Map is now updated, there's three doors and a tunnel
Jhalan
|
"No wounds to speak of, though the spore have bereft me of my health." A hacking cough interrupts Jhalan's remark. "Can you do anything to help me, Bones?"
However, you don't seem to have a lesser restoration in store, so don't worry about it.
Once the question has been dealt with, Jhalan suggests to open the westernmost door. I took the liberty of moving everyone in front of it to open it.
| DM Kludde |
The westernmost door opens to a makeshift barracks. There are cots and personal belongings stacked along the north wall.
Jhalan
|
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Jhalan enters the room, circling around it to reach the belongings, and starts rummaging through them, searching for things of interest.
However, he'll take care not to step on the very big (and very suspicious) rune on the ground.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
| DM Kludde |
Oh, cr*p. I forgot to hide that part. You said 'westernmost', not 'northwestern'. Anyway, I suppose that room would have been your next choice anyway, so I'll keep it revealed.
Fa'zakar searches the barracks, but finds nothing of value, while Jhalan moves onto the next room.
The walls of the circular room are covered in painted scenes of fear and torment. The stone ceiling rises in a craggy dome that is haphazardly carved with disembodied eyes, talons, fangs, and other monstrous features.
In the center of the room, rusty brown stains run down from a circular dais, which holds a stained marble bowl and a collection of rusty daggers. A jagged black rune covers up most of thefloor. Tattered and moldy bedrolls are pushed into the corners of the room.
Who, by the way, is carrying all that contraband?
Takahiro
|
Takahiro uses a wand and provides himself Protection from Evil.
He then moves into the room to face whatever may come.
He wouldn't be carrying the contraband
Bones FireHammer
|
k(planes): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Bones points to the rune on the floor, "Don't step on that unless you mother has a strong back. Also, it's the symbol of Lamashtu, goddess of madness, monsters, and nightmares."
What contraband?
| Fa'zakar |
I think Fa'zakar had the contraband, since he has shown various things previously, and gave the blue whinnis poison for aid...
Fa'zakar moves cautiously into the circular room, his magical gaze still in effect.
| DM Kludde |
Fa'zakar notices an aura of enchantment magic in the room, and as soon as he steps in, the holy symbol in his satchel starts to vibrate, and a vision of Fa'zakar's worst nightmare appears in front of his eyes.
Feel free to describe his worst nightmare. I also need a will save
| Fa'zakar |
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 (+2 vs fear effects)
Fa'zakar's eyes open wide in shock, his face slowly registering horror at something only he can see.
In this vision, Fa’zakar is back as a caravan master’s son. One night, while his family camped at the edge of the mysterious Lurkwood, young Fa’zakar wandered out of sight of his people’s cooking fires. There he found a great white tree, its ancient roots twisted around a ring of runecarved stone. As he investigated, the tree’s bark fell away, revealing elaborate symbols and images that related a brief tale—that of his own short life. It took a moment, but Fa'zakar realized the runes told of his torture and death that very night.
By the time he had read the final rune, the tree's roots had secured his feet at his ankles, and the branches had pinned his arms tightly to his sides. Then everything started to constrict, while small insects emerged from the tree and began to eat the flesh off of him bit by bit, each bite also injecting a burning venom that felt like he was being dipped in molted iron...
But he shakes his head and his eyes clear, knowing this to only be a figment of his past, a haunting of something that might have been but was not true.
| DM Kludde |
Fa'zakar is haunted by vision from the past, for a brief moment, then manages to strengthen his resolve and move on.
Where to ?
| DM Kludde |
The corridor in the south wall takes a turn, and then shows an opening in its south wall. A wide, open chamber smells of rotten flesh and harsh chemicals. A curved workbench with dozens of drawers sits against the southern wall of this room, its surface covered with surgical tools, body parts, and alchemical items. On the workbench, a hairless six-legged rat the size of a housecat floats in a vat of blue liquid. The creature’s body is covered in surgical wounds that have been carefully sutured shut.
A creature - a short statured humanoid that seems to draw long shadows on the wall - stand poised over a workbench. Another weasel-like creature - this one not infested by any kind of fungus - hisses as it spots Takahiro.

Running over it might be tricky since we can't have a running headstart, hence it doubles the DC from 10 to 20. Another problem is that if only one person makes it across, he might get swarmed by the enemy. That's why I opted to thin their ranks before attempting a jump.

Boram moves, but is unable to reach a spot from which to attack. He readies a bomb, in case an opportunity presents itself.
Move action: As indicated on map

Takahiro bides his time, as Boram gets a bomb ready. Bones moves to guard the backdoor.
The weasel-like creatures hiss, and one moves closer to spray a filthy cloud of rotten wetness over the adventures. The smell doesn't linger, but that stuff can't be healthy.
