(DC was 25 exactly)
Just as other are about to move forward across the bridge Conrad stops them. The bridge is covered with mechanical pressure plates. Looking closer, Conrad also sees faint groove lines in the flooring leading to the two stone statues. You are 100% positive, but you believe that the pressure plates would trigger the statues to rush forward and either push someone back, or into the dark depths below the bridge.
Miron cast Detect Magic focusing on the bridge, the statues, and even the doors. Nothing within this chamber detects as magical.

I know I said that I would be posting, but looking at the schedule I do not have that much free time for these two camps. Apparently with the younglings they keep them very busy through the day so they sleep hard at night. Less likely to get homesick.
I'll have my computer with me and will check in here and there, but I won't be on it much.
I did post in the discord but figured I would also here.
Hey everyone! I need to apologize for my sudden disappearance and for my lack of communication. I am a youth pastor and we left for the first of two weeks of camps. I thought I loaded everything but apparently remembering my bookbag was not in the cards for me. I need to ask forgiveness and hope that everyone is still onboard and good to continue forward. I am so sorry.
I will get a post up today/tomorrow as I am recovering and doing laundry before heading back out to camp number 2.
I concur. 25 is way beyond us. A character with 1 rank, +3 class proficiency and +1 Int would still need a natural 20 to reach that.(even the bookish wizard with 18 Int would need 17+).
Lol, I'm just putting the check out there just incase.
You are all finally resting. You level up! Go ahead and roll your HD for this level. Also with that share with everyone what you're gaining this level. Any new spells, skills, abilities, etc. Once everyone has leveled up we will be able to continue on.
I am clear with your character. Just wanted to be sure about Esgean/Felix/Kevan before heading out. I am going to progress forward, if there is anything that the rest of you wanted to ask but hadn't feel free to do so before the weekend.
Seems like Felix covered all of Esgean's questions based on informations given. (Thanks Felix) Some of the questions asked your characters wouldn't know because you haven't been given that information. Please feel free to ask any questions your PCs might have, he is open to questions
You have to confirm it first. But it is a threat .
You will also have to Cast Defensively or it will provoke an AoO
Casting Defensively:
If you want to cast a spell without provoking any attacks of opportunity, you must make a concentration check (DC 15 + double the level of the spell you’re casting) to succeed. You lose the spell if you fail.
As it stands, Conrad is only down 2 HP from max. Brandark is down 2 Dex and Roya 3 Str. So not much damage dealt by the frogs.
I will check in with Perri to see what happened with him, but let's keep moving
EDIT: I did reach out to Perri. It looks like April 8th was the last time he posted with us, and it was back in April 10th when he posted in his main profile. His profiles/alias' have a ton of postings so I really do hope all is well. Any chance one of you know him in a way to connect with him outside of the boards?
Thank you to everyone who submitted a character. If I didn't have 2 other games I really would love to run a second table, but that is not possible right now. I wish someone would step forward and run a table for those who submitted characters. This was harder than selecting for my other two games because as I was reading I had longterm threads in mind with what you gave in your background.
Angus Elphinstone wrote:
A group of five? Have you considered dropping the 'Leadership Feat' (and Harbinger's upgrade, of course) and just running a normal table?
No I had not thought of that. I like this, but with a twist. Will the following 5 PCs head on over to the discussion tab as we get to know one another before we set off on the expedition.
Angus Elphinstone – Human Cavalier
Rhiann Sokol – Human Fighter (Unbreakable)
Rahaal - Human Herald Caller (Cleric) of Abadar
Elizabeth Ardoc – Human Druid of Gozrah
Alyssa Feuilinde – Half-Elf Fey Bloodline Sorcerer
Gyrfalcon – Oh man… I am so sorry. I am okay with Herald Caller. Just like any archetypes as long as you aren’t using two that change the same class feature you’ll be okay.
Dr. Kekyll Correct, Cleric is still a powerful option for the Theurge.
Trait / Drawback Yes, I did notice that they all lock you in regionally. I am okay if you keep the same idea of the trait but change location. I am a no on Drawbacks.
Somewhere someone asked if it was okay to use DM JR, yes 100% that is fine. Today is the deadline, so be sure to get your submissions in today. Best of luck all!
Okay, I have found a bit of time to dig into the questions. I am going to hit them as they were posted.
gyrfalcon With the Rulership Variant Channeling, the way I am reading it, is if you select that you’re a Positive Energy Channeler it does the Heal effect. If you select that you’re a Negative Energy Channeler it does the Harm effect.
I take it that you are going to be playing a Neutral cleric and channeling it as negative energy?
Text from d20pfsrd.com:
Channeling Variant verbiage.
A variant channeling either modifies positive channeled energy when used to heal or modifies negative energy when used to harm. When using positive energy to heal, affected creatures gain only half the normal amount of healing but also receive a specific beneficial effect. When channeling negative energy to harm, affected creatures take only half the normal damage but take an additional penalty or harmful effect; a successful saving throw negates the additional penalty or effect but does not reduce the damage any further. Creatures that would normally ignore the effect of a particular channel (such as undead with respect to a positive energy channel used to heal) ignore the variant effect of that channel.
Cleric Channel Energy verbiage.
A good cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships a good deity) channels positive energy and can choose to deal damage to undead creatures or to heal living creatures. An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships an evil deity) channels negative energy and can choose to deal damage to living creatures or to heal undead creatures. A neutral cleric of a neutral deity (or one who is not devoted to a particular deity) must choose whether she channels positive or negative energy.
If the above is true, then I am okay with the variant Harm effect. ½ damage, but also the chance of Daze them for a round. Make sure you have Selective Channeling so you don’t knock out your party.....
I will rule against the divine paragon archetype/deific obedience feat. Since it isn’t crucial for the build I’ll say that it comes down to a me thing.
Dr. Kekyll The Razmiran Priest seems cool. I am currently running 2 tables of Crypt of the Everflame and one of them will be continuing onto Mast of the Living God module. How fervently devoted will you be playing this character? They are a zealous cult for sure. I would be okay with the Razmiran Priest.
Mark Thomas 66 they both sound good, and would play very different roles on how the kingdom turns out. Also, like the image of the staff. If you haven’t be sure to link that image in the profile.
Wandering Wastrel It is very much like that. Though with the Legacy Items there are drawbacks (negatives to max HP, or saves or spell slots, etc…). I am going to have to dig into that scaling magic items section. That being said I would be okay with it being the spell book, but it would be something we’d have to talk about if selected.
Ever_Anon I think that your concept would be great in the campaign.
Heirloom Items Just so everyone is on the same page. These do not need to be the typical armor/weapon kind of items. Elizabeth Ardoc (LizArdoc) is using gardening tools as her heirloom choice. It can be anything under the sun. Except your family’s trusty +5 Vorpal Longsword…
Current Submissions
Angus Elphinstone – Human Cavalier
Alyssa Feuilinde – Half-Elf Fey Bloodline Sorcerer
Elizabeth Ardoc – Human Druid
Daniel Stewart – Human Crusader Cleric of Iomedae
Dr. Kykll - Garundi Razmiran Priest Sorcerer
Hustonj – Still Deciding
Mark Thomas 66 – Elenaril Altair Green Faith Druid or Rhiann Fighter (Unbreakable).
Mythicman19 - Barbarian from Iobaria potentially
Gryfalcon – Rahaal, cleric of Abadar
Wandering Wastrel – something with a dwarf cohort
Ever-Anon – Gnome First World Minstrel Bard
As gyrfalcon said, I am not going to have an easy time narrowing this down to three. If I was crazy I would try to run multiple tables… but I am not.
April 23rd is the deadline – if you are still on the fence or finishing up a background/build, be sure to have it finished by then.
Angus I did say core only. That is mainly for my ease of play and understanding. My group never really kept up with all the extra classes past the APG, and though I don't know everything about the core classes I do have the best understanding of them. That being said, it seems like a Cavalier could be an exception to that rule. There is something fantastical about a Cavalier riding through the Stolen Lands with his Banner waving behind him with his house's coat of arms on it.
I think the Trapper ranger would be an okay option if you do go that route. I would also entertain the ranger gaining the animal companion at 1st level instead of fourth for his horse mount Harbinger.
Alyssa I have played a Fey Bloodline Sorcerer and they are fun. When you say the Nymph for flavor purpose only, what do you mean?. What if you went with an Elf that leaned heavily into their fey background and the alternate racial traits? I don't know how I would give a CR 7 Nymph to someone at 1st level.
Thanks to the both of you for your questions. Hope those help.
I put everyone in a marching order behind Conrad, switching Conrad & Perri and keeping Jora out of the water for now. IF you want to move your tokens around, that is totally cool and go ahead and do that.
With a mighty swing Conrad breaks down the door with two swings. The waterlogged wood easily comes apart where the planks were originally held together. There are some planks that stay together and float in the water. (I’ll never let go, Jack)
The room is filled with water, probably as deep as the outside corridor. The chamber is in an advanced state of decay, with a gaping hole in the ceiling admitting a constant trickle of water. Three stone sarcophagi in this room are almost completely covered in a thick carpet of moss and fungus.
On the south side of the wall near the furthest sarcophagi is another wooden door.
Conrad:
You aren’t fully sure, but it when you broke the door down it looked as if something moved or fell off of the furthest sarcophagi.
For everyone (OOC Info):
This is stuff that your characters would not know, but impacts how you move forward so RP accordingly.
The floor in here continues to slope and the water gets deeper. In this chamber the water is 3-ft deep. Medium sized creatures/PCs count the area as difficult terrain, no 5-ft steps & half speed. Small sized creatures/PCs must make swim checks to move around the chamber.
What does your character do?
Character Status: Perri -2 HP | Conrad -7 HP | Brandark -2 Dex | Roya -3 STR
Be sure to move your token to line up with your post.
Retracing your steps back, you find no doors or chambers until you get back to the beginning platform from this level. As you return, the writing that Miron spoke of is there for all to see.
To the south you might take your east, to rest and reflect on Kassen’s deeds. To the east lies the wheel, to open the gate. To the west is the resting place of Kassen, hero of the Fangwood.
Looking and listening to the other two directions from this chamber, you hear nothing coming from the south.
To the east you see that the hallway splits in two directions, both are flooded with water as the path descends gradually. The north path leads to a door that looks waterlogged. To the south, it looks like it opens to a larger chamber.
What does your character do?
Character Status: Perri -2 HP | Conrad -7 HP | Brandark -2 Dex | Roya -3 STR
Be sure to move your token to line up with your post.
In the “Entering the Chamber” spoiler… As you entered the room and saw the murals it should say that “They are NOW scorched and ruined.” Not “They are NOT scorched and ruined.”
The group regathers themselves. There is indeed evil within these walls as Joras mentioned. This is harder than you could have ever imagined, or than it was even intended to be. But there is a goal. Dimira, Roldare’s sister who could still be trapped in here by the voice of death. And getting the flame from Kassen’s final resting place… if that is even a priority.
Looking back into the room with the chamber long reflecting pool, your light source catches the bars of a heavy iron portcullis blocking the way. Not even the smallest among you would be able to squeeze through. If you want to try to lift it I need 2 STR checks from each of those who want to attempt it.
Looking into the chamber beyond the bars, the room is a catacomb similar to the one that you faced the zombies in previously.
INT check DC 11:
You remember that in the first chamber of this floor that there was a pillar in the middle and spiraling from it, it said; [i]To the south you might take your ease, to rest and reflect on Kassen’s deeds. To the east lies the wheel, to open the gate. To the west is the resting place of Kassen, hero of the Fangwood.[i]

Oh that's my bad. All I meant is that there is only 4 PCs vs the 6 we started with to help with forward momentum. All is well with me botting them. I just plug them in from time to time as background/support for the four of you.
Hey all! Sorry for my absence. This week has been crazy. My mom had another round of chemo, which was expected. My dad was in the hospital again and had to have a heart catheter done which turned out all clear. So there are still unknowns with my dad and his health. Also this week there was a drive by shooting at our junior high, they were using orbeez guns which are little water pellets. So there was fall out from that I was handling with my students and their parents.
All of this to say that I'm sorry I haven't said anything until now.
Let's rally the troops and I will make a post tomorrow to continue our journey. If anyone doesn't respond on here today/tomorrow let's try reaching out to them.
Felix swings at the skeleton in front of him, but the flail swings wide. Rejke & Kevan attack their prospective skeletons. Kevan misses, Rejke’ bite and claw attacks land, but the claws appear to be ineffective.
Helping save resources Jhessa places a hand on Esgean as she is about to use a cure spell to finish off one of the skeletons. Jhessa steps up and in the burst of light the two remaining skeletons fall in battle. Combat over
The bones are so brittle that they slowly fade to dust. You see a tarnished silver necklace on the ground in the remains.
Appraise DC 15:
This silver necklace is worth 200 GP and it is in a style that is about 200 years old.

Hey all, this week has been crazy. My mom continued her chemo treatment then my dad is in the hospital since 10a yesterday. I will have a post up today.
The only people who can only do a single move action is Aldmus & Jhessa and that is because they are nauseated. The room is “filled with smoke” but mechanically only breaks down to a -4 perception per the adventure.
@Herskor I am going to move you since you said you wanted to attack and move.
@felix I am going to 5-ft step you since you said you were going to move there once Herskor moves.
@Esgean total defensed but not moved? TD is only a standard. If you
@Kevan You can take a second move action and where you are would not provoke an AoO so I will go ahead and move you, that might change things for Esgean, maybe not.
Will be here, but there's likely to be a delay of a day or so from me on responses. A friend of mine who's been battling cancer for some time passed away today. Not a complete surprise, but still upsetting, obviously.
@Aldmus I am so sorry to hear this. I will be praying for you and their family.
I am sorry I've been away. I have had 2 sick kids. passing around ear infections and strep has been a blast. I will get a post up today/this evening.
Joras is quick to act and rushes to Perri’s side. Conjuring forth his arcane powers he can heal Perri, causing him to wake up. +6 HP to Perri. (Good Roll!)
Conrad is overwhelmed by the situation, partially closing himself off. As he recovers, he searches the man’s pockets. He does find a few items that could be useful. He finds a dagger, something everyone in Kassen carries. Typically, more a tool than a defensive weapon. And from the looks of the blade this man didn’t have the opportunity to draw it. He also finds a small point purse; 8 copper and 2 silver. The man is also wearing a good winter cloak that looks to be less than a season old. One more thing you notice is that there is no wedding ring on his hand, no family left behind.
As Conrad and Miron check out the nest, you discover nothing of value or use.

Quick update on Roya. I did reach out and she let me know that she fell back under the weather again. I told her to rest up and take care of herself and not to worry about the game and that I would bot Roya until she is ready to come back. I say this so that you guys won't try to do any scenes with her and sit waiting for a response.
Let me know what you guys would like to do in this room and I can plan from there.
Woah… Miron turned into a half-elf unchained rogue for a moment!
As Miron mentions the light coming from the room besides where the statue stood, everyone notices the faint light. With your own light it is easy to tell how you missed it coming into the chamber.
Joras makes his way back into the wooden statue chamber and it appears that the beetle paid no mind to him and continues at its own task at hand.
Conrad drinks a potion to gain some healing. +2 HP (that CLW must have been old and flat)
Taking 10 While listening at the door besides the wooden statue, Joras and anyone else with ranks in Perception does not hear anything on the other side of the door.

Fun side note, for Christmas I went ahead and found and purchased the 2nd & 3rd module for the Price of Immortality trilogy. It looks like this is going to be a fun time!
Since my kids are finally back in school, seemed like Christmas break was 2 months long, I am going to be getting back into the routine of posting every morning. Please be active as we continue exploring the tomb of Kassen
Perri puts on a phenomenal display of strength, with others stepping up to aid him (Miron/Brandark taking 10) and the group is able to get the wooden statue back on top of its original platform. Once in place the group hears the same mechanical sound as a pressure plate on the platform lowers. The stones rotate and the stairs spin back in place and it now is easy to travel between the two levels in this room.
Botting Roya for healing
Roya moves to Conrad and spontaneously cast a curative spell and uses a burst of healing from Erastil. With those two healings, Conrad’s eyes snap open.

Felix attacks with his long sword, finishing off the wooden statue. With a loud crash it topples to the ground with each of the tower shields sliding different directions. Combat Over
Oh, I thought you had posted up above that the golem's AC was 16. That's why I posted that Felix had missed.
That was herskor with his shield in hand. More of a note for me next time I posted his bot or if he came back.
Hey all! Sorry for the delay... things have been crazy with the new baby and all that comes with that. We just got back from his first doc appointment and all is well. I will get the gameplay post going.

Hey thanks all! Funny thing, after I posted that post she had a doc appointment and decided that she needed to come in that afternoon and be induced. We are not playing the waiting game but mom and baby are doing well.
Just wanted to share a little bit of info with the table. Any day now my wife is expecting to deliver our 3rd child. His due date on Dec 4th. This might change the consistency of when throughout the day I post, but with the dungeon crawl we are in I do not expect to miss a posting vs a city based RP scenes. Thanks for any grace you show while the timing of postings might, and probably will, change.
From behind the wooden door the group continues to hear the voice from within; “Dimira… they know her… Couldn’t be… tricks of the dead one… the dead one who speaks...”
With that you hear what sounds like something scooting on the floor followed by a slam against the door
Roya or anyone with DC 15 K-Religion check (take 10 allowed if trained):
You take a few moments to think on your studies and while most of the undead you have read about, zombies or skeletons, are mostly mindless besides simple task. Though there are a few things like Ghouls, mummies or other more powerful undead that do have the intelligence to speak.

Hey just so everyone knows with Thanksgiving in America, those state sides might be busy. I am one of those people. I will be posting now, but might not be able to again until Saturday.
Like I had said before, the map isn't 100% exact or to scale. It is more to show large landmarks along the way that you are to come across. Your characters would know from tales told of those who have done this before that it is located at the bottom of the gorge.
The group starts to set up a rope using the grappling hook and a tree when Brandark the dwarf begins to sit on his butt and slide down the hill. Everyone watches him go down and he almost makes it before his pack hits a rock and causes the dwarf to flip forward end over end and disappear at a drop off just at the end of the gorge. Brandark takes -10 HP and -4 Dex
The rest of the group decides to set up the rope to help them get halfway down the slope with ease. As they begin to travel down the gorge Perri trips and begins to slide end over end. Hitting a rock along the way. Perri eventually stops himself but slowly slides down the slope and off the lip. Perri takes -10 HP and -1 Dex
The rest of the group makes their way to the bottom of the slope, you notice both Perri and Brandark, while in pain, aren’t focused on their fall due to the horrific sight that lays just north of where the group lands.
And archway of stone is set into the side of a small hill at the bottom of the valley. Moss has overgrown many of the details, but one is still quite clear. The keystone of the arch is carved with a flame symbol with a stylized rune in the middle. Beyond the archway is a darkened tunnel that leads to a pair of massive wooden doors, one of which is slightly ajar.
A pair of horses and a trio of ponies lie slaughtered next to the archway, each corpse still tied to a post set into the ground nearby. A swarm of flies hangs lazily in the air above.

Hey guys, it's all good. Thanks for saying something. We are all human and we will all make mistakes for however long this adventure (and beyond) takes us!
Why not dredge up a post from just over 5 years ago...
Part 1: Journey to the Crypt Question/Spoiler Within:
On page 7 of the adventure under "Unfortunate Bandit" it says the bandit was killed by a gigantic serpent that lives in the Gray Lake.
It does not say what it is and I know the party couldn't handle the fight now, but I was just curious of what others might have used for the gigantic serpent.
Oh man, I apologize. With the Initiative tracker at the bottom of my post only go if your PCs name is in bold. I will use your post as what they do on their turn.
--Brandark Free Action Speaks in undercommon asking for freedom to pass with no trouble.
--Conrad draws his weapons and goes into a total defense stance Difficult terrain, no 5-ft step
4th of Neth – 4709AR
Three of the creatures move forward, unresponsive to Brandark’s comment. Two stop half way single move action and let loose two javelins towards Conrad. Both miss as they crash into the ground besides them. The third continues his move forward double move and stops infront of Conrad with a cruel looking great axe.
Joras begins playing a lullaby I am going to assume it would be for the two who are grouped together that threw their javelins, if that needs to change let me know both of the creatures begin to have heavy eye lids, the second one is able to shake it off.
Miron case Mage Armor on himself and readies his spear.
With the creatures fast approaching, Roya retrieves her bow and gets ready to attack.
Perri uses his bill to reach out and attempt to trip the one that moved face to face with Conrad and brings the foe easily to the ground.
A few different things to clarify on how I will be doing it, and I probably should have stated this from the get go.
When we are doing overland travel, I am going to use people's "passive perception," essentially taking 10 for everyone. It's too hard to do it otherwise, I don't want to roll 100 perception checks as we go. Now, if there is something specific you are looking for. A type of plant/animal/rock/etc then yes roll a check and let me know what it is you are looking for and we will go from there.
With Joras, there was nothing at that time that he would have seen outside of what was already explained about the area.
Also, when it comes to initiative I will roll those, I do it behind the dm screen and then just lay out the initiative order at the bottom of the post.
I will also do this will saves/skill checks (especially social skills)/etc for things that would normally bog down a PBP combat or scene.
there is/will be a lot of trust that goes into this, but you can rest assure that I am not a me vs you DM. I want us all to have a great time with this module and what comes beyond.
