Apologies on the delay. The long and the short of it is that I've been estranged from my wife for a few months while she took 3 months away. She returned today so the weekend was spent in painting, cleaning etc in prep for her home coming. She's suitably happy (though I am bone tired from the long hours and hard work) and it seems the marriage is at least again pointed in a positive direction.
