Aldren heads down to the Wasp Nest to continue work on the Shrine before heading to bed.

Good night and good luck tomorrow. I will be keeping a low profile here for the next week or so, as my Lady demands more of my time.

After a quarter hour, a silver raven flies into your midst and lands with its own message. You recognize this as Aldren's specific figurine.

[i]Rexus, Laria and I are on the way with a few of Rexus's closest friends and associates. We should be there within the hour.[/b]

The driver is more than happy to head back immediately after being paid.

***

Assuming no other activities...

After about an hour, the group with Rexus and Aldren approach on foot, totaling about ten altogether.

Aldren calls out and swaps figurines with Lubella.

Thank you for sending the message, I had a few more preparations to ready for the proper cremation and ceremony. Rexus had some personal notes for the eulogy as well.

Rexus nods, obviously deep in thought, but also physically winded as this much exertion was a toll on his body.

Laria waves to the group and approaches the two halflings.

This has been long over due, and this means so much to Rexus. Thank you for all you have done to help him.

Aldren asks for help with the bodies and positions them in a clearing amid some trees and stones outcroppings.

Could some of you help with the collecting of wood for the pyre?

Once the pyre is assembled and the remains are put into place, Aldren begins a simple blessing honoring the parents.

Dearly beloved, we are gather here this evening to honor the parents of our friend Rexus. They had been missing and presumed dead since House Thrune viciously attacked Kintargo during the Night of Ashes and burned poor Rexus's family's estate in The Greens in 4715 AR. As most of you know, our friend Rexux was their only child and after witnessing the aftermath of the attack, he went into hiding in Kintargo. Until now, and to honor his parents and the memory of the movement against the Thrunes they started. We are here to send them off but also to pass the baton to those willing to stand up to the injustices this city has faced. May they embrace in the afterlife and smile down upon their son and that peace may return to this city.

Aldren nods to Lubella.

We figured you would agree. And I have no love for the thought of those filthy Abadarian bankers getting rich at Rexus's family's expense.

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Aldren approaches your group after a day of preparations

”Rexus and I have located a secluded copse off the Night Road which should be far enough north of Kintargo to avoid any unwanted attention. We can conduct the ceremony on Moonday. “

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Lubella’s research uncovers a few options for the cremation of Rexus’s parents. However they vary in practicality.

1) the city government with the help of the asmodians conduct mass cremations daily for bodies found in the streets, victims of disease or crime or even prisoners tortured. It would be relatively simple to turn them over. But one would not expect any reverence
2) the underground church’s are too small and are still in hiding from Thrune, so cremation is not an option. Some like Milani are able to conduct burials outside the city
3) the church of Abadar could be paid to conduct a proper cremation without involvement by the city. While the most expensive, it would be the most expedient and offer some level of dignity
4) Aldren says it is possible to conducting your own cremation outside the city if you would want him to perform the services

”It is the least I can do. But I can contribute to fees if another option is preferred. “

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Aldren chimes in ”I am sure a rebellion is needed but I am feeling a calling to establish the temple to Calistria will be the best way for me to contribute. If Laria is willing, I will spend the next month or so establishing a proper shrine in the Wasp Nest. “

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Lubella lands another slash on the infernal warrior.

Talvek aims for her exposed neck, but does not find a vital spot, drawing some blood nevertheless.

Aldren steps up and channels to help the front line while excluding Nox

Nox seems to focus her anger at losing her weapon and shrugs off the spell.

Aldren sighs... Well, rats. And our blessing may be running out soon as well.
Finish her quickly before she re-arms!

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Lubella reaches up and lands a well-placed flat of her blade to the base of Lout's skull. He goes down with a thud.

Yes, sorry Talvek, on the road this weekend I was not able remove yellow from the map. Have done so now. You can move and attack the red hound with that attack or take a different action...

Aldren casts a divine spell upon his doubled-self.

Mistress, protect me from these heathens!

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Arcos waits for a chance to lob another bolt (delays)

The lout, as he is called, lives up to his name, standing ready, drooling with anticipation to cave in your skull.

Yellow turban looks less confident, but also stands at the ready.

Aldren calls out...

Well, gang, this is it...are we ready to take it to the next level?

He calls upon his mistress...and points from Lout to Yellow.

Kill him!

That was a lie. Everyone knows who cast down the beast and it was not the flower.

Aldren's ready and aoo both occur....

Lubella pokes and prods at the walls and floor but does not find anything of interest.

Aldren notices there seems to be more light from down south and the larger hallway than emanating from any of these smaller rooms.

He waves to Arcos and Talvek and motions them to move up...

Lubella notices a smaller hallway with additional doors.

She and Aldren do not hear or see anyone in the hall or beyond the closest door.

Well, that was the strangest creature I have ever seen...I think.

Aldren scratches his head and looks at the rest of you and the minor nicks and cuts incurred.

It does not appear it did much damage with those ribbons. Everyone ok?

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Aldren steps up to the creature and attempts to aid Lubella.

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Aldren activates his copycat and a shimmering duplicate of himself reappears as he moves into flank with Talvek.

Not so fast, book-head! You need to worry about all of us!

morningstar, flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24 for dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

cleric 3 | AC 16 T 10 FF 17 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +1 W +7| Init +1 | Perc +11 {3/5 channels 2d6, copycat 2/7 }

Aldren decides he will get into the action and pops out of invisibility...well two of him do actually.

So you were playing the patsy!

He swings his morningstar at the creature.

morningstar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for morningstar: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

But he too finds it hard to land a solid blow on the shifting, swirling papers.

In response, the bookish creature replies to Aldren.

So there you are! I could detect your jumbled thoughts, but not see you.
You will make a fine addition to my journal.

Two of the purple ribbons seek targets to either side.

On Aldren ribbon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 1d2 ⇒ 1 dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1 DC16 WILL or lose 1 INT

Aldren trudges along in the rain, also ready to bring the fight to the enemy and either achieve victory or at least inflict some annoyance.

”Well, I guess this is it, right? No turning back now. “

He pauses as if unusually deep in thought then speaks

”My past regret was we didn't more clearly telegraph the Silver Ravens who were at work again. Maybe this time we spread word More broadly...assuming we succeed." “

Lubella is able to make her purchases while Aldren paces uncharacteristically around thinking about the upcoming confrontation.

Aldren b!urts out suddenly We must be very careful.
So far we have operated in the fringe. Second hand minions. Once we get involved with group, we are jumping into bed with both feet, so to speak. This is Nox. Thrunes close advisor and who knows what else. This will be hard to keep out of sight.
We may need to move our base of operations to something more defensible. I am not sure I am ready to oppose the diabolical hoards of the nether gates at this point in my life. I will see this through but ...we'll see what happens by the Savored Sting!

Do we need to do anything with any of these...bodies?

To which Raul replies, almost without thinking and a smirk.

Ares takes careful aim at the dragon, now further from the group.

"I am not sure I like our odds here.
But if we kill it, that thing has to own a ton of treasure!

attack bane, bless, fav, rapid, herof: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 21
for Dmg, bane, holy,fav : 1d8 + 3 + 2d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (4, 5) + 2 + (5) + 2 = 22

attack, bane, bless, fav, rapid, herof: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 30
for Dmg, bane, holy,fav : 1d8 + 3 + 2d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (5, 6) + 2 + (1) + 2 = 20

Hopefully the second one hit at least. 3/10 DB arrows used.

If that one misses, Ares will chase after it. :)

I remember Lia got the +1Keen bow and Rey the banesword. I also was thinking we split 20 arrows, but going back, there were only 10 and 1 arrow of dragon-slaying. The loot sheet does not show any of this...

superloot:

Lady Tula’s remains still wear her +3 breastplate of luck (as banded mail of luck). Her +1 keen composite longbow (+2 Str) lies at the body’s left side. Her famed weapon Wyrmsmite (a +2 dragonbane transformative longsword) lies atop the body under the crossed arms. The right hand holds 10 +1 dragonbane arrows, and the left just a single shaft—an arrow of dragon slaying. I did not have on Ares' sheet, so assuming Lia still has it.

Use that orange fletched arrow next time, Lia!"

Ares reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 vs acid (resist acid/20)
Ares will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 vs fear

Between the acid resist spell and the blessing of his deity, Ares is unaffected by the dragon.

He steps further to the north, to spread from his fellows and fires at the dragon with dragon bane arrows first.

attack pb, bane, bless, fav, rapid: 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 1 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 16
for Dmg, bane, holy,fav : 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + (1, 3) + 2 + (5) + 2 = 24

But the pricey arrow soars into the air, far from its mark.

Well that is lovely.

Ares had already moved to the right to get a better view while the discussion started.

Ares waits to see any response from the dragon. Will it come out or expect us to come to it? Time will show.
