Ok, I got my next charecter ready. Going to be a Gomish Rouge Guardian with a bone compass. I also hope to perhaps make it a philactory of good eventualy because I like the idea of that. I got internet speraticly at my local library, perhaps I will be able to bum off my nabor for time on his internet. Ill create a new profile for my new charecter.

Anvinder laughs "Yes, lets ask the black blood. He is bound to know several prayers, probably really good at them too."

As Sorok is woken up by the Dorn Dreamer, Gilian watches Anvinder with a half-puzzled, half bemused expression. "Your methods are strange but very efficient. He should not have woken up so quickly. How can you do that? And if I may, you were complaining about a lack of acknowledgment for your help before. Perhaps a more gentle touch would help that..."

She then moves down the tunnel to reach Chops and Pete. As the writing on the metal door does not mean anything to her, she calls back.

"Solvistania, Sorok, can you make anything of what's written on this door?"

"For your people, yes, a gentle touch would do. For mine we are more stubern and need more rousing. His people... pointing to Sorok "deserve no better." Anvinder says his people with a sneer but talks to Gillian with respect.

Feeling the kick to his side, Sorok's eyes snap open. The images of blood and the progenitor quickly fade from his mind, but the laughter from the engulfing darkness lingers in his mind as he looks around.

"Again?" he mutters under his breath, and picks himself off the ground.
You have my thanks yet again Anvinder. Thus far I've been little more than a burden to you all, I'll make sure your efforts are not in vain.

Anvinder does not respond. He sighs and continues to walk on, not making any effort to help the dwarf off the ground.

Anvinder walks above the sleeping dwarf. The dorn sighs and winds up for a kick to his side. "Wake up you damn black blood!"

using, control sleep. Time to wake up!

"They can't even begin to understand what is coming for them. The shadow's time is a an end, and we'll be there to ring the bell."

Ilona gives Chops a wicked grin inciting feelings of destroying the enemy.

Everyone who can hear Ilona gains +4 saves vs Fear, loses shaken condition

" I hardly think we will stop the shadow. The brighter the light, the deeper the shadow becomes. All we are able to do is protect that light so that we are not consumed by the darkness." Anvinder averts his eyes from contact with anyone else "Heroes die, and survivors carry on. A thousand small victory's mean more then one brave stand."

No, it's just something I think midnight is kinda lacking on. Charismatics should have a cool PC like the others.

Anyway, sorry I havent posted. On our way home yesterday we found a cat someone left on the side of the road, its was bleeding from the face and mostly unconsious. I spent all of last night trying to nurse it back to health but this morning it passed on.

Ill post tonight but right now I gotta get ready for work.

Ahem, perhaps a sore of arcane trickster for charismatic channelers. I mean hermetic and wisdom based channelers all have specific PC and if you gunna be working on something then I figure Id give you some ideas.

Why I love midnight:

When I first ran midnight it was with a bunch of really hard-core powergamers. I encouraged them to try out all the broken loopholes that any sane GM vetoes. They were ecstatic. I spent 4 sessions delving really deep into their backgrounds and forcing some tough Role Play decisions out of them. No combat at all. barely any roles. I made them really, really care about the characters as more than an impressive stack of numbers.

Then a Legate showed up with 6 orcs to investigate what was going on in the town.

They tried to hide, so the Legate started publicly executing people. (He just used Augery to find out if That Guy had contact with the resistance.)

Predictably, the PC's intervened.

And all died.

I'll never forget the look on the fighters face when I told him his attack total of 18 against one of the orcs missed, and that the orc did 15 points of damage with a one-handed weapon.

The rogue, who survived and ran, couldn't figure out how they tracked him so unerringly (eagle astirax, keeping watch from above), and when he went to his safehouse to try to get help, he was killed by one of the people I'd built up as his oldest friend. Not because he was a traitor, but because the friend wouldn't risk the collapse of the entire local resistance to save one idiot who openly fought against an investigator.

So they made new characters. I told them that I hadn't even increased the challenge rating of the base "legate with guards" encounter, but that I played mean because of how they had made their characters.

They deliberately held back this time, thinking that I would cut them some slack.

Their new characters were resistance fighters sent to investigate what had happened with their previous characters.

They managed to do things the smart way. They poisoned the orcs, and killed the legate while he slept.

Then left town.

The legate's superior showed up a week later, brought by his underling's astirax. He raised the first legate from the dead, got the full...

When I read this i had to lol a bit. This is why your my favorite GM.

Solvistania watches Anvinder closely, studying his techniques Knowledge (untrained) 1d20+5 and then her eyes widen, "A dreamer!"

"The world of dreams is like the sea. Some get their food from it, some drown in it, and some..." Anvinders eyes focus in. "Some eventually learn to swim." Another slap.

Anvinder runs up the stairs to find the dorn laying on the floor. He walk beside him, kneels down, and turns him onto his back. "This does not appear to be a natural sleep." He opens up his eye lids and slaps him on the cheeks some.

"Ragnar, you are obviously very important. The Vigdir is proof of that. However... the thing about being important is..." Anvinder raises his hand into the air. "You are rarely allowed the luxury of a peaceful nap." Anvinder hand come down and slaps Ragnar straight across the face. A hard smack echoes through the chamber.

I'm using 1 dream point to use control sleep to wake him up.

a) You have more Faith Points than everyone else. b) You did not receive white bone item because you would have to wait even longer for me to write you in the game if I decided to give you and Sorok covenant items. c) You've got gear. And pretty powerful one at that. d) You are 500 XP behind old members of the party. That may seem a lot right now, but it should even out in a couple of levels, since I tend to award good role playing.

I was told I had no gear. So what gear might this be?

Em, ok so I know I came into the game late but now I got no equipment, no covenant item and will be behind by a level? You gave me some XP to start with but I dont think its very much compared to what everyone els has the jump for.

I only say this because if I had enough XP and became lvl 2 then I could do some cool dreamer stuff with Ragnar right now.

Anvinders pauses, takes in a deep breath and stares blankly at the wall.

Still facing away he remarks back. "Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to follow it. Now lets join up with Ragnar so we may see to it that we stop this madman, he will surly be invaluable in doing so."

Picking himself off the ground he switches his attention to the thin Dornish man and cracks a small smile.
You'd look strange and be off balance if you did. I'm grateful to ye as well. It was my folly that caused the cave to collapse, now let's see if your kinsman has a better way to get through this.

Anvinder smiles back. "I think you are right. Hmmm, I don't mean to offend but how do we tell your people apart from these damned black bloods?"

Shaking his head as his vision clears. Sorok looks at Gilian.
Thank you. Guess I owe you my life twice now. I should have known better than anyone the way would have been trapped. I let my anger get the better of me. It won't happen again.

I droped at leaste 2 cure minors on him

"You know she isn't the only one helping you out dwarf." Anvinder sighs and stands back up. "I guess I need a bigger chest to get some thanks around here."

"What is it with all of you ?", she mutters to herself. "Are you planning to find every trap and see how well you can trigger them?"

Avinder chuckles and mutters. "haha, we got the women breathing down our necks now."

Advinder leans down to Sorok. He begins the to chant and wave his hands above Sorok, there is a brief glow and then he starts over again.

I'm dropping some Cure minors. I'll keep this up until he is up again.

The sinister bird stares hard at Anvinder as it rambles on, unreadable and measuring. It's tail twitches.

"Name's Muni. I'm a Watcher."

"My name is Anvinder. I'm a bender of the natural magic's and a dreamer. It is a honer to meet you. I have only herd of you kind in stories and myself have never seen one."

His eyes finally drift to ragnar.

"Your mission must be greatly important."

"Enough! Ragnar snarls, the spectral light that follow him flaring ominously. "Whether or not we get a chance to look in the library first depends entirely on if Dorzar is between us and it."

He begins moving away.

"Learn this now. When the Vigdir say move, we move."

Advinder drops a dead dwarfs sword he was examining immediately upon hearing the word Vigdir. No, it can't be.....

He slowly walks over to Ragnar. He stops just short of a swords length away. "Are you really one of them? ...... a ... Vigdar?" His eyes never leave Muni, seeming to almost completely ignore Ragnar.

Ok so I am going to update to the new Dreamer path DH made. Also I want to know if I can have a ritual known by now? I would like a ritual to raise the DC of my Woeful speech.

Anvinder seems apprehensive about the plan.

"Huh?... I'm not terribly good with a sword, but get them close enough to hear my words and I'll see what I can do to take the fight out of them."

Anvinder trots in the room. A calm smile creeps on his face as he views the dead dwarfs. He then scans the room. kicking over some bodies. Of course it's not here, why should it be that easy?

"Anyone hurt? I can help a little."

8 hp. Anvinder is wimpy right now.

Advinder begins to stir, his eyes finally able to focus correctly. His head is throbbing and his body is sore from lack of movement. Dorns where never meant to stay still for so long.

He begins to sit up and take notice of his surroundings. He stares out into nothing, nods a few times and the exits the cell

"Well then I guess they could use my help."

Whispers can be herd from the cell where the chained Dorn resides.

"Is this another dream?..."

There is a long pause.

"Well, then what should I do?"

Anvinder and Sorok are currently drugged. That will give Sorok some time to put final touches to his character.

Now, Sorok, do you have any questions about character creation?

Is there anyway I'm gunna wake up during this encounter? I am a master of my own sleep due to my heroic path.

There are some good midnight magic-flavored feats in Sorcery and Shadow. You may consider the Ritual Magic feat. Since we will have some overlap, we would be able to use that to do some seriously big-time Necromancy. If you pick up whatever school healing magic is from (conjuration?) you and Gillian could work together to really efficiently patch up the group.

Haha, I don't even think that far combat wise. I think my character is probably going to be the worst. But that is his sort of thing, and hell even the prestige class I'm building him up to has nothing to do with combat at all, and my heroic path doesn't give me anything that affects battle untill like 7th lvl.

Not a good thing in Midnight, he he. i figured she must have a way of defending herself, other than charming hapless foes, since how could she have survived to meet the group initially. I can think of a reason how she knows the spell, but I don't think she would tell you guys, he he

good catch there, gabboge. I need to read these rules better, he he. Since Nigthflier is ok with the spell selection, i will adjust the SP used for the MM spells she cast. I could not find where it says it takes 2 addition spell points to cast Greater magic though, Nightflier, I like the change though.

I like the rule as well because it causes people to use a lot of the more interesting spells instead of just damage dice spells.

Em, I don't want to seem too rules lawyery but I was reading the IC and someone was going to use magic missile and I had a few things to say.

First, you can't choose a a greater magic spell with your mage craft feat. And second is that greater magic spells cost 2 spell points extra.

Not certain the source of the extra cost rule but I believe its in the core rule book 2nd ed.

Yea, magic missles require 2 feats and 3 spell points.

That's cannon. Izrador sends orcs nightmares of their women and children being brutalized by elves and dwarves every night. There's no such thing as peace for orcs, not even in their sleep.

That will be a fun scene when Anvinder unknowingly pops into an orcs dream.
