Accepting that we simply do not know how the magic fountain retains its power, Caius will stow his 8 hour potion.

"How is this pool possible? Could some artifact be creating this pool?"
He peers into the waters, trying to discern any items or markings within.

"They are fleeing that way!" As Caius looks through the door into the large chamber beyond, he points to the south stairway.

Under Verilich's guidance, Caius advanced into the room to stand before the "secret" door. Double move.

Caius moves across the cave to the opposite entrance, drawing forth a javelin as he advances. He hurls it passed Verilich and goblin blocking the far exit at the spider beyond. Deadly Aim.

Caius, already seated near the fire with a tankard of ale in hand, raises an eyebrow as Khalid descends the stairs, the satchel clutched oddly to his side. At the first sight of the twitch beneath the fabric, Caius sets down his drink and leans forward slightly, his molten orange eyes narrowing—not in alarm, but in appraisal.

As the third arm is revealed, if only for a moment, Caius utters a low grunt. He doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t scowl. Just tilts his head, as though considering the implications like a craftsman sizing up a new tool.

He lifts his tankard again, voice steady with that ever-present edge of sarcasm. “I suppose if it helps you block blades and brew faster, I’ll withhold judgment.” He takes a drink, then adds with a smirk, “Though if that thing reaches for my ale, it’s war.”

“Didn’t write a thing. He glances toward the bar. “Get Andel a strong drink, and he might turn our rat-slaying, shard-chasing, third-arm-growing mess into something the Decemvirate can stomach.”

Caius gestures toward the pool... "Perhaps...."

"If you would, dwarf-friend."

Caius takes a five foot step and braces for the swarm to reach him.

Caius will use a move action to "study" the bats and then prepare to face them as they emerge from the room.

"We should also search that pool..."

Caius moved forward to emerge from the tunnel into the chamber.

"We do not have what we are here to retrieve. Retreat is defeat," Caius declares as he begins to bandage his own aching hand.

Caius will do his puzzle first. Using the paw of the dead wererat he begins to slap letters. He begins by touching the the paw to letter L then S, then T followed by E, then T followed by N. If all goes well with door one, Caius will proceed to door two spelling out THEY SEE.

Caius steps up to the LISTEN door and makes ready to rearrange the letters to SILENT. "I suggest we finish them both at the same time. Who would like to do the honors with THE EYES door? Everyone else should get a safe distance away and make ready to fight the creatures sure to appear as they did with the puzzle box!"

Caius rummages through the environ and inspects the Thassilonian backdrop.
