@OMB: My PFS ID has a little typo on it, if you can correct the one on print I'd appreciate it, but either way don't want you to have a reporting error on my account, it IS 124455 (not 124456).
"If it would be of any help, on the way bawk back, I can translate the Tien writing the elf was talking about, to about half a dozen other languages, besides Taldane of course."
Bock walks up to Hiko before speaking. "Now that we have reached an agreement, why do you need help opening a door? I can see it's heavy and may be something special, but have you divined if it has some sort of magical wards?"
Is there a description for the door? I'm not sure if it appears on the map.
Bock walks inside the room, both wings spread out, swords in their respective sheaths. Once he has taken a few steps inside, to not draw attention to the ones still behind the doorway, he continues the negotiation.
"And what's stopping you from killing us all after the door is open? If you manage to get this far unscathed, you're surely good enough at your job. Cooperating sounds nice, not dying sounds better.
"If we agree to open the door with you, would you agree if one of us, my suggestion is our follower of Iomedae there if she agrees, to hold your weapons while we do it?"
Diplomacy:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22Convincing Attitude (Ex) If fail Diplomacy check by 5 or more, no negative attitude shift.
Bock, somehow barely quieter than Estra stays a bit behind the rest of the group, luck isn't on his favor on this day and has been closer to meeting Pharasma in the flesh than ever in his life.
"If they DO have a key, it might be of use to us." The tengu says with a whisper.
On the Infernal Healing topic, I just thought it'd be a fun interaction with a Paladin in here xD. On the wands' topic, I've got +10 to UMD, in case anyone needs me to activate any wand, but it seems we are all patched up now.
"Ohh, thank you Seelah! Some wounds are closing now. I'll give my wand a shot then, maybe it is broken. -Bock uses one charge on himself- "Yeah look, something's off... Your wand was faster, this one is slowly working! I shouldn't be buying wands in the Asmodean temple, those crooks..."
If anyone else needs 10hp healed via Infernal Healing and a minute, (or more) just leave an OOC message so I can add up the charges used =) (let's hope Seelah isn't detecting evil anytime soon xD)
"Damn thing nearly broke my beak in two or three parts... But I've got this wand of infernal... -Bock looks at Seelah- My wand may not be the goodest option after all." He starts whistling naively while searching through his pack for another potion.
Future posting because I believe my turn is coming up in the next block, and I'm not sure if I can make it tomorrow =).
READ AFTER HIKO'S TURN, if the stone demon thing is alive:
A bit hurt after enduring a horn and a claw closer to the beak than intended, but still brave and stubborn as a Swordlord-to-be can be, Bock releases his hold on the magical blade and draws his shinier one, the one with a silvery tint.
No nature! (Apparently... Bock is a knower of nothing)
Acrobatics:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Bock tries to squeeze behind Kyra to get to the other side of the demon, but his foot slips and drops his guard. Steeling his resolve he dashes again. Failed Acrobatics, I provoke AoO, and move again. I'll spend one Panache Point to use Opportune Parry vs the AoO.
Opportune Parry:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
If Parry is greater than the demon's Attack of Opportunity.:
With life being squeezed out of him, Bock's arms flail around until one manages to grasp a hold of his bag, from where he pulls a potion and starts to drink it after biting the stopper clean off.
Bock, it conducted the grapple normally and moved you to the nearest adjacent square. It also has the Constrict special ability, so it dealt damage. Because this was my mistake in not applying the Constrict damage when I rolled the Grab ability the first time, I did not penalize Bock by applying the damage later. If I make an error that would cause harm to a character and the error is my fault, I personally don't penalize the character; I feel it's unfair to retroactively do nasty things to a character, especially in PbP where it could have happened days ago.
I was only asking to be clear, because I didn't see my token moved on the map, and I'm with on not penalizing players on, let's go with, whoopsies xD (Constrict can get confusing)
Not taking into account the damage that was not rolled, Bock is at 2 hp.
@GM: Not trying to rules-lawyer my way out of a grapple, but I'm not 100% sure of what's going on right now? Spoiler tag to avoid Wall of Text.
Bock's grapple:
Wall of text incoming, and a few 'quotes' to figure my situation out.
Grapple SAYS:
Spoiler:
As a standard action, you can attempt to grapple a foe, hindering his combat options. If you do not have Improved Grapple, grab, or a similar ability, attempting to grapple a foe provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver. Humanoid creatures without two free hands attempting to grapple a foe take a –4 penalty on the combat maneuver roll. If successful, both you and the target gain the grappled condition (see the Appendices). If you successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you, move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space is available, your grapple fails). Although both creatures have the grappled condition, you can, as the creature that initiated the grapple, release the grapple as a free action, removing the condition from both you and the target. If you do not release the grapple, you must continue to make a check each round, as a standard action, to maintain the hold. If your target does not break the grapple, you get a +5 circumstance bonus on grapple checks made against the same target in subsequent rounds. Once you are grappling an opponent, a successful check allows you to continue grappling the foe, and also allows you to perform one of the following actions (as part of the standard action spent to maintain the grapple).
Grab SAYS:
Spoiler:
Grab (Ex) If a creature with this special attack hits with the indicated attack (usually a claw or bite attack), it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. Unless otherwise noted, grab can only be used against targets of a size equal to or smaller than the creature with this ability. If the creature can use grab on creatures of other sizes, it is noted in the creature's Special Attacks line. The creature has the option to conduct the grapple normally, or simply use the part of its body it used in the grab to hold the opponent. If it chooses to do the latter, it takes a –20 penalty on its CMB check to make and maintain the grapple, but does not gain the grappled condition itself. A successful hold does not deal any extra damage unless the creature also has the constrict special attack. If the creature does not constrict, each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold. Otherwise, it deals constriction damage as well (the amount is given in the creature's descriptive text).
Emphasis mine in both spoilers.
Bottom line, did the vines move Bock? If they didn't move Bock, that's the partial grapple from the Grab ability, so the vines should be taking -20 to their CMB?
Either way, Bock should be down for the count, since you didn't roll constrict damage when the grapple was established.
Constrict SAYS:
Spoiler:
A creature with this special attack can crush an opponent, dealing bludgeoning damage, [b]when it makes a successful grapple check [b](in addition to any other effects caused by a successful check, including additional damage). The amount of damage is given in the creature's entry and is typically equal to the amount of damage caused by the creature's melee attack.
With one slam for 10 damage and one constrict for 13 damage, Bock is at 2 hp, and one Constrict damage roll is missing.
"Look at what you've gone and done, Daedîn, waking the plants up... Wait... Why are the plants WAKING UP? Why are they moving? Why are they coming here? Are those real plants?"
In the midst of an existential crisis, Bock manages to draw his sword, and walk up to the elvish infiltrator, with a focus on defense at the moment.
"Or the winds are what keeping intruders like ourselves out? Would a gust of wind inside this crypt sound like a whisper outside? You know, Whispering Tyrant and all that!
"Maybe something is hidden behind the vines! Should we take a look?"
"I will not be mocked by this, this... structure, building or whatever it thinks it is! Does anyone recognize that rune over there? I'm trying to remember anything like it, but my brain may still be a bit dnumb from the wine earlier".
While the group decides which hall are they starting with, Bock waits behind Daedîn, trying to pinpoint any noises in particular from the corridor on the right.
"Me? Well.. after my parents were exiled into the River Kingdoms, I was enamoured by honor and standing of the Aldori swordlords, their skill with a blade, superb!
"I responded to this.. song from the blades themselves, I figured the fastest way to git good at the Aldori style was by not dying at the wrong end of one. So I started adventuring, and eventually found myself working for Lady Gloriana Morilla every now and then. Hoping that maybe one day I can help my home country to finally find peace.
"What about you Aric? Or did you join the Pathfinders to find better wine?"
1. This rogue opted out of traps, and isn't that perceptive, so I'm happy with aiding someone else on that front 2. Like Seelah, at the front, with sword drawn and Combat Expertise if possible. 3. CLOCKWISE works for me.
After encountering the first enemy I may switch to a special material sword, but wielding the magical one for now.
@OMB: Khaoz here, sorry for not commenting sooner, it's a couple of weeks where I was only waiting for life to hand me a screwdriver to try and sort everything around me, but apparently everything's stable now =)
