Dotting! I’ll have my header set up before too long.
Looking forward to this! :D
No rush at all, but what’s the plan for starting date?
Additionally, the module player’s guide mentions we probably have met up and formed an adventuring group in advance; are we going to roleplay that, or just discuss it, or did you have a different plan?

Starting date: as soon as everyone has completed purchasing their gear and has formatted their characters.
I have a different starting point than the module suggests. If the players want to know each other, you can work that into your background. If not, you're hired by a common employer so that will bring you all together. Whatever the party decides is fine with me.

Greetings new friends! Very good adventuring upon us!
Thyste Hop-Lightly
Excellent! Happy to meet you all, then!
I suppose we can see if it’s likely for any of us to have known each other; entirely possible that some of us are friends and some are strangers, then!
For some potential hooks for Thyste’s friends:
-Was a gladiatrix in Iblydos (Golarion’s Greece) until about 1-2 months ago
-Cause of Retirement: death in the arena
-Loves a good challenge (and may have caused a scene in a tavern/marketplace/fair as a result)

I'm so excited to join you all on this path! For those curious, the exclamation point denotes a glottal click common to Polyglot speech.

I was indeed curious! Is there anywhere I can go to hear that? And is denoting that with an exclamation point common, or just the best way to do it on the Paizo boards?

It would be nice, I think, if we have all met previously, at least to form a company for the exploration. Is there still a lottery into which we are entering?

Thanks for choosing me D-L!
Hello Everyone!
I should have gear and formatting done by the end of tomorrow if not tonight.
All Players: How do you feel about setting aside a portion of your starting money to purchase a team wand of Cure Light Wounds? It's 750 so a 4 way split would be 187.
Both Zhalet and Mahzuzi can cast it (if he has it) but that's not many times considering Zhalet is a 1st level cleric. Her archetype doesn't have spontaneous cure spells. She can also channel but that's not very reliable for significant healing at low levels.
It might save a life, but mostly it allows us to have longer adventure days without stopping for rest.
Thyste: Here are a couple of links on languages with click consonants. They're cool!
Zhalet is also a traicky name to get right. It's Persian. 'Zha-' sounds like the 'Ja' is the French name Jacques. the '-let' has a silent T so it sounds like the end or 'Sorbet' but with an L rather than a B.
Thyste Hop-Lightly
The Wand idea is a good one! My F2F parties have all insisted on it but I always forget in PbP...
I’ll make sure to allocate the 187 on my end!
Also, thanks much for the pronunciation tips! Thyste isn’t too tricky: THEE-steh.

It makes sense that the party starts as an existing company of adventurers. The game will start mid-lottery with the second site.

Header formatted!
I went ahead and set aside 187 for the heal stick, by the way. Un-Masterwork'd my lamellar to do so, but conversely, Thyste's armor likely wouldn't be "masterwork" anymore anyway (since the axe that killed her had to pass through it to do so), so getting something a little nicer and without a big ol' gap missing from the side is gonna be on her "to-do" list.
Besides, the extra 1 ACP probably isn't going to be the difference between life or death.
Probably.

Alright, I believe I'm all set. I won't add the wand to Zhalet's gear until I hear from Mahzuzi and !Kutlwisi on the subject.
@D-L: I've given Zhalet 2 vials of holy water free of charge since she can make her own. I figure there would have been downtime to allow the spell to be cast at some point. Sound reasonable?
I can see Zhalet really liking this group! Admiration for Thyste, she's tough, experienced, and battle-tested, something Zhalet certainly is not yet, but hopes to be. Great ideological compatibility with !Kutwisi (except for the putting oneself out of business goal), and he's pretty darn adorable otherwise. Mahzuzi is practically a soul mate! Zhalet would never have imagined she'd end up in the company of another Musetouched, or even ever meet one!
Thyste Hop-Lightly
Technically, Thyste's "battle-testing" has only really occurred in the arena, and she's unused to the realities of battle that is neither scripted nor weighted in her favor
Thyste has an appreciation for holy women (having made a friend or two who were dedicated to patching her up), though I think she sees the Sarenrae as making battle more complicated than it should be-- why bother to redeem one's enemies when a quick spear to the chest will make that Pharasma's job?
(On the topic of deities, Thyste is pretty polytheistic, but holds Gorum closest, with Kelksiomides and Psomeira as close seconds-- especially following her death and revival.)
I agree that !Kutlwisi is adorable. Thyste is fairly worldly and will probably enjoy having someone to misdirect on purpose teach the ways of the world.
Mahzuzi I'm thinking on, but having little care for "adult topics" like politics is something I think she'll appreciate!
Mahzuzi al-Wati
We are a very interesting group, I agree! Compatible goals too, more or less.
I'm very fine with buying a cure wand, and I'll adjust my sheet accordingly
Mahzuzi al-Wati
Mahzuzi's from Wati.
I'll propose "The Winds of Fortune" as our company name, if no one has another preference. :)
Zhalet Soroush
Looks like Mahzuzi is local by birth, !Kutlwisi has become local, and Thyste and Zhalet are not local.
”How about the ’Sun Falcons’ as a name?” Zhalet asks, clearly excited by her cleverness in choosing a name that references both Osirion and her own religion at the same time.
Thyste Hop-Lightly
Zhalet's got the right of it as far as I know!
"Never was good with names," admits the Iron Spike and the Death Vixen. "People will happily call you any dumb thing you like if you can disembowel three hyenas in front of a crowd."
"Happy to operate under either moniker!"

Mahzuzi claps his hands. "Sun falcons! We fly into the sun! Or out of the sun?" He laughs. "Just as long as we don't get burned!"

Also, please also select your lifestyle and pay the appropriate cost for the beginning of this month:
Destitute (0 gp/month): The PC is homeless and lives in the wilderness or on the streets. A destitute character must track every purchase, and may need to resort to Survival checks or theft to feed himself.
Poor (3 gp/month): The PC lives in common rooms of taverns, with his parents, or in some other communal situation—this is the lifestyle of most untrained laborers and commoners. He need not track purchases of meals or taxes that cost 1 sp or less.
Average (10 gp/month): The PC lives in his own apartment, small house, or similar location—this is the lifestyle of most trained or skilled experts or warriors. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 1 gp or less from his home in 1d10 minutes, and need not track purchases of common meals or taxes that cost 1 gp or less.
Wealthy (100 gp/month): The PC has a sizable home or a nice suite of rooms in a fine inn. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 5 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes, and need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 10 gp.
Extravagant (1,000 gp/month): The PC lives in a mansion, castle, or other extravagant home—he might even own the building in question. This is the lifestyle of most aristocrats. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 25 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes. He need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 100 gp.
Mahzuzi al-Wati
Mahzuzi has an average lifestyle. :)
Thyste Hop-Lightly
Gonna have to run this one by you, actually!
Up until leaving Iblydos, Thyste had an Average lifestyle. However, since she left, she's mostly been boarding-- small rooms in taverns/inns, a cabin on a ship, etc.-- and doesn't have a place she considers a "home base" at present.
That seems to be above Poor (since she's getting a room for herself). Would that be Average, or Destitute-but-we're-tracking-meals-and-nights-at-the-inn?
Thyste Hop-Lightly
Oh, as a side note:
I'm thinking of having Thyste use a lot of bronze (to lean into the Greek Hoplite aesthetic a little more). While I'm pretty sure I can have my wooden shield have a little bronze around the rim, I'm not sure if:
1. People would object to me wielding a Fragile weapon (even with my backup xiphos).
2. The GM wants to deal with all that.
Functionally, Bronze is just "iron/steel but worse at the same cost," so I understand if we have reservations about that.
Thoughts?

Average for Zhalet. She’s always lived more or less communally before, at temple in Gurat. This will be a great and luxurious treat for her!
What about “bronzed” steel? It seems a little odd for Iblydos, which is not isolated or poor, to simply pass on improved technology for aesthetic reasons. But if they have a preference for bronze colored arms and armor, tradition or whatever, so they color the steel to look that way?
Bottom line for me though is it doesn’t matter to me, so do what you prefer.
Mahzuzi al-Wati
If it's basically just for appearances, I don't think you should suffer any penalties for stuff looking like bronze.
Thyste Hop-Lightly
I’ll go ahead and deduct 5gp then!
Thanks much. I’m curious about if !Kutlwisi will have any name suggestions for us.
Also we should come up with how we met! I can’t get the mental image of Thyste being loud in many many places out of my head.
Maybe someone saw the warrior lady hollering at the local officials about letting her prove herself in the tombs and decided to cast in her lot with her?

Ever since the lottery was announced, Mahzuzi has been trying to organize a team, because while he really wants to participate, he fears he has no chance on his own. Hanging out in bars and temples, I think he would certainly approach any of us who looks unattached and suggest they join our company— and he would be very vague about the other members until he has some. :D
Mahzuzi al-Wati
That’s really cool— who is to say it isn’t their destiny?
Zhalet Soroush
Well Zhalet has been sent to Wati rather than coming of her own accord. Not that she's complaining in the least, it's easily the most exciting and interesting thing she's ever had the chance to do. She's been well briefed on the setup: the lottery, application by team, and so forth, so she expecting to need to find a group to join.
If Mahzuzi is the one doing the inviting she would certainly accept. She's just looking for a open slot on a team somewhere. As long as the group she's invited to join doesn't seem really sketchy she's not going to be picky.
It seems Mahzuzi is visibly not a typical gnome. If Zhalet realizes he's aasimar, she'd be thrilled to join. Of course she's aware she' not one-of-a-kind, but she' never actually met another aasimar, and she would jump at the chance to get to know him. Being aasimar isn't always easy. I know, boo hoo. But while Zhalet has no obvious characteristics that mark her as aasimar, she's still sort of off. She's so perfectly, flawlessly, beautiful that for some people she nears a different uncanny valley. She's so right she starts to become kind of wrong and eerie.
She would certainly take it as a divine sign (maybe not destiny) that she should be a member of that particular team.
Mahzuzi al-Wati
It sounds like Zhalet's and Mahzuzi's meeting will be kind of interesting. Mahzuzi has the "Scion of Humanity" aasimar race trait, which means that he counts as both a humanoid and an outsider, and doesn't have to make Disguise checks to hide his otherworldly nature. But I've been imagining that he doesn't know exactly what he is, so it would be fun for me if Zhalet recognizes him without necessarily knowing what that means. Perhaps they each pick up on something in the other, something that could just be great charisma, or a performer's flair-- but aren't quite sure exactly what it is they share.

Hey, all. Busy week at work so far but should get updated in the next couple of days. I'll also "de-masterwork" my armor to pay for my part of the wand.

I'd say my character is living just a bit below average, maybe 8 gp a week? He does his thing whether he's paid or not.

Hey question!
The Opalescent White Pyramid Ioun Stone does the following:
Description
The stone grants the wearer weapon familiarity with the keyed weapon (it is treated as a martial weapon for him).
The Doru is a weapon that operates differently depending on your proficiency:
If you are proficient with Simple weapons, you can use it two-handed.If you are proficient with Martial weapons, you can use it one-handed but the Critical multiplier goes down to x2 instead of x3.
If you have Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Doru), you can use it one-handed and keep the x3.
What would happen, in your ruling, if I used the Ioun Stone above on the Doru? Would I essentially be EWP with it, since I can use Martial weapons?

I work tech support, I give pointers for dummies every day ;)
All right, so, if you don't have a Google account, you'll want to set one up. If you do have a Google account, you have everything you need already!
So one way or another, go to https://www.google.com/drive/. Should come up with two boxes: "Personal" and "Business."
Click the "Go to Google Drive" button in the "Personal" box.
From there, you'll see a navigation bar along the left side of the window and you might even see the Google Drive documents of games you've played in recently in the main body of the window. What we're looking for is the "New" button in the top-left, then the "Google Slides" option in the dropdown menu that appears.
This'll start up a new Google Slides. If you've worked with Powerpoint before, it's basically exactly the same system. If not, let me know and I can give you some pointers here as well-- but I recommend experimenting with it to learn what you can do! You should be able to copy and paste your maps into it, as well.
Once you've got your Slides ready for us to see it, you'll need to generate a link for us. In the upper right, there should be a yellow Share button. Click that, and a dialog box will pop up. Make sure the dropdown towards the top says "Anyone with the link can edit" (by default, it will be "Anyone with the link can view". Copy the link below and share it as you've been sharing your current links, et voila!

I can move the tokens and see the image! :D
Side note: I only saw two of the skeletons on the old map. I think the image on my phone was very zoomed in. Probably should have double-checked before I charged in!
