You have received a letter from Venture-Captain Brackett of the Almas Lodge that explains your mission and has sent you to Bellis on a riverboat. The letter will be the first slide of the maps slide. The "Maps" link is NOT the link to this games slide but rather a link to an AP I am running with a group of people who have very little PBP experience. I was foolish enough to put it there before I started running other games and now if I move it or add other games maps, I am sure I will have some confusion on my hands. All that being said, this games slides will be at the top of the page.

The Sellen River bears a multicolored blanket of fallen leaves upon its broad surface, but the Freewind’s bow scatters them as it glides towards Bellis. Though the logging season has ended, the town still buzzes with life. Feel free to roleplay on the riverboat as you arrive. This is a strange start since it lacks a traditional briefing. Once everyone has checked in, I will move us into Bellis.

What the letter says:

My Fellow Travelers,

Strange weather has taken hold in a part of the Verduran Forest, south of the town of Bellis. Falbin, a gnome herbalist who serves our interests in the region, has reported tropical winds and abundant floral growth. I invite you to explore and record the phenomena to the best of your abilities. I’ve arranged passage for your party on the riverboat Freewind, and sent an operative ahead so Falbin knows to expect you. Falbin can be hard to spot, since he’s shorter than the average gnome, but his voice carries like a church bell. If all else fails, use your nose—I’ve never seen the fellow without a fat satchel of herbs at his side.

Safe Journeys,
Venture-Captain Bracket

Each of you receive a request from the Pathfinder Society for your services. Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin asks you to come to his office.

After each of you arrive, Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin rushes into his office and drops a small stack of papers on his desk. Agents, I appreciate your willingness to meet with me on such short notice. He takes a moment to reorganize the papers into a neat pile and catch his breath before continuing. Now then, we recently acquired what may or may not be the relic known as the Inheritor’s Clasp—or rather, one of our agents infiltrated a cult of Rovagug worshipers and stole it. History tells that Iomedae dropped the Inheritor’s Clasp on the day she entered the Starstone Cathedral. According to old Arodenite accounts, the clasp might function as a powerful holy relic, though that theory has yet to be proven conclusively.

I received word from our infiltrator’s handler, an alchemist by the name of Inisa Ardaali, that she was preparing to take the clasp from Katapesh and deliver it to the Grand Lodge for further study. Inisa is a cautious sort by nature. Considering the manner in which she acquired the clasp and the potential interest of the church of Iomedae, Inisa determined that it was best to use discretion in regards to bringing the clasp to the Grand Lodge. As such, she traveled to Diobel, where she hired a caravan for the final stretch of the journey to Absalom. However, we recently received a missive from Inisa sent from a safe house in Diobel. Take a look.

Maps and hand outs will be in the same place for this advenure (top of the page to the left). First slide will be the handout that the captain just gave you, the second slide is a picture of the Venture-Captain. Please read the handout now

After a brief pause to give you time to read, Valsin chimes in. You can see what’s wrong, then? Inisa must have been worried about the message being intercepted; and to be fair, the Aspis Consortium and other rivals are strong in Diobel. It seems to me that after thieves ambushed the caravan, she helped the survivors back to one of our safe houses in Diobel and then set out to recover the stolen clasp. But which safe house, and where is she searching? In denying any interlopers the information, she’s also made this a lot harder for us, a sigh escapes from between Valsin’s lips.

He hands over a sheet from his stack. I’ve just secured passage for you on the next ship to Diobel. I need you make your way there, locate the caravan, and retrieve the clasp from these thieves. If you are able to track down Inisa, all the better. She should have much more information than appears in this letter. If she hasn’t met her end searching for the clasp on her own, make sure she makes it safely back to Absalom. Now, there isn’t much time, so are there any questions?

The only briefing skill check for this adventure is if you are trained in Pathfinder Society Lore, you can make a check. Only if you are trained.

Please ask questions and introduce yourselves!

The Lorespire Complex bustles with activity as the doors to Venture-Captain Arvin’s private office slide quickly. The lashunta man jots down some quick notes on his datapad, and then he glances up and motions to sit down.

Welcome, Starfinders. We have just finished compiling some intriguing news. The Society’s magical archive for divining potential new finds, the Communion Vaults, houses a perpetually sleeping Liavaran Dreamer named Whisperer of Solar Winds. The Dreamer rarely rouses from its torpor, but when it does, it spins interwoven dream stories that point us to promising finds. It awoke earlier this week and has given us an elegant story about a fractured sandstone tablet that could point the Society to a great treasure.

Unfortunately, the three fragments of the tablet appear to be in very different locales based on the tales we’ve recorded. Luckily, each of these locations appears to be within the Pact Worlds. It’s your job to track each piece down and report back here so we can get everything pieced together and figure this dream out. Your first destination is the machine-driven world of Aballon. Based on the details of the first dreamspun tale, you’re likely to be looking for an android in a less-than-reputable city. We’re sending you via shuttle to Towershadow, where you’ll have to figure out for yourselves what awaits. Time is of the essence, as things can change quite quickly. Any questions before you depart?

Feel free to introduce your character and to ask any questions. There is space combat in this adventure (but we have sometime before then) so also discuss your preferred ship and role in space combat.

You are all called to the Archive's Cortex for your next assignment!

The efficient hum of machinery fills the Archive’s Cortex. Projected images and text flit across multiple screens positioned around a raised swivel chair occupied by Historia-7, leader of the Dataphiles. Historia-7 swipes a finger to clear the feed and speaks without preamble.

My sources indicate that you are the most efficient and capable team the Starfinder Society currently has for my mission. I sincerely hope you do not prove this claim erroneous. I recently detected a discrepancy in the Society’s data logs. As you may be aware, my primary objective has been decoding information regarding the Scoured Stars incident. Before the incident, my predecessor, Historia-6, and other Society members extensively investigated several corporations as well as the Scoured Stars system. Much of their knowledge was lost to us. A recent ally, a skilled hacker named Ceren, uncovered multiple data links from what remains of my predecessor’s research leading back to a corporation known as the Arch Energy Consortium. When I compared these findings to our records, I found no mention of this corporation, and all data related to Arch Energy Consortium was somehow deleted from our records. My worst-case scenario is being realized: our data has been tampered with.

Historia-7 unhooks the neural cables from her neck and massages the attachment sites. I require additional information about this corporation. Arch Energy’s CEO, Ilia Tamm, has enough security resources and paranoia at her disposal to make a direct infiltration inadvisable. The weak link in this proverbial firewall is her son, Envar Tamm. His proclivities make him very suggestible, and I hypothesize that resourceful individuals could convince him to provide the information I seek.

Envar routinely attends gladiatorial fights on Arch Energy’s corporate space station, Brilliance. It will take you some time to reach Brilliance from here. During your journey, I want you to create false identities. Meanwhile, I’ll make sure that you’re entered into one of these gladiatorial matches as contestants. From there, you’ll need to get Envar to grant you access to his mother’s computer records. Acquire any data related to the corporation’s board of directors. Above all, this mission demands subtlety, as Envar has quite the media presence.

This is a secretive mission so a heavy weapons ship may not be advised as it may give your new identities away, you may pick which ever ship you would like. Any questions about the mission?

Culture (Recall knowlege) or Diplomacy (Gather information):

dc 10:

Envar Tamm is Arch Energy CEO Ilia Tamm’s only child. He is chief procurement officer of the Arch Energy Consortium, a corporation that manufactures and distributes solar batteries. Envar is a minor celebrity who relies on his money and connections rather than actual talent to remain in the spotlight. He dislikes being bored and seeks the company of exotic or famous individuals.

dc15:

Envar owes his position within the company entirely to nepotism, and while he has an elevated level of security clearance and a matching salary, his mother employs a host of assistants to limit his influence on the corporation—and her bank account. On Brilliance, however, Envar usually travels unsupervised. Ilia Tamm and her public-relations team try to cover up Envar’s addiction to transdimensional pesh, but leaked videos of Envar’s drug-fueled antics occasionally slip through the cracks. One of the more popular videos depicts Envar nearly crashing a solar yacht in an attempt to impress the shirren icon Magisterial Chef Ghornak Ryzcech during his visit to Brilliance.

dc 20:

Envar owes a substantial amount of credits to the ysoki gangster Razor, the leader of a crime organization funded largely by the drug trade. Razor is known for her brutal methods of extracting credits from those reluctant to pay. Razor often uses gladiatorial matches to recruit hired muscle, and she plans to attend the event on Brilliance. She intends to collect Envar’s debt after the fight.

Please discuss ship preference, ask questions, and pre game roll play! I look forward to play this one!

You all received a message requesting you to come to the Lorespire Complex urgently. Once there, you are sent to the Venture-Captain Arvin's office.

The tall and confident lashunta man gestures to several functional chairs, inviting you to sit. Thank you for arriving so quickly. As I mentioned in my comm message, we have an urgent opportunity to recover some critical information.

Several months ago, a crew of Starfinders took a ship called the Unbounded Wayfarer into the Vast to explore a series of uncharted planets. They never returned. Earlier today, a vesk pawnbroker in the Downlow neighborhood contacted us, offering to sell us several Starfinder insignias. These insignias belonged to the lost crew of the Unbounded Wayfarer, and that immediately caught the Society’s attention. The pawnbroker—named Julzakama—doesn’t realize the true value of the insignias. We negotiated a purchase price in exchange for the insignias and information about the seller. We hope this seller can lead us to the Unbounded Wayfarer and its crew.

We’ve remotely transferred the requested credits to Julzakama. Now, we need you to collect the insignias and all the information you can from the vesk regarding whoever sold him the insignias, and then track down that seller. Learn where to find the Unbounded Wayfarer and its crew. I’m worried that the seller might not be on the station for long, so act quickly. If you have any questions, please make them fast.

Feel free to introduce yourself and ask questions.

You are recent fast-tracked graduates of the Starfinder society academy. Having just endured (or perhaps enjoyed) your graduation ceremony, you have been ushered into the Lorespire Complex for your "Commencement" mission.

As the doors to the Lorespire Complex slide open, a green holographic image of a middle-aged human woman shimmers into view at the center of the room. “Greetings,” it says. “I am Guidance. Please use the cheek swabs in the open receptacle to provide a genetic sample for Starfinder Society identification purposes. If desired, you may place your hand on the glowing panel to receive a subdermal implant further marking you as a member of the Society.”

This implant rests underneath the skin of the palm of one hand, or at the end of a tentacle or similar appendage in species that lack hands. The augmentation can be activated or deactivated mentally as a swift action. Activating the implant causes a rendition of the Starfinder Society’s symbol to glow underneath the skin. This augmentation acts as a mark, letting others know you are a member of the Starfinder Society. It also increases the light level within 5 feet by one step while active

Feel free to give a description of yourself and introduce yourself. Please include if you took the implant;.

About a dozen travelers for many different races are now at the last part of their journey to Absalom station. As the shuttle called Okimoro , departs from Akiton, heading to the station. You hear over the comm device "We greet the most recently entered passengers on our shuttle service to Absalom station. Our next stop will be at the final destination in about 15 minutes. The weather outside is still vacuum, but on Absalom Station you can select every weather and climate you like at any of the luxury hotels. Mention the Okimoro at White Pass Resort & Spa and receive a 15% off discount. Find it on the info-sphere when we land to book your stay! I wish you a pleasant journey."

Then the drives fire up indicated by the boom changing to a high pitched tone and the acceleration pushing at everyone in direction of the back. After a short moment the shuttle reaches travel speed and and sitting in the two opposing rows of seats becomes relaxed again.

You guys start in a small shuttle. It is flying from Akiton (a near by planet known for mining) to Absalom station. This can be a connection flight, what ever fits your story of where you are coming from. Its up to you guys on how much you want to interact and get to know each other. But please feel free to roleplay this flight as much as you want before we get this adventure rolling.

Just so you all know, you are on this shuttle to meet Duravor Kreel. He is dwarf who is in who was the recruiter of the starfinder society who each of you has been in contact with. He is supposed to meet you at Absalom Station as you get off the shuttle. You know that there are 3 other people on the shuttle who are coming to meet him (the other PCs).

Hey guys. Throwing together the thread and stuff for you guys. You can use it to it to get used to how posting works and stuff. Generally speaking, this thread is for out of character discussions and game play thread is for when talking in character (you can talk out of character in the game play thread, but make in the context of what is going on in the game play stuff and if you are posting something else. For example "Nigel casts summon monster and an eagle flies out. Hey guys who should my eagle attack?). I am not a stickler for this sort of thing, and if talk gets a bit too far off topic in game play, I will just ask for it to move to this thread. Helps keep in organized for if we need to read back to check up on something.

That being said for those of you who have not been on the forums, you can make your post (which is usually only used in game play thread for when you are not talking as your character) you use [ooc type what you want then [/ooc (closeing the brackets...) the other things you can do using the [] is listed at the bottom of your box that you type in that says "How to format your text". You click show and it lists all the different things such as when you are talking you Write in bold but if your character is whispering you you write smaller or if you want to shout You write in bigger AND IF THE SITUATION CALLS FOR IT, YOU CAN USE CAPS LOCK and if you are thinking something you write in italics . I think those are the important ones.

Dice rolling can be a bit confusing. (dice=use this space to describe the roll (attack, knowledge, perception...)then 1d20 + whatever your bonus is and then end it with (/dice)
life science (dc 10): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
good use of that two! wouldn't want to roll that when I am attacking you haha

So feel free to post questions here. I will open the game play thread (it should be linked to this thread if I do it correctly) and give a brief intro sometime soon. I am really procrastinating on paper writing.

I am in the middle of the Claim to Salvation SFS so I haven't really made my own character yet but I want to before this finishes up (I guess I should clarify that I play by post). My question is if using medicine will ever be a legal thing for day jobs? I ask because I was thinking of a character background that having that option would fit well with. If that doesn't ever seem likely than I'll play that character and just not worry about day jobs but if it is something that might happen, I can push off playing this concept till then.

Tl;dr: how likely will it be that medicine can be used as a day job?

Hello Everyone. I was wondering if you could help me out a bit. I posted this question elsewhere but didn't get any responses so I figured I would start a new thread to ask.

The Exchange wrote:
Resolve a combat encounter nonviolently through bribery, diplomacy, trickery, or a similar tactic.

Does this mean that if someone else in the group makes a diplomacy check and we avoid conflict, do I get to mark it? Normally it's things the character does but technically I avoided conflict if my group talked the bad guy off of attacking us. If I am wrong, no big deal, was just looking for some clarification.

The Exchange wrote:
Create a new trade route, either by mapping a legitimate path or opening doors to a smuggling enterprise. Doing so requires a successful Intimidate, Knowledge (geography), or Survival check with a DC equal to 15 + your character level.

What exactly does this entail? I understand the check part but in game what situation is it that I would be "mapping a path" or "opening doors to a smuggling enterprise"? I guess I would like an example for each of the skills because I don't really understand what it's asking me to do. Thank you for anyone who can clear this up for me!

Lastly, I was told that these cards become legal when Gencon happens. I started a play by post 2 days ago (before Gencon) and its clear it wont finish till after Gencon. Does that mean this faction card is legal this adventure or do I need to wait till the next to use this card. Thanks again for anyone who can clear any of this up for me.
