----- Special Abilities -----
Chillblight Emisarry You have spent considerable time at Chillblight, but have escaped this unearthly fey outpost. You gain DR 1/cold iron but become sickened for 1 round if damaged by a cold iron weapon.
Cold Flesh A winter witch gains endure elements as a constant, spell-like ability, but only against cold temperatures. At 4th level, she gains cold resistance 5, making her comfortable in near-freezing temperatures. This replaces the witch’s 4th-level hex.
Fey Foundling (Ex/Sp/Su) Your strange connection to the First World and the fey infuses you with life, and whenever you receive magical healing, you heal an additional 2 points per die rolled. You gain a +2 bonus on all saving throws against death effects. Unfortunately, you also suffer +1 point of damage from cold iron weapons (although you can wield cold iron weapons without significant discomfort).
Ice Magic When a winter witch casts a spell with the cold descriptor, the save DC of the spell increases by 1. A winter witch cannot learn or cast spells with the fire descriptor.
Warded against Witchcraft (Ex/Sp/Su) Sometime in your youth, you encountered a location, object, or being steeped in the power of evil witchcraft. Whether you were the victim of this force, a conduit for it, or merely witnessed its effects, the event changed your life. You have tried to put the strange incident behind you and forget it, but nebulous premonitions of danger and eerie feelings of deja vu have dogged your steps ever since. For some inexplicable reason, you feel drawn to the lands of the North, though you fear another encounter with the evil witchery that touched you once before. Whether through purity and the blessing of goodly spirits, an innate determination, or an intuitive familiarity with the ways of black magic, you have acquired a resilience against the dark arts. You gain a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against the spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities of evil arcane spellcasters, and a +1 trait bonus on Spellcraft checks to identify spells cast by evil arcane spellcasters.

A note on Age
Aevan is 16 (just), but couldn’t tell you his exact age. His flawless skin, short stature and malnutrition as a child gives him the appearance of a thirteen to fourteen year old. While short, he is definitely a Medium character.

Story
I know the Stories. I know the Rules. Adults think they’re clever, but all they learn are facts and figures and skills. Pottery won’t help when the Fey comes for you - but blacksmithing might. Knowledge of Thassilon won’t tell you that A Witch is patient, and a Hag is not. A woodcarver knows how to carve a toy just right, but not that if you love it, and you name it, it will rise and help you. What religion tells you you can lie all you want, but never break your word? Wolves hate gates. Never throw anything into a well. Invitations allow power.

Would you like to hear a story? Here is one.

Once upon a time in a land called Irrisen there was a city called Chillblight. Chillblight was a city half in this world and half in the last. It was a place where the Unseelie Fey came to play. The Fey would steal children and play mean games on them.
In Chillblight there was a mother named Ksenia. She was a princess of the Jadwiga, but Queen Elvanna was angry with her and made her take her family to Chillblight as punishment. She thought it would be terrible for them, but Ksenia was clever and wise. She traded with the Fey, and became rich and powerful. She had five children by different fathers; two boys (Aevan and Bartoz) and three girls (Celena, Tedozja and Marja)
When Queen Elvanna found out Ksenia was doing well, she was furious. She married one of her sons to Ksenia, then months later had Ksenia killed. The son was supposed to kill the children as well, but instead he sold them and their house to one of the Fey. named Blinkerspit The oldest, Bartoz, was hunted and eaten. Then Celena, who was next oldest, found a way to escape. The Fey who was guarding them was named Pebblecorn, for his head was a pebble, and his body was made of corn cobs, and he was not very clever. Celana convinced Pebblecornthat she could make the best rabbit stew. She killed a rabbit and made rabbit stew, but she put two whole bottles of vodka in. The greedy Fey ate the whole stew in one go, then fell asleep drunk.
Celena sent the other children to hide while the gaoler was sleeping. Then she woke the gaoler, crying that he had eaten all the other children. Other Fey came in and she said that Pebblecorn had gotten drunk and eaten all the other children. The other Fey were so angry that they tore Pebblecorn into thirds. Then they hunted and ate Celena.
With all the children gone the Fey lost interest in the house, and the children made costumes out of Pebblecorn’s parts and fled to the southlands. The Southlands were a very long way away, and there was no food, so the children cooked and ate Pebblecorn’s parts as they went. When they reached the border all the parts were gone, and they were found by Wolves. Tedozja cleverly tricked the wolves into a riddle competition. While it was happening Aevan and Marja snuck away.
Eventually they arrived in the southlands and wandered from town to town, always heading south when they could. They worked for food where they could, and begged where they could not. Aevan was a good storyteller, and often the children of a village would give them some food in exchange for stories.
They travelled for a year and a day, because that is a magical time, and stopped in the village they found themselves in. Aevan found a burrow for them to live in and they survived. But Aevan knew it would be his turn to die next, so Marja could keep going.
