"Farewell Cousin - and all. I hope to see you in Heldren one day but I suspect fate has other plans."

Yeah - amazing recruitment thread!

Aevann looks fearfully at the carriage
"Mysterious carriage? Claims to be to your destination? Driver tries to hurry you inside? I've heard this story before. The Cart may be slow, but it is safe, and dependable. Better late than never."

Aevann is ready

Really? Given how many of us have been hurt by the Fey... who has a cold iron weapon?

If splitting the team, should we all be posting to the same thread, or start new threads? I can see this getting confusing.

I'm up for the combat, especially if it is a dream.

Recruitment RP seems to be wrapping up. Might be that we need something to restart it, or it will be a bit hard on the people still incoming.

"Of course Agatha. Much to discuss."

"Good night all. I hope you find your clan's killers, Mr Sturion."

Aevann nods to Calah "Thank you miss, please keep your coin. We've enough for a room... we'd want to. A few nights back we were camping under the cart when a bear attacked us! Fortunately we'd set traps and it ran off." he shivers "I thought it was a Wolf at first, it was so big."

"Shapeshifting like that, bound by oath... are you some sort of Fey?"

Aevann definitely seems intrigued, but suddenly cautious.

"If you can swear it harmless, then yes" answers the boy carefully

"Then we will both be kinslayers. I had for siblings and a mother thirteen months ago"

Seeing the owl stealing food, Aevann sighs and speaks to the bird.

"You mustn't do that, sir. You'll get him in trouble. You may have some of mine if you like." this last is accompanied by an offered morsel t tempt the bird.

Sildur
Aevann's face falls
"I wouldn't wish my footsteps on you, sir, and I don't know any life's truths, just stories and craft."

Nightdeath
"I don't know. It's just a stupid rhyme, okay?" the boy seems frustrated "Those are just the words. Why is she birth and she silver?"

Sturion
"I don't know. Tell me what you know and I'll see if it fits a story. I know lots of stories about dragons; 'The Doomed Twelve', 'the massacre at Blue Hill', 'the Ice that Flies in the Night'."

"As to what you should be afraid of... I don't know. Maybe why it let you go? Hmmm... Some monsters kill everyone but one survivor, then let the survivor go to spread the word and bring more things to kill. Usually only monsters that care about treasure or killing heroes though - or undead tied to a family bloodline, like in 'Haunted Pete'."

Aevan downs a little more stew, and digs out some coins

Aevann still looks sullen after Shiro's hair-rustling condescension. "Seems like everything frightens my elders except the things that should"
"It was just that... given fate's tapestry seems to have been woven into a tapestry 'round here, I thought that maybe the chant might work better, give us a clue... but most of them don't make sense anyway"

He - reluctantly - leaves his sister and walks to Lanarial
"I am sorry about saying you were from hell, and scaring you. What do we need to be even?"

He then walks over to Calah
"Do you think so? That maybe I could earn a living as a bard? I know a lot of stories, is that enough? Why is Birth amusing?"

The boy looks sullenlely at Shiro and mutters "just trying to help! I didn't make it dark! "

Aevann wrote:
"Nine for hell" pointing at Rhanloi

Damnit, screwed up and used player Name; sorry, should be Lanarial

When the darkness comes Aevann immediately throws himself towards his sister, bouncing off furniture in his haste and blindness to cross the short distance.

Aevann closes his eyes, spins around, and points his finger directly at Sturion
"One for sorrow" pointing at Sturion, and continuing to move round, chanting as he goes
"Two for mirth" pointing at Rikael
"Three for a wedding" pointing at Agatha - and he does not seem best pleased about it
"Four for birth" pointing at Calah
"Five for silver" pointing at Shiro
"Six for gold" pointing at Thorn
"Seven for a secret, not to be told" pointing at Kzethax
"Eight for heaven"pointing at Izumi
"Nine for hell" pointing at Rhanloi
at this point he stops, having spun completely around.

"Fire is everybody's ally, and nobody's friend" Aevan quotes at the Kobold.

"Four witches met by 'chance'; five with the White Lady. Cities have fallen to less than this."

Aevann then returns to his sister, where he whispers for a while with her, then returns

" Cousin in truth! I had thought the warmlands would be...warmer. I think you are right and some great Patron has turned her eye on this place."

He looks stricken for a second as something seems to occur to him "How old are you cousin?"

"I was invited in here, hunter. Were you? We are bound by our word to the White Lady, you have no need to fear us." Turning back to Agatha

"Well said, kuzynka. We" - he indicates his sister and himself "are all of Jadwiga Kseniya. The Jadwiga Elvanna scum stepfather of ours thought he had erased us, but he has failed. My sister lives to continue the line. I live to end his."

Agatha:

Are you okay if we are actually fairly closely related? Both mothers got married off, albeit at different times. Agatha's mother was married off years ago, Aevann's mother was exiled to Chillblight about the same time.

"I was talking to my cousin" The boy casts a dark look at Thorn.
Turning back to Agatha he continues "You want to hear the story? Of the children whose stepfather was supposed to kill them, but sold them to the Fey? Of the escape from the Fey, from Chillblight, past Winter's Wolves, past the Jadwiga Elvanna, past bandits and bears? Of those who fell, and those who lived?"
"That is a big story kuzynka."

From across the room the girl hisses, and the boy - older - winces.

"Thrice I have named you kuzynka, Agatha Mystblame of the Ice Dagger tribe, and never have you denied it. What is your line? Who was your mother?"

"I don't want to go to Irrisen." the boy explains patiently "I only just left there, kuzynka."

@GM Deuce: Thanks, is what I thought. I think that Aevan's ready to go.

The boy purchases some food for his sister and himself, takes it to a table in the corner of the inn, wolfs some down then comes over to Agatha; the girl remains at the table.

"You intend to take a group into Irrisen, kuzynka?"

The buy whispers to his sister, nods then answers in what sounds like a very formal but well practiced phrasing "We agree. So mote it be."

After saying that the children happily enter

The children let Calah's pleas stand

The boy's head crooks sideways a little, like a bird considering a puzzle. "We're not cold, thank you ma'am."

The boy speaks up over the crowd to Sturion and Sildur "Thank you, sirs, but we don't want to get in trouble. Does the Innkeeper say it is alright for us to enter? We do have some money."

"Our parents? Mother never told us about our father, and she's dead now. Our new stepfather sold us, but we ran away south to the warmlands."

The boy - still not across the threshold - looks at Agatha, the young girl hiding behind him and peering out.

He repeats carefully, a cadence to his voice. "Agatha Mystblame of the Ice Dagger tribe. Child of an Orc Chieftain and a Jadwiga. Seeking who in Irrisen slew your tribe? You seek a Name, and Revenge." he drops back into a more regular tone "It is like knowing the start of a story, but not the end. Do you have any clues as to who it was? "

"Wait - are you going into Irrisen?"

I'm in! There really aren't a lot of children icons, are there. Still looking for a better one. Reusing a name I've used before - Harakani

Two more children peer in through the door at the chaos within; a 5' tall boy and a much younger girl. A cart harnessed to a huge, shaggy yak waits outside.

"Excuse me" the boy asks the nearest patron "May we come in? Some places don't allow children."

the girl whispers something and the boy responds "No, not like that place near the mines. The ladies have all their clothes on, so I think it will be alright. "

Congratulations to the accepted - hope you have a great game!

Aevann's "Glimpse Beyond" is sort of a nemesis, I guess. Aevann'd like to kill it but it is a long, looong way off. Might be too long ig this is what you're looking for.

Honestly, I would have preferred to have it be Fey - wendigo was the closest cold and evil outsider I could find to Fey. Happy to rewrite things if Fey is enough but by book it needs to be an evil outsider, aberration or undead.

If it was fey (which the guide suggest we'll face) then all fey sort of qualify for it. I figure once he figures out his problem with cold iton he'll end up with a strange fascination with Fey in general.

I was trying to incorporate winter fey themes with Aevann.

Okay... I think Aevann is good to go.
