Donovan had been working hard while the others talked and brainstormed. He finished quicker than he expected. He test fired a needle, a thin wire trailing behind it. Then he pulled the lever that released the little clockwork spring inside the mechanism and reeled it back in. "Does anything in that book talk about how to actually put our minds back into our bodies once we get a good needle stick?"

The Ravencourts were monster hunters. They'd been doing it a long time and trained their children well. Each generation learned the tricks of the last. Donovan had learned well. When he was a child, he'd be brought into a room of the tower. The kitchens, or the stables or the tannery. He'd be told a kind of monster and given two minutes to throw together a weapon to use against it, and another do defend himself with. The test rewarded cleverness. Donovan got very good at it. Looking over the various tools and toy parts, he began thinking. It was hard. He felt like his brain was packed in cotton. Heck, that might be the truth. The spool of wire, and a tube. A spring and a small lever made for a jumping jack. Needles. A long, springy dowel. He went to work. Crafting!: 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 5 = 18 Donovan is essentially building an arm-mounted harpoon gun to fire the needles and connect them back to him with wire. He's also making himself a very long spear, along the lines of a swiss pike. If possible he'd also like to bend and nail metal sheeting to himself to increase his armor.

Is the wooden sword sized for us, or for a child? Donovan shakes his head. "Nico, if they used to be people, they need our help. If they didn't, and aren't trying to steal people's bodies, then we have no reason to want to harm them. They might be able to help us." Looking around at the other toys, he spoke up in his squeeky voice. "How many of you can move? How many can speak?"

Donovan's first order of business now that he was out of the cage was to equip himself. Taking the twine he wound it around himself in a makeshift harness. The rest he coiled and spent a bit of time twisting some wire into a grappling hook. Then he looked for something he could use as a weapon. "No use getting upset. This is the situation we're in, and we already know how to get out of it. They did something to switch bodies with us. We need to figure out how they did it, and do it back."

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 The knight puppet sits up and holds it's head, then stares at it's hands for a few moments before looking around. "You've got to be kidding me." it says in a high pitched voice that sounds quite a bit like a five year old doing an impression of Sir Donovan. It focuses on the lock on the birdcage and the loop of metal at the top of the cage for a moment, then shakes it's head.

Ok, here's puppet-donovan, take 2. I took the doll chassis as is, and added his feats, that's it. Lowering Don's intelligence drops two skills. I chose his two knowledge skills since those are granted by his class archetype. Please take a look and let me know if that's what you had in mind.

Ok, here's my first draft of Donovan the Puppet. I just took the Doll chassis and added Donovan's 2 levels of fighter to it. Looks like he'll be resorting to trickery since he's going to be doing about 1 damage a hit. :) Dimitrio, I don't think you're as bad off as you think you are. You'll have the highest physical damage potential of all of us because your damage isn't dependent on weapon dice or strength. |
