It's taken me some time just to work up to this. It's funny how I find it harder to do on the internet rather than face to face.

After speaking with my therapist recently, I've come to the conclusion that I need to cut down on the things that I'm beholden to. I need to end this game, sadly. I'm more than willing to help anyone who wishes to take over, if anyone can be found.

I've had a great time roleplaying with you all. If anyone has time on tuesday evenings and would like to play in the roll20 game I'm still running, let me know.

Omoro's arrow misses its mark by a wide margin, his haste throwing off his aim. One of the women falls fast asleep while trying to stand. She tumbles to the ground, her dagger clattering on the ground.

Combat - Round 1 (Tower Girls)

One of the three moves over to her sleeping companion and shakes her awake. "Wake up! Don't fall prey to their tricks!" The other woman shakes off sleepiness, but is slow to move. She does nothing this turn. The third woman flings her dagger at Nadja, landing a glancing blow as Nadja tries to dodge the blade. Nadja takes 3 damage.

Combat - Round 1 (Len)

Len dives further down the hallway, taking cover behind the far wall of the opening.

Hallway Outside the Mess Hall

Len starts ahead of everyone, creeping along as she looks over at the three women in the dining area. You each notice that they're sitting around a table, with plates of food nearby, but each holds a hand of cards and small stacks of coin sit on the table. They're busy with a game of chance.

As you all creep by, a noise draws the attention of one of the women, who looks over her shoulder. She seems startled for a moment, turning about and gesturing to the others. "Len? Embyr? What're ya' doin'?" One spots Calendir and then Jotune, "Men! They's done betrayed us!" The women draw daggers.

I'm cutting back my games on the Paizo boards in an effort to reduce the anxiety I'm having that's keeping me from posting. This game is the only game that I'm running that I'll be holding onto. I'd like to put out a role call and see who all is still here. I can't run anything without any players.

Well, I've come to the point that I think it's necessary for me, but I'm dropping this game. I'm sure that it's become an likely option in everyone's mind, though. Ahhh... I'm glad to see that you've managed to find another GM. It makes posting this a bit late, but easier none-the-less. I'm trimming down games on the boards to see if I can slim it down to something I can handle given my current state. Unfortunately, I was going to be dropping this one anyways, so you all finding another GM means that it can continue. I'm happy to hear that. :)

If there's anything that GM Elton needs from me to take over or anything that will make it easier, please let me know. I've been keeping an eye on the boards, just unable to push through the anxiety to post. I wish you all the best.

Hallway Outside the Mess Hall

Len puts a finger to her lips as she creeps into the hallway to the right. As you follow, voices can be heard from within a room lit by the flickering light of torches. Len moves up to the corner and peeks around the side, examining the room for a bit, nearly losing her grip on the wall momentarily. She looks back to everyone, "Quiet, an' I think we can sneak past 'em. They're lookin' distracted an' a bit drunk at th' moment."

Give me Stealth checks if you're following Len's advice or other plans if you're doing something else.

A grindylow looks like a goblin from the waist up and a mass of octopus tentacles below the waist.

My understanding is that there are two types of cover: cover and full cover. You can't see through full cover, so they have normal cover.

The tip of the bow is 20 feet into the water. The ship looks to be around 100 feet long, putting it at around the same size as your own ship. That'd put the stern around 120 feet out.

You could probably try sneaking in. It wouldn't be that hard to avoid being seen by those on the deck, but the ones swimming about pose an issue. There's not a lot of cover between the grasses your hiding in and the ship.

Len heads into the hallway beyond, wincing from the pain that the movement causes her. She stops for a moment in the hallway, pointing down a short passage into a nearly completely collapsed room. "In there's somma th' stuff we've stashed."

Let me know if you explore the room. I'll give a description.

When you're ready, Len heads down the hallway to a staircase that leads further down into the complex.

Marshalling Room

The stairs lead down into a room filled with makeshift barricades. They look to be constructed from damaged furniture, barrels, spare sacks of goods, and other similar materials. Three passages lead off from this room, one in each direction. The stairs exit on the fourth (western). A couple of lanterns hang from hooks driven into the walls, illuminating the room in soft yellow light. The passages are similarly lit with torches and even candles in a couple of places.

Len puts a finger to her lips and points to the right (south). You can hear talking coming from a brightly lit chamber just off that passage. She wishpers to the group, "That's th' dinin' hall. Past it, there's more stairs leadin' down. That's where you'll be findin' Ayala." She looks around for a moment and then points to the left (north). "Most sleep thatta way, plus there's Karisa down there. She's been 'blessed' by Ayala an' takes care o' th' rats." Len then points to the passage directly ahead (east), "That's the storeroom fer th' food. 'Nother empty room with paintin's in it, too."

Day 27 - 28 Sarenith 4712

Jungle Encampment

Ayaki, Four Skulls, and Ragnar creep closer to the brightly colored fabric in the jungle. The stench of rotted meat begins to waft through the air as the come into sight of the pavilion tent strung up crudely in a large tree in the swamp. It's obvious at first glance that whoever did it has no idea how to properly set the large pavilion, but seems to have made do with whatever they had found at hand.

Visible inside the pavilion is mass of bodies of various animals and a few people, strung up as if to dry. Small piles of bloody bones lie nearby. Near the tree, trade goods, barrels, and a chest in a pile, splattered with dried blood. A pair of humanoids in armor made from the hides of animals and less distinguishable leather tend to the meat. As they work, one looks in your direction and catches sight of something (presumably you). He hoots something to his fellow and both reach for clubs studded with shards of bone.

Information on the Shipwreck: The wreck of the Infernus is on the beach a good 20 feet into the water (the dunes at the top of the beach are about 40 feet from the water so the ship is about 60 feet away from you currently). A bit of looking will show that the port side has a long line torn out of it and the entire ship is pitched heavily to the starboard side. Any of the monsters on the midship aren't going to be visible, but the ones on the forecastle and aftcastle are going to be, but under cover from the railing and height.

She looks at Nadja and nods. The other woman glares at the lot of you, but the gag in mouth keeps her from talking. Len slowly and painfully stands up, her wounds making the process difficult and slow. "Fightin'? I'm not in much condition ta' be doin' that after th' beatin' ya'll gave me. Some healin'd be preferred or doin' somethin' ta' help out tha' don' involve me usin' a weapon."

Taking a look at the ship, it seems to be in decent condition, but unfortunately, without closer inspection, you don't think you'll be able to give an accurate appraisal if any of the parts will be salvageable.

Aoro:
Ro returns to you and tells you that there are only three on the deck of the ship, but that several more (it was difficult for him to determine) moving about in the waters around the ship.

Captain's Quarters

"Kuru?" Sandara's face turns sour. "Demon-worshipping cannibals. This ain't a positive change to what's goin' on." She shakes her head, her red locks spilling about under her hat. "If they've taken someone, they know we're here. I doubt we can get the ship in shape to leave in time to avoid a fight and gatherin' wood just got a whole lot more dangerous."

Traveling the Trail Inland

From the other side of the stream, the colored fabric further into the jungle isn't much more immediately obvious. You'll need to apporach it further to determine what exactly is there.

She nods to Calendir, "A'right, but what of 'er?" Len motions towards her companion, who seems to be stirring. The effects of the spell cast at her a wearing off.

Day 28 - 29 Sarenith 4712

The group heads down the mountain path with the chelish sailors in tow. They carry their muskets at the ready as the group leaves the pallisade. It's fairly obvious that they haven't left the safety of their little fort and have been under siege since they wrecked on the island.

The trip around the field takes about half an hour as the sun continues its ascent. Strange trilling noises and rumbling dirt come from within the field, but whatever is inside as you skirt the fields doesn't seem to want to pursue you out.

The wreck of the Infernus lies on the beach directly ahead of you, but everyone takes cover behind a bank of tall grasses as movement on the ship indicates that it hasn't been abandoned. A figure on the pitched ship becomes visible as it crests the edge. The small figure with tentacles instead of legs looks out onto the island. The creature seems to look up at the fort for a bit and then wander back onto the deck and out of sight. It seems that the grindylows still remain at the ship.

I'm not planning on abandoning it, but RL problems are interfering. I've been fighting depression for sometime, and while it is coming under control, my anxiety has shifted to my gaming. It's becoming crippling, although I'm trying to compensate... Just not succeeding very well. I'm willing to end this is that's what everyone would prefer, but I'd rather keep going. It'll probably be a rocky for a little bit longer, but I can't really promise anything, sadly.

Nope, but RL issues, mostly mental, are really giving me trouble with any of my games at the moment. I'm sorry for the huge pauses. My depression is coming under control, but the anxiety has shifted and is really kicking my ass with this.

The Deck of the Ship

Quinn quickly moves to heal Badger, channeling the power of her goddess through her holy symbol. Everyone feels the power of life wash over them, invigorating them a bit, but it most noticeably affects Badger. Her wounds heal somewhat, alleviating much of the woman's pain.

When Gan returns, Sandara nods to him, "She'll live. The wounds've healed, but whatever she's seem has... unsettled her." She gestures to one of the other crew, "Help me carry her." She looks back to Gan, "We should get her inside and then I need to talk to you." The grim look on Sandara's face tells that she doesn't bear good news.

Traveling the Trail Inland

It doesn't require a check to cross the stream.

@Everyone except Four Skulls: The brightly colored cloth seems to be part of a pavilion tent that's strung up amongst the trees. It's definitely not something you'd expect to see on an island as such. The cloth is somewhat faded, but the trees may have protected is somewhat. A number of stains dot the cloth.

Ragnar easily hops over the stream, landing solidly on the other side.

Len shakes her head towards Jotune, "I've got no silver myself." She then looks over to Nadja, "There's more that've been 'gifted' by Ayala, but she's th' true one. Ya' gonna need silver for all've 'em."

Day 28 - 29 Sarenith 4712

The night passes rather uneventfully. Fat, black flies pester everyone at the pallisade, painfully biting and drinking blood when they can during the night, but Ivy and his men light a fire and huddle about it, letting the smoke drive away the insects. Ivy also shows everyone a small freshwater spring hidden behind the short hut in the center of the pallisade.

Morning dawns and the flies seem to retreat. The nocturnal insects largely disappear as they find someplace to hide from the rising sun. Ivy approaches Aoro as everyone wakes from the night. "Captain, we'll be ready to head out shortly. What's your orders?"

The Deck of the Ship

The crew begins the slow and grueling work of attempting to claim enough fit wood to repair the ship. After a few hours of scouting the nearby beach, one of the pirates comes running back up the beach. It's Badger and she's in a near panic as she rushes up to the ship, nearly plowing into the few pirates near the hole in the side.

Quinn catches the panicked woman, but it quickly becomes evident as to why she's nearly hysterical with fear. She's bleeding heavily, missing a large chunk on flesh from her shoulder and numerous other more shallow bites. "K-Ku-Kuru..." She whispers to herself.

Traveling the Trail Inland

The group continues to travel south, following along the path. The most notable thing about it is the lack of wildlife, with the exception of the occasional bird and the numerous buzzing insects. The air seems to be constantly filled with them. The path reaches a small stream (small enough that with a running start, everyone can easily jump it) that runs through the swamp, thick with scum and the occasional rotted log that sticks up from the water like a broken spear. While traveling along the stream, a sudden blot of bright colors appear amidst the trees on the other side of the stream. It appears to be cloth of some sort, possibly strung up, but it's difficult to tell between the trees.

Len's eyes go wide while Nadja speaks, the impact of the witch's words causing causing the woman a great deal of stress and confusion. "Fine, if what yer sayin's true..." She looks the group over, "Ya' got silver? Ya' gonna need it."

Day 27 - 28 Sarenith 4712

Ivy nods to Aoro, "Be fine by me, an' I'm sure th' other two'd be willin'." He glances at the other two men, who both nod their agreement.

Ivy looks to Tark, "Black flies tha' som'times collect inta swarms. They're annoyin' 'less th' swarm's big 'nough. Lil' blood drinkers."

He turns to regard Sunny for a moment, "Not th' bashful type, eh?" He points to the south. "Th' wreck's on th' beach, but th' monsters've taken a likin' to it. We can't get near 'er right now."

Round 4 - Wrap Up

Ragnar hauls on his rope, pulling Four Skulls closer to land.

Noche'Wa sinks his feet in the mud, the rope racing along his back in order to push with his leg. Thus anchored, he signals Ayaki: "PUUUUUUUUUUUL!" and pulls with all he has, trying not to slip. Ayaki helps Noche'Wa to pull on the rope, adding her strength to his.

Four Skulls holds both ropes firmly while trying to pull himself out of the bog while still submerged. In the end, adding his strength to Ragnar's mighty gets him to 5ft from the shore, however, Noche'Wa's rope is ripped from his grasp and both Ayaki and Noche'Wa are sent crashing backwards to the ground.

Under the waters the skeleton makes one last hungry attack at the frog before returning to the great beyond and disappearing in a grey mist. One of its claws finds purchase in the flesh of the frog, raking long, bloody tears in its face and head.

Jove turns his evil eye on the frog once more, this time willing its estimation of its own durability to rise, for it to be fooled into stepping into blows rather than avoiding them, and then cackles once more to bind the shadows tight around the frog's dull mind. In between fits of laughter, he calls to the undead thing in the water, "Eat the nice juicy frog I'm softening up for you, not Skulls!"

The injured frog is rendered unconsciousness by the undead creature moments before the thing disappears in a puff of grey mist. The one still under the surface of the bog and chasing Four Skulls seems to notice that the other has stopped moving and begins to head away from him. The thrashing of the first frog's body is confirmation that these frogs are both scavengers and cannibals.

The one still under the surface of the bog and chasing Four Skulls seems to notice that the other has stopped moving and begins to head away from him. The thrashing of the first frog's body is confirmation that these frogs are both scavengers and cannibals.

@Omoro: You can easily have recovered your rope and used it to tie up the other tower girl.

'Len looks up at the group after being tied up. Her wounds are nearly causing her to pass out, but she seems to be barely holding onto consciousness. She says nothing the entire time, mostly looking dejected. The first is stirred to attentiveness by Nadja's slap, "Wha'?!" She looks about for a moment before noticing "Embyr" and the rest of the party. Momentarily testing her bounds, she grunts, "Invaders, eh, Embyr? Guess that was right, although ya' left out your part in it." She sighs and relaxes a bit, "Whatcha' lot wantin' here?"

You don't see any signs of other inhabitants here.

Ivy nods to Aoro, "If th' last group was three ghouls, then I'm thinkin' tha's all of 'em. I know tha' damned priest changed a few 'imself, but most of th' crew were killed by th' grindylows." He pauses for a moment, "Oh, an' tha' damned bug in the fields."

Ivy nods to Torque, "Look, we'd be willin' ta' help ya' in exchange for gettin' off this island. Ain't nothin' here but crabs, grindylows, and bugs." He looks to Aoro, paying the rest little attention.
