Personally I don't get on with discord for PbP, and I've been trying to cut back on my games to free up some time, so I'll not be making the jump. Good luck to the team though if you do continue!

I'm assuming we're starting initiative before we descended due to the enemies

Beryl quickly slides down the rope as Mosquito calls out, then quickly sprays Mosquito with some alchemical bone-grow on his ankles to heal any small fractures.

◆ Slide down rope
◆ Battle Medicine Mosquito (assurance)

Healing: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 8) = 11

The then tries to recall if she's seen the strange monkey creatures before.

◆ Recall Knowledge (I'm not sure what skill so here's a roll)

Beryl does still have the highest medicine modifier I think (as the medic dedication made her an expert). She also made the loot sheet :)

Given some downtime she might retrain into a bomber

She will gladly take the gloves!

No worries on stepping back GM, this is supposed to be fun so if you're finding it stressful I think you made the right choice. Good luck with the new job!

Thanks for picking up the game Mosquito!

"Well done everyone! I need to tend to some of those wounds, but I don't think Torag himself could prevent Mosquito from going through the loot here, so it can wait a minute"

Beryl has a wide grin seeing that everyone survived.

Medicine: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

"Lots of goblinoid bones, some of these are human, and a few orc bones. Oh that one's from an elf!"

Beryl looks up from the bones to see Enara with an armful of magic items.

"That I admit is more interesting..."

Then if the others are willing to tarry while she treats their wounds, she'll work her way around.

Healing:

Enara Healing: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9

"Oh my"

Beryl rushes around trying to patch wounds the big beast is creating. Seeing how effective her herbal remedy was for the poison she wants to do that for the others too. She starts with Enara.

If she can stand in that square with the chair in she'd like to be there, otherwise she'd have to end next to the barghest

Doctor's visitation

Beryl attempts to take the sting out of Bertrum's poison by neutralizing it with the appropriate alchemicals.

She's going to attempt to do Assisted Recovery to help with the persistent poison. In case you need a check, she'd hope to be able to use her crafting as a chirurgeon:

◆◆ Assisted Recovery

Crafting: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Doctor's visitation

Still holding her crossbow in one hand, she rushes over to tend to Mosquito's injury next

She'll use assurance here for the DC 15 Battle Medicine as she doesn't have any hero points

Cold, splash: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

That will hopefully at least miss (and so do just 1 splash), so that Beryl can see the cold isn't especially effective. If it hits it will also do 1 splash damage to Bertrum, I suppose I should have done that the other way around, sorry

In a quieter voice she adds.

"I also have some frost vials, I'm fairly sure they'll do the trick"

Let's do this! Remember your +2 item bonus to any saves against poison

”Beryl” | Female LG Medium Dwarf Alchemist 4 | HP 46/46 | AC 21 | F +9 R +11 W +8 | Perc +8 | Speed 20ft | Blight Bomb 4/4 ElixirofLife 3/3 Frost Vial 1/2 Bolts 10/20 Reagents 1/8; Hero Points 0/3 | BM: Bert, mos reuse: 0/1| Restorative Familiar: 1/1 | Active Conditions:

"Holy or Lawful, are you sure? I had heard that Barghest's feared the cold..."

Beryl can make a lesser antidote for everyone, they give a +2 item bonus to poison saves and last for 6 hours. They're even a signature item for her so that's only 2 reagents.

Holy water would be good, but Beryl can't make that and I don't show us as ever having found any. Can we pop back to town to stock-up?

She could also provide juggernaut or quicksilver mutagens for people, but the downsides are probably too risky for a big fight

"Of course we'll help you get home right folks? If it's truly an evil creature, then you've got the right people. We're the heroes of Breachill"

She then beams with pride at being able to call herself that, and starts wondering how best to use her few alchemical reagents to help tackle a barghest.

Recall Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 1

I was going to list her modifiers, but that's a critical fail regardless of skill so she learns something incorrect :(

She tuts as she sees the state of the bandages she just applied after the skeletons.

"Yes I can see I need to do some more extensive work here. If you don't mind I'd like to be a bit more thorough, though it will take longer"

I'm not sure how we're doing for time, but if she takes a full hour treating Bertrum she can double the healing, which would put him back at full

Beryl sees that she's made a mistake and worked the poison deeper into his system, but she doesn't want to let the patient know so she puts on a brave face.

Treat Poison
Crafting: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

She then draws out one of her elixirs of life and pours it down Bertrum's throat; knowing that as well as healing it can help fortify a body against poisons.

◈ Interact to draw elixir

"For now let's see if we can do anything about those wounds Bertrum. You're getting as bad as Mosquito!"

She doesn't have any hero points so this is risky, but I just realised medics get extra healing when they go for the hard DCs:
Treat wounds DC 20: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

I am reading your adventure. I think you were confused about what the alchemist wanted. When she requested liquid ice fornula. I thnk she wanted lesser frost vial formula. Which is included in the basic crafters book. Which only costs 1 sp.

That is very frustrating, I wish they mentioned that item in the alchemist class. "By the way, when we tell you how many formula you get, you would be really stupid to spend them on things that you can get all together for 1sp, and in fact comes in the alchemist kit!"

On the plus side have a few more formula than I thought I had, so thanks for pointing that out mj32202!

I imagine that misses with the shield, if so last hero point!
Bomb, item: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 22

Positive damage, splash: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 7) + 2 = 10
On a hit the target is also enfeebled 1 for 1 round. If it were a miss it would instead only deal the 2 splash and not be enfeebled. I don't think you can shield block positive damage?

Beryl rushes in after Enara. She takes in the scene of the undead threatening Bertrum and moves up next to him, taking out an elixir of life to heal his wounds.

Two strides followed by an interact to draw the elixir. She'll have to have just one hand on the crossbow

"I have these"

Beryl passes small vials to Enara and Phai.

"They'll grant you acute vision in darkness, but only for a short time"

Lesser darkvision elixirs that we've found along the way, they only last for 10 minutes, but that might be enough for us to get the drop on someone

"If you too take those I think we can then all see in the dark, and we can enter the caverns without giving away our positions"

"I agree, let's start with the house"

She makes a quick round looking for any valuables on the orcs, paying particular attention to anything like keys or hidden notes or the like.

Yes and even a level 1 soothe does an average of 9.5 HP which is not bad at all.

Beryl's up to date. It turns out I'd already taken Assurance (crafting) at level 3, it pays to check your character sheet from time to time!

I went with ghost charge and thunderstone as the new items in the formula book, mainly to round out the damage types she can deal just in case.

For her free archetype feat I went with Doctor's Visitation (basically gives a free stride in order to do medicine actions), and another medic feat with her skill feat: Treat Condition.

Because that's 3 medic feats she's got now I believe that frees her up to take another dedication with her actual class feat, so I've taken the ranger dedication. It doesn't give her much now but at level 6 she'll be able to use it to improve her crossbow stuff, and it seemed to fit my image for her more than any magic based archetype

Woohoo glad you're feeling better! I wasn't planning on magical crafting no, there's too much competition. Right now I'm choosing between assurance (crafting) for the all important guaranteed battle medicine and treat wounds checks, or treat condition because taking archetype feats with your skill feats is cool.

Sorry it's taking me so long, I'll have beryl updated soon; I'm also finding choosing the free formulae difficult at this level

Beryl eventually makes it up the ladders to Mosquito's side and is about to give him an Elixir of life before she realises that he'll be a lot easier to treat while he's unconscious.

Folgrit forgive me

She calls down to the others before she starts work on him "He's hurt, I'm going to treat him up here!"

Once he rouses she gives him an elixir of life.

"You've been badly wounded, try not to move around too much. Here drink this. Let's regroup and decide what we want to do"

Elixir of life healing: 1d6 ⇒ 5

She can do more wound treating before we go on, but it will take some time, maybe other wound treating happens during the 10 minutes she was treating Mosquito?

◆ Battle Medicine

She's using her once-per-day ability to use battle medicine on someone who's temporarily immune, and going for the DC 20. This will provoke if she has AoOs. Also note Bertrum that this doesn't remove the wounded condition

Crafting DC 20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

EDIT: I realised I don't quite have the actions to do the above as I'd needed to have release the crossbow in order to do the battle medicine. Would it be ok to retcon and say I did it in the other order with a free action release after the strike?

As Beryl works on her daily preparations in the camp, she ponders if she can make anything that will help with Bertrum's scouting. She wonders if she could make something that would help improve his senses, but lacks the time at the minute, so she makes a note in her formula book to conduct some research when she next gets a chance.

As she's cooking up some mushrooms for dinner she asks Bertrum about his plans.

"Bertrum what kind of animal will you change into? I'm worried that you'll be caught, so let's set up an animal sound that means "Come at Once", perhaps "CACKAW-CACKAW?"

My personal preference is 1 because it's possible (though somewhat challenging) to move a token on a phone, whereas it's much more difficult on roll20. I would defer to whichever the GM preferred though too of course.

One of the other games I'm in has an interesting approach to hero points; they reset on the first of the month just as if it were a new session at a face to face game. This works fairly well for that game, though for this one I think the pace is a bit slower so we might end up refreshing them too quickly if we did that, but it's something to consider anyway. No of course I don't bring this up just because I've been on 0 hero points for months and am scared of dying :)
