Well, he's a couple hundred XP from becoming a class ability, so I think I'll just give it to Ragnar and then have Ragnar try to spend FP's on Muni's actions if neccesary. If it's a situation that I can't do that for some reason, I'll just bite the bullet.

Thank you. It just sort of occurred to me that writing from Ragnar's point of view would be a little depressing and probably boring to read. As much as I like exploring Ragnar's story, Muni's just a whole lot more entertaining to write.

I'm sorry to see Sky go. I hope that my prolonged absence didn't have to do anything with your decision. And I am really sorry you couldn't stick around till little higher levels. Than the game should probably go into multiple points of view, like a novel, so that you will be divided into smaller groups on different quests.

To all players: I am dedicated to nine-players group. I know that most of you consider that number of players to large, but I think that we did pretty well so far. There are seven of you right now, excluding Gabogge's character, whom I will introduce later, when you finish with this quest. I am gonna offer to one of my RL friends to create a character for this game, and if doesn't accept it, I'm gonna look for someone on the boards.

To all players: If someone else has the time or inclination to write a journal for this game, he can do so freely.

Think on a larger scale. The main reason why I don't want to have a concentration of same species/race among the players are higher levels and the future role as leaders that the players will assume.

As for Pat's character, I was talking to him last night brainstorming. I can report on his character concept since he isn't around right now.

He wants to play a Dwarven Shadow Walker Barbarian, a traitor to the Black Blood.

Based on the info we've gotten so far, it seems like that concept would fit right into where the party is now. What do you think?


I think Chops would enjoy having a 'fellow' dwarf around.

There's a few reasons for that-

1) He didn't want to play a normal barbarian. He wanted to be able to stealth around with the rest of the party (rest of the party other than me, that is ;) )

2) He wanted to be a sort of "priest of mother moon" by taking spellcraft later on. He's got sort of a night-time motif, and Shadow-Walker fits with that.

3) What's cooler than an indestructible combat monster who can teleport?

Character Concept for nightflier

During the last war he was a child. Born of the Black Blood clan, he was groomed for war like all dwarves. He was strong and tough so they had him do things like haul munitions for siege weapons and carry barrels full of tar, pitch, oil or water.

Though the war against the humans was essentially won, the war in the Kaladruns never really stopped. As he grew older he went from doing manual labor do being trained as a scout after it was noticed that he had a knack for staying quiet. Having found an abandoned dwarven temple in one of his missions, he was first introduced to the tales of reverence that the other clans held for Father Sun and Mother Moon. He destroyed the tablets to be sure that no doubt came upon him, but a seed of rebellion had been planted. Over the course of the next sixty or seventy years he took every opportunity to learn as much as he could about the lost religion of the other clans. Eventually, he came to the conclusion that Izrador's way was not right, and that he had been on the wrong side of the war for his entire life.

Anyone know of a trait that makes Stealth a class skill?

Yes. Concerning my traits. One of my traits happens to be faith related Indomitable will, which grants a +1 to will saves. Is this one ok or should I change it? Also there is no stealth related trait, so would it be ok to create one that grants a +1 to stealth and makes stealth a class skill? Also does being raised as a black blood dwarf alter my background abilities as a clan dwarf, or does that stay the same?

For one thing, we use Pathfinder racial modifiers, not 3.5 For another, I have a homebrew trait that I call "Terrifying visage" which essentially allows you to use negative Charisma modifier as a bonus to Intimidate skill. You should have that in mind. For the third, your racial enemies are now other dwarves, so that should be reflected in racial abilities. That means that you replace your bonuses against orcs with bonuses against dwarves. Also, your favorite region should not be Kaladruns, but the North, unless you can explain that in the background. I'd like to remind you that you receive bonus feat for a detailed background. And on the final note, I have a problem with your last name. Black Blood were of Dorin Clan and they went to call themselves Odrud. So, you either change your last name to Odrud, or you incorporate into your background the reason for you to be called Hamfael.

Anvinder and Sorok,

You will begin the game without whitebone items and without any equipment, but you will have 3 fate points and 1500 XP to compensate that.

So, combat related question-

page 201 of the Pathfinder book states that you can make an Overrun as part of a Charge, which in my interpretation means that you can bowl over one dude on your way to stabbing another dude all as part of a single full round action (unless of course you are stopped by the first dude)

Is this your interpretation as well?

Also, what does being Flat Footed do to your CMD?

Yes, that is my interpretation as well, although you provoke an AOO, Flat Footed does nothing to your CMD, but if you have negative Dexterity modifier, that applies.

Flat footed creatures can't make AoO's, so I should be safe from that if I do it right off the bat. I just have to hope I beat the Dwarf's CMD and am not stopped in my tracks.

Bodyguard dwarves will not be flat footed. The doors are very rusty so they will make terrible noise when you try to open them. That's why they are not guarded (and because the dwarves think that there is only a drugged prisoner in the cells). When you open them, they will turn towards the door and take action.

Right, so that plan's out. Will Chops and I provoke AoO's when we run through the door? Chops can probably tumble, but I can't. I might be better off staying there and dealing with the door guards.

Okay, so some of the white bone covenant items have activated themselves. I'm gonna post the abilities and you can write them into your sheets and give them whatever name you want.

Gillian: You are gifted in healing magic. You apply your Wisdom modifier to all healing spells.

Solvi: You are gifted in war magic. You receive Magic Missile as known spell and that spell costs you 1 SP to cast it.

Pete: You gain claw attacks 1d4 damage.

The others will receive their "bone gifts" before they reach 2nd level as well.

Eyvindr, there's discussion on the threads here about two-weapon fighting using two-handed weapon and armor spikes. That sounds to me like an excellent fighting style for a dornish wildlander. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Sorry, I don't really have time to sift through reams of opinions in different threads... is there a specific rule/mechanic you would like me to consider? At this point in time, Eyvindr does not have any armour spikes... but I'm guessing that's something you would like to introduce in the game?

Well, the essence of the mater is that rules say that armor spikes can be used as off-hand weapon. Of course, they do not need to be held in a hand. That would mean that you would continue to use bastard sword in your hands as primary attack and then you would use spikes on your elbows, knees, shoulders and boots to slash and gouge and that would be your off-hand attack. That seems to me like a good idea for Dorn two-weapon fighting style. You would have to find new armor and spikes, but that can be a little quest on its own. Of course, if this idea does not sound interesting to you, we'll think of something else. Remember that you have both wildlander traits and ranger bonus feats to use.

Well, no. You are drugged and that interferes with the way your body and mind work. the dwarf on the altar is Sorok, by the way. The group needs to fight this out on their own and decide how to accept you in their own time. Characters, that is.

Nightflier, I'd like to point out that the Black Blood racial mods are balanced for 3.5 (total average bonus of +0) and not for Pathfinder (total average bonus of +2)

I'd recommend that it be adjusted by either increasing one of their bonuses by 2, or reducing their charisma penalty by 2.

Unless, of course, you feel that there is a reason for the Black Bloods to be statistically inferior to the resistance-aligned dwarves. I can see the logic of them having an even greater charisma penalty than normal, but it seems to me they aught to grow in another area to compensate.

Holy crud! That's one hell of a loophole in the system. I can't think of any particular reason that it wouldn't work, but if it does that makes it statistically superior to every other method of fighting out there.

I'm not complaining. I actually like to find and use these kinds of ideas, and generally i don't find them to be beneficial to the point of unbalancing the game.

If this is allowable, I'd recommend that Chops use it as well, maybe with a dwarven waraxe or something (anything that is appropriate that could be two-handed. Sized up Uturuks come to mind). I can see this style as being appropriate to Dornish, Dwarven or even Orcish culture, and it would be interesting to see Chops learn something like it from Eyvinder, or vice-versa.

I was just thinking that. Chops fighting style is to use his axe and an unarmed attack. So far, much of them have been kicks, so with this in mind, he should be two hand attacking then kicking.

Perhaps I'll tweak it a bit. If Sorok is opened to little modification of his character, we can do something with it. I have this vision of Black Blood dwarf dark smith, scarred by the fires of his smithy, intimidating in his visage - but that is very different than what Sorok had in mind, so we'll just have to wait and see what he does with his background.
