CY 595
10th day of Patchwall (equivalent to September)
City of Greyhawk
The Champion’s Games are here! This annual event, organized and produced by well-known and well-liked public figure Loris Raknian, has long been a much-beloved tradition in the Free City. Gladiators come from distant lands to participate in the
games, and the winner gains the honor of wearing the Champion’s Belt for the next year, when he must defend his title from all challengers.
You makes your way through the crowds of adventurers gathering to sign up for the Champion's Games. All races and classes of adventurers can be seen of different skill levels. You make the line and finally reach the clerk. He/she asks you 3 questions and only 3:
"Name?"
"Individual or Group?"
"Do you have 100 gp entry fee?"
They give you a paper with a number and ask you to move along after taking your gp. You know the paper means there are more competitors than are allowed. The Games is a competition of 16 teams (max 5 people per team). 10 teams have already been registered. Thus, there will be a lottery to determine the last 30 competitors out of a pool of 500 competitors.
Anxious moments pass for the next 1 hour. Then, one of the clerks starts calling numbers. 5 people called...10 people called..15 people called...and you hear your number called. The six remaining teams are directed to separate areas, where you meet your fellow competitors.
Since the beginning of history, humanity has measured time in ages. Ages of glory, of Dreams, and even of Great Sorrows mark the human tally of the years, giving a sense of order to the events of past centuries. But one age has yet to occur, an age of darkness, of decay, and of writhing doom. Witty bards and wrathful preachers know it as the Age of Worms, weaving it into the peripheries of their passion plays as a mythic era of destruction that could begin at any time. Astrologers, diviners, and servants of the fates know more. The canniest among them fear that the Age of Worms has already begun.
Those words set off my favorite AP so I would like to GM an AoW campaign starting at 9th level as the party enters the Champion’s Games, a gladiatorial set of matches set over a one week period in the Free City of Greyhawk.
Character creation rules:
Feats: only Core Rule Book
25 point buy but no stat higher than 19 or lower than 8 at character creation (only 1 stat lower than 10 allowed).
Races: Core preferred but open to another race with convincing backstory.
Classes: Core, Base, and Unchained versions.
Alignment: no evil
Gold: 46k which is standard for 9th level
Traits: No
Background skills: No
VMC: no
Elephant in room: No
HPs: max at 1st, half + 1 per level
Concept: tell me your characters motivations in life - what does he value above all else - gold, independence, knowledge, power, etc. If asked to save the world, why say yes, other than the obvious no place else to live answer.
Age of Worms is my favorite AP ever and the gold standard in my book. Running it in PF1, however, has the issue with all the splatbooks that characters are much more powerful and I have to modify the enemies to give the players a little of a challenge and that's too much work for me. So my thought was to run the game starting at the Champion's Belt module (9th level) set in the Greyhawk setting, but with characters restricted to taking only Core Rulebook feats. Most of the PF1 classes would be available, but I think toning down the feat selection would tone down the players' power level. Would there be any interest in a game like this?
You find yourselves today in feasting hall of Greathammer Bastion in the dwarven Sky Citadel of Kraggodan in Nirmathas, guests of Prince Gorm Greathammer. You each received a summons from Grymm Bloodstone, a fellow adventurer, whom you have met in your traveling careers. Perhaps you went adventuring together for years or saved each other's life or were indebted to each other. No matter the reason, your dwarven friend has called in his favor to join him in Kraggodan and you have responded.
As great heroes of skill and renown, you have been summoned urgently as there is a dire menace afoot that only your skills can prevent - or as you may think, just another day in your adventuring life. In your recent travels, you've heard rumors of armies of giants amassing under one banner under the rule of a being called the Storm Tyrant and an imminent attack is coming, but you've heard these same rumors for decades and these types of plans have never come to fruition. But this seems different, the level of concern genuine and palpable. So while you await to hear the grim news, as it is always grim, you enjoy a feast in your honor in the dwarven hall. Hopefully, it will not be your last meal....
Congratz to all selected. Please discuss among yourselves the game and any other questions. Please format the Race/Class Tabs with your important info as high level games are extremely complicated and I would appreciate all of your help in making my job easier. And most importantly, let's have fun!
Hello all, I am back on the boards for a second shot at this game. The first time I tried to run this game (25 point buy), I saw message board posts to edit the AP to make it more challenging and place this part of the game on another plane and I edited the thing to the point where it became too complicated to run and that sapped my excitement for it. This second time, I am sticking to the 15 point buy system with core races and running the game as is. I'm very excited for this. Hope you will give it a shot.
Does the idea of invading a fire giant base sound fun to you? If so, this is the recruitment for you if you like high level play. Looking for 3 players. I currently have a Dwarf fighter Level 13, one of the original players, willing to run it again.
Character creation rules:
Core Races only.
15 point buy.
Alignment: No evil.
Wealth: 108,000 gp (no more than 40k can be spent on one item) (I am aware this is the 12th level wealth level). The party will receive some story items that you would have picked up had you played the AP from 1st level.
No background skills.
No Elephant in the room feat taxes.
No VMC.
2 traits, may be campaign but not limited to it.
Try not to dump stats - no stats lower than 8 after racial.
I know creating 13th level characters takes awhile so no need to create an alias - a summary character sheet with some personality quirks and physical description is sufficient. Just tell me the most important detail about the character - what makes him/her tick to the point that they will willingly invade a giant military base?

Hello all! Welcome and I will try to tell a fun and exciting collaborative story with you all. Please finalize your characters and let me know if you have any questions. Remember high level play is very complicated and I do not know every rule off the top of my head so try to make my life easier. :)
Martial characters, please break down your pluses to hit and damage for your base attack in your profiles. For example: +23 hit (+13base+6Str+2weapon..) etc. Thanks.

For decades, demons have ruled the Worldwound. Fearsome fiends of every stripe—their mottled skin harder than iron, teeth like serrated blades, and eyes burning with Abyssal flames— roam the ruined lands that were once known as Sarkoris, leaving their mark wherever they go. Four crusades have attempted to cleanse the land, but each seems to meet a worse fate than the last. Were it not for the line of magical wardstones along the eastern and southern borders, the demons would have long ago overrun northcentral Avistan and beyond.
The Fourth Crusade hasn’t really ended as much as petered out, yet some refuse to accept that. Amid crippling shortages and record lows in morale among the crusaders, the Mendevian war effort teeters on the brink of collapse. Though the demonic occupation of the Worldwound is growing, as is corruption among the crusaders, a dwindling minority of paladins and priests maintain that the Fourth Crusade is still vibrant and alive.
For several weeks, excitement has been building in Kenabres — Armasse is coming! Traditionally an opportunity for scholars and priests to come together to study the lessons of history from wars past, since Aroden’s death, this holy day has become more about training commoners in weaponry, choosing squires, and ordaining new priests. Over time, Armasse has grown to encompass jousting competitions, mock duels, battle reenactments, and other festival events. In Kenabres, the festival (which takes place on 16 Arodus) is eagerly anticipated, for it provides distractions from the horrors of being on the front line of the war. Smiles on faces normally marred by downcast eyes and furrowed brows do wonders for city morale in the weeks leading up to the event.
Hello all! Welcome and I will try to tell a fun and exciting collaborative story with you all. Please finalize your characters and let me know if you have any questions.
Hey everyone! I've never liked the beginning of this AP with the silver dragon saving the party and starting underground and making your way from there. So instead, the players will be a patrol on its way back to the city of Kenabres when they run into a demon-infested city. Flows better that way IMO. Hopefully, the game will be fun. I will see this AP through and hope to find players who will post 1x day at least.
I already have a 4th player who is playing a halfling fighter. As stated above, you will start as a unit of Crusaders from Kenabres. I will be looking for 3 players, whose heroic stories inspire/amaze/humor me. Why are you fighting in the Crusades and what ties you to Kenabres? Why do you care about saving the city and its people?
Character Guidelines:
-3rd Level - max hps 1st level and then roll for 2nd and 3rd levels (minimum is 1/2+1 per level).
-Stats: 20 point buy (no score higher than 18 or lower than 7).
-All Core and Base Classes allowed (Excluding Gunslinger (Bolt Ace is ok))
-Core and Featured Races are allowed.
-2 traits - do not have to be campaign.
-3000 gp
-No VMC
-Background skills allowed
-Time zone
-Give me a detailed physical description of your character or link a pic
Deadline is 1 week or until I feel I have enough builds. I will post if deadline changes.
I think that covers all. Let me know any questions.
The lottery....you missed it! The Sun Falcons had just finished rescuing a local nobleman's daughter from some brigands, for which they were paid a handsome reward of 4000 gp. However, the time involved in tracking down the brigands and saving the girl took more than was expected. To make matters worse, on the journey back to Wati, the adventuring company ran into a persistent sandstorm that delayed their arrival by 3 hours. By that time, the high priestess of Pharasma, Sebti the Crocodile, had handed out all of the lots and wooden tokens to the adventuring companies gathered in the Sunburst Market in front of the imposing edifice of the Grand Mausoleum. The Sun Falcons missed out on their chance to be selected to explore the tombs and places of historical significance in the Necropolis! So the party watched as the Cryptfinders, the Dog Soldiers, the Sand Scorpions, and a host of other adventuring companies with macabre and interesting names began their explorations. To comfort themselves each party member spent the next couple of days spending their 1000 gp share in the city of Wati. So this is how you spent your starting gold.
The present...
3rd day of Pharast
Curiously, you find yourselves today in the foyer of the home of Professor Moham Al-Shabiz, a renowned and wealthy professor of history, who summoned your party this morning for a meeting. It is around noon and a platter of dates and other delicious treats have been laid out for you all, along with some wine. Two private guards stand at a door, watching you enjoy the treats. They instructed you that the Professor, who is inside the room they are guarding, will be with you shortly and to make yourselves at home. Why you accepted the summons is up in the air. Perhaps you were bored or you were looking for work or just simple curiosity. Whatever the reason, at least you got a free meal out of it.
You can rp your activities, thoughts on missing the lottery, your reason for being here, or anything else.
Congratulations to all selected! Let's have fun. Please format the Race/Class tabs of your character profile to reflect initiative, saves, and all relevant stats. Any questions, let me know.
The ancient lands of Osirion are blanketed by the sands of time, and eldritch secrets and vast riches lay just beneath the sun-blistered surface. As modern Osirion opens its vaults and tombs to outsiders for the first time in centuries, many of these lost treasures and secrets are now emerging and explorers are needed to recover them! The Ruby Prince Khemet III has ordered the government of Wati and the church of Pharasma to open the city of Wati’s necropolis to exploration. This development has attracted a number of adventurers and scholars and merchants to the area. What wonders will you find?
Take a look at the free player's guide to familiarize yourself with the city of Wati. I am going to run an amended PbP - may veer off the standard rails.
Character creation guidelines (Looking for 4 players):
2nd level (gives your character some history)
20 point buy
No evil
Skills: Per PHB
Classes: All allowed except no summoner and no psionics.
Races: Core + aasimar preferred; others better come with great backgrounds to justify their presence
GP: 1000
HP: Max 1st level and 1/2+1 for second level
2 traits (1 may be campaign but not necessary, especially if you are an outsider)
Posting: 1/day at a minimum
Looking for a character sheet and the following:
1. Visual description of character (feel free to post link to images if you have something specific in mind)
2. Tell me about your personality - Why do you care about tomb exploring? Why risk death at the hands of ancient traps or untold horrors buried away?
3. Are you a native of Wati or found yourself here for reasons beyond your control?
I will leave this Recruitment open for a week. Any other questions, let me know and thanks for considering this PbP.
The Free City of Greyhawk, population 160,000, is where you find yourself on this hot summer day. More specifically in the stadium-like Arena, surrounded by 40,000 souls eagerly awaiting the finals of the Champion's Games! The Games are an annual athletic competition in Greyhawk, owned and managed by a former Champion, Loris Raknian, your host.
Over the past week, the crowds have been treated to a 5-day long gladiatorial tournament, with four rounds of elimination. And there has been much blood this year! The first round consisted of six free-for-all battles between groups of four teams. The six winners were then paired off into three one-on-one battles on Day 3 of the event. On Day 4, two of the remaining teams fought each other while other team fought an exhibition match against an exotic monster (a Froghemoth!).
The popular warrior Auric and his warband, winners of the last two Games, are in the Finals again going for the three-peat and they are the favorites. Auric and his band.
An unknown band of warriors, the Ivory Cudgels, an adventuring group dedicated to St. Cuthbert, has reached the Finals as well and has a healthy fan base among the crowd. There is much excitement in the air, as the Finals' festivities are dying down and the main event is about to begin!
Feel free to rp what your characters are thinking and doing, as you are baking under the hot sun.
Welcome all, I appreciate the effort you took to make your characters so let's have fun together. Please feel free to finalize your characters, intermingle backgrounds, etc. Any questions, let me know. This is a collaborative effort so I am counting on all of you to make this fun.
Hey all, I'm feeling nostalgic about Age of Worms, my favorite AP ever that I completed as a player and would love to DM on the boards to completion. A year ago I ran this AP here and then RL issues got in the way. But I also realized that allowing splat books outside of PHB really changes the character's power levels in high-level encounters and the climactic encounters in the AP at the end of each chapter were not challenging for the players and only became so, when I modified the bad guys with material outside of core book, i.e. adding spell perfection, bouncing spell, etc. That's too much work for me and it was one of the reasons I lost interest. Hence, this recruitment will be restricted to core PHB for races, classes, feats, and spells. I know I risk alienating many of you who like playing with character options and different classes and archetypes, but I hope there's enough players who can make an enjoyable character within these character creation guidelines:
12th level
25 point buy
Alignment: No evil - I like heroic characters and this AP really shines for the valiant characters standing against the forces of evil against all odds.
Wealth: 108,000 gp (no more than 40k can be spent on one item)
Background skills in effect
No VMC
2 traits
Basic plot if you do not know the plot of Age of Worms: Prophecies have foretold the coming of the Age of Worms where Kyuss the banished god of undeath will return to the mortal Plane and an undead army will rise to greet him and sweep over all of Greyhawk.
Concept: Looking for character's appearance, brief history and the moment that defined your character as a hero/anti-hero, and why you would be interested in preventing this Age of undeath. What actions have you done that garnered the attention of the power players in Greyhawk?
I hope there's interest in this. Any questions, let me know.
You find yourself this warm summer night in Baldur's Gate, a city with a reputation for being a rough place, where crime and opportunity walk hand in hand, and where anything can be bought, sold, or seized at sword point. If something can be given a price, it's for sale somewhere in Baldur's Gate. Drugs and poisons sit on shelves alongside tinctures and remedies. Trade goods from Chult, mechanical wonders from Neverwinter, tomes of magic from Calimshan, and the most believable counterfeits of each can all be found in the city's stalls.
The salty smell of the sea air brings you back to the present, as you make your way though the docks at the Gray Harbor looking for the Sea Sprite, per the instructions you were given. You look over both shoulders, careful to not become another murder statistic in this city where only the rich are afforded the most protection. You pick up your pace on the wooden docks, as you see your destination in the distance. You arrive and board the ship, where two muscular dock workers armed with short swords ask for your letter. After opening the sealed envelopes and eyeing you up and down, they let you on board and escort you to the Captain's cabin, where 5 chairs around a table await you. One of the dock workers, the one who is missing only 4 teeth speaks, "Have a seat mate, yer host will be with you shortly, once the others arrive." Before you can ask any questions, the dock workers leave and close the door, locking it behind them, and return to their posts.
Within 15 minutes, Kuruk, Kwin, and Ziyad are gathered in the cabin, when you feel the boat lurch forward. Ten minutes later, the door opens and a handsome male elf with a rapier leads the way in and then makes way for a silver-haired gnome with a goatee, "Sorry for the wait and subterfuge, gents, but in Baldur's Gate, you can never be too careful, especially when you're dealing with Harper business."
Congratulations to all selected. Please work on your profiles and feel free to chat among yourselves, intertwine backgrounds if that is appealing to you, etc. I will post house rules, expectations, and other details later. Any questions and comments, let me know. The goal is to have fun.
Looking to jump back into PbP and I've been wanting to play HotDQ for a while now. I know the module has issues, so will be running a modified version of it that hopefully you will enjoy. Since it was the first 5E campaign, I will assume the players are familiar with the general premise and the Cult of the Dragon.
Campaign stuff and character creation:
Set in FR
Sources allowable: All options in PHB and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide
Starting Level and Wealth: 1
Stats: Standard array in PHB
Alignment: No evil
Factions: List 1-2 possible factions in FR that intrigue your character
Recruitment will be open for a week unless I receive some amazing applications early on so I reserve the right to modify the deadline.
Applications: I am looking for 4-5 characters. Please submit a character sheet (you do not have to create alias until selected if you that is your wish). Please include a physical appearance, short background, and most importantly, any ties you may have to the region and Greenest (the starting village). I will be adding to your background/history if selected.
Any questions, let me know. Game will be a mixture of combat and rp as you rise from in fame throughout the Sword Coast. Hope there's interest for this.
The Immortal Principality of Ustalav is a fog-shrouded nation of countless horrors, and a once-proud realm that for over 600 years languished under the despotic rule of the Whispering Tyrant, until he was vanquished 72 years ago. Yet, the legacy of the Whispering Tyrant is a poisoned, cursed and haunted land; many of his followers remain at large, patiently hiding awaiting his return. And some are taking far more fruitful efforts to see the lich-king's return...
Ardis, 4700 AR
You presently find yourselves in Ardis, the former capital of the Immortal Principality of Ustalav, after receiving a written summons from Lady Sonora Delmont with a simple message - Tar-Baphon must not rise! Please seek me out in Ardis if you wish to play a role in saving the world. In a city that contains many decaying estates and fallow fields, the estate that lies before you with the Delmont name above the entry archway has been respectfully maintained. Guards at the entrance led you inside the manor, no questions asked, upon being shown the summons. You now sit or stand in a lavish manor, in the library to be specific, while you await your hostess. Tea and wine has been served for your enjoyment.
Hey all, after being absent for awhile, I am back on the boards for good and as a fan of high level play and undead and vampires in general, I want to try out the "Ashes at Dawn" module here in PbP, skipping to the good parts of CC, starting at 11th level. If there is interest, we can finish the AP too. I am looking for 4-5 brave characters!
Character creation:
20-point buy
11th level
No evil
HPs: Max + 1/2+1 per level
2 traits, may be but do not have to be campaign traits from Carrion Crown
Wealth level for 11th level
Classes: No summoners or gunslingers
Races: Core and featured only
Spells: Core only
Application:
Be a team player
Post your physical description - I am a fan of visual bad-assery lol
Mannerisms, tics, personality...what makes you unique?
Personal achievements - why and how did you get into adventuring? How are you 11th level? What are your goals?
You don't have to create an alias, but I would like to see your crunch.
I will leave recruitment open until the 31st. If I get a great share of applicants, I reserve the right to cut the recruitment short.
Hey all, my campaign, just underway, has lost one of its players. The party currently consists of a halfling psychic, dwarf paladin, and half-orc warpriest. The town is currently under invasion of a hobgoblin force and we are very early into it. Looking for one player and here are the character creation rules:
Level: 1st
Races: Core only
Classes: Paizo only
Ability Scores: 25 point buy (no ability score less than 8 after modifiers), I don't like dump stats.
Skills: Background skills in effect
Hit Points: Full at first level; half +1 at subsequent levels
Alignment: Any non-evil
Traits: 1 campaign, 1 non-campaign.
Gold: Average
No slumber hex and no Daze metamagic feat.
I am looking for a character concept/build and your background link to Phaendar - would prefer if you were a local. Any questions, please let me know.
The flyer read: Once a season the people of Phaendar transforms its town into the greatest celebration of trade and community in Golarion! Come meet hundreds of other Nirmathi for music, food, and trade! Join us all for a week of fun and community, and stock up for the coming season. So here you are...
Phaendar’s Market Festival draws a crowd from all over Nirmathas, many solely to hear Aubrin the Green—the retired Chernasardo Ranger-turned-Caydenite cleric—recount bawdy tales of adventure from her youth. Outside, the celebration continues, as raucous shouts carry on the night air. Warmed by the firelight of the TapRoot inn after a long day, any levity comes as a welcome reward to the rough, earthy souls of this riverside trade town. “So there I am, thinking, when will I ever be able to talk to a bear again? So before the grizzly can stand back up, I turn to it and say, ‘All I need is the honey. You can keep the bees!’” The room erupts into laughter as Aubrin finishes her winding story and takes another draught from her tankard. “But it’s fine now. All’s good. She named a cub after me. Someday I’m going to have to check in on little Ow Oh Gods That’s Too Many Bees.”
Post your introduction as you have been sitting in the inn, listening to the tales and having some drinks and your reason for being here in Phaendar at this time.
Hey all, thanks for responding and wanting to play. I am sorry you did not get into the other Recruitment, but I will try to make this game fun for you. You can submit the same character concept as you did for Motteditor's game or something new. I will stick with his basic character creation rules with some changes
Level: 1st
Races: Core only
Classes: Paizo only
Ability Scores: 25 point buy (no ability score less than 8 after modifiers), I don't like dump stats of 5
Skills: Background skills in effect
Hit Points: Full at first level; half +1 at subsequent levels
Alignment: Any non-evil
Traits: 1 campaign, 1 non-campaign.
Gold: Average
No slumber hex and no Daze metamagic feat.
You can start off as strangers or have entwined backgrounds - up to you, it is your game, I am just moderating it.
Any questions, please let me know and let's have fun.
It is the year 4713 AR. For decades, demons have ruled the Worldwound since the breach in 4606 AR. Fearsome fiends of every stripe—their mottled skin harder than iron, teeth like serrated blades, and eyes burning with Abyssal flames—roam the ruined lands that were once known as Sarkoris, leaving their mark wherever they go. Four crusades have attempted to cleanse the land, but each seems to meet a worse fate than the last. Were it not for the line of magical wardstones along the eastern and southern borders, the demons would have long ago overrun north central Avistan and beyond.
2 weeks ago:
The Fourth Crusade hasn’t really ended as much as petered out. Amid crippling shortages and record lows in morale among the crusaders, the Mendevian war effort teeters on the brink of collapse. Despite these conditions, the four of you have signed up for the war efforts, for whatever your personal reasons may be. You are based out of Kenabres, a fortified crusader city bordering the Worldwound. The interview to join up was simple and consisted of only three questions:
1. Are you willing to defend the ideals of Aroden and Iomedae and drive the forces of evil back?
2. Do you know how to swing a sword, cast a spell, or shoot a bow?
3. Are you willing to follow orders and die for the cause, if needed?
After you answered affirmatively, you signed your name and were escorted to the barracks and provided with a basic traveler's kit and rations for a week. Now two weeks later, you find yourselves on the front lines of the Crusade, cold and hungry, caked in mud and dirt and blood. From the original 50 soldiers attached to your unit, 10 have died in combat with lemures and other fiendish creatures (low-level threats) that are able to bypass the wardstones. By the quality of the recruits to your right and left, you can tell mercenaries, ruffians, and even criminals form the ranks. You are not sure if you can trust your fellow soldiers to guard your back in battle.
Present Day:
1st of Arodus 4713
The forty soldiers of your unit are gathered outside the city gates of Kenabres on a cold and rainy day. Your commander, Sir Lorian Durth, addresses you all and standing next to him is a figure you do not recognize: a tall male human clad in heavy plate armor, wearing a red tabard typical of the Mendevian Crusaders, and carrying a cavalry helmet in his left hand. Sir Lorian speaks, "Crusaders, it appears we have a special request from High Command. If your name is called, please report to Sir Ilivan of Nerosyan, who will brief you further. The rest of you, back to the front lines we go." The tall human unfurls a scroll and begins to speak in a loud authoritative voice, "Windi McConnell, Sarela Falrin, Jericho Darkleaf, and Tippy Fullbottle, report to me." You can tell Sir Ilivan says the last name a little with disgust. The rest of the unit marches away, leaving the four of you with Sir Ilivan.
You can dot and rp your appearance and introduction, as you have only seen each other in passing in a 50-man unit, although everyone remembers Sarela as one of the healers.
Congratulations to all selected...Let's have fun. Please finalize your characters for my review and format them for with vitals stats in the Race/Class tabs.
Hey everyone! Now that I am back on the boards for good, I am looking to delve into another PbP. I'm looking for a group of heroic players interested in playing in Chapter 1 of Wrath of the Righteous (and see where we go from there). If you are familiar with the AP, no worries, as I will be changing stuff as I see fit. The players start as Crusaders in Kenabres fighting off the forces of the Worldwound. I will be looking for 4 players, whose heroic stories inspire/amaze/humor me. Why are you fighting in the Crusades and what ties you to Kenabres?
Character Guidelines:
-1st Level
-Stats: Roll 4d6 (drop lowest d6) 8 times, pick highest 6 stats
-All Core and Base Classes allowed (Excluding Gunslinger (Bolt Ace is ok))
-Core and Featured Races are allowed.
-Pick 1 Campaign Trait (Located in Player's Guide) and 1 other Trait. I'll also allow 1 extra Trait if you take a Drawback.
-Average starting Gold
-Max HP
-Background skills allowed
I think that covers all. Let me know any questions.
The Free City of Greyhawk...the Arena!! That is where you find yourself, in the VIP section, surrounded by 10,000 souls eagerly awaiting the finals of the Champion's Games!
The Games are an annual athletic competition in Greyhawk, owned and managed by a former Champion, Loris Raknian, your host. Raknian pic He has introduced himself to every member of the VIP section, where the wealthiest citizens in attendance are waited on hand and foot by servants and protected from the grueling sun by an awning, while the rest of the commoners in attendance bake in the heat. However, the crowd does not mind. They have been treated to a 5-day long gladiatorial tournament, with four rounds of elimination. And there has been much blood! The first round consisted of six free-for-all battles between groups of four teams. The six winners were then paired off into three one-on-one battles on Day 3 of the event. On Day 4, two of the remaining teams fight each other while one of them fights an exhibition match against some kind of exotic monster (a Froghemoth!).
Last year's champion, the warrior Auric and his warband are in the Finals again and they are the favorites. An unknown band of warriors, the Ivory Cudgels, a band dedicated to St. Cuthbert, has reached the Finals as well and has a healthy fan base among the crowd. There is much excitement in the air, as the pre-game festivities are in full-effect. This Finals promises to be quite exciting and unique!
The Age of Worms is an age of darkness and despair heard of only in ancient prophecies. The herald of the Age of Worms is said to be the undead deity Kyuss, who will call forth an undead apocalypse on the world. It is upon you!
Hi all! I am a veteran of RL rpgs and my favorite is the classic AP - Age of Worms. I have run this game with a number of parties (i.e. it is quite deadly!). I want to try it out here in PbP, skipping to the good parts, starting at 12th level. I am looking for 5 brave characters!
Character creation:
12th level
No evil
HPs: Max + 1/2+1 per level
No traits, unless you take feat
108,000 wealth level
No summoners or gunslingers
Races: all welcome, but preferential treatment to more common ones
Application:
Be a team player (as I said, AP is quite deadly!)
Physical description
Mannerisms, tics, personality...what makes you unique?
Personal achievements - why and how did you get into adventuring? How are you 12th level? What are your goals?
Do you prefer Greyhawk World (original setting) or Golarion?
I will leave recruitment open until the 30th. If I get a great share of applicants, I reserve the right to cut the recruitment short.
Let me join the list of Kingmaker threads looking for replacement players (must be the summer time!). The group is currently made up of 2 rangers (one human and one elf) and a human fighter and we were having a blast, until we lost 2 players (the cleric and alchemist) due to non-contact and I assume RL issues.
The characters are all still 1st level and early into the AP, having just dealt with part of the bandit problem and still have the full mapping of the region to complete.
20 point buy, 2 traits (one from the AP player's guide would be helpful). The party certainly has melee capability, so feel free to send your submissions to round out the party. I like background and description of the character. And be able to post often enough to keep the game moving. Here is the thread link if you want to read up on the party's adventures: Link
Any questions, let me know. You can post concept here or e-mail it to me to:

Depending on number of submissions, I will post a deadline for decision. Thanks!
A chill wind blew through the area, forcing the crowd of onlookers to gasp and you to grasp your cloak closer to your body. The cold temperature and the early snowfall that had arrived that morning announced that a harsh winter was on its way. As you blow into your hands to keep them warm, you scan the crowd and see over a hundred people, a majority of them nobles cordoned off in different areas marked by stewards carrying different styled crests on long poles: there is one with a snow-capped mountain peak with a silvery crescent moon and black hammer, another with a white swan with a sun on the horizon behind it, another with a black eagle against a gold field wings spread, and finally one with a gray ship against a field of blue below and black above. You immediately recognize the last crest as the same as the one draped about the coffin on the makeshift stage built at the entrance to the Restov graveyard. 20 guards dressed in chain mail stand in front and to the sides of the stage. On the stage toward the back sits a middle-aged woman with a black veil, surrounded by three young males, all of whom share a resemblance, dressed in noble garb, appearing to comfort the woman. The youngest looking male's face, no older than 18 winters and the handsomest of the three, is filled with sadness and anger. Next to them oddly stands an elf with golden brown hair and a stoic look on his face.
For Cale and Silstaren:
You are up on the stage
For Garyn and Strovan:
You are in the non-nobles section. You think of how only hours before you had arrived in Restov looking for a warm meal, only to be told that the city of Restov was in mourning and that all business establishments were closed by order of the Lord Mayor, till after the funeral. When asked who died, all the guards told you was “a Surtova”. However, they directed you toward the graveyard, saying the Lord Mayor wanted all swords for hire present.
For Greehr:
You are in the House Lebeda section
As you collect your thoughts, a human male in his early 40s walks toward the pulpit set up on the stage. Lord Mayor One of the guards announces him: “Silence and respect for Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius”. The man begins speaking in an eloquent tone: “Ladies and gentlemen, we come to honor the death of Lord Rethric Surtova, husband and father of three sons, and third cousin of King Noleski Surtova, right wise regent of the Dragonscale Throne of our fair land, who could not be present due to important political matters but sends his condolences." Grumbles and coughs can be heard through the crowd, as the King's name is mentioned. Unwavering, the Lord Mayor continues, "Now is not the time for political rhetoric and house infighting. Nobles and grand citizens of Brevoy, I take this opportunity to speak to a severe problem that plagues our lands, affects us all, and caused the death of our fair lord. The Stolen Lands to the south have been ignored far too long. They have become a breeding ground for bandits and barbarians who act with impunity! These brigands have been active in those lands for too long without regulation. How many more of our citizens must they assault and murder before we take action?? How many more funerals must we attend? How many more graves must we dig in this graveyard for our loved ones? Pointing to the widow, the Lord Mayor says: "How many more widows and fatherless children must we comfort? This latest act, the murder of our King’s third cousin, I tell you this is the last act of treachery we will allow! These bandits will no longer lay in ambush for our caravans and attack our citizens without reprisal; they will learn to fear Brevic power! The call has gone out. Brave men and women skilled with the sword and spell will be found, brave people such as Silstaren", pointing to the elf, he continues, "member of our Lord Surtova’s retinue, who bravely fell 4 bandits, before himself forced to flee after being critically wounded during the slaughter of our Lord’s caravan. These warriors will be sent into the wild and they will wield power in the name of Restov, in the name of the Aldori Swordlords, and in the name of our King, and they will put each one of those f***ing bandits to the sword or rope. They will explore the Stolen Lands and look under each stone or pebble and find these bastards and punish them for their actions against the Crown." He walks toward Lord Surtova’s widow, gets down on one knee, takes her hand, and says loud enough to hear: "This I swear to you, your husband’s death will not be in vain, they will pay for this act! Justice will be done!" Returning to the podium, he says “Bandit killing season starts now! Who’s with me?” The crowd erupts into a cheer, as the Lord Mayor walks off the stage.
Congrats to all who made it! Let's try to have fun and post your characters into your profile. Feel free to make comments, talk among yourselves, and describe each other.
This situation came up in a recent game session. Party is investigating some ruins, when BBEG rogue/fighter, who has drop on party, sneak attacks with a bow shot on the barbarian. The rogue then wins initative and using rapid shot hits the still flatfooted barbarian, inflicting even more sneak attack and taking the barbarian to negatives. Now, knowing that the party cleric would try to channel energy and heal the barbarian on his turn, Rogue/Fighter readied his second attack of rapid shot to shoot the barbarian again if anyone healed him. He really just wanted to threaten party without fear of reprisal.
Rapid shot is a full attack action. Rules for readying an action say that it must be standard, move, swift, or free action. So, what I did is not allowed by the rules, from what I see. How else to handle the situation? Without the readied action, I would have been forced to either kill the barbarian (no room for talking then) or shot the cleric, but would not have taken him out unless I crit. Any rule-wise suggestions?
I know there are a few Kingmaker PbPs on this board already, but if you missed out before, this is your chance.
Recruiting for 4-5 players for this game.
Basics: 20 pt buy, 1st level, 2 traits, average gold, max hps.
Core races and classes from PRPG and APG acceptable.
E-mail me your concepts and character history. I would like people who could post at least 2x daily to keep the game moving. Any questions, let me know.
