A bank of fog billows out from the point you designate. The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can't use sight to locate the target).

Boram can throw a smoke bomb, providing concealment in a 10' radius and blocking gaze attacks for anyone not in melee range (the way I read it, at least - Kludde, can you confirm?).

Explosive Bombs:
The alchemist’s bombs now have a splash radius of 10 feet rather than 5 feet (see Throw Splash Weapon). Creatures that take a direct hit from an explosive bomb catch fire, taking 1d6 points of fire damage each round until the fire is extinguished. Extinguishing the flames is a full-round action that requires a Reflex save. Rolling on the ground provides the target with a +2 to the save. Dousing the target with at least 2 gallons of water automatically extinguishes the flames.

Beginning to prepare for their romp through the Undermarket, Boram draws two vials from his belt pouch, saying, "I know magic as well...of a sort."

He proceeds to drink the contents of one vial, then imbibe - and spit out - the contents of the other. Immediately, his skin takes on a rough appearance.

Drink an extract of alchemical allocation, using it with a CL12 potion of barkskin (AC is now 25 for two hours).

He pulls a bead from his pouch, then, and places it in the first vial; the vial proceeds to fill with a liquid indistinguishable from the original contents. The halfling then fishes the bead out of the vial and places it back in his belt pouch.

Restore the alchemical allocation with a level 2 boro bead.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, he drinks the contents of a third vial and his appearance shifts to that of a gnomish man dressed in browns and greys.

Disguise (disguise self): 1d20 - 1 + 10 ⇒ (12) - 1 + 10 = 21 (lasts 70 minutes)

A young halfling appears next, his expression a mixture of frustration and something else...disgust? Shame? Two adults - his parents, presumably - attempt to console him. "Not everyone succeeds the first time, Boram - I'm sure the elders will give you another chance." As his parents leave him, he shakes his head, his scowl deepening. He quickly packs a sack with his things and flees into the night, his face set, his eyes hard.

A series of scenes, then, faster - Boram taking on an apprenticeship to a master alchemist, enduring whatever beatings or punishment the man doled out, learning what he could, then moving on. The same basic pattern plays out again, and again, each time without emotion, without attachment. Eventually, he arrives at the doors to the Grand Lodge in Absalom.

Boram, seeing this montage flicker across the mirrors, remains stoically silent, determined to withstand whatever ridicule his comrades might hurl his way; it's not every day one comes across a grown halfling that never completed his coming-of-age task.
