems to be lead by one of the Hierarchs, a powerful jinsul priest of their god, Kadrical."

Muyari replies frankly as Magnus checks in on the soldier, "A little shaken up, to be honest. I'm glad we were able to get out of that hospital at the least. Felt like we were all just waiting for the jinsuls to come wipe us out. At least here we feel like there's a small chance we can survive. Our civilization’s military has focused exclusively on defense. Haven't fought an actual war in centuries! I don't know how long we can hold out." Dr. Yuuqa appreciates Selene's curiosity, but remains somewhat reticent. She seems to be somewhat dismayed by the loss of her datapad and the important medical breakthroughs contained therein. "I'm glad you were there to help save the survivors, of course," she says, "I just wish there was a way you also could have recovered that datapad. The data on that device could have lead to new technologies that would save untold lives!" She remains somewhat morose and doesn't open up about the Freehold's various species.

This operating theater is where the hospital staff perform delicate procedures too complex to be carried out entirely by machines. Dr. Yuuqa and her colleagues presided over surgeries here, and the room contains advanced medical technology unique to the Kreiholm Freehold. Tiered seating around the room allows for observation by medical students, while a table at the center of the room provides a space for the patient. DC 20 Medicine, Profession (lab technician), or Profession (professor):
You identify various equipment stations around the room as medical in nature and specifically intended for complex surgeries but intrinsically different from Pact Worlds technology. That is, that's what this room was before the jinsul attack. After the initial bombing, it seems that a generator that powered much of the complex machinery in this room was damaged and eventually exploded, destroying the delicate equipment housed here. Gab also sees cabinet to the southwest containing a ruined hypopenAR. He also spots a datapad plugged into a holoprojector to the west, presumably the one belonging to Dr. Yuuqa, but it too was destroyed beyond recovery or repair in the blast. You conclude that anything of value in here has unfortunately been lost to you, so you decide to move on and help evacuate the survivors to the Honorbound. Once everyone is safely onboard, the Honorbound takes off to avoid jinsul reprisals. As the ship reenters Saaruq 5’s atmosphere, you have a chance to rest and get to know the nelentus, syngnathrixes, and thyr you rescued. During this time, you can take several actions as Captain Yuluzak attempts to hail nearby Kreiholm ships still engaged in the conflict. Feel free to roleplay this as much as you'd like. Cultural Exchange (Culture or Diplomacy check): Talk with some of the survivors to learn more about the Kreiholm Freehold’s inhabitants and culture. (People of interest: Dr. Yuuqa, Muyari, Vrinn) Follow-Up Care (Medicine check or expend healing items): Provide additional care to the injured refugees to earn the survivors' trust. Gather Intel: You may wish to question the survivors about the jinsuls and the Kreiholm Freehold’s connection to the Scoured Stars.

On the jinsul radiant commander:
d-suit III, red star plasma pistol with 2 batteries (20 charges each), minor photon crystal, mk 3 ring of resistance, mk 1 travel treads(AR) On each of the jinsul ground patrols:
estex suit II, squad machine gun (0 rounds left), tactical skyfire sword, screamer grenades I (2 - only 2 left) Muyari looks from one of your crew to the others as you discuss retrieving Dr. Yuuqa's datapad. "Did you say that datapad was supposed to be in the operating theater? Ah...well, I hope you're able to retrieve it. That explosion we heard before the jinsuls arrived sounded like it was coming from that direction. "As for the delivery ward, it's just around the corner here. Room in the green square on the map "The operating theater is to the southwest of that. Room in the yellow circle" You move to check these locations while Muyari musters the civilians to evacuate to the Honorbound. After some quick searching, you find that the delivery ward contains a basic physician drone(AR), a dermal stapler(A)R, and two mk 3 serums of healing. Moving on to the operating theater, you struggle for a moment to force open the door, which is hang jammed in its frame. You search and discover that a secondary generator must have exploded, destroying anything of value in this room. Boo! Sorry, this is rough, but you're gonna miss out on a bit of treasure from this room. Hit me up in discussion if you wanna talk about it at all. Ready to evac?

Only Gab manages to withstand the concussive blast of the grenade, which temporarily blows the eardrums of Kultainen, Selene, and Magnus in addition to dealing them further harm. Selene and Magnus pay this affront back in spades, though, as first the spellcaster, then the solarian land blows on the lone remaining jinsul that finally end the combat. COMBAT OVER! Final results
As the firing stops, Muyari emerges from within one of the rooms in the corridor. They thank you for your efforts and offer to help escort the others to safety aboard the Honorbound. "I do not know what else you hope to do here," they say, "but there may be some supplies to aid you in your fight against the jinsuls if you check the delivery ward. Otherwise, we should get to your ship before the jinsuls send another squad to wipe us all out." Any more searching you want to do here? Or do you want to go ahead and evac to the Honorbound?

Thanks for the heads up, Kultainen! If you're comfortable with it, could you add a "bot me" spoiler to your profile, so we can keep the game running in case you're unable to post throughout your travels? |
