“How close?” he asks Anna, putting his head close to hers to be heard, and looking down the stair.
"Closest are three levels down. Half a minute?"
Covering the stairs down with readied action.
<At a loss for clever remarks, Anna vomits just a little inside her riot mask... pulling it away for a few seconds to let the puke run down her neck.>
<Looks back, startled. Then whispering.>
"My grandfather was here. But he wanted to die at home."
Dave Judd wrote: Anna Cho wrote: "Cool. Does anyone have a backup gun they can give me?" “If you plan to be shooting, then take this.” Dave pats the Colt Commando hanging from a strap over his shoulder. “If it’s in case of last resort, then take my Glock. Should be about … 13 shots left in the clip.” "I'll take the Glock. You have another clip?"
"Cool. Does anyone have a backup gun they can give me?"
"My family is all dead. I have nothing. I'll go."
<Anna cries and checks the ammo in her colt python.>

Ron hands a stack of ID cards across. They have an RCMP logo on them and say "visitor pass". Your given names are scribbled in sharpie underneath a cryptic handwritten "D9".
"You are hereby deputized" he says.
<Anna waves her hand at one of the clip-on 'D9' visitor passes that the zombie hunters wear.>
"I think these guys are the police, Aunt Terri."
<Starting to look really freaked out.>
"Well. Some of them did come to get us. Back there. Around the corner? Right? We killed them."
Samantha Bastian wrote: ... "can you hear it too? I don't know what it wants with us upstairs, but I really don't want to go up there and find out." She glances back towards where she last saw Cord. "Do you think Cord might be convinced to not go up there?" <Looks over at Dave. Twirls her finger around her temple in the universe sign for 'insane'.>
Dave Judd wrote: “... So you know where the CDC building is?” "A block east of this building. Facing the east buildings of Vancouver General. And from there it's two or three blocks south to the sword shop."
<Anna does a Bruce Li pose, dances around a bit.>
"I learned a little kung fu at a young age. I think I can swing something around."
<Long pause.>
"From my brother."
The one that turned into a zombie... that you shot to death.
"On that note..."
<Anna follows Sarge.>
"You know Dave, there's a sword shop down the street from the CDC. I'm watching Sarge here and thinking I might want to go shopping."
Anna runs to U4 and peers around the corner.
"Wow. Like fncking Conan, but not ripped."
<Just to be safe, Anna keeps an eye on the hallway going south and east.>
Dave Judd wrote: Perception: 1d20 + 7 <Sees Judd--looks relieved--notices he's looking at the ceiling.>
"I know, right? First it's Iron Man, then The Hulk, now it's Spiderman. Zombie fncking avengers."
Samantha Bastian wrote: "Did you guys just hear that? It sure as hell didn't sound friendly whatever the fnck it was." "Ummmm, all I can hear is starving cannibals downstairs. Are you ok, Sam?"
Samantha Bastian wrote: "Uh guys. I don't want to alarm anyone here, but to me those surt of look like footprints and drag marks on the ceiling. So unless Spider-Man suddenly became a Z, and real for that matter, we may have even more problems."
<Looks up, follows the trail on the ceiling.>
"OOOOOOOkay."
<Leans over the railing and looks upwards through the 6" gap running all the way up and down in the core of the stairwell.>
"I've been alarmed for a few days now. <She's shaking a little--pauses--steadies herself.> This is more like we're terrified human bacon and the pan is just heating up. Maybe we should get Dave up here. I don't think it's good splitting up. What if something comes out a door between him and us?"
Dave Judd wrote:
We either go straight up the fire stair to 4 (hoping we can exit into the building there in the same fashion as at ground), or we head back inside at ground and look for another way up.
Yes the stair is open, but not much. The grenade should go down, though.
"We don't want to go out on the ground floor, we'd have to cross the atrium and take the open stairs. At least here we can duck in at any floor and have a door between us. I've been here before, trust me."
<Looking over Dave's shoulder.>
"Jesus H Christ, guys. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT COOL!"
"The good thing about a T intersection is there are three ways to run for your f~!@ing life."
<Looks up at the ceiling.>
"And it's too f@+&ing late to stay with the cops."
Forgot Anna. F*%$ Sarge, you're wearing your mask right? No coughing needed... and you're eyes will get all gritty.
"Holy Christ caught in a zipper. Hope this doesn't gum up the guns."
Screaming:"OKAY ENOUGH WITH THE SHOOTING!"
"Oh f~$@, this is f%%*ed. Mister, you don't need to blow us up, you need to save us."
<Anna moves up next to Sarge>
"Guys, this dude is from the Joint Task Force, he's like a super commando counter terrorist soldier. Or something like that."
"Please Mister."
Interrupts the silence. "I wonder if there are zombies down here." In a very loud whispering voice.
<Climbs in.>
"It smells... like... tunnel."
"HURRY THE F~@~ UP GUYS!"
<Echo blasts your ears.>
"Well, as long as nobody sprains an ankle we can always run back across the field and jump in the boat."
"Shall we?"
<Anna pulls back the hammer of her revolver and holds it with the barrel down but ready to pull up in a heartbeat. She follows Judd out across the field.>
Quietly to Judd: "Are you sure he went to medical school?"
<As averyone nods their adieus at the Ocean Concrete guardsmen, Anna flicks Rae-Anne back to life and pulls back out into the Granville narrows to head for the park.>
"I'll keep the tunes off from now on..."
Dave Judd wrote: Judd turns to look at her, surprised. “F*ck. Really? To whom? Um … is he … uh, safe?” "He's gone. He was away on business and had a fever last time we talked."
<She fixes her mouth tightly, looks away, and starts flicking Rae-Anne's gauges.>
Dave Judd wrote: Funny. My friend Anna (one of several people that Anna Cho is partially based on) is getting married in Vancouver in November. <Looking over at Ocean Concrete, Anna flicks off the metal and cuts back on Rae-Ann.>
"I was gonna get married in November" she blurts... out of the blue.
<Anna looks around at everyone with a look of surprise.>
"They're asking. RCMP, eh? Excuse me maam but may I handcuff you please?" she chuckles.
<She cuts the engines, nods at the cops and gives a thumbs up.>
<Flips through the playlist in Rae-Anne's stereo.>
"Yah, look at him all cute like that. And he hasn't barked once."
Looks at Sarge and Johnnie. She comments on the gunshot with an exaggerated interrogative intonation: "Ummmm, f$~*?"
<Anna climbs back into the boat.>
"Get the rope."
Cord Vogel wrote: Cord finishes his first circuit of the roof top and returns to watch the action, keeping low the whole time after Sam's advice. He trips the walkie talkie, "Hey guys, remember you have two long planks of wood you could use to drive over the fence with, no use damaging the van if we might need it later." Hehe. This may be as fun as Sarge jumping off the bus.
To Johnny: "What the hell are they doing over there?"
Then a little louder: "Pssst Mike! Get back here."
I wrote another one. I forgot Anna laughing was in the first. Multitasking... And I hate it when I come back 10 minutes later and realize it's not there.!
Anna snorts and stifles nervous laughter at the poor housewife who was probably just buried alive. She hops off the boat into the water to pull the prow around with Mike's abandoned rope. A stream of obscenity belies her china doll loveliness.
The boat is half turned around.
Hisses at Mike through her teeth: "F%#$ Mike, what the f#%+ are you doing?"
"I'll drive it. You two have to hope onto the banks with ropes and do what I say. Maybe you have to get wet."
<Anna smiles at the god squad. Then quietly through her teeth.>
"I think I'll come with you guys."
Quietly to Judd: "Whoa. Is he looking at me?"
<Looks down at Mike.>
"I think he's having a seizure. Does he like have medicine or anything?"
Mike O'Neill wrote: Is Anna going to need to be carried? In Mike's dreams.
Anna, other than her dignity, is uninjured and gets off the bus a little slow but more than makes up for it by threading through the car jam with a speed unheard of in the Asian community.
On the run she shouts at Johnny, Mike and Cord: "You sure you still have a boat, guys? I mean you're not exactly inspiring a pro-zombie-hunter confidence so far and I'm kinda wondering."
I'm assuming Sam is hanging back for the propane shot.
Dave Judd wrote: Judd checks to see if Anna is awake, bringing a cup of tea. "Wow. Thanks." She has a sip then hides her head under one of the pillows again.
"Just 15 more minutes..." Anna says every 10 minutes for the next half hour after the early sunrise. Long days in Canada this time of year.
<Anna walks into the room slowly with the anaconda drawn and the hammer back. She kicks over a half empty bottle of baby oil. Shivers.>
"This is mega fncked up."
"Introduce us to your girlfriend, Dave."
