Delay for Four Skulls to grab the rope.

Noche'Wa stands beside Ragnar and grabs at the rope to pull Four Skulls. He blanches as a skeleton rises from the waters: "Desna save us! Four Skulls, hurry, this place is a tomb!!" he doesn't have time to think whether it made any sense to have animals live beside undead. For now, a companion's life is at risk; a sacred task.

Ouch! Ok, Noche'Wa has a rope. He'll use it too, hoping it will bring Four Skulls faster out.

Ayaki will help Noche'Wa in his ropely efforts.

Don´t know what to roll.

Shade Psion 18

@Noche'Wa: It's a ranged touch attack roll to get the rope out to Four Skulls. I'll apply the roll to your +3 modifier, and a -4 penalty for an improvised "weapon" and a -4 modifier for it Four Skulls being 20 ft out. It's an AC 5 to hit the square. Everything totals out at a 4, which misses the square. Scatter: 1d8 ⇒ 1 The rope falls 10 ft short of where Four Skulls is.

@Ayaki: If you went before Noche'Wa, you could've rolled an Aid Another check to give him a +2 to hit on the ranged touch attack roll. However, since you go afterwards, I'll have your character help pull the rope in and ready it for a throw the next turn (move action). You can also perform an Aid Another for next turn, if you wish. I'll let you roll it if you want. You'll still get your normal set of actions next turn.

Round 2 - Giant Frogs

One of the skeleton's claws finds purchase in the giant frog's flesh, causing it to croak out in pain. The frog snaps back at the skeleton as it sinks into the bog, its teeth grating along armor and bone, but inflicting no lasting damage.

The other frog swims closer to Four Skulls, disappearing underneath the bog to pursue the sinking oracle.

Round 2 - Wrap Up

Ragnar unknots one side of the rope swing and throws the end to Four Skulls. The rope lands right next to Four Skulls, within easy reach.

Noche'Wa follows suit, throwing a rope of his own to Four Skulls, but it falls decidedly short, much closer to shore.

Using his abilities inward to channel the dark powers of the grave Four Skulls brings forth the curse of the damned to his enemies.
"Ancestors curse you, filthy beast."

Then he grabs the rope and tries to pull himself out of the bog but cant avoid going under.

Suddenly the bog waters start to boil around the giant frog near Four Skulls as a skeleton emerges in front of it craving for the blood of the living.

"FFLEEEEEESSH...."

Jove concentrates on the frog approaching Four Skulls, willing its perception of the world to be off by a fraction, enough to render its aim less effective. Jove's eyes blacken while he sends shadows visible only to himself to hex the frog. Then he lets off a loud, giddy laugh which strengthens the shadows binding the frog.

Did the frog I hexed earlier make its Will save or not?

Shade Psion 18

@Four Skulls: Since the rope is somewhat anchored, I think a DC 15 Strength check (the same as needed to pull you out) would be sufficient to move along the rope 5 feet as a move action. Armor check penalty wouldn't apply to the check (just in case it was a question).

@Jove: It did not make the check. It's Hexed for 9 rounds. Poor frog... Note: You can feel free to look at the rolls under any Dice spoilers I make. It's just to keep dice rolls organized or to keep them from bloating the post. The only rolls I don't want people to read or react to will be marked "DM's Secret Rolls". :)

Bones Oracle 3, HP 26/26, CMD 16, AC 18 T11 F17, F +2 R +2 W +3, Init +3, Perc +4

How many ropes did I get? I know I grabbed Ragnar's one. Not sure about the second one. It just got to me now, right?.

Shade Psion 18

@Four Skulls: Correct. You've got two ropes at the moment. When someone pulls on them, should they make the DC 15 Strength check, you need to make a DC 10 Strength check to keep ahold of the rope. If both succeed, you move 5 feet on that character's turn. In addition, I'm allowing you to make DC 15 Strength checks on your turn to try and pull yourself 5 feet along the rope as a move action. (Just reiterating for clarity) Also, I have no problem with you taking the time to tie a rope to you, but you'd have to let go of one and take a standard action to tie it to yourself.

Round 3 - Giant Frogs

The frog on the surface is struck by Jove's magic enhanced scream, but manages to snap at the submerged skeleton that had raked more bloody lines in its flesh. The frog's teeth find little purchase on the bones of the skeleton and inflict no registrable damage.

Four Skulls feels something bump against him in the thing sludge underneath. The second frog has caught up to him.

Round 3 - Wrap Up

Ragnar pulls on the rope, trying to drag Four Skulls out of the sand. Adrenaline pumping, he lets loose his fury to aid in the task, but it is not enough to loosen the grip the thick bog has on his companion.

Follwing the rope underwater and the thin trail of bubbles quickly approaching a certain spot, Noche'Wa tries again with the rope. "Ah! Four Skulls, if you can, try with this rope, you don't have to pull up now!" Hopefully, his sunken companion can hear him. Edited b/c Four Skulls didn't manage to surface. Hope you don't mind, Noche'Wa. :)

Having sunk under the water line Four Skulls focus all his energies in pulling the rope and dragging himself out of the bog. The thick bog stifles his efforts, but he luckily grabs a sinking line of rope, giving him an extra lifeline.

Ayaki tries to bring the rope with Four Skulls on it in, but the stubborn bog stifles her efforts as well.

Jove pales a bit at the skeleton's arrival. Turning to it and gesturing wildly, Jove lets out a terrible scream audible only to it. The skeleton having sunk, the only creature remaining on the surface is one of the giant frogs. The spell is released towards the frog, rather than the skeleton, which had taken the place of the sunken undead.

The frog on the surface is struck by Jove's magic enhanced scream, but manages to snap at the submerged skeleton that had raked more bloody lines in its flesh. The frog's teeth find little purchase on the bones of the skeleton and inflict no registrable damage.

Traveling the Trail Inland

The group continues to travel south, following along the path. The most notable thing about it is the lack of wildlife, with the exception of the occasional bird and the numerous buzzing insects. The air seems to be constantly filled with them. The path reaches a small stream (small enough that with a running start, everyone can easily jump it) that runs through the swamp, thick with scum and the occasional rotted log that sticks up from the water like a broken spear. While traveling along the stream, a sudden blot of bright colors appear amidst the trees on the other side of the stream. It appears to be cloth of some sort, possibly strung up, but it's difficult to tell between the trees.

Day 27 - 28 Sarenith 4712

The Deck of the Ship

The crew begins the slow and grueling work of attempting to claim enough fit wood to repair the ship. After a few hours of scouting the nearby beach, one of the pirates comes running back up the beach. It's Badger and she's in a near panic as she rushes up to the ship, nearly plowing into the few pirates near the hole in the side.

Quinn catches the panicked woman, but it quickly becomes evident as to why she's nearly hysterical with fear. She's bleeding heavily, missing a large chunk on flesh from her shoulder and numerous other more shallow bites. "K-Ku-Kuru..." She whispers to herself.

Noche'Wa is uneasy about the lack of wildlife. From time to time, he looks quizzically at his snake companion, looking to it for answers, but the snake remains silent, its eyes staring without blinking at the druid.

He points to the colors: "What could it be?"
