Rizzen, when you say "yes to background skills" are you referring to background skills as done in the WoT book, or are you talking about Pathfinder's optional system of background skills?
Also, is anyone doing a wolfbrother? I thought I saw one or two mentioned when skimming through but didn't see it mentioned on Rizzen's list.
Anyway, a bit of spitballing...
Am somewhat contemplating resurrecting Isa, but I may hold off on her as I'm not sure my rolled stats would portray her well and an Aiel sworn to the hunt is a little difficult to explain anyway, especially since we already have one of those. Unless maybe she knows Ceirn and is following him for some story reason.
We have a noble, a couple channelers, and swordsmen, so an archer or wanderer for the skills seems good for rounding out the party. Hmmm... another idea is maybe a Whitecloak deserter who came from a poor family and mostly joined up for the 3 square meals and the steady pay but is now trying to get away from the Altaran debacles.... or on the run because his eyes suddenly turned golden and the questioners have... questions...

Yeah, I've been absent here quite a while. Been a crazy year or two, but I'm doing well. As it happens recently I've been ummm... thoroughly disgusted over here for reasons that may or may not involve a certain dark entity called Ama'zon. I was playing with the idea of starting up a round of the audiobooks but then I woke up this morning with the out-of-the-blue thought "you know, I would almost bet Rizzen might be starting up something..." hopped on to see and lo and behold, here we are. lol

So, hunters for the horn and it looks like we have an Aiel warrior/wilder, an Aes Sedai and possibly her warder/wolfbrother, another wilder and possibly a nobleman and a blademaster with a few more unknowns.
Time is limited between now and deadline, so I may need to see if I can repurpose one of my former characters.

Keeping just out of reach of the prone man, Fia runs past until she is on the opposite side of him as Jedric, cutting off the most likely avenue of escape. Still holding the power, she prepares to snare him in strands of air should he not submit.

The taint was cleansed days(?) ago. So Winter’s Heart, I believe.
”Seanchan omens, wetlander viewings… I do not know of either. Maybe they are two words for the same thing?” Fia says musingly, while trying not to smile at the ridiculous idea of Rand al’Thor being with a Seanchan woman. Or, at least, she hoped the idea was a ridiculous one. The boy had a penchant for decidedly odd ideas and behaviors, after all.
A few moments later, as Jedric approaches, Fiallain leans over to Ryvin and responds quietly, “By reputation, if not personally.”
Following Rhoekk, she then rises and is about to introduce herself when Jedric instead first names her. She gives a small smile and inclines her head slightly. She is a tall, athletic-looking woman (middling height for an Aiel, perhaps), with brown hair and green eyes, with odd flecks within one eye. She looks to be in her early twenties, and is dressed in an off-white blouse and dark tan, ankle-length skirt. She wears an amulet around her neck, and moves with the casual grace of a trained warrior.
“I see you, Jedric of the Jindo Taardad. May you find shade this day… but please, I have not yet returned to Rhuidean.” She says, with a subtle emphasis on the last as if to signify something.
“I do not think we will be a likely source of news for you, having only recently arrived ourselves, and I fear we may be short on oosquai, but you are welcome to join us. ”

'Make some viewings?' What is he talking about? Is this another strange wetlander thing? No, it must be what he calls whatever this alleged 'telling the future' thing is. Girlfriend? A fling? Or something more? Either way, that sounds... dangerous.
Fia leans back into the conversation, her eyes fixing intently on Taldo. "Have any of them come true? The 'viewings' this Min person made?"

"It was not written by anyone so close that I would recognize the handwriting, and I certainly don't know anyone 'knowledgeable of future events.'
She frowns in thought. "Although... I have heard rumors of a wetlander woman who follows the Car'a'carn. It is said she can foretell the future. I have never seen or met this person, and always thought the tale exaggerated gossip, but the Aes Sedai certainly seemed to believe it true. Perhaps there is a connection somehow?"

Fia takes the note back out and scans it once more, her eyes skipping past the names of the falle…missing. It was too painful, and this was not the time or place for grief. She studies the script for a moment.
“They seem well acquainted with us and our mission. Or at least, yours and Amorial’s.” She says, glancing up at Rhoekk.
On the off chance, does the handwriting look at all familiar? Also, would Fia be aware of Min from when Fia was still a maiden? It has been a long time since I read the books, so I don’t remember if she was present in the Aiel Wastes. Also not sure at what point in the timeline Fia went off on her own for the original campaign.

Gritting her teeth against the pain as the ball of fire explodes around her, Fiallain hurries over by Ryvin and channels a stream of air, water, and spirit into her companion and a paltry one of air and fire towards the enemy. Fireball, Ref DC16
Splitting the flows (autosuccess channel checks) to cast a 1st level heal using a 3rd level slot and a 2nd level fireball using a 4th level slot. Assuming heal is as per the original book it'll be a Full round action to convert to heal:

Remind me what version of healing we use? Is it out of the book? i.e. 2nd level weave takes a minute and only converts to subdual... or did we change that?
Also, Ryvin, take a look at Under the Dragon's Banner. Splitting the Flows and Simultaneous Casting feats in particular. :)

Fia grimaces as half her companions chase after their unknown assailant Said assailant appeared to be retreating, though whether in flight from the bellowing Ogier, or to draw them into a trap wasn't immediately clear.
Wetlanders! She mutters to herself and begins to head east, using the rocks and grasses for cover and calling out loud enough that Chen and Ryvin should be able to hear her, "Possible ambush, don't get drawn into it!"

“It… that… must be a circle channeling, surely?” Fiallain asks rhetorically, her face uncharacteristically pale as she stares in the direction of the beaconing saidar. The Aiel woman knew better than many what it was like to hold an unhealthy amount of the one power, having once drawn upon an insane amount to hold up the better part of a mountain above them while she and her companions escaped some caverns on one of the mirror worlds. She had been ill for weeks after, and it made her queasy just thinking of guiding that much flow. Yet it seemed now a paltry flow compared to what was being drawn upon out there.

Oh definitely, Rhoekk (everyone for that matter) would know that about her. Fia is Cosaida Sept of the Chareen Aiel. I think I had it in her old character sheet, but I must have missed porting over to the current one.
Fia turns and for a moment there is the slightest hint of the upturning of the corners of her mouth as she returns greeting, "I see you, Rhoekk of the Jagged Spire Sept of the Tardaad Aiel." Then she is stone-faced once more, black flecks swimming in one eye as she stares down at the ruins.
"Ryvin says we must be away from here before night descends, and I have no objection to that. I... do not know how we came to be here, or where 'here' is, for that matter. Have you seen any of the others?", she asks hopefully. "You two are the only ones I have seen."

Fia eyes the ruins dispassionately, outwardly seeming to be unaffected by the sudden cold. "Is it? Ours, I mean?" Her eyes search their surroundings, habitually looking for any threat while attempting to get her bearing.

Still wrapping my head around all this. :)
So what do we have so far? A cleric, an occultist, and maybe a psychic?
GM, I may have missed this somewhere, but generally speaking, how are night elves treated / viewed in the Middle Nations? Probably with a fair bit of hostility or at least suspicion? I have a bit of a soft spot for the idea of wild, savage elves so I was thinking perhaps an elf of some hunter/slayer/ranger/barbarianish variety. Or a Maligner of the same ilk if that would fit better.
Also, to try to make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew right now, what kind of posting rate would you like to see?

My only thought is it might be easier going with a new direction, given missing players and the multi-year break. Honestly though, I am happy either way.

Hello everyone. Hope you're all doing well, and good to see you again. :)
Great! I’ll try and have a character up and running in the next couple of days. It looks like we have a couple of casters, a few melee, and a roguish type already, so I'm not noticing any obvious holes in party role. Maybe a ranged character? I have a few ideas tumbling around in my head, but nothing settled yet. Maybe you can tell me which sounds most interesting for the group and the story you have in mind.
First, I liked the route we were heading with Isa, so I could do something similar - However, an Aiel may be the most difficult to work into the story given when and where we are... Anyway, the idea here is a maiden who gave up her spears to marry, only for the guy to manifest channeling ability shortly after. In a bit of a break from usual protocol, she accompanied him to the border of the blight to say her goodbyes. Along the journey (or yet to come on the journey), she ends up encountering someone/thing. Rizzen knows who/what. I’m thinking she probably isn’t aware yet of what happened down in the Stone of Tear, or has only recently heard rumors. No longer a maiden and no longer married either, she has a few life decisions to make.
Next idea is a former Whitecloak, now exiled and hunted by his former organization for ‘carrying the dark one’s taint.’ He is a wolfbrother and ended up killing a couple of his former fellows making his escape. He came to the Borderlands a few years ago to get away and make a living by selling his services as a mercenary, hopefully combating the shadow in the process. Bad blood with the whitecloaks and bad blood or at least heavy mistrust with the Aes Sedai might make for some interesting rp. Maybe he’ll end up as a warder in the end. Or not. We'll see. Lol
Last is probably the smoothest to work in. A Fal Daran noblewoman and initiate/sister of the tower, back home on tower business. Not sure about ajah yet. Could be a green, but also might swing with something more unusual like white.

Question for Tiana:
What are your thoughts on another Far Dareis Mai in the group? My last character started off as one of them, but I don't mind playing one again. Being from the same warrior society would tie our characters and a reason to know each other beyond just being Aiel out of the desert.
Otherwise, I will probably be one of the Seia Doon.

I played a weaver of the OP last time, so I'm going to go mundane this go around. Though with so many wetlanders in the group already, I'll stick with playing an Aiel.
My character is more or less ready, save for a couple of questions. This will start off as an Algai'dis'wai (utdb version), with mostly ranged feats as far as combat goes. Unfortunately, the character is going to be pretty inept socially. We'll see how that goes. :P He/she will be from Fia's old sept.
Rizzen, you probably have an idea in your head with what has been going on for the past 200 years with Fia so I'll leave it up to you as to whether or not this character is related.
As to why he/she is with the group, in a nutshell my thought is that perhaps one or more of the clan's wise ones were in Arad Doman and have failed to come back, and one of the chiefs sent the character to ascertain the Wise One's fate - and whether the Seanchan were involved. I could have either joined the caravan in Tar Valon, or met them here. Let me know if that works with what is going on.

Hi all. Looks like I may be joining you, once I come up with a character concept. Is there any role currently lacking? After a quick glance, it looks like maybe an archer for ranged or maybe a third caster could be useful?
