I hate to pour salt on a fresh wound, but, Stormstrider knows I've been contemplating this for a long while. Realizing that a spell is being cast, Aldhranhald reacts with lightning quick speed and casts a spell of his own. A spell his deity has just recently empowered him to cast. Via the magic he commands the undine to halt his actions. He gives voice to the spell by saying, in Aquan, "Halt!
DC 14 Will Save to Negate the effects of the spell. Otherwise the creature is forced to literally stand still and do nothing for an entire round of initiative. :)

Seeing that this creature is inflappable, Aldhranhald returns hostility with hostility. In Aquan he says, "We are not leaving, and we WILL study this level of the Spire; you can either benefit by this or be destroyed. The choice is yours." While he's making threats he is also scouring the recesses of his knowledge for any bits about creatures like this blue-skinned humanoid.

Not sure which knowledge would be appropriate, but they are all +10 except Arcana, which would be a +11. Unless it's Geography, Nature, or History, then it would be +7. Regardless, Aldy also gets the +3 from the Monster Lore ability. :)

Having just recently finished his study of Aquan in the book he acquired containing planar knowledge, Aldhranhald easily understands the creature's speech. Ummmm... I know it's a little late, but I actually DID take a skill rank in Linguistics and the language I took was Aquan (based entirely off of the information you'd given us so far). Unfortunately I still haven't had time to finish all the level up process for Aldhranhald, nor to update his profile. I probably won't have time to do that until tomorrow morning. After giving it some thought, I think I'd actually like to stick with taking Aldy's next level in cleric. If that's okay with you Stormster? I also think, again if it's all right with you, I will still take the craft wand feat. The ability to give the group wands at half the cost seems like a very useful thing, and might actually prevent us from having to go back and forth to town as much.

Okay clearly Boudacia taking Air Bubble for one of her new spells at level up would be our best option here; in addition, if Sama would take Touch of the Sea, I think we'd be doing just fine. Arcane Magic for the WIN!!! Of important note. If that is what is going to happen, Aldhranhald would NOT then take his level in cleric. So I really need to know what those two characters will do before I complete my level up process. :)

It would make life a lot easier for all of us, including you, because then we've got an Air Bubble candy cane. Btw air bubble can protect objects from water as well, so that would protect your spellbook Sama. :)

Update. I don't have time to update my profile and such today, but, I have a solution to the water level problem. As a fifth level caster, and having gained a feat from taking a level in Cleric... sneaky, I know, Aldhranhald will be taking the Craft Wand feat. Which will allow him to craft a wand of Air Bubble with 50 charges. By my understanding of the rule he need only expend 375 gold pieces to create a level one wand, and it would only take 3/4 of a day to do so. I don't remember how much wealth we all have, we might need to pool gold in order for him to do it, but it is possible. I'll look more into the details when I have time, but just wanted to let everyone know that Aldhranhald should be able to get us through the submerged level with breathable air in a bubble around our heads. :) Each casting from the wand will last a minute, but hopefully if we actually track our movement in the level through initiative rounds, we can make that one wand last for the entire level...?

Well that's above average least. :) I'll get to leveling up here shortly, but I might not get to finish today as I'm expecting a large amount of work to show up with the mailman, if he can make it through the snow drifts. :)
As for going back to town. I do have a possible alternative, though I'm not sure how effective it will be. I've been considering taking a level in Cleric. An Inquisitor is really just a specialized cleric anyway, so taking a level of Cleric would put Air Bubble on Aldhranhald's spell list. Obviously if Stormstrider is all right with that, it could alleviate some of the stress of this level... I'm not exactly sure how his casting will work in that case, if he can cast cleric spells using his Inquisitor slots? Or what. I'll get on it here quickly and hope to have a more detailed post up either later today or tomorrow morning in that regard. :)

It is clear that Aldhranhald is deeply conflicted after listening to all his friends tell him they would not choose to stay with him on this fact gathering mission. He puts the finishing touches on his map of the level, and taps the quill pen repeatedly on the side of the parchment. "This is disheartening news." He says with a sour look on his face. He turns looking down the hallway where Skraa-orm Thagh holds lair. He turns and looks at his friends. Then he speaks, saying, "So be it, let it not be said that Aldhranhald broke loyalty with those he held most dear. Whatever secrets this level contains, will have to wait for another day or another investigator." With that the dark-haired elf puts away his mapping supplies and pulls his quarterstaff from its leather loop on his haversack. "Off we go then."

After having their tour of the entire level, Aldhranhald's curiosity is only piqued all the more. There is something at work here, something unlike anything he's ever seen before, and to just leave without fully understanding it is not something he believes he can do. So he pulls aside his friends and says, "My friends, I cannot in good conscience leave this troglodyte lair without fully studying it. There are things here unlike any on the face of Golarion, and I may be the only man qualified to try and decipher their secrets. I do not want to harm these creatures; they've given us no cause to. Instead, and I know this may be asking a lot of you all, I'd like to live among them for awhile. To study not only their tribal ways, but, if I can ingratiate myself into their society, find time to study the power that energizes the mag net, that produces the pink paste, and produces clean drinking water from seeming thin air. As we have, several times, left the Spire's dungeons to go back to Fort Inevitable, I do not find it so extraordinary a request. While Slaagh peruses the maps of the upper levels, he sketches all they have seen in godhome, but decides to jot his notes in Elvish instead of common, so Slaagh can't see what he's really writing about the place.

Though if/when the tour takes us to the room northwest of the magnet where we heard the clicking sounds, Aldhranhald's curiosity might just get the better of him. The knowledge of what Skraa-orm Thagh actually is, is too big a revelation for him to pass up on. Which, I guess, is my way of saying Aldhranhald, though he would have a twinge of conscience about it, might just turn out to be fine with slaughtering all these primitive creatures so that he can discern the mysteries of this mag net...

"Uriel, I've heard of things like this before, if it is what I think it is, it's called a mag net. Think of it like a net that catches metal objects. I've never seen one in real life, only read small snippets of lore. I wasn't even sure they were real until this very moment. I'm sure you've felt the force pulling at the metal objects on your person. I worry, if the pull becomes stronger, we might be stuck to the mag net ourselves. It might be wise, even though it would seem foolish, to strip off all metal." Aldhranhald says, and wastes no time, first dropping the handy haversack to the ground, and then beginning the process of removing his armor. As he does so he whispers, "If it is a mag net, there may be some way to disable it, though I'm sure that would most likely anger the troglodytes in residence. Anybody with high diplomacy or deception want to see if they can convince Slaagh to leave us alone for a bit to "discuss and gather our offering?" If we can get him to leave the room, even if only for a moment, we might be able to get a better handle on things. I'd hate to betray Slaagh to death, he's not tried to harm us, nor do I believe he thinks we will be harmed. Neither, though, do I just want to walk blindly into whatever it is he's leading us toward.

This is probably going to make me sound greedy, but after doing some research this morning, I realized that Inquisitors are proficient with Medium armor, and since they cast divine spells the arcane failure chance is moot. Which means Aldy could wear the +1 Four Mirror Armor and greatly increase his AC. The penalty to strength and dex based checks could come into play at some point, but so far, Aldy has not had to use his Dex based skills all too much. If the penalty became a hindrance I might look at switching back to lighter armor, but for the time being, if no one opposes, I think I'll take it. In addition, Aldy's Dex score is decent enough that the +1 Light Crossbow (a simple weapon so he is also proficient) could be highly effective in his hands, and give him something to do in combat other than "guard the hallway." So if nobody has a problem with that, I'd take that as well. Further, I'd be happy to take the Ring of Protection just as a place-holder, and then hand it over to whomever our new character is, if that is deemed necessary. And... (see I knew this would make me sound greedy) since Aldy tends to be in and out of his backpack for things quite often, I would also not be opposed to taking the second unclaimed Handy Haversack, and, obviously, would then be happy to carry whatever items the party decided he should carry in there. I've updated his character sheet with all those items. In so doing I saw that the four-mirror armor will actually slow his movement to 20' instead of 30'. The trade off of 10' less of movement per round for an AC of 21 (with the RoP equipped), to me, is well worth it.
I am going to update Aldy's profile with a link to the newly adjusted character sheet that incorporates those items. However! If anybody else would like to use the items I'm claiming there, I will have no problem surrendering them. :)

As to the magical loot. If everyone was okay with it, I sure wouldn't mind the cloak of resistance. +2 to all saves would certainly make Aldy much better at throwing off the occasional magical or alchemical attack. I want everyone to agree to that before I'd do it though. If anybody else wants it, I sure understand, and would defer.
Now, about the metal "statue" that is currently our foe in the game. I don't want to do any crazy metagaming here, but I happen to know for a fact that there are metal constructs who actually "get powered up" when they are struck by electrical attacks... So... I'm a little bit hesitant to just take the GM's advice on Sama using things like jolt and aggressive thundercloud. I know Stormstrider is an excellent GM, but I also know he's got a dark side, and part of me thinks he might be suggesting using electrical based attacks so he can bring down the thunder, as it were...

Does that require a roll? Cutting a net? I'm assuming Uriel would be a willing target, and therefore I wouldn't have to roll to hit the rope, because it is an attended object on a willing target, and rope only has 2 HP per inch of thickness. So... Yes? No? Can I just step up and use my action to cut him free?

Aldhranhald, tired of... everything. Casts his inflict wounds spell, and steps up to the Tarrin Dars throwing an open palm strike at her back.
Some rules fu here. Inflict wounds could be administered with just a touch attack, BUT, I am trying to "touch" her simultaneously. Which means the d20 roll is actually for an unarmed strike, which Aldy can make without provoking an AoO because the unarmed strike is the favored weapon of Irori. We did discuss this a LONG time ago, but I've never actually used it. Point being, the number I roll has to overcome her actual AC, not just her touch AC, but if it does. Then I get the 1d3+1 for the unarmed strike AND the 1d8+3 for the inflict light wounds spell.
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
I hope that hits.
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Necrotic Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
That figures. Two 1s on the damage... UGH! Remind me to just stay out of combat. Also, if I'm needed in combat over the weekend you'll have to bot me, as I'll be busy with family Christmas celebrations. I'm sure you'll know what Aldy would do in any given situation. :D
